Dinoeye- dimensional mixed media including resin eye I embedded with polymer clay iris and a marble pupil, textured polymer clay as scales eyelids and eyelashes, texture paste, acrylic paint and pearlex powder accents on a solid wood panel

Leather paints are all very well and good, but I like adding a bit of PearlEx powder into a clear acrylic topcoat to get a little bit extra sheen.

With the bulk of the gorget finished (need to edge bind the bottom in blue and smooth some rippling), I can finally finish rigging the shoulders.

Then all that is left is finishing the mask rod, making the skirt, a belt, and some minor finishing and rigging adjustments.

here’s the lashes now btw. i went back in w/ pigment lifted directly from my watercolor pencils to get the finer points and now my shoulders are really tense LOL

Angel Dust (October 2024)

How did I manage to not upload this shoot here? XD So last fall, a friend of mine hosted a collaboration where we all made dolls of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss characters. Naturally, I wanted to make my favorite, Angel Dust. I really like his look in the Addict music video, so that's what we went with. This is my first time making any kind of Hazbin fan art, as well as the first time I've made a doll of an existing character outside of Bendy, so this was very new territory!

My base doll was a bit of a challenge, as for the first time, I was working with bootleg parts. I modified a bootleg Wydowna Spider body to have one less pair of arms, and a bootleg white Draculaura head that was majorly stained when I took off the paint. Color changing everything to look right was a challenge, and I'm not keen on doing it again anytime soon, but it was worth it. XD Once the body was spray painted, I treated him to a little pearlex powder to make him glittery. Felt fitting given his name. X''D Dress was made using Requiem Arts' Convertible Minidress pattern. Glasses were taken from a Hairdoorables Hairmazing doll, Willow I believe.

Another dandy’s world themed Rimworld colony! This times the uncommons

The Federation of Uncommoners! Aka “DEAR GOD WHAT THE FUCK WHY IS THIS HAPPENING-“

Anyway starting with RnD. Conjoined twins aren’t really a thing in this game so they’re separated!

Pearlex are literally just altered Impids, what’s altered?…their skin and hair colors. That’s it. That’s literally all I altered. Honestly wish I could have made them the same real age but randomization. The backstory in my head for how they’re different ages is that they were conjoined twins, but their parents didn’t want their children to be like that and…got them seperated. Neither of them knew about this until later in life, and it pissed them off. It was their body, they were doing fine, they could have made that decision when they were older but…they never got to.

Anyway Razzle’s on the verge of a major mental break. He’s also the cleric and the one with a psylink. Yeah that’s a good combination if I’ve ever seen one. I don’t know how he’s not the one getting into fights.

Anyway Dazzle! Uh. He’s been through some shit. You may notice Rodger is gone. And that Dazzle has a ring…well uh. They started dating, and then got engaged. A Cougar started hunting people. So Rodger and Dazzle went to take care of it. Both were heavily injured. Dazzle managed to pull through. Rodger died in bed next to him. Yeah. Also he keeps getting into fights with Brightney.

Teagan is the sanest one here! Which does mean they’re having to do most of the work. Which included herding a Muffalo that self tamed and a bunch of ducks that showed up. Most of them died because I couldn’t figure out how to keep them fed. Due to the next colony I figured out how and will try it so that they don’t continue to die. Also their in a poly relationship with their wife Connie and their girlfriend Brightney. She and Connie came to the colony married and due to how I set up their ideology she ended up going on a date with Brightney and now their dating

Also Connie! Connie is mostly just doing manual labor alongside her spouse, not much to say about her other than despite being a ghost she isn’t dead, ironically enough. She’s also got bad spine because she ended up being old.

Brightney. Stop getting into fist fights with Dazzle his fiancé died and he just got out of the hospital and your the one with the best medical skills-

Toodles yearns for the mines/j I made Rodger her dad because. Practically canon. She’s also been pulling her weight around here because everything keeps going wrong and we need literally every hand available at this point because Jesus Christ- also she started having visions from the monolith which. Honestly she’s the funniest choice for that tbh

Also one more thing regarding Rodger’s death: when his grave was first made, for whatever fucking reason, Brightney buried a raider in it instead, so I had to get her to dig out the raiders corpse and bury Rodger instead. At 2 am. Goddamnit Brightney

Did a clear purple coat +pearlex on the resin beguir beu and high glossed it. Did a pearlex high gloss coat on the clear kit version. This is for my entry in the SPEED themed contest.

So it's been a VERY busy time for dolls, part of me is trying to get things done before the weather turns too humid, but I'm also trying to take my time, and boy howdy has it been worth it.

Ever since Dark Revival came out, I KNEW I was gonna do some dolls from it. So today we have an early look at Joey and Audrey. And this is all on the first layer! Granted, there's a lot of sealant on them since both have faces recolored with pearlex powder (I can't help it, they gotta SHIMMER!), so I'm not surprised I could go this far, but ooooh I'm excited to keep going. Gonna have to bust out the gouache to delicately get all of Audrey's inky details. I must say, I'm impressed with Joey's hands and how old he looks, I've never achieved quite that level of detail before, it's nice.

Day one down, and so is my first layer of oils! He's very streaky, but that's normal at this point. He's definitely a challenge to hold, but I'm so excited to start seeing color on him.

His lighter areas are terra rosa, Indian yellow, burnt umber, white, and Aztec gold PearlEx pigment. His darker areas are terra rosa, burnt umber, and super copper PearlEx. His skin is white, bone black, and burnt umber.

just ordered some pearlex powder for highlighting the gold and green pieces of the paint job. we are about to get very shimmery in the coming days so stay tuned

Heya! Doll customizer here. I just recently tackled flocking on a doll for the first time, so do take this with a grain of salt. I've never used a flocking powder, but per Dollightful's video for her doll Juwon, she shows a good way to do it with yarn, which is my preferred hair type. The idea is that you take your yarn and chew it up into tiny pieces with scissors, then you put some glue on the head and press it into that. Then when it's dry, you brush off any loose pieces to clean it up. It may take a couple passes of applying more glue and hair to get it covered completely.

I'm very pleased with how it turned out on Joey here. The coloring is a bit strange on mine, I tried to treat it with pastels and pearlex powder for some more variation once it was on the head, but honestly, save yourself the trouble and just get the right color supply from the start. Is there a special kind of flocking powder I would need to flock a Barbie dolls hair?

I see flocking powder on amazon and wasn't sure if that would do.

I also saw a tutorial where someone used chopped up doll hair instead of flocking powder.

I've got plenty of dolls laying around to be hair donors but I've never done flocking before so I'm not sure what would be best for a beginner.
