La Vie est Belle ~ OUI

I pulled my OUI out after seeing that Lancôme is coming out with a new flanker of their popular LVEB fragrance – the Iris Absolue. Why do they do this? 😩 On one hand these are nice fragrances but would it hurt to create something entirely new?

A Powdery Sweet Rose with Iris

I got the OUI last year for Mothers Day. It’s intense but better then the original in that it has the IRIS note and Violet that creates a powdery effect in the perfume and is not as sickly sweet with patchouli as the original version.

Just sprayed it on and it smells really good. I might check out the new one when it’s available but I’m sticking with the OUI since it has similar notes for now.

Your guide to perfume layering

1. Simmilar + similar

To highlight a note of your preference combine two fragrances that have it present in their olfactory pyramid. This won’t change the scent much just amplify it your favorite aspects of it. Example: Bianco latte with vanilla 28, two vanilla fragrances (although the first one is a lighter fluffy vanilla and the other a darker boozy vanilla) or Bianco latte with Dama Bianca (my personal favorite combo) to create the perfect sweet and delicate vanilla . Or if you want something with rose + rose you can combine Delina with Delina exclusif of Delina with Roses vanille or even Delina with intense cafe since they all have that rose accord.

2. Complex + simple

I have two types of simple perfumes that work well for anything. The first being “simple” straightforward vanilla scents like Bianco latte to add a touch of sweetness to another type of fragrance like wood, ouds, and florals. This really helps with exploring other types of fragrances and slowly leaving your comfort zone. I talk about Bianco latte a lot since it’s one that I feel can wear everyday just rotating what I’ll combine with it. If you want other vanilla suggestions here’s a little list: Vanilla 28 (this one was actually created to be layered with other Kayali fragrances), commodity milk, vanilla skin, vanilla bourbon, Madagascar vanilla, Dulce, cloud, happy dust and tihota). Another type of scent that I use to layer with everything is a “second skin” scent like a simple clean musk scent like dedcool milk, white rice, glossier you, not a perfume, Rosie, l’eau papier, 11 11. This will add a background of cleanliness to whatever other scent you are wearing. If a fragrance has two notes you detect well like you can choose one aspect to enhance. Example cherry and oud like in “invite only” by Kayali I can mix it with love fest burning cherry to accentuate the cherry or amplify the oud by adding oud for greatness

4. Minimize what you don’t care for

For example, if you live in a hotter climate and you think it’s not appropriate to wear that sweet perfume you can add something citrus forward to give it a bit of tanginess and balance it out. I do this with one of my favorite combos La vie est belle l’eclat and CK IN 2 U

3. Layer well known acords

If you want to be really artsy and act like a perfumer you can layer perfumes that are common in accords

Fruity + floral

Floral + fresh

Saffron + leather

Rose + lychee

Green + citrus

Mossy + citrus

Tea + lactonic

Lactonic + coffee

Final tip: I find it easier to layer fragrances that are simpler or designer fragrances because they are blended together to be simple enough where you can understand them where niche fragrances can sometimes have so much going on that is hard to classify on a simple category and it’s easy to make them clash with something making them harder to layer.

This one took longer than I thought to have the courage to say my random thoughts about that man. Turned out he’s complicated.

First let’s talk about his amazing muscular body. He’d crash me with just one hand effortlessly.

Sometimes I hope Togashi would let Hisoka and Tserried meet and fight. I’d die from excitement.

Poor Theta, I’m genuinely worried about her fate. I think she’ll help Kurapika get closer to the Prince so they can kill him.

He doesn’t mind raping you, he sees you as one of his belongings he has the right to do anything he wants with you. Your opinion doesn’t matter.

Sometimes he gets a soft spot for you, after a “silly argument” and another abusive episode he will catch you crying where no one can see you, he will hug you and pat your head while saying he’s sorry.

After you’re finished crying he’ll give you a soft kiss on your lips, and says he won’t hit you again.

Of course he’ll do it again. Sometimes he’ll threaten you with a gun or a knife. It gets worse by time.

hey just looked up the notes for tender romance and you might want to try pas ce soir by BDK parfums, its quite similar and has that feminine, cashmeran vibe. i also suggest lancôme’s la vie est belle for something sweet & warm or armani’s si for something more warm and sensual. both have that same comforting, romantic feel. YSL rouge velours & simply jil sander poudrée intense are some of my personal faves that match the vibe & could be great alternatives for you :)

In terms of fragrance notes, I would say a "femme fatale" type fragrance incorporates some combination of amber, vanilla, bergamot, patchouli, and musk with complimentary notes like oud wood, coffee beans, rum, rose, tuberose (more nighttime, intense scents) or sandalwood, sparkling pear, or jasmine notes (for a lighter/more daytime or summery scent).

i still haven’t found a perfume i click with as much as tobacco vanille which i could never buy bc it costs as much as a small nation states annual gdp. i have a couple of perfumes i do like though like la vie est belle and jo malone sorrel and lemon thyme and a couple of replica ones but none i love. i need to explore more or at least find a good dupe for the more expensive things…any uk(/available in) recommendations for either samples or alternative brands pleaseeee let me know

wearing my sample of possets venus in black tonight. i dont typically find myself too partial to pear scents. la vie est belle and most of the ariana grande ones smell very candied to me in a way im not partial to, and although one of baby's first perfumes was jo malone's pear and freesia cologne, i dont revisit or crave pear scents often. i think my only other notable pear scent in my collection is osmofolia's "earthling", which....is more spinach than pear, honestly. but this one is taking me by surprise.

the pear is very realistic, not candied or marinated in an artificial rum scent. it smells like biting into a nice, slightly overripe pear. there's something suedey (is it the black musk?) and dry, definitely a pepper feel that flirts with a background of woodiness. and the narcissus is definitely popping out and weaving its way through the pear, this creamy petal feeling that verges on buttery. but mostly pear on my skin. this reminds me of something my mother would enjoy. it's rather sensual imo, very "skintimate", sort of "draw into a hug" kind of smell in a way that could be sort of flirty, but not in a youthful playful way. definitely in the "my mom" way (affectionate). this is what your second grade teacher was wearing when you ran into her out at a restaurant with your family once and it was just she and her husband and you were entranced by how strange it was that she was wearing her hair differently and had earrings on. it's a mature and soft kind of sexy, not really playful, very assured and comfortable, but definitely sexy. im starting to sense a trend with possets. and i'm honestly on board.

also yeah theyre right this is incredibly feminine and beautiful, like-- of all the possets ive tried this is definitively the most feminine one yet
