To have someone dear as perfect as Peri. What makes you worthy of such a simple fact? What makes you special? Why does he care?

So many questions, but at least she can be happy that he is here

Peri is perfect. Just seeing him brings glee, as long as he is close, there is always a reason to be happy. His joy is like a spark igniting the dark. Eli really loves him, with all her heart.

Peri is perfect. Everyone knows. Didn’t fully understand it before, but getting to know him like she has. It’s understandable, they are right.

Peri is perfect.

Peri is perfect. A building fear. Peri is perfect. So it would only be fitting if the one that stood by his side was perfect too. Or at the very least, was a good fit, one he could be proud of.

Can he be proud of me?

Ever since Peri’s met them, his life has become far more of a mess.

“What is it you like about me?” They ask softly, pretending it’s just for fun and not a thought that has been plaguing their mind.

“Well,” he gives her such a sweet smile, “you’re kind and always there for me.” Anyone could do that. “You respect me and listen.” Anyone could do that, it’s not special. “And when I met you, you were the first person who saw me for me.” Anyone could do that, I was just first. “So, you’re special to me, I love you a lot.” He ends with a smile, always so sweet.

“I love you too.” Yet, she can’t understand. Can’t feel safe. It’s clear, she just got lucky. If she wasn’t here, he would surely be able to find someone else. Someone better. Someone more worthy. 

Why do you like me? They want to ask. Need to know. He just told her, but it didn’t feel like an answer. What makes me special? There is nothing special to be found. Was simply the first, that’s all.

As long as Peri is happy to have her around, she’ll be there. That’s what you do for those you love. If he finds someone better, she can let go. She has to. The important part is Peri being happy.

Group Work. Another reason to dislike school. The only positive being when you can work with people you like. 

Everyone wants to work with Peri. Of course. Peri is perfect after all. Working with him is like a guarantee you’ll clear the class.

Didn’t get the guarantee. Goldie and Sammy did. At least those are people that Peri doesn’t mind working with. He’s sure to have a good time, they’re good people.

“Eli huh? Sad you didn’t get to ride on the tailcoats of your boyfriend?” Her group partner mocks. Irep.

She glares at him, she’s not like that, she’ll pull her weight. She’ll prove her worth.

“Oh? Did I hit a nerve?” He continues, clearly enjoying the sliver of hurt she can’t will away.

“No. Don’t worry.” She’ll make Peri proud. Their project will be the second best for sure. Peri’s will clearly be the best. Of course.

“Second best?”

Huh? Did she say that out loud?

“We’re gonna be the best. I won’t be second. Again.” He glares at Peri so intently.

“Stop that.” She defends quietly under her breath. She wants to do a good job on the assignment, prove she can pull her weight. Show Peri that he can rely on her if they work together. 

Would that make her special?

Will she ever be special.

Voices.

Loud.

The only thing special about her.

The main reason Peri’s been brought down in the social ladder. How special. A halfling. Half-fairy. Half-lambana. Is that what makes her special? Is that why Peri likes her?

No.

Peri’s been quite clear, he doesn’t care about her origins.

So, why does he care about her?

“You’re Perfect.” Peri tells so softly, love clouding his eyes as the simple fact of having her near brings him comfort.

She smiles at him, so many changes they’ve gone through. Yet one thing remains the same. She loves Peri, just as he loves her.

No more school. No more bullies. No more social expectations.

No more worries.

They have each other.

And if it’s one thing all these years have proven. 

It’s the simple fact. 

That they always will.

Falling asleep in a beloved's arms, is truly the best way to end a day.

Tried to prevent this one from running from me, and I recall you wanting a happy end. I think one could easily expand this.

After all, the main idea was kinda like this is how Irep got to properly know Eli, and because they had to work together he could tell her whatever he wanted and stuff.

Then something like, "I can't believe I even for a moment thought you didn't like me, even though everything you've said always comes back to that simple fact." With the inner thought of, I'm horrible

Just imagining that thought plaguing their mind, and they don't really want to tell Peri. What would he think? He trusted them. Then they go and do that.

But then in the end, they still stay together, no secrets left hidden. For if you love someone, you can see past their faults.

"Would you do it again?"

"No."

Smile. Hug. She's great. So sweet.

Just need to work on that self-confidence a bit.

And then they end years later, still loving one another dearly.

Or something like that.

Regardless, I do hope you like it I'll be happy to hear what you think!
