A new sculpture! Finally... I feel like I never sculpt anymore since I'm always sick or have some 500 other things going on or projects to finish, but I'm trying to schedule time to do it more often this year hopefully..! Just a generic fantasy creature as usual, but did try making the eyes a little more sparkly this time.. hrmm..
#sculpture#fantasy art#fantasy creature#art#elf#lol what are the tags I should use... I still never know.. EVIL social media.. hate the idea of tagging anything ever anyway. but alas..#I also would ideally like to start selling them again and open up custom commmissions and stuff again once I can hopefully get paypal#stuff sorted out. and find like.. a good way to do things.. etc.. I did still want to sell them through auction instead of agonizing#over setting prices being afraid they're either too high or too low. So being able to just be like. Here. this is $50. or more. or less.#negotiate. the worth is whatever you feel like it is so i personally dont have to make that decision. etc. lol... But etsy doesn't let you#do auctions or like pay what you want type stuff so.. then I was thinking ebay? but idk.. ANYWAY.. I want to set things#up so I can sell stuff again hopefully. I still haven't fully recovered from the costs of when I had to take my cat to the vet and put#them down last year and etc. So it'd be good to sell a few things. perhaps.. maychance... perhamble... so on and so forthe... ANYWAY#I was going for whiter more milky sort of hair that blends in closely with the skintone but after the paint dried it seems more yellowy kin#of. which is fine. But just not exacltly like my mind vision lol..#Also it's like... wow... someone with face spots and elf ears and a half open mouth with a gap tooth and wavy hair and kind of downturned#eyes... revolutionary... never been seen before... every sculpture I have ever made surely doesnt look licherally exactly like this... LOL#but maybe it's just a style. so what. People have their motifs lol.. Im just getting back into sculpting. I shall sameface in peace. huzzah#Just like the only thing I ever carve out of avocado pits anymore is eyes. Because that's just whats fun to do. I'm going to accumulate lik#25 similar avocado eyes and have nothing to do with them. I was thinking of stringing some together into a necklace of eyes or something li#like that but.. hrmm... ANYWAY.. Love to do the same things repetitively. :3c

Hello!! I hope this is the right outlet to male a request ☺️ Reader has gone out to look for a remedy on Aemond's eye pain. When she comes back, finds Aemond looking relieved she is safe and angry she made him worry. hehe
this is just the sweetest thing, she notices the small things, how he winces and attempts to hide the pain. she'd do anything to make it all go away <3
Remedy
PAIRING: Aemond Targaryen x fem!Reader.
WORDS: 1,212.
WARNINGS: fluff, soft!Aemond.
Tumblr media
Although he tried to mask the pain, you were able to notice the small details. The way he would turn away from you, his hand swiftly massaging the temple near his lost eye, before resuming to whatever he was doing. You'd convinced yourself you'd even heard your husband awake, wincing from the sharp pain late at night. The site and wound had healed, now where his eye was held had been replaced by a glimmering sapphire gemstone.
It saddened you to see Aemond in such a state, trying to bury his own issues aside, for whatever reason he held. Perhaps he did not wish for others, especially you to consider him weak. Regardless, your conscious would not allow it to continue.
You'd enquired with the maesters if there was any type of remedy available to help rid Aemond of the pain. The only thing they'd known to be most effective and that they had supply of was milk of the poppy, although Aemond was never a fan of it. He hated how drowsy and lethargic it would make him feel, he avoided the cost of being inattentive.
The maesters suggested a herb that could be transformed into a topical ointment, that may help to numb the site without any severe side effects. Although much to your luck, they had just run out of the supply and were awaiting for stock to arrive, for the ingredient was hard to come by in Westeros. One of the younger maesters however, urged you to seek out certain markets in King's Landing that would sell the plant, for a pretty price.
"Not many people know, Princess, it is a very hard thing to come by. Although, these merchants are willing to sell for a decent cost."
"Then you shall take me to them!"
****
What felt like hours on end, the young master and yourself had searched countless markets and streets, without any luck. You'd left Aemond unaware of your errands, the Prince was busy training and attending council meetings, so you'd convinced yourself now was the time. However, much to your dismay, you hadn't realised how much time would be spent in search for such a delicate thing.
"There's a few more stalls I can take you to, Princess, but the hour is late. Mayhaps we try again another time."
"No, let us continue. There will be no need to come and go, just show me to the next seller, and be done with it today."
The stalls that you'd encountered, many merchants recognised you however none would question your whereabouts, for many feared the One-Eyed Prince himself. And as hopeful as they were to sell to a royal member, they were just as disappointed as you being unable to provide what you desired for.
As you walked towards the next stall, did you finally begin to realise how sore your feet and legs felt, walking through the narrow streets, the countless steps. But you know had the moment come, it would be worth it for Aemond.
And thankfully, your luck had finally struck!
“Here she is, the last of our supply. You just made it, it’s quite popular here in the city.”
The ecstatic look on your face, a wave of relief coarser through your body as you held a few of the branches of the beautiful white flower up. Examining it carefully, as though it was a dragon egg.
You’d paid the heavy price and returned back to the castle, the sun had just disappeared off in the horizon. It felt like a spring in each step, the exhaustion you’d felt only moments ago vanished, as you both made your way back up gleefully.
You thanked the young maester for his tremendous help, and would reward him with a high recommendation to his seniors. You’d spared only a few more minutes as he prepared a vial of the ointment for you, before you both departed your own ways.
As you made your way back into your chamber, Aemond sprung himself up, storming towards you.
“Where in the Seven Hells have you been, Y/N?! I sent Criston and his men to look for you across the castle and you were no where!”
“I-”
“You had me worrying sick, you understand-”
He snapped, cutting you off before you could explain yourself.
“Why would you leave without consoling me, and where did you go only to return so late in the hour. Are you okay, you feel cold, come closer to the fire.”
You could feel the tension in his grip, even though some relief came as he watched your face appear at the doorway, he was pacing himself, as he led you to where he sat before.
“Aemond, my dear, it’s alright. I went out to look for something with one of the maesters, I needed his guidance.”
“May the Gods be good, what took up your day so late into the night. Nothing happened, are you okay? You could’ve just sent him off yourself, or why didn’t you tell me so that I could have accompanied you! Seven Hells, Y/N don’t you ever disappear like that without a trace… I-I thought you left me.”
He knelt beside you, as you pulled his hand down to come face to face. One hand cupping his cheek, as your thumb gentry caressed his tender skin, whilst the other hand remained clinging to his.
“Aemond, don’t you ever think that. I would never do that to you, you know this… I just had to retrieve this for you. It’s for the pain, my dear. I know the eye troubles you, there’s no need to deny it.”
You’d let go of his face as your hand reached out to reveal a small glass vial with the ointment the young maester had created.
“What-” He softly uttered.
“Just apply a small, pea size amount around your eye my dear, just like so-“
You gently applied the ointment around his temple, and around the eye socket of his sapphire eye. He slightly winced as you first touched it, although began to settle. You glimpsed a faint look of surprise on his face, as you presumed the pain had finally gone.
“And it should ease the pain. Aemond, I hate seeing it trouble you, and I know how you dislike milk of the poppy so please-”
You slowly place the vial in his palm, as you close his fist up.
“Just use this for now.”
He remained silent for a short while, as he stood up again, walking towards the small mirror by the wardrobe. He observed the ointment had been perfectly rubbed in, and as he touched the area, he felt nothing, no more ache, no more of the dull, irritating pain that nagged at him.
He turned back towards you, you reaching him halfway as you closed in on each other.
“You are an angel if the Gods thought of me blessed enough to have you.”
His hands cupped your face, as one began to stream through your hair gently. You smiled up at Aemond softly, as your lips gently hovered over his.
“But don’t you ever run off like that again, without me knowing, unless you want the whole Kingsguard to seize the city until we find you.”

Two Humans in the Demon Realm - Fantasy And Nightmare
What if by the time Luz Noceda the human emerged into the demon realm...some other human did, too? However, instead of being joyful of being surrounded by all they love and taken in by a kind and openhearted witch...they are terrified of this place, taken in by the ruler of the realm?
[Basically I watched TOH again and dammit HUNTER SHALL HAVE A FRIEND I SAY NOT UNTIL S2 but NOW I SAY NOW]
BECOMING THE GOLDEN GUARD'S/HUNTER'S HUMAN FRIEND BECAUSE I SAID SO
Tumblr media
The ground was red.
You swore you heard something akin to a growl from the plants.
The sea seems to be boiling and there is no way out, no matter how much you twist and turn.
There is no escape.
And as your fears turn into reality as raindrops hit your skin and burn your flesh away as you read in the book back home, you run and cry.
This is a nightmare.
This isn't earth. Nowhere this place could be, could be earth!
And if what that book said was true...
There are no humans but just one. From decades ago.
Perhaps you heard of the demon realm - through stories, gossip, theories, relatives that are aware of magic and witchcraft.
Maybe you believed in it, or maybe you thought it'd be humbug. The few magical instances in your life you witnessed - those were just show, right? A trick of the mind?
Or real magic after all.
But it did not matter. The moment you opened your eyes, you were stuck here.
On a rotting, red, boiling island that seemed far, far too familiar in that book you've read. Either out of interest or boredom. Maybe someone wanted to prove it to be real or you wanted to know if it was really fake.
Yet here you are and the smell, touch, sight and taste you sense were accurate to that stupid book.
And if that were the case, then certainly the rest of demons, magic and curses was real, too.
Being all alone in a strange place, stuck in it, is definitely going to be hard for you. No friends, allies or family around with only this stupid, stupid book in your hands that got you trapped here in the first place. As much as you hated it, it did give insight of the many qualities of the isles and therefore saving your skin a dozen times.
"The rain seems to be toxic. I have seen none indulge in its coolness but rather, hide from it. Witch and demon alike."
"The ground is very...solid. Almost bone-like...I do fear the entire island may be nothing but a macabre graveyard."
"I was not quite welcome here...nothing and no one hunted me down but I presume if my curiousity pushes for it, they will begin to."
The impressed yet depressing writing of the author did not help but they always managed to decribe things objectively with great detail that saved you again and again. Especially the pages including magic spells.
The many complicated and confusing glyphs written in it daunted you at first. Magic, you believe, is what got you in this mess in the first place but after careful thinking, procrastination, blocking it all out and finding yourself in a situation that forced you to cast magic - such one that could cost you your life - you've grown to be a bit more accepting of the concept of these...glyphs. Little by little, though.
So after some time, you finally, finally gained enough courage to...enter their society.
The market seemed to be fine for now. Hiding your ears behind a cape and hood YOU HAD TO MAKE YOURSELF USING THIS STUPID BOOK (which actually turned out quite impressive even when you did have to use magic) you entered. Turning into the wrong directions though you ended up in a even sketchier part of the night market.
The constant bellowing of...demons wanting to sell you things was familiar enough from earth (even when their...four eyes and gills decorated from their chin down to their chest where you can...see their heart beating...was a not so familiar sight) but the constant showing off of magic was not. You did not know everything and this (stupid) book did not detail everything either so you did your best to avoid anything magical. Which was harder than imagined considering this is a market for amplifiers and potions and whatnot.
Avoiding it all let you to an dead end of an alley...and right in the middle of a criminal act!
'Wild witches' as they were called and a red light engulfed all of you quickly from above. Figures clad in dark and masks that you recognized as that of guards of this realm appeared, those that you often had to run away from as well. Desperately tugging the book under your cloak you hoped you could use th scuffle to get out of there as fast and quietly as possible. These 'wild witches' and guards could thrash each other as much as they like, you won't stop them!
Yet from above, a cold gale with a flash of gold swept up from behind you, shoving a staff into your face.
"I wouldn't do anything stupid now if I were you."
Damnit!
Fine, the potion you begrudgingly needed three days to make had to come in handy now!
Whisking a flask to the ground, you made a run for it. You could hear coughing and cursing as the vapor ingulfed them, followed soon by another echoing sound before the same golden mask appeared in front of you again.
In a mere blink of an eye, they swung their staff and a biting wind knocked you to the ground. You quickly clung onto your book as the guard rose their staff above their head.
"One more of that trick and you're ash." They lowly let out, "Can't believe there are still wannabees out there that-"
They halt and you freeze, a shiver running up your spine. Even when all they did was stand still as a statue, the very fact that they were clad and gold and white with real, heavy armor and with a staff compared to the local guards around the isles was enough to leave you frightened.
This one means business. It must be.
But what are they? Nowhere are these people ever talked about in the book!
"...Human..."
You jerked up. Even their whispers were threatening.
Slowly but surely, the guard lowered their weapon. Though their face remained hidden by the mask resembling an owl, there was just a feeling, and underlying but undeniable feeling that made your stomach churn that whatever expression they might be having, their intentions are not in your interest.
"You're a human."
Your breath hitches. The cloak had fallen off from their spell, leaving it damp and abandoned further down in the alley. You didn't this would happen, you followed the instructions bit by bit. It felt like time stood still as the person before you hummed.
Finally, they raised their head again. "...You don't want trouble. Surely you don't?"
You shook your head.
"Then you're lucky you ran into me. Either you come with me or its the Conformatorium for you." They pointed the glowing tip of their weapon at you before playfully swinging it around, "And then, you know, zapped to dust, thrown into the sea to boil alive or petrified - there isn't much use for humans here."
Finally, you manage to speak. "You're not serious, are you?"
They sigh and motion for you to get up, doing so more threateningly when you did not obey the first time. "I'm not known for playing around." The red glow of the staff zapped towards your body, slung around your wrists like a snake before they jabbed you to keep walking out of the night market. "The Golden Guard can't afford to play around."
The next events were something you could only describe as hectic. Put on some kind of zeppelin (though it looked like a ship with wings) with magical...ropes(?) on you and head off to somewhere. Somewhere this guy claimed to be better than the 'Conformatorium'.
You had asked him what the point of taking you was but he was a bit too nonchalant for your taste.
"Oh, you'll see", He let out, "The Conformatorium is for witches and demons useless for the covens. But lucky for you, you might end up being useful, human."
It's all he said as he turned his back to you, controlling the ship with an carefree tune.
"I have a name, you know."
You spat out, couldn't take his attitude anymore. What is wrong with people in this realm?
The Golden Guard halted for a moment, stopping his melody abruptly. He waved his hand. "And?"
In turn, you scoffed out your name and telling him he might as well use it instead.
"What, does everyone also go around avoiding your name and calling you 'Golden Guard' instead or whatever?"
Once again he halted, longer than you anticipated. It was one request, a mere question but it left this guard guy guessing. He tilted his head absent-mindedly. You wondered what he'd need to ponder about for so long.
"...I do my job well," He started softly, "Well enough to be the only one worthy to be called the Golden Guard."
The trip was short and you did not know what to think of it. Glad to not bear this guy's attitude any longer or fearing for your life as a mere human in a place full of witches.
And covens? Use? Use for what? What is this...giant building, seeming more grande than anything else you've seen on the isles?
The rest followed by command. The Golden Guard shooed you to an different entrance than what you assumed tha main one was. The staff pressed against your back as you had no choice but to obey. With what could you defend yourself anyhow? An ancient book and bound hands?
The interior was akin to a palace of the medieval times, you noted. Individuals masked and clad in similiar white and gold worked routinely like soldiers in the hallways though your Golden Guard guy made sure nobody saw you. None of this was written in the book and though you have heard a few mumble in fear of the 'Emperor's Coven' you thought none of it. As long as you stayed away from it, you'd be safe. Yet here you were.
With a jab to the back, your oh so sweet companion ushered you up hidden stairs. Once entered the door behind you closed shut (with magic. Of course. Even in movies you never liked it when doors unexplainedly closed) and you went up ahead. The guard seemed to speed up more and more - along with getting ever so closer to a bright light ahead, you grew more anxious. This was it, wasn't it? You were going to die.
This would be your end, thrown into an hellscape away from family and friends. Treated like something worse than trash before your inevitable death.
Your companion rushed ahead of you, stepping into the room and immediately kneeling down. He moved his staff, causing you to tumble next to him, the magic ropes around your wrists tightening. "My Emperor," He let out in the most reverant voice you've heard him speak, "I apololgize for the sudden intervention but I have found something that might be of great interest to you regarding...the plan."
Looking up the dimly lit room, following the golden floor and walls, clad in immaculate red carpets and a set of stairs lied a throne. Tall and towering and on it, a man even more frightening.
He leaned his masked head against his armored hand, comfortably sitting on gold. His pale blue eyes glowed like that of a predator, you swore it at first sight.
"Your little friend will help accomplish our plan?"
"It is not anyone, sir." The Golden Guard pushed you forward and exposed your ears, "It is a human."
The exchange was scarier than anything else you'd seen on the isles.
The man on the throne was as swift as the wind as he stood up and approached you. He'd examine you, ask you question on who and what you are.
"Where do you come from, child, and when was that?"
He'd tilt his head and hum at your answers but did not make it known that he noticed your shaking and stuttering. However, his eyes lit up even more when he saw that book tightly hidden in your bag.
"Oh? What's this now?" With a flick of his finger, the book floated up to his eye level, pages after pages turned as he read them ever so quietly.
He'd definitely would ask you from where you got this book.
In the end it did not matter. Found it at a library, abandoned at a bus stop, given by clerk or friend. However, the man would raise a brow if you said that this book had been in your family for years.
Only if that were the case, though.
"Interesting. Well, welcome to the Emperor's Castle. Do make yourself at home."
...Wh-what?
The Golden Guard was just as confused as you. Stammering, he got up. "U- Emperor, what, here? Wh-what do you mean 'make yourself at home'?"
"It is what I said. Have you never had any guests, Golden Guard? You don't keep them prisoner," The man lifted his hand and the ropes around you vanished, "and you certainly take care of them. Like preparing a room for example." He put his arms behind his back, staring down at the younger man expectantly. He in turn, bowed and helped you up.
The...king of this castle you presumed, waved you goodbye. "We'll see what we can do for now. I'll gladly keep you here in my castle, safe and sound from the wilderness outside as long you can help me, little human."
Your companion excused the both of you and hurried you out of the throne room. Discreetly leading you inside an unused room, he shut the door.
"You're really lucky." He sighed, "...Anyone else wouldn't get...this treatment."
He sounded surprised and slightly melancholic but you didn't care - instead you can bombard him with any questions you like but he won't answer. Instead he shook his head and rose his open palm. "Listen, human. We're going to see how much of use you're going to be to the Emperor. But right here and now, the two of us are going to make some rules that he doesn't need to know of."
You can complain as much as you like but here you are in no position to refuse.
The Golden Guard listed each rule he abided to you.
'Do not leave the the castle, let alone the room. No one but him and the Emperor can know of your existence.'
'Tell each and every little secret you have to him first.'
'Don't cause trouble. He can get permission to stop treating you like a guest if you do'.
And lastly: 'Obey the Emperor.'
Your expression sours. This isn't what you wanted.
None of this was supposed to happen.
"Well, you'll get by. After all, as long as the Emperor allows it, you'll be kept safe. It's, ugh, my duty now too, to protect you. But be sure to stay in line because I can easily withdraw that priviledge."
Here you were. In this room.
It did have a bed, closet and desk with a chair. Much better than taking shelter in the rain under a firm bone or illegally breaking into someone's basement or shed. However, it was much more barren than any shed you broke into.
The Golden Guard would come in two to three times a day (WITHOUT KNOCKING) and bring you food and water. Either sternly ordering you around or playfully degrading you with a tap on the head with his staff. "Don't worry, the food is digestible for your human organs!" His enthusiasm didn't make the food taste any better though.
Aside from this, he'd ask you questions which you could only refuse or answer vaguely. He'd remind you of the safety the Emperor is providing you...but you can't admit that this 'Emperor' man felt sketchy to you. The book you always had with you was something you kept only for your eyes to see. It was your key in getting out of the demon realm and not matter what, you swore to yourself you wouldn't give it away or lose sight of it.
However, one day you had a request of your own.
"You remember our rules, don't you, human? No leaving this room."
"You can't expect to keep me here - thats keeping me prisoner, not as a guest!"
"I can tell you all about the great Emperor's Coven here. Besides, the Emperor plans to have a talk with you again."
You sigh. What's the point of escaping the room and getting lost in this giant castle right after? As well as risking being kicked out into the deadly outside of the isles?
But staying here would make you mad. Stuck in a system that you know nothing about...and you're supposed to just obey and take it?
"Can't you at least...show me around? I'd leave the room, yes, but you'd be with me. We wouldn't leave the castle and you can just keep an eye on me if you must. It's just...tiring to be here and not know what the rest of everything looks like." You looked out the window you were prohibited from opening. At least light went through, something akin to what you could deem a sun. "I still don't like this realm...but knowing nothing of it doesn't put me at ease even when I'm safe here."
Looking back you reckoned the Golden Guard was pondering about your request even behind the mask. You couldn't believe you were about to beg.
"Please, Golden Guard?"
Something about that look on your face felt too familiar.
With a heavy sigh he looks away - yet quickly regained his usual vigor. "Well, it would be a shame to be stuck in the great Emperor's Castle with the Golden Guard as your host and not see any of it."
He waved you over his shoulder to follow before swiftly spinning around with a stern voice. "But don't stray out of my sight. Disobey once and you're back in your room, human."
Hoooh boy, it worked.
Although a cloak and a mask was shoved into your hands, you gladly wore it if it meant getting out of the barren, same old room. As he said, the Golden Guard did not let you out of his sight but did insist on leading you. After all, you are pretending to be a newbie covenmember and the Golden Guard can't be seen walking side-by-side with someone beneath his status, hah!
He blabbered on and on about the many sights and objects you face with every turn of the hallways, some more interesting than the other. Your guard however, explained in great detail and with much vigor himself. "To the right we have the Healing Hat and if our guest were to turn to the left, they can admire the Oracle Sphere..."
He continued on with great detail as he waved his hand around as if that information was swimming carefreely in his brain. "Uhm, Golden Guard?" "Yes, newbie?" You ignored the sarcasm, "You witches can do magic because of that heart-addition-gall-thing-" "A sac connected to the heart filled with magical bile, which you lack." "Right. Then why do you need these magical items?"
He sighed. "They can be seen as amplifiers. They're made out of ingredients from the isles which can exceed magical abilities far greater than of any witch, besides Emperor Belos of course. It's easier than to train forever in a coven, so a short cut in a way." He shrugged.
You pondered about his answer, pursing your lips as you somewhat hesitated to ask again.
"...What are covens?"
In an blink of an eye the Golden Guard spun around and you could just imagine his dropped jaw. He let out something of a chortle. "Are you serious? You don't know anything of the Boiling Isles, do you, human?"
You sure were sick of his insults.
"If you were thrown into my realm, you wouldn't know a thing about my home either, would you, witch?"
Taking a step back, your companion hummed. "Hmph, fine. Then I'd better teach you about things here you should and shouldn't do before you get yourself killed. Can't afford to have you walk off and do something stupid, that'd be getting in the way of the plan...so follow my lead, human! I can show you the ropes."
So here you were, taking a longer patroul than planned as your teacher told you all there was to know - which was already a flood of information to take in and remember and you only started with the Emperor's Coven.
As witty his remarks were and how much he loved to throw them at you, the Golden Guard was truly a great teacher. He had a way to inprint each little trivia into your brain and even when you struggled to understand something, he managed to teach it to you in a way that you could grasp. The guy was quite knowledgable himself and it seemed his thirst for magical knowledge couldn't be easily quenched. He had an high opinion on both the Emperor's Coven and magic itself.
At the end of each day you made sure to write each new knowledge down in your book. It brings a smile on your face to see the book continued on from the detailed drawings and pretty, cursive writing to your little doodles and quick notes. It weirdly felt like being back in school and studying and while the change of environment and subjects weredaunting, the familiar routine brought you a bit of comfort.
The instances that brought no comfort were the 'meetings' with the 'king man'.
The Golden Guard drilled it into your head that he shall be adressed as 'Emperor Belos' yet no title could cease his suspicious aura. The man in question never seemed to take offense however.
He began with easy questions. Name, age, where you're from specifically and your time here in the demon realm. Often he found interest in your book but you hesitated to share its contents. The ruler always backed off when you refused.
It was also always very strange when the powerful witch emperor used your name and the Golden Guard didn't.
"Thanks for your time. It's always interesting to hear your perspective from your realm and how you perceive ours. You're really lucky you ended up here in my castle."
Belos also always reminded you of how safe you are in his domain.
If you show any disdain for the demon realm he surprisingly understands. A poor human like you couldn't survive out there for any longer...he can imagine the struggle.
He'd also be interested how far the human realm is on it's moderness. Is it the same as in the demon realm?
His number one question is how you got here in the first place though. You genuinely do not know nor remember but you do keep the secret that it had something to do with the book. Even when you did not know how.
Nevertheless, no matter how much Belos tries to win your favor and trust to look into the book and how you got here, you cannot bring yourself to trust him. The mannerism, the way he talks and walks and knowing he is an emperor just did not sit right with you.
It was never pleasant to meet with him even when he pretends it is.
So the routine stayed the same for a while until something happened.
How it happened is up to you. You snuck onto the airship to finally get out of that castle, the book or some magical item led you to it, you needed to see the Golden Guard for whatever reason or you accidentally got on it. The how doesn't matter, the fact that you are here is what would drive Belos' right-hand man mad.
"What- are you doing here?!" He squeaks out but no explanation would actually calm him. This is an mission he's on and no matter what he cannot let Belos' guest get involved in it! Think about the danger! "Oh, no, no, this isn't good. I already wasn't supposed to show you around the castle but this - this is inexcusable! No, I can't...you aren't supposed to be here, human!"
You back off. This is the first time you've seen the Golden Guard so...anxious.
As quick as it came however, he was able to shake it off and put on the mask again.
"No, it's fine. I can fix this before it even becomes a problem. But you, "He grabs your wrist, "You're staying by my side, got it?"
The outside was dangerous.
You landed in a part of the isles that was unfamilair to you. A few plants and forages were drawn in the book but that was all there was to it. Trotting after him, danger was quick to follow. It took him first and with the book always on your person, you swiftly drew a glyph in the ground. Creating a few more and dragging the guard back to the ship, he panted out his panic. And what you actually did.
"That...that was magic. I think. Picto - Picture - I don't know that part is hard to distinguish in the book." "That...that was kinda amazing...how did you-!"
Another wave of danger came and you drew another glyph onto ground. The guard steered the damaged ship to safety while you threw every trick you had up your sleeve. Finally arriving close to the castle in safety, your companion caught his breath and approached you.
"How...how did you do that? I thought humans can't put any spells on anything! I've never seen magic casted like that before!"
You can't help but smile slightly, seeing him genuinely flustered. Seems like he wasn't really this all-knowing teacher.
"I just copied what was in the book...it's easier than you think." Yet at that moment, your heart dropped. Someone as inquisitive as the Golden Guard who is still your captor even if he doesn't see himself in that way, would then want nothing more than to look into your book. You caught him reaching out for it before he stopped.
"Wait...those were various magic spells used from all kinds of covens...wild magic. You can't use that." You raised a brow and pressed the book further into you and away from him. "Why not? It's just usual magic, isn't it?" "You don't understand," He sounded serious despite being roughed up, "Of course you human wouldn't understand. You could get hurt if you aren't careful. Wild magic can..."
Retracting his hand, a sigh escaped him and he halted for a few moments. You weren't sure what he'd do next.
"...I am not giving you the book."
"You should! In fact, you gotta if you don't want to end up hurt!"
"These spells saved us! I saved you!"
Your glare soured again into a small frown. You took a step back and looked up at him, lips pressed into a thin line. You didn't really wanted to have him as an enemy.
You didn't want anyone to be an enemy. You didn't want to be here.
"I'm not fond of this magic either, Golden Guard, but I've got to use them. If I don't, I won't survive. If I didn't use this book back when I first got here and just now, I wouldn't have survived this place at all."
The guy was unusually silent. Only the flat breaths hitting his mask filling the silence.
Finally, he spoke up just as soft as you.
"...Why did you save me anyway?"
You rose a brow. You could understand where he came from with that question...but it still came out of nowhere. "Why wouldn't I?"
"Because you have no reason to. I...I am your host and you are welcome in the castle but you...you still didn't have a reason..." He trailed off for a second before starting again, "You could have steered the ship and got yourself back to safety. You could've left me behind."
Again, you only looked at him puzzled. "...Why would I?"
You stared at each other in silence.
- Before you broke it with nervous laughter. "I don't know how it is with you but from where I come from we...don't usually do that. You needed help and I could help you with these glyphs," You pointed at the book, "So, I helped you. I...couldn't just abandon you, Golden Guard."
The second wave of silence that ensued truly made your nervousness rocket.
A breath was taken, as if he had held it the entire time he was staring at you, and with it let out mumbles under his breath. "That's...so weird." With an unsure gait he passed by you, grabbed your wrist and lead the both of you to the castle.
Without looking back he adressed you with his usual stern voice. "I will not be confiscating the book. But I want to know what other forms of wild magic you can do...for research and safety. I won't tell Emperor Belos anything of what happened today."
The days grew less mundane at least, beside the one misadventure.
The Golden Guard visited you more often with more interesting intentions. You shared with what you were comfortable with and though it did annoy him at times, he found this new information more than helpful. You discussed many variants of magic and his excitment of the topic was quite infectious (but you'd never tell him that). In turn, he showed more around the castle and introduced you to many things but would not take you with him outside the castle barriers.
He still did not thank you for saving his life. It seemed he did not know how.
But you've come to grown to his company and vice versa.

Hello! It's me again – your fan! Nothing difficult today. How would Raphael answer if Tav accused him of jealous of us(Tav) towards Emperor during the dialogue in the Devil's Den?
Have a nice day!
Heyo!
Apologies, I don't have time to do anything more! Will be out all day!
______
Raph/Tav(You) GN
______
"You're jealous."
Raphael blinks at you. His hand moves to press against his chest, miming a gesture that seems to ask, "me?" He scoffs.
"Jealously does not become the devil. But what a dear creature you are to value yourself so highly. No, I am merely concerned for my asset. For my friend."
You smile. The way his lips curl downwards says it irritates him.
"Far be it from me," he continues. "To point out the obvious ravine in your path, when you've already demonstrated a propensity for falling into every pothole you come across. The Emperor intends to use you, little mouse."
"And you're worried!"
He pinches the bridge of his nose. "That you will sell yourself to a lesser suitor? Perhaps so. You've set your asking price so astonishingly low..."
You rock back on your heels, lower lip caught between your teeth. Raphael favors you with a withering look.
"I've half a mind to flay the skin off your lovely face when you look at me look that."
"You wouldn't. You care too much."
And oh, it's taking your own fool life into your own fool hands. Raphael chuckles, dark and low, stepping near enough for you to feel the unnatural heat radiating from his frame. He hooks one finger under your chin. "Do I, pet?" His fingers sweep back across your cheek. A small gesture in the grand scheme of things, but intimate enough to make something in your head scream in elation. Or warning. "Now that, my dear, is a dangerous game. Shall we make a wager?"

Jason Todd Canon Lore Stuff:
@jashjdh Ask and you shall receive! :D this is sort of part 2 to this post of mine, where I did the same thing for Dick Grayson. Here, since there are so many comics and so much conflicting lore, I read the fandom . com entry for the character and then type out the most important bits of what I learned, both to help myself remember it, and to teach others ^w^
!TW for Batman-like things, such as spoilers, mentions of injury and death, a brief mentions of drug use, a brief mention of sewerslide and r(😬)e, etc)!
•To begin with, a lot of people argue "Jason is the angry Robin!" Or, "Jason ISN'T the angry Robin!" I think for the most part, this misunderstanding happens because originally, Jason was a very calm kid. In his original appearances he had a similar backstory to Dick Grayson(Being an acrobat in the circus) and was much more chill, however in the post-crisis revamp, he became more violent and troubled. In the words of the wiki, "the post-Crisis Jason is impulsive, reckless, and full of rage."
•Jason lived a troubled childhood, with his father being a petty crook. His dad at one point served a jail sentence for his crimes, but even once he got out of jail, he never came back to the family. This left Jason alone, taking care of his drug-addicted mother. He would rip and remove the parts from cars around the city, selling them for cash to make sure they were fed and clothed. His mother eventually died from an overdose so he took to the streets, continuing to take apart cars for cash.
•One night he came upon the Batmobile parked in an alleyway. Batman had just replaced the tires, but had not yet put on his new custom hubcaps. Jason took this opportunity to snag the tires, and managed to get one and out of there before he came back for a second tire. This is when Batman caught him, hence the iconic interaction of him throwing his tire iron at Bruce and calling him a 'big boob' as he ran away.
•Batman tried putting Jason in a boarding school for troubled kids, however this didn't work out either because the owner of the school was actually running a program to train young criminals. When Batman busted the criminal operation, he decided that perhaps Jason's anger could be used for crime fighting, so he took him in because he was worried that if he didn't, Jason would become a criminal. While Jason wasn't an acrobat like Dick, he was strong, and had lots of skills from his time on the streets.
•On their first official mission together, though, it was revealed that Two-Face had killed Jason's father. Despite the fact that Jason's father had abandoned him, he was still enraged by this and he went on a rampage. However, he showed restraint when he allowed Two-Face to be arrested instead of killing him, which made Bruce very proud.
•As much as Jason was a good, enthusiastic student, he was also a very troubled one. His time on the streets had raised him with a tilted sense of morals, and with the tendency to lash out and get violent when threatened because of his street survival instincts. Because of this, Jason often had the opposite ideals and morals to his mentor. He tended to use excessive force when trying to stop criminals, such as how in one adventure he was asked to 'hold off' some villains, and he immediately shot at them despite Bruce's dislike of using guns.
•The most notable of these times was on the case of Felipe Garzonasa, a man who had r(😬)ed a woman, an event that led to her sewerslide. Jason tracked this guy down, and moments after Jason arrived, Felipe fell to his death off of his apartment balcony. While it was never confirmed nor denied, it's fairly possible that Jason pushed Garzonasa off, breaking Batman's no kill rule. (We love a man who respects women ✊)
•Bruce was so afraid that Jason was going to possibly kill someone, either intentionally or with his reckless actions, that he called Barbara Gordon and asked her to work a case with Jason, in an attempt to figure him out. They did work together, however Barbara could come up with no real way to help him, and simply warned Bruce that there was 'a darkness in Jason'.
•Jason eventually discovers that his mother was not actually his biological mother, so he runs away from home on a mission to find his real mom. He follows lots of leads, but eventually ends up in Ethiopia, finding his bio mother Sheila, working as an aid worker. He's incredibly happy to be reunited with his real mom, but he soon discovers that Sheila is being blackmailed by the Joker, being forced to supply him with medical treatment. Sheila herself has been embezzling funds from the agency, and to keep from getting caught, she directly hands Jason over to the Joker who brutally beats him with a crowbar and leaves him and Sheila in a warehouse with a bomb. Batman is unable to save them on time, and both of them perish in the explosion. Bruce is obviously devastated (and starts going crazy because of this a bit later on), and the bodies are both buried in Gotham City with the cause of death on Jason's death certificate being labeled 'smoke inhalation'.
•Jason is dead for at least a decade, his memory constantly haunting Bruce as his 'greatest failure', keeping Jason's Robin suit on display in the Batcave. Bruce begins to spiral over the thoughts that he himself had failed to train Jason properly, and that he had also failed to save Jason from the Joker. (Personal opinion, I don't know if I actually blame Bruce for 'Not saving Jason in time'? Because the way the wiki framed it, it made it seem like Jason ran away and didn't tell anyone that he was going to do this, plus I don't know how Bruce would've known that the Joker was blackmailing Sheila to begin with? Idk, maybe I'm missing some context here)
•Many years later, while Bruce is fighting with Hush, Tim gets kidnapped. When he confront the kidnapped it ends up being 'Jason', but it turns out that this version of Jason isn't Jason at all, and is just Clayface pretending to be Jason.
•Superboy-Prime, trapped in the Paradise Dimension, alters reality. This shift results in Jason's revival, as he's once again given life. He breaks his way out of his own coffin with his bare hands, and drags himself 12 miles before eventually collapsing (since he still has many lasting injuries from the Joker's beating). He's found at some point and hospitalized, where he stays in a coma for a full year, and even when he awakens he has amnesia. At some point he's recognized by a petty criminal, who informs Talia. Talia brings him to the Lazarus Pit, where she immerses him in the water where her father Ra's is also bathing. This restores Jason's memories and his physical health, however it's implied that the Pit's energy + Ah-Gul's energy messed with his mind and personality (Though it's always possible that these changes really just came from his trauma)
•Jason Todd takes up the mantle of Red Hood, and returns to Gotham City.
•Jason goes to find the Joker (who had been run out of town by Hush), and gives him a beating with a crowbar just as the Joker did to him, though he keeps the Joker alive to use him against Batman later on. He also assumes the control of several gangs, and starts a mini war against the Black Mask criminal empire. His general plan is to clean up the cities violence and drug dealings(probably because he doesn't want anyone to end up like his non-bio mother), as well as kill the Joker for revenge. Because of his intense and violent methods, he has many brushes with Batman. It's around this time that Bruce finds a Robin mask in the Batmobile, one that never belonged to Dick or Tim, but looked like a mask in the style of Jason's old Robin costume. He also realized at this time that Jason's coffin is empty, and that's when he starts to believe that Jason may have genuinely come back from the dead.
•Jason, hearing that Tim had replaced him and was supposedly a 'better Robin' then him, he got angry and broke into the Titan tower to confront him. Wearing a newer version of his own Robin costume, Jason makes quick work of immobilizing the other Titans. He was absolutely furious that there was no memorial for him in the Hall of Fallen Titans (Despite the fact that he was only a Titan for a very short time), Jason demands Tim tell him if he was really as good of a Robin as Jason himself was, and Tim stubbornly says 'Yes' before he passes out. As Jason is leaving the tower, he rips the 'R' logo from Tim's costume. However, it's revealed in the epilogue of that comic that Jason actually holds some respect for Tim now, begrudgingly saying an "I'll admit. He's good." As he ponders how he could've been a better Robin had he acted more like Tim.
•At some point Jason kidnaps the Joker and uses him to lure Bruce to Crime Alley, where they had first met all those years ago. Jason is of course angry that Bruce never 'properly avenged' him by killing the Joker, since Jason believed that Bruce would because the Joker had "Taken me away from you". Bruce explains that it would've been easy for him to kill the Joker, that he continuously fantasized about taking the Joker away, torturing him and eventually killing him, but that he wasn't willing to cross that line (Partially because he wasn't willing to stain the memories he had of Jason [that he clung so tightly to while losing his sanity] with blood). Jason decides on a deal. Either Bruce kills him, or he will kill the Joker. So he holds one gun to the Joker's head and gives the other to Bruce, counting to three. However Bruce, obviously not wanting to kill Jason but also not wanting Jason to commit this crime, uses a Batarang to cut down an object that ends up slicing Jason's throat. The Joker uses this time to detonate some explosives and plunge both of them into the waters. (I don't even know what to say about this part, I have a lot of opinions here. I will say though, I think that if Tim hadn't become Robin, Bruce might've legitimately killed the Joker.)
•Jason shows up again after about a year, now as an evil version of Nightwing. Jason uses this costume to taunt Dick, suggesting the two become a crime fighting team, but Dick refuses because he doesn't want to be associated with Jason's violent methods. Not long after, Jason is kidnapped by unknown mobsters. Dick, albeit hesitantly, saves him, and they team up to defeat the Pierce brothers. After the fight Jason leaves New York and drops the Nightwing mantle, leaving Dick a telegraph that says he has returned to normal, and that he still considers Dick family.
•Jason's kidnaps a girl named Mia, wanting to convert her to his side since they both had somewhat similar pasts and he feels they're kindred spirits. She refuses, so he blows up her high school. (WTF JASON???? 😭)
•I dunno how to explain this one too much, but basically he went on a mission with a Monitor that he called Bob? And he met an alternate reality version of Batman, who had started killing after Jason's death.. And then the Darkseid thing happens and Batman 'dies', which makes Jason absolutely furious (Because he cares about Bruce despite not agreeing with the way that he handled things back when he died).
•Jason, back as Red Hood, tries to take control of some gang wars to calm things down, but it actually makes things worse. Since Batman is supposed to be dead, and Nightwing is unavailable, Tim is the one who has to help clean up the mess. Jason asks to team up, but Tim refuses because of Jason's questionable methods. Due to a combination of some things, Jason gets shot in the leg and arrested. When the gang war is resolved, Tim stops by the prison Jason was in, using a disguise and a fake name to deliver Jason the code that will let him out of his cell because he believes Jason deserves a chance at redemption.
•After his escape Jason is summoned to the Batcave, where he is brought in to hear his part of Bruce's Last Will and Testament for him(Y'know, since Bruce is supposedly dead lmao). He listens to Bruce's final piece as he talks about out of all his failures, Jason was his biggest, and how he regretted not getting Jason actual help or showing much empathy over him hardships, instead dressing him up and having him fight. Unfortunately this heartfelt message is what makes Jason fully snap.
•Jason began dressing up in a Batman-like outfit, leaving slips of paper saying 'I AM BATMAN' where he worked, however he used much more aggressive and lethal forms of punishment on the criminals he fought. Due to the violent nature of his vigilantism, Nightwing and Damian are after the fake Batman. Dick figures put pretty quickly that the imposter Batman is Jason, and after an argument, Jason shoots Damian. Tim is also searching for the fake Batman at this time, dressing up as Batman as well to demonstrate how Bruce would've really acted. Tim finds Jason's fake Batcave, but has to be saved from a boobytrap by Catwoman. Jason returns to his 'cave' and finds them there, impaling Tim with a Batarang. Dick and Jason fight, with Jason thinking and claiming that Tim is dead, while Damian and the Squire are actually busy saving Tim. Dick kicks Jason off a moving train, but when he tries to pull Jason back up to safety(Because he still considers him family, just as Jason does him), Jason refuses his help and falls to his 'death', while claiming they'll meet again soon. This is when Dick becomes Batman.
•When Jason returned, having survived the fall, he decided to become direct competition to Batman and Robin, making it his mission to get to all of the criminals before them and become the new Gotham Hero. He even got his own sidekick, a girl named Scarlet. Jason was very public about this, posting things on social media, talking about how killing the villains was the best way to do it, and a lot of people actually agreed. At one point Jason kidnapped Dick and Damian, locked them up and stripped them both naked(😰), claiming online that if the post got enough attention, he'd reveal Batman and Robin's secret identities. However his plan was interrupted by an assassin names Flamingo, that he and Scarlet weren't strong enough to beat. Dick and Damian escaped and saved them from death, though Damian got pretty seriously injured.. Jason just ran Flamingo over with a truck- Jason was taken into police custody and as they took him away, he claimed that if the Lazarus Pit could revive him, why couldn't it revive Bruce too?
•After Bruce's revival, Jason files an appeal to Arkham Asylum, wanting to be released because the tests show that he's perfectly sane, just willing to kill. He ends up being transferred to a Gotham prison, where as soon as he arrives, the sewerslide rates spike and there are several homicides(Though these mainly occurred in self defense from Red Hood killing people in the prison who attempt to kill him first). On top of this, Jason poisons the food and kills 82 inmates, making 100 more sick. He's immediately taken back to Arkham Asylum, but is quickly broken out by some mercenaries. Jason breaks free from the mercenaries and fights them off as Batman and Robin arrive. At the end of this mission, Red Hood and Scarlet escape in a helicopter, warning Bruce and Damian not to chase them because he planted bombs all over the city months ago, and he's willing to detonate them. Dick doesn't do anything about, deciding that Jason was lying about the bombs, and that even if Jason decides to do better he'll only rejoin the family when he's ready to.
•Jason, trying to reform, forms his own hero team called the Outlaws. He changes the red symbol on his chest to a bat, a sign of his somewhat awkward but slowly-beginning-to get-back-on even-ground relationship with the Batfamily. The costume he now wears also used to belong to Dick. His relationship with Tim is now at least neutral, if not a little friendly, as the two can be seen eating together and making some jokes. However his relationship with Bruce is still strained, and a bit hostile. While he keeps his aggressive and lethal style of fighting, he now only uses it when he believes necessary, and doesn't always shoot the second he sees a problem.
•At some point his team disappears, and he goes back to being a solo hero.
Extra Fun Fact! Because of the Lazarus Pit, Jason no longer ages and he heals much much faster then a normal human!
TAADAA! I might do more if I get the motivation ^w^

Some of Sariel Noir's best quotes
Tumblr media
"Know that this devil will stake his life on your pure heart, your wise gaze, and your fierce resolve."
"There is something I wish to protect, even if it means selling my soul to the true devil himself, and burning for all eternity in the fires of hell."
"Do you realize who you resemble, when you act in that manner?" (—Sariel to Emma acting like him)
"Rio, what in the world makes you think she could be in a flower vase? Calm yourself." (—Sariel talking about Emma to Rio while they're looking for her)
"There is no harm in sucking up to me."
"You have always been courageous, determined to put your emotions aside and process things logically whenever possible. And I certainly consider it a desirable trait to possess. But too much has happened this evening, and I imagine you're well past the limit of what you can tolerate. I do not mind if you need to prioritize how you are feeling right now."
"If you ever refer to me like that again, I must warn you that you may not see the next sunrise." (—Sariel to Gilbert calling him 'Daddy')
"At last I've found you. (...) I imagine a little discipline will go a long way with you... hehe..."
"It would seem you have a lot of confidence in your ability to remember things. (...) ...I am simply wondering whether you ought not be taking notes. While it's true books can be reread, much of the information I am sharing with you is not written down anywhere. As such, you may find it useful to write things down so that you may review them later."
"So long as the kingdom and its people exist, our noble beasts will give everything they have to protect it. As you know, they have very different ideologies, and they are a problematic lot, but... on this one matter alone, almost all of them can be trusted." (—Sariel talking about the Rhodolitian princes to Emma)
"It's a basic right. Everyone needs time to rest and relax, no matter who they are."
"I'm fond of those who are wise—regardless of gender."
"I'm talking about the creature that says 'squeak squeak' and begins with the letter R. I cannot even put that filthy word in my mouth." (—Sariel talking about rats)
"(...) Prince Gilbert, rude though it may be of me to ask, perhaps you would be kind enough to vanish for the time being?"
"There probably aren't many ladies that would be able to approach Prince Gilbert." (—Sariel talking in front of Emma, Keith, Silvio, Rio and Gilbert)
"...Now, now. I am a man, you are a woman, and we're all alone in your bedroom at night. How might you want this scenario to end?"
"To say that I'm relieved to have you beside me is an understatement." (—Sariel's lobby dialogue)
"(...) I did feel some murderous intent in the cane, however." (—Sariel to Gilbert pointing his cane at him)
"Dear Prince Clavis, (...) Apparently you made a child bawl in the middle of town? Please act your age. (...) There have been complaints that people who got wet because of you were close to catching colds because of it. It's winter. Please do not be using water or ice. This is not an invitation to make traps using fire. *NO MICE. The next time I see any, I will put them in a bag along with you and send it down the river. I have warned you." (—Sariel's letter to Clavis)
"...Prostate himself? (...) ...Ahh, I see. Wonderful, I shall have to make the hellcat do it the next time I get the chance." (—Sariel talking about Clavis to Rio)
"You damned hellcat—" (—Sariel to Clavis)
"I do not know what choice you will make going forward, but... For as long as you are able, do not let each other go. Especially because you love each other. It makes no difference whether you are a prince or a commoner. A person needs someone to love in order to remain human. I learned this after witnessing what happened to His Majesty." (—Sariel to Rio)
"What on earth are you doing curled up so disgracefully on the floor like that, Dog?" (—Sariel to Rio)
"(...) At that time, Clavis was the most innocent and childlike of the princes. I had to admit that I was easily swayed by his sweet grin. He took a keen interest in anything and everything, and he had a strong drive. Clavis was the student—well, disciple—I shared most of my knowledge with." (—Sariel's thoughts about young Clavis)
"Which do you like better, spending time with me like this, or spending time reading a book?"
"You are right, it would be tactless of me to speak ill of you when you are present. I shall wait until you are absent, and then I will be free to speak as much ill of you as I wish." (—Sariel to Clavis)
"(...) I'm the one who taught Prince Nokto and Prince Licht how to use their swords."
"I wonder how many times he and I have shared a drink now. I remembered the times where instead of amber-colored wine, there was water or milk in the cups in front of us. We had been partaking in these laidback meetings ever since we were both young. They were an absolute necessity for us." (—Sariel's thoughts about Jin)
"(...) You misunderstand me. I don't hate the man, I despise him." (—Sariel talking about Clavis to Emma)
"Now, now. Don't be so sullen. Another fundamental aspect of training someone is to make them want something but never completely satisfy them."
"I also despise hellcats, miscreants, oh, and the Third Prince." (—Sariel talking about Clavis)
"If you do, I'm not nursing you back to health." (—Sariel to Rio telling him he might faint because of how beautiful Emma is)
"(...) Since Emma isn't available to praise you, shall I do the honors instead?" (—Sariel to Rio)
"Hehe, I'm never going to let you run away from this palace of beasts. Will you continue to allow them, and myself, to enjoy your company to the fullest?"
"My hobby is teasing those who are worth teasing, such as yourself. Think of it as an honor that you met my expectations." (—Sariel's lobby dialogue)
"In that instance, I was considering binding Emma's arms behind her back and dumping her in the river. Hehe, naturally, I am joking. I have absolute confidence in my judge of character." (—Sariel talking about Emma potentially failing his test to Rio and Emma)
"I have one more order for you, if that's all right. (...) I'd like you to have a drink with me like this every now and then."
"(...) if it is to be a competition, perhaps I shall take part as well." (—Sariel reacting to Luke saying he would steal Emma away)
"The princes were all very excited when they discovered that today is your birthday. Happy birthday." (—Sariel's lobby dialogue)
"You allowed yourself to get so close to her that rumors began circulating that she was your mistress. Did you keep Belle at your side even knowing it would have no benefit for you?" (—Sariel to Chevalier)
"Prince Chevalier's faction are perhaps a little too free-willed, and at times the ache in my—"
"Consider it one of the perks of being Belle. You are permitted to keep a pet at the palace. (...) This is your pet, is it not? When I entered the bookstore, it started barking non-stop, so I had no choice but to bring it with me." (—Sariel talking about Rio to Emma)
"Hmm? Is something the matter? I can't imagine why you're blushing. Careful now, or you really will get eaten."
"Don't worry. It doesn't matter what kind of noise you make. If anyone overhears and finds fault with you, this devil of a man will take care of it. So please, won't you allow me to hear every last sweet sound?"

Thoughts on Live Action Avatar: TLA
I'm sure people are going to hate this. Some for valid reasons. Some because of endless nitpicking that really has no bearing on how good or bad it actually was. Some because they have already chosen to hate it and it's just a self-fulfilling prophecy.
But I always root for things to be good. I want them to succeed. And I always go into everything I watch with the hope and expectation it will be good. I turn off my critical brain and try to just experience the show for what it is. As I said, I saw no trailers. I read no reviews. I knew almost nothing about the production of this going in.
Initially, things were rough... buddy.
And I think that is a longstanding problem with live action TV shows in general. I am always reminded of Star Trek TNG and how it took two seasons (48 episodes) before they figured out what the hell they were doing. Back then shows were able to find their footing and grow and learn. Actors were given time to find their characters and understand them and finally become them.
But now, every show has to be amazing from the start or they get cancelled. And I think people have become very unforgiving of first seasons as well. I feel like not enough people consider the potential of something getting better. And I think that is a shame.
So, yes, Avatar started out rough. They tried to cram all of the exposition into the first 20 minutes. And that was unpleasant. The effects were jarring at first. It is incredibly difficult to translate animation into live action. And please don't say the CGI was "bad." It wasn't. There was just so much that needed to be packed into every frame of this show to make it work, and finding a way to make it all seamlessly blend is a monumental task. I think the artists did an amazing job with the constraints of essentially making an 8 hour movie in the time usually given a 2 hour one.
But as the show continued, the actors seemed more comfortable in their roles. The showrunners seemed to figure out what worked and what didn't. The quality across the board started to improve. Especially when they started to deviate a little bit from following the cartoon. I also noticed that the effects that were jarring in the beginning eventually stopped bothering me and breaking immersion. I got used to them and was able to just focus on the story. And I think they got a little better as well. The bending was much more convincing as the show progressed. And it was a bajillion times better than the slow-motion bending of that movie that shall not be named.
And by the final episode, I was all in. The Avatar monster was really cool. And I was crying my eyes out and having all kinds of emotions. And there were some changes they made to the story which I actually thought made more sense. And I was glad this show was doing a few things to differentiate rather than being an exact carbon copy.
It won me over.
And I know it won't do that for everyone. And perhaps I am forgiving a lot of sins just because I wanted it to be good. The original was my absolute favorite show of all time. I just liked spending time with these characters again.
But I liked it more than I didn't and I'm hoping that is the general consensus, but I fear that is not the case.
Things I really liked...
I thought the actor playing Sokka was really great. They didn't give him enough humorous material. But I think this kid absolutely nailed the role. And if this gets another season, I do hope he can show Sokka's lighter side a bit more.
Ken Leung also did amazing as Zhao. I think he surpassed his cartoon counterpart in villainy. I loved hating him.
The final battle was beautiful. I think they probably dedicated a lot of resources to that. Maybe at the expense of other things. But I think it was worth it to end strong.
In the first season of the cartoon, the trauma was often skipped over or kept very brief. I'm sure the idea of dealing with genocide and war time trauma was not an easy sell to Nickelodeon initially. But they did actually take the time to show some of that trauma, especially with Katara and Sokka. And I cried a bunch.
They seemed to go to considerable effort to have a diverse cast. I am glad they learned that lesson from the movie.
That said, they probably could have brought back Dee Bradley Baker to make the animal noises. This might have been an overcorrection...
Tumblr media
I guess this will give the anti-wokesters something to complain about since the original was already super woke and it is probably a challenge to complain about the new thing being woke as well. Though I'm sure they are up to the challenge.
Things I didn't care for...
The compressed timeline caused a few stories to be combined and accelerated. I understand why that was necessary. But there were some important moments of character growth that got lost.
Sokka's missing sexism. I think it is much more useful to see someone grow and change and let go of their problematic traits than to pretend that never existed. Sokka's sexism was a symbol of the conservative views within water tribe culture in general. It was also foreshadowing for the conflict with Pakku (which was also minimized). I just think young viewers seeing a character overcome ingrained ideals has a greater influence than just erasing that aspect from the character.
Things I hated...
Princess Yue's hair. You get the amazing Amber Midthunder to play Yue, and she does an amazing job with extremely abbreviated screen time, but I couldn't stop staring at whatever that was they put on her noggin. I know I criticized people for nitpicking, but that was very distracting. I don't know exactly how it could have been done better, but I worry a great performance is going to get overshadowed by... hair.
In conclusion...
I think the people making this show loved the source material. I can see that love. I think they tried very hard to make the best show possible. And I also know they are probably going to get a lot of hate. I still haven't looked at the reviews because I didn't want to be influenced when writing this. But I can feel the review bombing as we speak.
But this was not a Witcher situation where the writers didn't respect the source material. This was displaying how incredibly difficult it is to convert one of the most beautifully animated shows in existence into live action. Maybe that is an argument for not making live action versions. Though I usually love them when they work and am happy both versions exist.
I really hope people can remember the original still exists and they can completely disregard this and watch the cartoon any time they wish. This doesn't have to "ruin their childhood." These two things can exist and everyone is perfectly capable of ignoring all of the live action material.
But I do hope this gets another season. I think that final episode showed the potential. I think the cast was getting comfortable in their roles and they deserve another chance to show what they can do.
I love Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and I think he was a great choice for Iroh. But Mako's shoes are probably the biggest shoes in the existence of shoes to try and fill. I do not envy the task he was given. But every once in a while I saw that Mako spirit come out in his performance and I think he could use another season to really find that and show us what he is capable of.
This felt a lot like The Phantom Menace to me. There was actually a ton of amazing stuff to love in that movie. But it didn't quite work the way the original movies did. But I think this was good enough to hope for the future.

✎ᝰ ❛ HOW TO LEAD A SIMPLE LIFE GUIDE BY A RANDOM PERSON IN THE EDO PERIOD ❜ — dazai osamu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ੈ✩‧₊˚ featuring. samurai dazai osamu x farmer gn reader.
.ೃ࿐ WARNINGS ! gender neutral reader. you/your and they/they pronouns is used. Petnames is used (my angel). — not proofread ( 900 words. )
content. You lead a simple life in a simple village. Tending the wet fields, going on fishing on sometimes to earn a living. That is until you see a wandering samurai faint middle of the day that your life became not so simple.
A simple life is what you have always had in this time of edo. Going to the paddies and working out in the sun. Selling and making any kind of living you can earn enough so that you can live another day. Although in the middle of the day as you were about to take lunch after working all day in the fields there you saw a man. Brunette hair was everywhere, face planted in the dirt, whole body not moving.
You worriedly walked up to him shaking his body, “s- sir? sir? Are you alright?” you try to wake him up and ask if everything was fine and yet he did not do a single move. Then, there you noticed the katana that was put on the side of his hip. ‘A samurai?’ you thought but then looked at him, ‘but he doesn't wear samurai's armor… perhaps a wandering samurai?’ you looked at him worriedly sighing. 'Still it's bad to be someone laying on the ground in this heat.’ you say looking up at the sky feeling the great heat of the sun.
Thus the reason why you slowly took his hand and carried his unconscious body to your simple home. Putting him in your futon and begin to prepare water to wash off any dirt placed on his face. Seeing his face you sigh worriedly, putting your hand on his forehead checking his temperature. “Are you even okay—” before you could even utter any word you were cut off by the said unconscious man a few minutes ago gripping your wrist glaring at you. His guard fully up as your eyes widened, smiling, “you're okay! thank god, I thought you weren't well, maybe I should call the doctor, are you okay?”
He looked at you eyes widen as his eyes soften, “oh~ my angel, the light to my darkness! thank you for saving me from my death's door, thank you I feel grateful,” he says in an over exaggerated tone as he takes your rough hands due from the work you have on the fields with his other rougher hands from the battles he has faced. “Uhmmm… do you need a doctor?” you asked him. Completely baffles at his audacity to intertwine your hands together after he just passed out for a few minutes under the raging sun. Is he okay?
He shakes his head, “no my belladonna, I only need your gentle hands on me and I shall be healed from any injury,” you sigh at him. What an eccentric samurai. This must be one of those flirty and cheating samurai's your neighbors said to watch out for. Nevertheless you still welcome him in, “okay, then are you hungry? Although I might not provide much—”
“Nonsense my angel! just seeing you—” he was cut off by his stomach rumbling you sigh, “I'll go get some rice,” he grins at you, his eyes sparkling. Though as you were getting up from sitting you looked at him, “ah wait, what's your name?” you asked him tilting your head as he smiled at you, “dazai osamu but I don't mind going by as the love of your life,” he smirked proudly at this as you make a face at him.
“Then dazai-san, I'll get going for now, rest your body must be tired. I'll call the doctor in a few minutes please wait a minute,” You say as you get your feet working to get something to him. The brunette haired man smiling and looking at your every move.
You fed him some rice and fish since that was the only thing that was available at your disposal. Then went to the village doctor to check on his health. Once the doctor said he was okay and only just had a mild heat stroke during the afternoon. Which made you sigh in relief.
“See my angel I'm okay,” you smiled at his words. Maybe he was getting on you, “well if you say so, I'll continue work for now please rest. I don't want anyone fainting in the middle of the day,” with that you began your usual work on the fields. You thought that maybe after a day of resting at your place. The random wandering samurai would leave but he seems to be…following you.
You looked at him weirdly as you stopped walking as he too stopped walking behind you. “Dazai-san?” he cocked his head to the side as you looked at him weirdly. “Uhmm… why are you following me?” he smiles at you, “why not?”
“Aren't you gonna go away?”
He gasps, “my angel are you saying you don't love me?!” you panicked at this, your whole body flinching as you tried to make up something, any word out of your lips, “h- hey! wait- no that's not what I meant!” dazai giggles as he pats your head.
“I'm only teasing you,” you pouted glaring at the brunette haired man, “that’s unfair and mean,” he chuckles at this.
“I can't help it my little angel,”
“I'm no angel dazai-san,”
“Well you are to me,"
You sigh, feeling defeat, “I'll go continue my work,” his eyes perked up as he smiles similar to a Cheshire cat, “I want to help too!”
“Dazai-san you don't even know how to farm,” you rebutted as he pouts, “I can learn!”
“no,”
“yes!”
"no,"
"I wanna help!"
"still no"
"pleaaaaaseee?"
You sigh seeing how persistent this random samurai saved him. Maybe you shouldn't have saved him after all, “fine.”
You have a feeling that this is gonna be a long day.

FFXIVwrite2024 Day 1: Steer
Tumblr media
WoL x Nero 534 words Domestic Fluff
Tumblr media
“Bolt.”
Severia plucked the requisite article from the tray of the tool box and placed it in Nero’s outstretched palm.
“Nut.”
She performed the procedure again and watched Nero’s arm disappear back underneath the Red Baron. It was time for the Baron’s annual maintenance (assuming it hadn’t needed maintenance before a year had passed, which was rare) and rather than invading a lingering Castrum to perform the operation (as they had last year), this time Nero had taken the time to build himself a huge repair installation in the yard of their new house in the Lavender Beds. (It had, naturally, required invading multiple Castrums to obtain all the materials, but he insisted it would save them time in the future.)
Severia wasn’t thrilled about it. The thing was huge and stood out like a giant Magitek construction in their otherwise peaceful and pleasantly arranged yard. And seeing it out of the corner of her eye when she was trying to enjoy her rock garden was perhaps not conducive to the serenity she was attempting to cultivate. But he had just been so incredibly excited about it.  And Twelve knew she was incapable of resisting him when he got like that.
Nero emerged from the underside of the Red Baron futilely wiping his hands on an already grease stained rag. Her eyes were quickly drawn to the satisfied grin on his likewise grease stained face.
“Finished?”
“Indeed.” He tossed the rag over his shoulder and stood back to survey his handiwork. “Good as new. Better, in fact. Shall we go for a joyride?”
“You do realize you’re absolutely filthy, right?”
He turned to her and smirked. “You’ve some rather adorable smudges yourself.”
Severia’s hands shot to her face.
“No, you’re just making it worse,” he told her with a chuckle. Nero grabbed her wrist and pulled her against him. And then booped her on the nose, laughing when her face scrunched up. “How about you steer yourself upstairs and run a bath for us. I’ll join you as soon as I’ve shut down the station.”
Severia couldn’t help her own smile. Soaking in the tub together was one of her favorite things. “All right.”
“And thank you for your help.”
“I hardly did anything.”
“Ridiculous. Having to emerge every time I need a new tool or part is the most tedious and frustrating part of repair work. And you never make a mistake. You always know what I need.”
“Well, it’s all very meticulously labeled.”
“Don’t sell yourself short, Darling.” He leaned down and bumped their noses together. “You know how I feel about that.”
“Sorry,” she said and truly meant it. He was always going out of his way to show his appreciation for her. Perhaps because he knew how it felt to not be appreciated and he never wanted her to feel that way. “I enjoyed helping.”
Which was true. She loved being able to help him. And she loved watching him happily working and humming to himself.
“All right then,” Nero said and gave her a quick pat on the behind. “Off to the bath with you.”
“Don’t be long.”
“And miss the part where you take your shirt off? Never.”

04 . . . main story
— the first three chapters are translated already by @.celiciaa; you can view them here.

— cw: mentioned character death.
Alfons: Though using my ability to temporarily deceive an innocent young girl does have its charm...
A: Perhaps you may find some blue poppies in Elbie’s room?
Kate: Eh?
Alfons: Though I may be mistaken, I seem to recall there being a pressed flower in a frame before.
A: It may do you well to search around that junk of a room tomorrow sometime?
At Alfons’ suggestion, Lord Elbert raised a hand to his chin as if deep in thought.
Elbert: ...If Al says so, there may be one in my room.
Kate: Really...!?
Elbert: Shall we look for it there?
Kate: Yes, please...!
(If we can give her an actual blue poppy, I’m sure Daisy will be delighted.)
If there was a chance it could be found, there was no reason not to try.
Alfons: To think the day would come when you pay attention to the things you toss and leave into your room... I truly don’t understand you, Lord Elbert.
(Lord Elbert’s room...)
—— Flashback ——
Alfons: Things that don’t suit Elbert’s taste end up being left there to collect dust, making something of a mess in his room.
A: So I end up selling them on my own accord.
Kate: I-is it really okay to do it on your own accord?
Elbert: ...I don’t mind.
E: Because, I don’t have any interest in something that... is not beautiful.
—— End flashback ——
(So it’s a room full of things that are ‘not beautiful’?)
(...Just what kind of room is that?)
Alfons: Hehe, by all means, please search around very thoroughly together.
Elbert: You’re not helping, Al?
Alfons: Why, of course not! You knew from the start, no?
A: That I detest doing physical labor like that.
The next day.
Elbert: Here... come in.
Kate: Yes, pardon... me...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Upon stepping foot into Lord Elbert’s room, my mind went blank for a while.
(So the ‘having no interest’ part was true...)
Pretty butterfly specimens, beautiful stuffed birds, oil paintings and ceramics, jewelries...
There were luxury goods that seemed dazzling to me as well; it wouldn’t be strange if they were displayed in art museums.
It was a strange scene indeed, seeing the clutter.
(There are so many things in his room... but, it seems a little lonely.)
In this room cluttered with things left around and about, a sense of emptiness hung in the air.
Elbert: Well then... shall we search?
Kate: Do you have some idea where it could be, possibly?
Elbert: ...Actually.
Kate: Actually...?
Elbert: I have never searched around this room before, so... I don’t know where anything is here.
Kate: This is your own room though...?
Elbert: It seems searching for it... will take quite a bit of time.
(...Even putting that aside, I have a lot of questions.)
(But right now, we should focus on finding the blue poppy.)
Kate: It’s alright. I’m sure if we work together to find it, we’ll find it much faster than if one of us were doing the job.
Elbert: ... [surprised]
Kate: Let’s do our best!
Elbert: Yes... let’s.
The things around the room were placed such that it was hard for people to move around, so I stayed cautious so as to not bump into anything as I began searching.
Kate: Ah, could this be it?
When I peeked through the gap of the hood which covered a picture frame on the floor, I saw something vibrant blue.
Elbert: What... was that again...?
Kate: I’ll look inside.
When I lifted the slightly heavy frame and removed the hood, beneath it was a beautiful oil painting.
Kate: It’s not a poppy or a pressed flower... but it’s a very pretty scenic painting.
Elbert: If I remember... it was from some exhibition. Everyone was praising it, so I wanted it.
E: They said they weren’t selling it, but I ended up getting it, with some coaxing.
Kate: It seems if they were going to give you an item that wasn’t for sale, they would ask for a hefty price in return...
Elbert: It was around the price of one townhouse, I think.
Kate: Huh!?
At that moment, my hands went stiff, causing the item in my hands to almost fall, so I supported them in a panic.
Elbert: ...Are you alright?
Kate: Sorry about that! I didn’t drop this, so I think it’s alright.
Elbert: Not what you’re holding... I’m talking about you.
(Eh...)
Lord Elbert took the painting from my hands, and set it down somewhere around him with little care for it.
Elbert: Are you hurt...?
Kate: ...No, I’m, I’m fine.
(I’m happy that he’s worried about me...)
But I couldn’t help but look at that oil painting, which was put on the floor.
(He went through so much and paid a high price to obtain this painting, but he already has no interest in it.)
(Because it ‘wasn’t beautiful’...)
Kate: Lord Elbert, is there anything in this room you hold dear...?
Elbert: ...Something I hold dear?
Kate: It’s just, I was thinking if there was anything you don’t want me to touch here, I would like to know.
Elbert: Well...
Elbert’s eyes wandered around the room in a daze.
When his deep, ocean blue eyes turned to me at last, Lord Elbert’s lips formed a smile.
Elbert: I... don’t really have such things, I think.
(None...)
I feel like I understand why I felt that sense of emptiness.
(This is a room where there is nothing its own master holds dear.)
It was Lord Elbert’s room, but there was nothing here for him.
(Then, these beautiful things overflowing in this room—)
(Who are they for... and what purpose do they serve?)
Elbert: Kate?
Kate: ! ...Sorry, I spaced out a little.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elbert: ...I don’t mind if anything gets broken, but please take care not to get hurt.
With those words, Lord Elbert started to search another area of the room.
(Right now, I just need to focus on finding the blue poppy!)
Redirecting my focus, I placed both hands on my knees and crawled through a crevice.
(...!?)
All of a sudden, my eyes met with hollow black ones, causing my heart to skip a beat.
(Ah, it’s a stuffed bird. It’s pretty, but also a little scary.)
There was not a single moving thing in Lord Elbert’s room.
The needle on a watch didn’t move, maintaining a beautiful form, and all living things were either stuffed or made into specimens.
(Come to think of it... where did the cat that he picked up while we were shopping together go...?)
Because I was leaning back while thinking about this—
Kate: Waaah...!?
Elbert: Hm...?
My butt ended up bumping into Lord Elbert, who had also been crouching down right next to me.
Kate: S-sorry... ow—!
The moment I pulled away from him, this time my elbow bumped into the shelf.
(Aahh... just how foolish can I get...)
Elbert: ...Are you alright?
Kate: Yes, I’m alright. Sorry about that, I’ve been doing nothing but causing worry for you.
Elbert: The room is a mess, so don’t worry about... it...?
At that moment, something came falling from the top of the shelf and landed on top of Lord Elbert’s head.
Elbert: What was that just now?
Kate: I wonder what...
When we looked down at our feet, there was a white bunny stuffed animal.
(It’s cute...)
Kate: I didn’t know you had something so cute here.
Elbert: Ah... I believe I bought it because the store owner said it was the most beautiful.
(This stuffed animal’s ribbon is tied in a granny knot.)
In a room so full of beautiful things, my eyes felt strangely drawn to the way the ribbon was tied a bit crookedly.
Kate: I should put it back. Where did it drop from...
I stood up, looking toward the general direction from which the stuffed animal fell. Just then—
(Ah!!)
Kate: Lord Elbert, could that be...!?
As if hiding in a work of art on top of the shelf, inside the frame on the wall was a blue petal of a poppy, pressed in a beautiful shape, having fully blossomed.
Elbert: ...There really is a blue poppy here...
E: Al might know my own room better than myself...
Kate: It is the real thing, right...?
Shoulder to shoulder, we stared at the flower in the frame before turning to each other at around the same time.
Kate: Can we bring this to Daisy?
Elbert: Of course... we still have time after this, so let’s go together.
Kate: Alright...!
(I wonder if Daisy will be happy.)
(Even when we’re not visiting her, she can look at this...)
(and, even if it’s just a little bit, I hope there will be more times she can smile.)
When I thought of Daisy’s smile, still holding its innocence, my chest blooms with anticipation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elbert: ...That’s the first time I’ve seen you smiling so happily.
Kate: Eh...?
When I lifted my head in response to his sudden words, I saw his deep ocean-like eyes fixed on me.
(Lord Elbert...?)
Elbert: ...Show me more of it.
With fingers as pretty as that of a sculpture’s, he gently touched my cheeks.
Kate: ...Hn.
He has a good looking face, so when he approached me, my breath caught in my throat.
There was a dark, hazy look in his gaze — similar to the one he had the night we first met Daisy and what I felt in the garden, and it unsettled me.
Elbert: ...
(What... should I do?)
(I... can’t look away.)
At that moment, a soft knock could be heard.
Kate: Y-yes!?
I blurted out without thinking.
Following a brief pause, Alfons poked his head through the door.
Alfons: ...Oh my, I do apologize. Have I interrupted something?
A: Please feel free to think of me as a slightly big door stopper and continue what you were doing, by all means.
Kate: I-it’s not what you think! I’ll get ready to go out.
As if running from Lord Elbert’s gaze, I left the room.
Elbert: ...
Alfons: You don’t have to glare at me like that. I assure you it was not on purpose.
(What was that just now?)
(Saying things like ‘show me your smiling face more’...)
It was almost like Lord Elbert was trying to make advances on me, but it didn’t look like that was his intention.
(It was more like he was trying to confirm something...)
When I remembered the way he looked at me, I felt that unsettling feeling in my chest once more, and I shook my head.
Kate: Right now, I have to hurry so we can go and give this to Daisy.
Setting aside that unsettling feeling, I ran down the hallway to my own room.
And then when the sun passed its highest point, Lord Elbert and I walked down the hallway of the infirmary.
Elbert: I wonder if she’s up. ...Lately, her condition hasn’t been looking good.
Kate: True... if she’s sleeping, we can wait a little bit.
While we conversed in low voices, I walked toward the room, feeling very excited, but—
Daisy’s voice: Hu... hic...
(Hm? That’s Daisy’s voice...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Is she crying?)
Elbert: ...
Perhaps she was speaking with someone, but Daisy’s tear-strained voice could be heard from the other side of the door.
(I know I shouldn’t eavesdrop.)
My reflexes tell me so, yet I end up pushing my ear against the door to listen.
Daisy’s voice: I... ended up doing something bad. I said... I wanted something... that is impossible to get.
D: Because... those people, were so kind...
D: They want me to keep living...
D: And it’s painful.
Kate: ...
My chest ached as though my heart were being squeezed.
Daisy’s voice: That’s why, I wanted to make them suffer, a little bit.
D: After all, you can’t forget the sad things. That’s why, if they don’t find the blue poppies...
D: Those two will... remember me forever, right...?
The shock hit me like being punched in the face.
We had wanted to cheer her up. That’s why we continued visiting her.
(By staying with her, maybe a little bit of that sadness and loneliness would lighten up.)
(But Daisy might have been struggling this entire time.)
Yet, we never realized that we had been hurting her.
Elbert: ...
Beside me, Elbert stared quietly at the door, not uttering a word.
(If we see her now, will Daisy end up suffering?)
(But... if we just stop visiting her without saying anything, that would surely make her more sad.)
(...Then, what about the blue poppy?)
We went through a lot to find it, but if we give this to her, she might end up feeling more sad.
Kate: ...I’m sorry, Lord Elbert.
K: Let’s... pretend we didn’t find it.
Elbert: ...Alright.
E: ...I agree.
When Daisy’s crying had calmed—
The one who had been listening to Daisy, who appeared to be one of the nurses, left, and we waited a while after that before we visited her.
We hid the frame with the blue poppy outside.
Kate: We’re so sorry! We couldn’t find the blue poppy.
Daisy: ...Aah, what a disappointment.
So that our lie wouldn’t be exposed, I apologized in an exaggerated manner, and as if to hide her red eyes, she scrunched up her face.
Kate: We promise we’ll find it tomorrow, for sure.
Daisy: Hehe. Are you sure you’ll be able to, before I die?
Seeing Daisy smile, I returned her gesture.
Elbert: ...
Lord Elbert simply stayed silent, looking after us.
The next day, we learned that there had been a sudden change in Daisy’s condition, and that she had drew her final breath.
The evening rays that signaled the end of today dyed the castle’s hallways red.
Feeling like there was a hole in my chest, I looked outside the window.
That was when I heard the sound of a single, relaxed footstep.
Elbert: There you are...
Kate: ...Lord Elbert.
Elbert: ...
As if sharing each other’s pain, a gentle silence fell.
That was how I knew Lord Elbert, too, had heard the news of Daisy’s passing.
Elbert: ...Kate.
E: Could you... lend me some of your time tonight?

So, I recently played Kirby's Star Stacker on NSO, and...
Well, I now understand why this version never released in North America (I want to send the screenshot soooooooo badly!) 😂
Ah, yes! Sorry about having media asks turned off! After some of the horror stories I've heard, I just didn't consider it worth the risk.
But yes!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love this image so much! Actually, I love so much about the adorable little cutscenes in Star Stacker! Meta Knight without his mask (...and gloves! You can see his little orb hands!) doing his darndest to still look like a cool tough warrior as he stands on the tallest possible hill (not that tall) and says "We shall meet again!!"
...Meta Knight... Oh Meta Knight... /positive
Now, then I assume there were probably many factors involved in Star Stacker not coming over to the west. It was released quite late into the SNES's lifespan for one, a year before the console was discontinued in NA. And it was a "remake" of a game that may not even have sold all that well the first time...
I hate to say it (especially as someone who values story and characters in video games) but an added "story mode" was almost certainly not considered a "selling point" to make it worth anyone's investment. Unfortunately, video games were still sold on their edginess to the teenage boy market in those days and a pastel-themed block matching game isn't getting any backing...
Grr...
Sorry. Just remembering how many good games my generation missed out on for stupid reasons. Games that I consider the best the system had to offer: Live a Live... Secret Treasure of the Rudras... Trials of Mana... Tales of Phantasia...
Ahem...
BUT the fact that Kirby and friends canonically go drinking at a bar if you lose probably didn't win it any points on its localizability and would have almost certainly caught the eyes of the VERY fierce, VERY determined censors of those days!
Of course, the funny thing about this is the bottle Kine is drinking from actually reads "Ocean Water" and is NOT alcohol! NoA wouldn't even have had to censor it, just translate it and you're clear!
...Although I'm sure if they had, rumors would have persisted for years that in "the original" Kine was actually drinking booze!
Maybe it wouldn't have mattered though, because Coo certainly looks ready to hit the hard liquor lined up on that shelf. ^_-
Actually, looking closely at the image, all the triangle motifs, I wonder if this is some kind of Dedede-themed Bar & Karaoke establishment? Seems they didn't bother rebuilding it after Kirby's infamously destructive singing voice wrecked the place!
...Man, there is something so utterly charming about the SNES era of Kirby! Star Stacker plays right into DL3's watercolor pencil artstyle and I love it and miss it, on occasion.
Unpopular opinion, perhaps, but I hope that our next Kirby game is not a big expansive mainline title but another "full-bodied" spinoff. Not a contentless fluff spinoff, like Dream Buffet or the 15 minute mini-games of the 3DS entries but something a little more comfy and fun, like Epic Yarn or Rainbow Curse! Something where you can have a bunch of characters reunite to do something silly and ridiculous like play competitive puzzle-matching or bubble-wrap popping (...or Air-Riding...) and pretend like it is serious business(tm)!

Q. Which member of Crown are you the closest to?
I'm not much of a people person.
So it's hard to say for sure who I'm closest to... but if I have to, I'd say Jude and Elis.
Perhaps it's much easier for me to communicate with them, because I've known the two from ever since before they joined Crown.
Did I sell their information to Victor, that's why they joined Crown?
Haha, no way.
How could I betray my best friends like that, right...?
Q. What kind of alcohol and snacks have you been crazy about?
I'm a very devoted guy.
Regardless of what I drink, I'll always be drinking beer in the end.
I often have cold beef with my alcohol.
It's a kind of steamed meat that's cut into thin slices and chilled.
It's salty and goes well with beer.
I really like green peas too.
Talking to you is making me want a drink.
Shall we go for a drink together?
Q. Besides alcohol, are there any other ways to cope with stress?
Stress, huh.
Jude often tells me that I've got nerves of steel, so I guess that means I'm rather strong hearted.
Therefore, I don't get stressed...
I enjoy being physically active, so I often do boxing.
I sweat it out, have some good beer, and get my work done. That's it.
Life is good when you keep it simple, so don't worry too much, yeah?
Victor
Q. Your hair is gorgeous. Do you do any hair care?
Thanks for complimenting my trademark!
I can't be of much help with hair care because I don't do anything special with my hair, sorry about that.
The only thing I do is keeping it clean, I guess?
I'm a person with a very bright personality, so my hair must've been affected by my positive energy, thus I have such voluminous black hair.
Q. What is your favourite beverage to have with scones?
Haha!
So you're a huge fan of my special scones with loads of butter too?
If I were to have a beverage to go with my scones that are said to be a forbidden late night snack... how about a cup of tea with some honey?
Having a sweet drink with a sweet snack, how evil!
Ah, I like it best when paired with my favourite red wine.
Q. Are there any people in your life who you think need to be fixed?
A very good question. That would be all the members of Crown. I want to fix the part of them that's too cool and adorable...! Ellis was taking a nap the other day, and he looked so precious! I wanted to do a sketch of him right then and there, but I was stopped by Harrison. And also, I managed to catch up with William after such a long time.
William Rex
Q. Please share the reason why you started playing the piano, and whether there are other musical instruments you can play.
There was a time when I wasn't allowed to leave my mansion's grounds, and there happened to be a piano in the mansion.
There was a limit to how much I could learn to play on my own, thus I occasionally invited guest teachers over to teach me.
Other musical instruments I can play are the violin and cello...
I'm good enough at playing them, such that entertaining any self-indulgent requests from my dear lover would not be a problem.
Q. Do you have any preferences when it comes to choosing wine and tea? Also, I would like to know why you love strawberries.
Fufu, you have quite a few questions.
I choose my wine according to my meal, but... come to think of it, Victor mostly buys red wine.
I bet you'll look amazing drinking that.
I like my tea straight (black) and not too heavy.
As for why I like strawberries... I think it's because strawberries were the very first fruit I stole from the kitchen.
Q. If Crown were a family, what roles would each of the members have?
Victor would play the role of both the mother and father...
Harrison is good at getting others to dote on him, so he can't be the oldest.
Liam is attentive to other people's concerns, so he can be the middle child.
Ellis and Jude would be... the youngest brother and his boss from work. That's not family? It's fine, that man (Jude) would gladly accept this arrangement.
El and Al would be a pair of twins, and Roger is best suited for the role as the oldest brother.
As for myself... I would be the cousin who swings by for unexpected visits.

Inspiration (in honor of Speak Now Taylor's Version): Enchanted by Taylor Swift.
Summary: Your town was small, not the smallest you knew, but anyone of high fortune was the gossip of the week. Predictably, Richard Grimes was a thing of whispers -rumors of a search for marriage among the grassy hills. You weren't one to buy into town gossip, but something about him... just seemed a little too intriguing.
TW: none.
[[A/N: Takes place directly after the previous part. Thanks for reading !!! ]]

He continued to kiss you until your face felt hot and your breath cleared out of your chest, beyond just the one he'd promised.
Kiss after kiss after kiss-
"Now, seriously," you whispered, between breaths, "-we must rejoin the party, they will notice us gone."
His eyes smoothed over your face, lingering on the crimson of your cheeks, and the rosiness of your lips. All his fault.
"Who will?" He asked, genuinely, like stopping such a thing was insurmountable to him. It made your heart stutter in your chest.
"My family," you hissed out, a quiet little whisper, "-or perhaps, the entire crowd that's looking for you."
"I was elsewhere," he hummed, leaning a little closer, "-and you were chatting."
"Mr. Gri- Rick," you interrupted, despite the lure back to him, "-you do not know what my Headmistress is capable of."
"I do," he leaned forward to press a simple one to your lips -you almost got lost in it, "-I do. But we must wait until your cheeks have cooled, it looks quite suspicious."
You replied, frustrated, "That's hardly my fault-"
"I know, darlin'," he grinned, "-I quite like it when I'm able to get you so flustered."
"But not now," you echoed, trying to fan your face -the cool air contrasting such warmth in your face.
"Still now," he tsked, closer to your face once more, "-It's just inconvenient."
The buzz in your head grew louder, as you matched your eyes with his -heart beating faster and something in you wanted to kiss him again. You held back such an urge.
"You cannot say such things," your cheeks bloomed even further, "-it'll only make it worse."
"I see now," he hummed, close to your face, "-Have you not been on the receivin' end of compliments often?"
"Not, no-" you echoed out, "-when your sisters are as gracefully beautiful as they are, I find it lacking on my side."
"You are certainly jokin'," Mr. Grimes retorted with a bit of a laugh, "-in fact, the man from before complimented you, did he not?"
"He did," you started, pushing strands of your hair behind your ears, "-but it's quite different. He... He just wanted a dance partner, you- you mean it."
"I do," he hummed, pushing back the other strand himself -you nearly leaned into such a touch, "-is that what you're not used to? Meaning it?"
"I..." you started, brushing your hands along your skirt idly, "-I suppose so. Most compliments come from men who only desire the company."
"I certainly desire your company-"
"It's different," you sighed, a little frustrated, "-you love me."
"I do," he remarked slowly, hand still gently placed by your face.
"That's a whole encompassing feeling that I..." you began, faltering to a little quieter, "-I have never been loved before, not- not even a little. And you do so... so fully, I-"
He held your eyes, patiently.
"All I can do is feel rather flustered," you finished.
"Well," his accent hung through the air, "-I'm rather proud to be the first in such endeavors. But I do believe ya sell yourself short."
"I'm not, I just-"
"I will fix that," he echoed, hand now pressed to your cheek, "-I shall compliment you every day until you believe it so."
"Mr. Grimes-" you sputtered out, a little embarrassed.
"Rick," he corrected, softly, before leaning back and taking his hand away -you almost followed the touch, "-and I'll hear no objections."
"But I-"
"Every hour I see you," he dared, raising his eyebrows -testing you.
"Okay," you sighed, "-fine. Just keep them friendly in front of my family, please. Nothing-"
"I would never," he answered, laughing slightly, "-I am an honorable man."
"Certainly," you grinned, teasing. Something flushed his cheeks then, and you felt quite proud of yourself, "-you come in about 10 minutes after, alright? To avoid suspicion."
"I-"
"And use the separate doors," you added with a smile and swung the door open -reentering the ballroom.
The room was just as noisy as it was when you left -all forced smiles and chatter. You'd have expected a still sort of moment with eyes chasing after you -getting caught.
Yet, the ballroom was much the same -crowded, and the music bustling. Dancing wondrously took up a section of the floor, as dresses swirled and the footsteps pitter-pattered through your mind. You distantly wished to dance but knew such a thing was merely a dream at the moment.
Had Mr. Grimes even returned yet?
Your eyes scanned across the space, lingering on the blue suits and the brunettes -just for a second for you to confirm.
"Y/N?" A voice echoed out, and you spun to match it.
"Michonne!" you exclaimed, a little preoccupied, "-Lovely to see you, I didn't know you were in attendance."
"Everyone is," she hummed looking at you particularly, "-my Father says it's a wonderful time to make connections."
"Is he expecting you to find a suitor here? Or has he grown past such a stage?"
"I'd hope not," she retorted, laughing, "-are you... are you looking for someone?"
"What?" You asked, refocusing your attention squarely on her, "-No. I just-"
"Liar," she tsked, "-I believe your father raised you better than that. Who?"
"It's not like that-"
"Who?" She questioned once more, head tilted -she wasn't going to accept a no.
Something in you softened, she'd know in a few hours... What harm could it do?
So, you leaned forward and whispered into her ear, "Mr. Grimes."
She pulled back with a questionable look on her face, "Everyone is, aren't they? Why... Why you act as if you're the purpose of this ball-"
You flushed crimson, scrambling for words.
"Oh, my, god," Michonne remarked, enunciating every word, "-Are you?"
"No," you answered quickly, "-well, not really. I just- We just-"
"We?" She startled, eyes widening, "Is this what you needed to tell me last ball?"
"Sort of," you answered with finality.
"You and-" she started, carefully omitting his name, "-really? Seriously?"
"Yes," you echoed, a little bit giddy, "-yes, but nobody knows yet. The ball is to announce it-"
"Headmistress? Your family?"
"Well, they know," you corrected.
"Thank god for that," she muttered, "-Headmistress would have your head."
"Of that I'm certain," a deeper voice spoke.
That was when Mr. Grimes had made his presence known, sliding beside you with the quickest motion you'd seen from him. The sleeve of his suit brushed against your dress-
You imagined him much closer, like just a few moments ago-
Your fingers ached to grab his arm, but you resisted -too many eyes now. He seemed to be expecting it, however, arm poised -you let your hand win.
"Hello, Mr. Grimes," Michonne curtsied, only slightly -she had a problem with such motions, "-lovely to make your acquaintance."
Her eyes lingered on the touching, a twinkle in her eyes, you nearly regretted it. But something, something warm in your chest wholeheartedly disagreed.
"And I, you," he remarked, clearing his throat.
"Treating her well, are you?" She asked, lower in tone -a whisper.
"Certainly," you repeated, and you felt him stiffen slightly beside you -remembering. You couldn't look him in the eye.
"Good," she laughed, before falling rather serious, "-I am trained by the blade."
"Michonne," you hissed, leaning forward to whisper her name, "-don't say such things."
"I will, and I shall."
Mr. Grimes spoke firmly, taking such an idea seriously -caring for you, "I would never do something to hurt her. If I do, I'd hope you'd deliver on such a promise, on my honor."
"Mr. Grimes-" you started, a little startled by his sincerity.
Ms. Hawthorne was nearly startled in her place, eyes laying heavily on the man -a swift nod in place of a response. She instead started with an excuse, "I need to find my Father, I believe he has yet to introduce me to every guest-"
You laughed.
"-which I'm sure he'll attempt. Enjoy your ball, Ms. Greene."
"It's hardly-" you started.
"It is," Mr. Grimes quickly answered, "-yours, that is."
"Mr. Grimes," you echoed, "-it's not mine-"
"I asked for your favorite flowers," he relented, "-from your family, and your favorite songs to dance to-"
And you suddenly realized such a tone -a song you knew well, a song you loved, "You-"
"-This is all with you in mind," he answered, a little nervously, "-I... Even the color of the decorations, it's all... everything is yours."
"I love you," you spoke, breathlessly, eyes pricking back tears -something similar to his own admission just moments before. You wished so desperately to kiss him just once more, perhaps twice.
"Mr. Grimes, that's-" you echoed, laughing a little and wiping at your tears, "-unbelievable. I had no idea that you'd thought... that you'd done all of this."
"For you," he repeated, and something in your heart swelled.
"Stop that," you sighed, your cheeks a bright crimson, "-I can't... I can't articulate how much this means to me, not... not now-"
"Whatever could you be talkin' about, Ms. Greene?" he asked, something twinkling in his eyes -you knew what it was now, love.
"Hush," you swatted at his arm, still attached and holding him gently against your side -you somehow wanted him closer. Your brain tsked at such a thought, something in your cheeks blooming darker, "-I love you."
"I love you too," he hummed, something gentle in his tone -like he knew such a feeling. And, perhaps he did. When you-
"So much," he finished, and it took everything in you to stand still at his side.
"Too much," you laughed, wiping at your eyes.
He neatly extended his handkerchief, one with his initials embroidered on it in a beautiful blue string. It was similar to the one you'd already known, stashed away in your room from prying eyes. It was delicately made, and you almost made you feel bad to soil such a thing. But he offered it up so tenderly-
"Thank you," you offered, slow and open.
"'Course," he whispered, "-anythin' for you."

SENTENCE MEME BALDUR'S GATE 3 / PART THREE
i heard what happened.
thank you for protecting the child.
we can risk violence here or face it for certain on the road.
a low thought, but i'd be lying if i said i hadn't considered it.
i'm not some murderer for hire.
to get these people to safety, there's nothing i won't do.
if your people survived that, they'll survive anything.
it's unusual for them to organize so cleverly.
you're equal to the task.
try not to keel over with the first blade drawn.
might not look it, but we're tough.
there's optimism and then there's stupid.
how are you going to take my gold if you're dead?
just leave the gold on my corpse.
i wish we could at least give them a proper burial.
gold ain't any use if you're too cold to spend it.
you're giving up?
you should leave it, or destroy it.
at best it's worthless. at worst, who knows.
do not trifle with that moon witch or her trinkets.
only trouble will follow.
we've enough troubles and burdens as it is.
perhaps you can sell that for a couple of coins.
i should pluck your eyes out.
a cursed book? how obvious.
this quarrel sours our feast.
be you friend or food?
am i not astonishing?
i am by all accounts a student of higher commerce and extortion.
it's not what it looks like, i swear.
i wasn't going to hurt you.
i can't believe i didn't see it.
i'm not some monster.
why didn't you tell me?
i needed you to trust me.
you can trust me.
do you think you could trust me just a little further?
let's make ourselves comfortable, shall we?
i was just swept up in the moment.
i'm looking forward to seeing you fight.
you're invigorating, but i need something more filling.
this is a gift, you know. i won't forget it.
good morning. how do you feel?
i just feel a little woozy.
i thought you'd be more powerful.
someone, or something, wants me alive.
as for my other quirks — well, we can figure those out in time.
i'm just glad you're being sensible about these revelations.
i was worried people might turn up with torches and pitchforks.
that explains the pallor.
we're each monsters in the making.
i taste absolutely awful.
we need him, like it or not.
we're bound together, no matter what comes.
you say all the right words, but i'm not so sure you mean the right things.
i will respect the decision that was made.
we're all friends again.
there's a long day ahead of us.
what a manner of place is this?
is this a path to redemption or a road to damnation?
your journey is just beginning.
what would suit the occasion?
i am [name], very much at your service.
if you want to threaten me, don't disguise it.
you're paranoid, aren't you.
must be the surroundings.
rather bleak and lonesome, one feels so exposed.
this quaint little scene is decidedly too middle-of-nowhere for me.
enjoy your supper. after all, i might be your last.
are these theatrics leading somewhere?
are you not entertained?
far be it from me to disappoint.
how dear is one's soul?
you're made if you think i'll make a deal with a devil.
what is madness but a denial of reality?
exhaust every possibility until none are left.
when hope has been whittled down to the very marrow of despair, that's when you'll come knocking on my door.
i'll have the last laugh in the end.
one might say you're a paragon of luck.
i've something important to discuss with you.
we've been travelling together for a while now and it's just about time that i shared something with you.
are you telling me you're addicted to magic?
i would not burden anyone other than myself with this were the stakes not so high.
if not out of the simple goodness of your heart, then perhaps your own self-interest might be sufficient motivation.
please, trust me.
your help could be the difference between life and death.
i'm afraid that's not going to work on me.
let us agree on actions first and explanations later.
i didn't come seeking battle.
you're different than the others, i can tell.
i'm afraid proper thanks must wait.
your boldness is a blessing.
it takes more than mere fire to break me.
i must ask again for your aid.
why entrust this to me?
i know him better than most.
i'm not interested in your lineage.
you shouldn't keep secrets like this from me.
he named me friend, and that meant the world.
they're a powerful friend with a keen interest in privacy.
i'm sworn to say no more.
i spent more time dueling than rubbing elbows with lords.
not to say i didn't develop a taste for good win and a talent for courtly dance.
it's been a badger's age since i've twinkled my toes.
a drunk ogre could put on a better show.
we can learn a lot from fairytales, don't you think?
he'll require of you only what you're least ready to part with, and then require more still.
the devil won't take just anything, he'll take everything.
that is a story reserved for lifetime friends and calmer days.
i question the wisdom in that decision but so be it.
there's no way you could have known.
i doubt a fight against them would go your way.
seems you have good survival instincts.
i go my own way — alone.

Jaheira x Named!Tav: Summer
A/n: Yeah, sun's still out. I'm still on my sassy old people bullshit. Tav is a drow warrior named Solaen.
Tumblr media
Jaheira x Named!Tav: Summer Lovin' It's Not He's Full of Hate
"Jaheira…"
It says something that her name should evoke a looming sense of dread. She's 'Jaheira' so rarely—it's Ilharess in mixed company, alurlssrin when the mood is too somber or intimate. She's been Valsharess a handful of times, always breathed into the skin of her throat or the cradle of her thighs. These are positive things.
Her name? Eh. There's no such assurance.
Solaen's has turned his nose up so imperiously high it's a wonder he can still see the road. They are deep into a Baldurian summer, and all the sweltering glory it entails, and the drow remains draped in a dark cloak, hood pulled low.  He cuts a theatrical image, she’ll grant him that much.
"Jaheira," he says again, and she almost laughs, struck by the sudden impression that he is some great sulking feline. "All the cities in the Realms you might have called home…and you picked this hovel."
She snorts. "The Gate has its own…esoteric charm, I grant you. What has rubbed you wrong?"
"The stagnant air? The stink of rotting fish and excrement?"
"Eh, you get used to these things."
"A fresh horror to anticipate. How grand." He drags a hand through his hair, now damp. There's a savage part of her that delights in seeing him like this: a touch less ethereal, his elegant features more approachable when he's dripping sweat and clearly morose. Centuries in the Underdark had ill-prepared him for the heat of surface summer, let alone the Gate's humidity. The air felt thick this time of year—and it will get worse long before it gets better. Her warrior grumbles, all the warning she gets before he's stepped into her—this damp, miserable beast. "I should steal you away—back to the Underdark."
"Hah! Do you think you could manage that?"
"Perhaps in the evening," he says, a touch archly. "After your damned sun has set."
"Perhaps then," she agrees. Jaheira reaches up, adjusting the cloak's hood. One of the Harper's under her command, another drow, had suggested a more straightforward solution: avoid traversing the city around midday and go out only once the sun began to set. He never listens—too proud, alas. She feathers the tips of her fingers over his eyelids, channeling the barest hint of magic into the touch—enough to cool and soothe. "But you may incur Rion's ire…a dangerous ask—far too much trouble for one old woman."
"You sell yourself short, Crow." He sighs, shifting her right hand to rest at the curve of his neck and shoulder. The temperature is mild by most standards, but you'd never guess it—his skin is sweat-slick and tacky. Jaheira rolls her eyes, channeling more magic into her touch. The corner of his lips ticks up in a grateful smirk. "Very well—if I cannot spirit you away…I shall suffer your summers. And your city."
"The sacrifices we make for the one we love." It has the cadence of a joke, lilting a little on that last word. But there's a weight to it, an admission. She does see the sacrifice.
"Happily paid." He brings a hand up, shielding his eyes. "Almost happily."
Jaheira snickers, nudging his shoulder with her own. "Come. Let us see if we can't find you a shadow to sulk in, old man."
