1. Wukong probably left mk bc of a serious danger. To keep him safe and hidden.

2. Even if mk wasn't in any danger. Parents who aren't fit or okay enough to be parents shouldn't be parents

I love dad wukong as much as the rest of ya but being a literal parent to a baby is alot of serious work and responsibility. If someone isn't mentally fit enough to be a parent they shouldn't be a parent.

Look at those flashbacks and tell me he chose this. Ain't no way in HELL he chose to have mk. He loves mk with all his heart but with how much pain swk has been through and all his enemies why would be willingly bring someone into the world that would have to bear his sins no matter how hard he tries to keep him safe.

Swk is obviously truamatised, has a habit of isolating himself and is just so tired in general. If swk left mk for the second reason t's not bc "haha I'm irresponsible I'm gonna abandon a child" it's bc "I can't be a parent and this kid deserves someone better them me"

Swk is traumatised and has a debilitating habit of self isolating.

The Overture was a long-forgotten Ragtime tune, "Sailing Down The Chesapeake Bay" with an old music sheet cover projected on the movie screen depicting a steam boat. Those of us who frequent Claiborne beach know that once the ferries stopped there, bringing visitors to the Eastern Shore, in the days before the Bay Bridge was built. A train waited at the pier, ready to transport travelers on to Easton or Salisbury or Ocean City. An older lady once told me that there was a band and dancing on the some of the ferries as there was also a dancing pavilion near the pier at Claiborne. Until the 1950's, young people would come over from Baltimore and the Western Shore, dancing all the way.

Do you think Sun Wukong, Victorious Fighting Buddha, a pillar of heroism and hope and inspiration, sees this young version of himself in Xiaotian and thinks, I adore you, I love you, I think you are the most wonderful thing, and I will never let you become what I am, ever, and thus lets him have stability and joy and hope and never brings him down because he could never have that for himself when he was younger? Because he was forced to find enlightenment as a punishment for an action of chaos he did not pursue out of selfish desire to become the number one being in the world to rule over everything—but as a way to appease a man and warrior and general who thought he was perfect and ran him down until he was nothing more than an angry caged demon under a mountain?

Do you think about how everyone abandons Wukong and Wukong abandons Xiaotian through and through but never with selfish desire? Never does he leave with the idea of, Lords, I need to get away from him, he’s too much, I can’t handle him, but with the thought of a worried love that plagues him even as he smashes through his very core memories of punishment and isolation? How he would break Heaven and Earth for this young adult who looks at him as if he is the greatest person in the world? How he adores Qi Xiaotian, this foolish, hyperactive, eager and beloved version of himself—how he adores this kid because he sees a way for him to diverge from the same paths he took when he was younger and how he never once feared him for who he was?

Do you think about how Sun Wukong—someone who Only values people by how much they’re worth—smiles at Qi Xiaotian and asks if he’s alright and covers him with his whole body and holds back all of his power… because he adores his apprentice and he would never do anything to hurt him?

Do you think Sun Wukong knew he was capable of feeling such love?

i dont think mk is the type of person to completely pull away from swk because of this though. like hes gonna be upset and mad but i think hes also just...sad. upset and hurt. things are gonna be awkward and pained for a bit. but swk did promise to be better so i feel like Mk will give him a chance. he puts alot of faith in people so he will give swk a chance to explain himself.
