Been thinking of their dynamic, its very sun and moon coded in the way that TCO can exist just fine without the TDL but the TDL cannot live without TCO, the same way at first the sun and moon seem like equals but when you will soon realise that moon is completely dependent on the sun to have any meaning but the sun is not affected by the moon's existence at all.

TDL's existence is such a strange one as his mission is thing that both gives his existence meaning but will also be the very thing that will leave him completely devoid of meaning. He either has to live his life suppressing the constant all consuming desire to kill his only friend or actually execute his mission and live the rest of his days without any meaning or reason. What is a machine when it has done what it was created to do?
