This Day in Buster…December 21, 1955 “The Silent Partner" airs on Screen Directors Playhouse NBC. Buster Keaton accidentally becomes a film star -dashing to the rescue of Evelyn Ankers, who didn’t need saving - but it doesn’t last for him. However, he brings success to Joe E Brown who owes it all to his silent partner.

This Day in Buster… December 22, 1920 “Neighbors” is released. Buster Keaton’s old Vaudeville pals, the acrobatic group known as “The Flying Escalantes,” were Buster’s ‘supporting’ act again…carrying him from window to window!

This Day in Buster…November 28
Happy Thanksgiving to those Damfamily members that celebrate - we’re thankful for every like, share & comment over this past year. You help keep Buster Keaton’s spirit alive. Hope your turkey (or duck) doesn't end up as tough as Buster's.

TalkieTuesday - Buster Keaton talking about why he never smiled on stage or in his films, "One of the first things I noticed was whenever I smiled or let the audience suspect how much I was enjoying myself they didn't seem to laugh as much as usual."

#TalkieTuesday - Yesterday we showed you Elsie Ames doing Buster’s famous ‘Butcher Boy’ fall. Today we give you a quote from Eleanor, describing the stunt with clips showing Buster performing his gravity-defying two-legs-on-the-bar trick over the years.

This Day In Buster…December 15th 1961
Buster Keaton stars as ‘Woodrow Mulligan’ on the Twilight Zone TV episode, ‘Once Upon a Time’, directed by former film director Norman Z. McLeod. The time travel episode is definitely for laughs with plenty of nods to Buster’s career.

MovieMonday Elsie Ames is a dead drunk maid & Buster Keaton is a hat shop owner that gets embroiled in a jewel theft in ‘The Taming of the Snood’, 1940. Pure farce & some well-timed slapstick between Keaton & Ames make this a fun film without much in the way of nuance.

This Day in Buster…September 4, 1927
This happened 97 years ago today…
Buster Keaton filmed the housefront stunt for his final independent movie, “Steamboat Bill, Jr.” - he said he was mad at the time, else he wouldn’t have done it.  The housefront weighed two tonnes, with six crew with ropes on the roof which were cut simultaneously.  Buster had two inches of leeway, finding his spot with nails in the ground which he could line up to with his heel.  The stunt has been reproduced many times since Buster did it, but never with quite so much at stake!
