Was originally gonna head back to Christchurch tonight, but after seeing the seals, thought it’d be cool to see the #penguincolony in Oamaru. Well, it turns out it’s $30 to see them in #Oamaru. Or you can wait until nightfall and watch the blue penguins come up the jetty to head back to their nests in the bluffs. As the penguin wrangler commented, they gave three types of Penguins in Oamaru, clever, smart, and really dumb. The clever ones stay in the human protected colony. The smart ones go up the jetty, into the tunnel that goes under the road and to their nests. And the dumb ones show up where ever and try to cross the road on their own. These are the second type, heading for the tunnel. We saw the third type too and made sure they didn’t get run over. (at Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony)
