Yer the lad that wrote "The Art of Language Invention" yeah??? Just got it recently and it's probably one of my favourite books on the subject I've ever read. Wanted to reach out and say thank you for writing it!!!
Yeah, that was me. Glad you're enjoying it! I had a lot of fun writing it—twice, given the extra chapter I was allowed to add. I'm still so grateful to my editor, Elda Rotor, who was the one that made the book proposal to me. For those who don't know, it's not as if I had the idea for a conlang book and went around pitching it. I wouldn't have known where to begin. Absolute non-starter. If it wasn't for Elda emailing me out of the blue The Art of Language Invention would never have existed. (Also, she's awesome. She's in charge of Penguin Classics, and just decided to do some regular non-fiction for a change. But like—Penguin Classics!!! To an English major, she's a rock star.)

> The Woodlander by Thomas Hardy > Adam Bede by George Eliot > The Golden Treasury compiled by Francis Turner Palgrave > Sons and Lovers by D. H. Lawrence > Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf > King Solomon's Mines by H. Rider Haggard
A book spread of all the Penguin Popular Classics I own. Their covers are always so romantic and they're made in a smaller size compared to a regular novel, so they'll always fit into any bag I own.

QUEER/LGBTQ CLASSIC LITERATURE 📖📚☕🌱🎧
I've been reading more classics/modern classics recently but sometimes I find it difficult to connect with the story, not just due to complex language but also because of the unrelatable subjects of many classics, especially due to the suppression of writers of colour, gender, sexuality, etc. however I have found focusing on queer literature has helped me relate to stories and themes much easier, below is a list of LGBTQ (mostly gay and lesbian) classics and modern classics. keep in mind I haven't read all of these and many may contain violent or uncomfortable themes.
1.the Perks of being a wallflower by Stephen chbosky
2.the secret history by Donna tartt
3.the picture of Dorian grey by Oscar Wilde
4. Sappho (any collection of her poetry)
5. Giovanni's room by James Baldwin
6.carmilla by Sheridan le fanu
7. a portrait of the artist as a young man by James Joyce
8. holding the man by timothy conigrave
9. Annie on my mind by Nancy garden
10. Maurice by e.m Forster
11. oranges are not the only fruit by Jeanette winterson
12. ruby fruit by Rita mar brown
13. nightwood by djuna Barnes
14. confessions of a mask by Yukio Mishima
15. goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood
16.a single man by Christopher Isherwood
17. Christopher and his kind by Christopher Isherwood
18. breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman capok
18. Joseph and his friend by Bayard Taylor
19.imre: a memorandum by Edward irenaeus prime-stevenson
20. in the absence of men by Philippe besson
21. the moustache by Emmanual carrere

Macbeth
Or, Hail David Tennant! He's the king of Scotland, right?
Currently reading Macbeth, barely to Act I, scene 3, but hey, uni's taking my time.
I had ordered it, in a desperate attempt at consolation, due to the fact I would not be able to see David Tennant perform it live. But, apparently, there will be a theater projection! Plus, I have seen on the site that there will be a captioned representation, so we hope it will be soon available! 🙌🏻
Either way, from the little I can read, I actually enjoy it! The old English is though, but entertaining. And for now, I definitely have my little favourite quotes, such as:
"they smack both of honour"
To which... Slay. That's the only word this quote inspires me. I just see myself using it everyday already. And, obviously, as a fan of the ninth Doctor, I adore:
"Thrice to thine, and thrice to mine, and thrice again to make up nine"
Which sent me into a little spiral, to try and check if the ninth doctor did ressemble his third and sixth counter part (Do you get my weird reasoning...?), and spoiler alert... I see a ressemblance.
Though, if I were to compare the ninth doctor to classic doctors (may I just say I have only seen some best ofs, and no actual episodes, so it's not fully accurate), I'd compare him with three and five.
I have to say, I can't wait to see five. But anyway... Hail the king of Scotland!
