Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How are we feeling so far ?
There were so many moments I was already gigling and smiling at. And the ENDING omg. I'm a little scared of what's going to happen in the second part.
*MILD SPOILERS*
Here are some highlights for me:
Francesca and John Stirling, I was not expecting to like them so much but the way they just love being in eachothers company is so sweet and an introverts dream. I'm excited to see what happens with them. Also is just me or are they neurodiverse/ autistic coded (which I love to see).
Tumblr media
Costuming, I loved Penelopes new wardrobe I think the blues look so lovely on her, and her taking charge of her life was satisfying to watch. I do wish they kept with the darker colour throughout- like the first green dress.
I also simultaneously loved and cringed when Penelope would write the harshest thing ever and then immediately regret it. Honestly relatable tho lol.
Also I just love Violet. She makes me laugh so much and she is always the sweetest. And we might be getting a romance for her too ????
Also Penelopes sisters. I know they are suppose to be these unlikeble evil sisters trope, but I love them. Whenever they are on screen I laugh so much. There cluelessness on everything is so real, if I were in the bridgerton universe I would be them.
Tumblr media
On that, I know I could not live in the bridgerton universe because lord Debling leaving for years at time would be more ideal situation lol. And a nature lover, that's perfect.
Something I didn't like this season was I felt like Collin was forgiven to quickly. I was kind of hoping he would be begging to get back with her and build the tension that way. I wanted more PINING and AGONY from him. We still might yet tho.
I can't wait for the second part !!!!.
(And side note, whoever decided to split this season, just know I'm furious)

Ferrari (dir. Michael Mann).
There are plenty of swerves and detours to Ferrari's spare Italian drama. Built like an eventual tragedy with an uplifting hopefulness to the real-life fate of its characters, Mann and [Adam] Driver rebuild another sprawling biopic that manages to focus on outracing its turbo-charged mid-century automobiles.

Tiny Review: Ferrari 2023. All Adam Driver. No story.
Tumblr media
Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz give great performances.
But there is a lack of story. Things that got set up, failed to pay off. Like real life, arcs go nowhere and problems don’t get resolved in 2 hours.
Tumblr media
Ferrari is a 2023 American biographical sports drama film directed by Michael Mann and written by Troy Kennedy Martin. Based on the 1991 biography Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races, the Machine by motorsport journalist Brock Yates, the film stars Adam Driver, with Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, Sarah Gadon, Gabriel Leone, Jack O'Connell, and Patrick Dempsey.

Summary: Charlotte (Alyla Browne) finds a spider in her grandmother's flat and decides to keep it as a pet, hidden from mother Michelle (Penelope Mitchell) and stepfather Ethan (Ryan Corr). It doesn't take long for the difficulties of keeping a secret pet to kick in.
Low-concept low-budget '70s B-movie made in 2024 with solid performances and good (largely) practical FX. More like this, please.
Rating: 4.25/5

Ferrari (15): Enzo Juggling with Debt and Frenetic Parallel Lives.
#onemannsmovies #filmreview of "Ferrari". #FerrariMovie. A much better movie than other critics led me to believe. Enjoyed this. 4/5.
A One Mann’s Movies review of “Ferrari” (2023). This was my last cinema trip in 2023. Given the ‘ho-hum’ reviews about Uncle Michael’s new film*, I was in a bit of trepidation about going to see “Ferrari”. But I actually found it a really solid watch. It’s a bit like John Frankenheimer’s motor-racing epic “Grand Prix” from 1966…. a bit of action mixed with some heavy doses of melodrama. But…

Sahara (2005)
Tumblr media
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
On paper, Sahara sounds like a slam dunk. It’s Indiana Jones meets James Bond with big stars like Matthew McConaughey and Penelope Cruz and armed with a budget to make all the stunt-filled adventure come to life. In practice, it’s devoid of any joy or excitement. Director Breck Eisner makes 124 minutes feel so much longer than two hours.
In 1865, the ironclad CSS Texas disappeared with the last of the Confederacy’s treasury gold. In present day, Dirk Pitt (Matthew McConaughey) has finally found a clue to its final resting place: Mali. With his longtime bud and fellow treasure-hunter Al Giordino (Steve Zahn), he investigates. Along the way, the meet WHO doctor Eva Rojas (Penelope Cruz) as she investigates a mysterious plague she fears will soon ravage the country.
Based on the novel by Clive Cussler, this film adaptation tries to do too much. Sahara is essentially two movies slammed together. The first is a swashbuckling adventure in the vein of Indiana Jones. Boat chases, car chases, fist fights, impromptu survival techniques in the desert and a long-lost treasure? There’s no mistaking it. The other movie has an inconspicuous, beautiful doctor embroiled in a plot that begins as a threat to Africa but could endanger the whole world and includes a solar-powered laser beam, a mad dictator and businessmen devoid of morals. The problem is that these two plots exist independently and are not well blended. In one scene, Dirk and Al are dodging entire clips’ worth of bullets with big smiles while coming up with crazy ways to take down the villains on their tail by blowing up their own boat. In the next, a single bullet is treated with enough gravitas to give you a headache.
Also problematic are the actors. Matthew McConaughey and Penelope Cruz are talented actors. Here? they’re awful. They’re even worse together. They have no chemistry whatsoever, which makes their plots feel even more akin to a mix of oil and water. You know they’re going to fall in love from the beginning but you’ll believe a metal boat from the American Civil War will make it across the ocean on no rations before you’ll believe that romance.
From the unfunny humor meant to endear you to the characters to the action scenes that prove the actors couldn’t throw a decent punch if their lives depended on it, Sahara suffers from major problems. It also gets the little things wrong. When Commander Rudi Gunn (Rain Wilson) approaches the United States Embassy for help, he's warned it’s unlikely aid will arrive in time because “No one gives a shit about Africa”. They're not wrong. Even this movie doesn't care about Mali or its people because moments later, we learn the thing that’s gruesomely killing en-masse will soon spread to the entire world. So it wasn’t enough that Mali would become the world's biggest graveyard; the entire human race has to be at risk? Yikes.
Then, there’s the climax. This is one of those movies where the villains must have the greatest employee benefits package of all time because the baddie's top bodyguard decides to get into a fistfight on top of a building that’s rigged to explode in a few minutes. How was he going to get out of there once he got the job done?
I can give a movie slack and accept a preposterous story but you’ve got to give me something in return. When your actors have no chemistry between them, the bad guys are completely forgettable, the humour falls flat on its face, the action scenes are badly shot & choreographed and none of what you see is interesting, you want to find some way to entertain yourself, perhaps by having some laughs at the film’s expense. You'd think it'd be easy when the Los Angeles Times listed this film as one of the most expensive flops of all time but you'd be wrong. Sahara is too dull to provide any form of entertainment. (Full-screen version on DVD, January 29, 2021)

Puss In Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
Tumblr media
Not the wittiiest children's cartoon, but very entertaining nonetheless, mainly carried by the incredible chemistry between Antonio Banderas & Salma Hayak.
The action sequences are colorful and well choreographed; the humour, while skewing towards a younger audience, isn't completely juvenile. Plus this film is beautiful, reminiscent of the Spider-Verse style.
Overall really enjoyable. 8.6/10, B+
Like Top Gun: Maverick, this film has no business being so much better than the original.
3D: 8.5/10. Definitely watch this in 3D if you get the chance. Best I've seen since Shang Chi (but I still need to watch Avatar: TWoW)

Sundance Film Festival 2023: L'Immensità Review
#Sundance2023 L'Immensità Review: "This coming-of-age piece can also resonate with adults, as Crialese uses some of his experiences to show the intellectual connection between teens and adults. Cruz and Giuliani give incredible performances."
By: Amanda Guarragi When we are children, we live in our bubbles. Creating our fantasy world is safe because we have barely any responsibilities. As we grow up, the world changes our perception of life and how adults live. The older we get, the more we understand relationship dynamics and the difference between societal roles. L’Immensità explores one family’s life with their secrets and how…

Despite a couple of moments where it shines with some good performances to go with it, Reagan is an incompetently written look at the life of Ronald Reagan that portrays him as flawless by only looking at his hate of communism, where even some of that feels like it's stretching the truth.
