Peach Does Not Love Bowser

So while there has been many jokes about Peach being secretly in love with Bowser and wanting to be kidnapped, there are many people who actual believe this is actually what is canon. So I am going to explain why this is not the case.

Princess Peach as we have seen many times does not like Bowser and in many games has tried to escape but of course to no avail. In games like Super Mario 3D Land we get to see that Peach does not enjoy her time when kidnapped, and often being tormented by her captor and his minions.

Some people taking the joke seriously have claimed it's all an act and that behind closed doors it's a different story. But we have seen Peach's opinion of Bowser when they are alone, and she has absolutely no liking to him. In Paper Mario 64 when Bowser tells Peach she should smile, a phrase many of us should irritatingly know. Peach responds the following way to him. "Well, tough luck! I'm in a very bad mood, you monster! You've imprisoned all of the guests from the castle! You are the single greatest disaster to ever befall the Mushroom Kingdom. I'll tell you what: I'll smile when you make everything as it was before you showed up!" Doesn't really scream secretly in love with Bowser.

Something that pisses me off about some of the Paper Mario fandom is that you're allowed to dump on the recent 3 games all you want but GOD FORBID you criticize the first two/three games!!!

Like don't get me wrong I've mostlymet good people here (although my first game was Origami King so that's a given), and 64 and a few parts of TTYD (Chapter 3, Doopliss, and some partners) are good IMO, but those people are not getting more people interested by telling them their game sucks ass but acting as if the backtrack hell that is TTYD or 64's very shallow characterization for anyone who isn't named Peach is untouchable when anyone points that out.

thinking of peach's inexplicable power to generate or find 1-up mushrooms in mario galaxy. like how much energy does that take? is this even usually possible for an inhabitant within the mushroom world? like mario and co. generate 1-up mushrooms by doing enough trick shots and comboing enemies, but i don't think peach usually is surrounded by enemies when she's captured, which means she has to generate them herself right? unless she keeps finding them on bowser's airships or wherever she's being held? is this an extension of her white magic? it definitely fits with her personality and other skill sets, but i'm just so curious how her sending mario 1-up mushrooms logically works out...

Jodio - Shy Guy (specifically the dark blue version)

Lowkey a pro at this game. Likes to challenge himself in time trials and knows all the best cart combinations. If there is a shortcut on the track, he WILL take it (and will almost always be successful). Actually enjoys Rainbow Road (the real reason for his psychopath diagnosis).

Dragona - Pink Gold Peach (I could see them picking Daisy too)

Just there to have a good time tbh. At least most of the time, because every now and then when they're doing particularly well their competitive streak kicks in, and trust me – once they get into it, they get REALLY into it (cross them at your own risk). Favorite track is Cheep Cheep Beach.

Paco - Bowser

He thinks gaming is dumb and a waste of time (definitely not because he sucks at it). On the rare occasion he does get convinced to play, he keeps bumping into walls and other players (it doesn't help that he picks one of the heaviest characters in the game). Known for notoriously running into banana peels. Gaming sessions usually end in him "inviting" the other players to the gym.

Usagi - Luigi

Relates to Luigi on a personal level for being the underappreciated helper of the group. He's actually quite good at the game. His aim is freakishly accurate and he loves to hoard items to target other players (for unknown reasons they seem to hit everyone but Dragona). Similarly to Jodio, he takes shortcuts almost every chance he gets, but unlike Jodio, it doesn't always go so well. Also probably likes Baby Park like the freak he is.

Charmingman - Dry Bones

Used to play with Mauka a lot, so he's surprisingly good, and can get quite competitive too. Drives solely on bikes, which give him some good ol' maneuverabilty to avoid all those damn banana peels Usagi keeps throwing around. Secretly loves the music tracks and sometimes listens to them while riding his bike irl, imagining himself to be in a race. Favorite item is Boo.

And now to talk about Mario and Peach's relationship.

Mario is in love with Peach. BUT that happened AFTER he saved her the first time. And his being in love with her is not the reason he goes to save her, he is just a good guy like that. That being said, Mario believes peach deserves the best, he wants her to be happy, even more than he would be with being with her. When he gets to be around her, he is happy and is glad to be in her presence. She is kind, caring, she is a great baker and chef, she is also interested in what he's been doing. Mario and Peach could converse for hours. Mario is not a knight of the kingdom, but people often believe he is. Mario also allows himself to vulnerable around Peach, because deep down, he knows she would never judge him. I do believe Mario does think he is not good enough to be with Peach, which is why he doesnt make a direct move.

Peach is in love with Mario. No ifs ands or butts. Peach finds Mario down to earth, kind, attentive, and honest. Peach finds that people often sugar coat things around her, she feels people are never honest with her, She never has that problem with Mario. Mario treats everyone with dignity and respect. Mario believes Peach has her own autonomy. Peach believes Mario is someone that can do anything regardless of the impossibility. He has a determination that cant be broken and he has found ways to save the day regardless of the foes. Peach firmly believes Mario is a True hero. Peach also loves Mario's mustache, often complimenting it. Peach has had many suitors in the past try and woo her, but she has turned them all down, bowser especially. Because Peach has her eye on one man, and he is super. She just wishes one day he will view himself the way she sees him. Until then, she will wait as she watches him eat the cake she made with a smile on her face.

Name: F.L.U.D.D. (Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device)

Debut: Super Mario Sunshine

F.L.U.D.D. was Mario's first ever Platforming Buddy! Unless you count the Lakitu Bros. from 64, but they just operate the camera and don't affect Mario's platforming moveset, so I do not. So really, F.L.U.D.D. is- hold on, I really don't want to write every individual period each time I write its name. I'm just going to leave all the periods at the end of the post and you can put them where they belong yourself, or anywhere else you think is funny. Or you can keep them, I don't mind. Put them on a bagel and tell a friend they're poppy seeds!

FLUDD is a big deal. A landmark for the series in terms of mechanics. Not that these specific mechanics returned, but the concept of a buddy granting Mario some new abilities has become a recurring thing. FLUDD even talks, and is fully voice acted! In a robot voice! Like mine! A cute and silly little robot buddy for Super Mario.

So then... why don't I absolutely LOVE it? I feel like I should! But I'm just not getting that urge to imagine it driving a kart or playing tennis like I do with far less important characters. Does it work so well as a Tool that I have a hard time viewing it as a Character? Let's See!

I think FLUDD's design is honestly kind of perfect. The two massive screws that evoke eyes are really clever, and especially great is that they give it + shaped "pupils"! Aside from that, the nozzle's funnel shape is an extremely funny shape for a mouth, and FLUDD does indeed speak out of there. Excellent head! Though I feel like the excitement fizzles out once you look past the head, because the rest is much more "equipment" than "character". That's fine, this IS a piece of equipment! It just makes it feel less like a character, when I'd like it to have a bit of a balance of both. Maybe if the handles also functioned as little feet that it could walk around on? I don't know. Maybe that would be stupid... but I do love when creature designs are stupid!

FLUDD was made by E. Gadd, but that's all the backstory we get. We never learn why it was just there on the Delfino Airstrip, and that's really weird! The perfect tool to combat the game's main conflict is just there immediately when Mario arrives. It could have been a cool little mystery, but I guess the reality is just that some Pianta ordered it when the Goop Incident happened and got express delivery. Or maybe someone already had it and was just waiting for a calamity like this to happen, to justify the purchase!

I don't need to go over everything FLUDD does, right? I'm not the Super Mario Wiki, it's not my job! I'm here for the Weird. And a weird thing is that FLUDD freaken dies.

During the final boss against Bowser's Hot Tub, FLUDD starts stuttering, as if breaking down. And then in the final cutscene... it Dies! Mario goes to it, it tells him it hopes it was of assistance, and it dies. And Mario is sad, because this was his friend. But then in the very next scene FLUDD is back! Some Toads fixed it and it's fine now. So this ends up having the emotional impact of Mario needing to change the battery on his TV remote.

Even though it's our and Mario's friend, FLUDD is still an object, a product. It's technically not just FLUDD, but A FLUDD, one of many, mass produced. I have to wonder if it actually formed any bond with Mario, or if it was a one-sided friendship. Is it even capable of friendship...?

Whatever the case, the others absolutely consider FLUDD a friend, and well, that's just so sweet. During the credits we get to see some extremely compressed pictures of Mario and friends enjoying their real vacation, and FLUDD is there with them! It's not even on Mario's back anymore, or always WITH Mario, for that matter. Sometimes it's hanging out with Peach and some Toads, sitting there independently. I think it is safe to say FLUDD is a real true friend, and likes to just Hang Out sometimes! Even better, maybe it wasn't originally sentient, but learned how to love over the course of the adventure. Such a wonderful robot thing to do!

As expected, thinking in depth about FLUDD has absolutely endeared me to it. Hooray! It's about time. Well, it's too late for FLUDD to be relevant again, probably. I'm not saying it should be a driver in Mario Kart, but I AM saying there should be a kart based on it, and I'm also saying that this kart should canonically be the FLUDD, now upgraded. This feels like something that should have happened long ago!

This has been a long post, but it is far from all FLUDD has had to discuss! So next time, I will post about FLUDD once more, and its various appearances during the GameCube days and beyond! There is milk involved at some point. Get excited to learn what milk has to do with any of this!

Nassy's design is based on Swoops, which is what i hc she was before she ate Bleck's dreams, and transformed into a Swoop/Human/Tribe of darkness mix from Bleck's dreams of Timpani, in the hope on getting him to love her if she looked more similar to them. Her eye colour is from the square effect when she uses her mind control power. She's not wearing her glasses due to it being postgame, and thus the start of her development into accepting herself and hiding away less, they're not reading glasses but sunglasses due to being sensitive to light (and also hiding some of her face and facial expressions)

Peach and O'Chunks know how to cook/bake, so they're the one commenting on how she made it/how Peach couldn't replicate it despite being a master baker

Luvbi, Grambi and Jaydes are here because, if the witches have tv, then they must also have internet access, and it is canon in my post game that they keep up with what the gang is up to online, since it's not everyday they meet people that can come and go from the afterlife and who they owe their life to. Though obviously it would be from myspace rather than tiktok since they have 2007 technology. Jaydes and Grambi wouldn't post or comment anything, but Luvbi is actively making friends. Rin:

He plays as blue shy guy! He doesn’t play often, only when you force him to, and yet he wins every single race. At first, he wasn’t competitive while playing at all, acts all chill and claims he “doesn’t care” if he wins the game or not. Although the more you guys play the more heated he begins to get when objects are thrown at him….he hates those damn bananas.

Sae:

He’s so lame and plays as Mario. He literally does not care to play. Does he win at all? Absolutely not. He best stick to soccer. The poor guy absolutely sucks at mario kart. He’s lucky to get in even 5th place. When you first asked to play, he was very “how hard can it be?”. He would never admit that the game is growing on him and the more he plays the more he wants to win. Just like his brother, he can’t stand those damn bananas.

Nagi:

He plays as dry bones! Mr. gamer is so not competitive yet wins every single game. He’s like rin, except he is actually chill and doesn’t care if he wins. The game is “too easy” for him and he gets board after 2-3 races. He’d buy you the expansion packs if you’d ask! It pisses u off how good he is, you can’t seem to win a single game. :(

Bachira:

He plays as toadette! He’s so competitive it’s not even funny. He always tries to mess up your race and things it’s hilarious to whip you out on shells. He 100% sticks his tongue out while playing. His concentration is crazy and no amount of distraction will get to him. Does he ever win? Absolutely not.

Chigiri:

He plays as princess peach! (obvi). His favorite map is rainbow road and he insists you play it every time. He’s not the best player, he never switches his kart and never cares to switch the stats on it, then gets upset when he loses yet again. He whines and makes a scene when he’s knocked down a few places by other players. How often does he win? 50% !

Reo:

He plays as Waluigi! He has a whole set up and is lowkey a crazy mario kart player. He buys controllers specifically for the game and buys all the expansion packs and new tracks. He’s not all the good but will spend hours playing and “practicing” during his free time. He loves when you will go over n’ sit on his bed and play with him for hours. He calls it “bonding time”. (I hc him as a very shy lover and is afraid to let things get awkward so it’s a good way to break silence and keep eachother distracted!)

Isagi:

He plays as toad. He is SO competitive. Also sticks his tongue out while playing. He takes a long time to choose a cart and customize it to each track he plays. He truly thinks it makes a difference for every track. When he falls behind or looses he will always blame it on the kart and not his actual skill. How often does he win? 50/50.

Shido:

He plays as bowser. He claims he isn’t competitive but you can see it in his focus on the game. Yells at the screen when players pass him. He’s broke too many controllers to count. You’ve had him start to bring his own controllers so he doesn’t break yours :( He’s honestly not good at all but likes to think he is! He’ll blame his loss on something stupid then say “one more game”, for the twelfth time.

Kaiser:

He plays as king boo. Honestly could care less about the game but plays it to make you happy. It’s infuriating how good he is at the game, how did he get so far ahead? He plays in complete silence, doesn’t say a word while maintaining the most straight face the entire time. After he wins, he’ll make some snarky comment and ask if you’re ready to give up. Twenty races later, you finally win. He didn’t let you win did he?

#1: Bowser & Peach

Now, Bowser has only married Peach for dark ritual purposes, which legally I think doesn't count. However, you can't deny that there is something distinctly divorced about their relationship. Bowser Jr. is extremely fond of both of them, idolizing his father and calling Peach "Mama" (even after he knows she did not give birth to him - another point for Divorced Bowser). Bowser obviously loves his kid, and Peach really has no quarrel with him either; nevertheless, the only time Junior ever sees them alone together is when they're fighting. "Your princess is in another castle", indeed.

#2: Donkey Kong Jr.

Donkey Kong Jr. is so goddamn divorced that we don't even know who his ex-wife is. She just fucked off to nowhere. Now he is a lonely balding accountant in New Donk City, but he is doing very well for himself, so good for him. Maybe one day he will be ready to jump back into the dating scene and find his second banana.

Frank: Frank is the world's most massive rage-quitter. He SCREAMS when he loses and nearly breaks the TV. And in all honesty, he's not that good at it!!! He gets lapped more often then not!! He goes APESHIT for Bowser's Castle and the music that plays!!! He always feels like such a badass until the thwomps get him and he lets out the most ungodly shriek you've ever heard every single time! His most deafening awful moment was when Riff Raff threw a blue shell at him, knocked him off course, and beat him to the shortcut in a way that didn't allow Frank to follow. His favorite characters to to play are Cat Peach and Gold Mario!!

Brad: Brad is a GAMER!!! He has been a Mario fan since he left the womb ans he hasn't faltered since. He's a master at every version!!! He always plays either Mario or Luigi! He feels like it makes him the main character in a way!! He loves to play Mario in the Mario circuit. If he's on a good enough streak, like, a rare rare streak, everyone else will agree to team up against him! (Unless Frank is playing who insists that he can win himself) His superbowl was winning the entire fucking disc one time! That was when the tradition started- it really only goes into play when he manages to do that! Magenta also once told him that his talent impressed her because for some reason, the red and green shells reminded her of him as a person and the inside of his brain! (With love, she said it with lots and lots of love)

Janet: Janet loves to play Princess Peach, Daisy, and Rosalina! Sometimes however, she'll play either Mario or Luigi to go with whoever Brad's playing, she loves him so she'll do it. Her favorite course is the mushroom gorge and she loves jumping on those giant mushrooms!!!! It gives her a special little thrill!!! She laughs every time she bounces on them!! Also every time she hits someone with a star or a blooper!!! She's also infamous for thinking the surprise boxes are real and squealing at them when they're bad. Adorably enough, when she was a little girl, she thought not only that she looked like Princess Peach, but that she was her!!! She thought that the writers had seen her once, thought she was so pretty that she could only be called Princess Peach and wrote her into the game!!!! Not in a pretentious way, she was just a little girl who dreamed of being a princess and she thought that Mario was her prince!!!! And she wound up with a Mario addict for a husband!!!

Riff Raff: Riff Raff's sheer focus and drive can make him a winner sometimes!!! He's an incredibly strategic player, so he'll really vary his choice based off of who's playing who. There really isn't a character that he hasn't played!!! If he takes you down, he will look you right in the eyes as you express your rage and it is fantastic!!! His favorite coarse is Wario's Gold Mine because, he'll be the first to admit it, he loves the aesthetic!!! He just can't hide that it makes him smile! He does wish that he could look people in the eyes while he hits them, but he will not take his eyes off the screen!!! He is in it to win it! And he does sometimes!!!

Magenta: Magenta tries her very hardest, but she celebrates just a little bit too hard when she takes somebody down and she gets distracted and slips up herself! She likes to play Daisy and the variations of Bowser! (Dry Bowser is her favorite) She feels like Bowser makes her especially powerful when she takes down Frank and she loves that!!! She also absolutely laughs her ass off every time she sees the random MIIs in the courses!!! She kinda wishes that she could play one of them solely because their appearance makes her laugh so hard!! Her favorite course is Moonview Highway because it gives her a special rush that she really only gets when she's in cities!!!! Still, for her, the little wins are wins that she feels so strongly that she hardly ever gets the big wins!!! Still though, she's really happy and loves it a whole lot!!!

Columbia: Columbia is quite good at this game for the most part! She's so lazer focused on what she's doing and it's a massive asset! That is, except for the times when she gets so very focused on one thing in particular that she completely forgets to think about the other things!!! Like, focusing on dodging obstacles so much that she falls right off the course!!! That is an event that happens surprisingly frequently!! Well, it's not really all that surprising anymore, but still! Her favorite characters to play are Baby Peach and Toadette!!! After discovering that those two were her favorites, Riff Raff has said "yeah that tracks" to her multiple times!!! The first time he said it, he didn't realize that she was going to make the "tracks" pun, but after she did make it, he kept saying it afterwards to make her laugh!! And it works every time!! She absolutely loves the Coconut Mall course (tho those lil penguins in DK Summit really do give her joy) because she loves the absolute chaos of going through a place that is clearly not designed to be a racetrack! She finds it so amusing to imagine crashing through all of these innocent people's shopping experience! She also just loves malls in general, so that definitely is a bonus!!

Rocky: Rocky is still in that phase where he keeps holding the remote wheel juuuuuuust wrong enough that he keeps going sideways and either falling off of the course or crashing into the side!!! (That... that is a thing that happens, right? Or is it just the autism in me??? Either way, it happens to Rocky-) this is especially difficult for him, given that his favorite coarse is in fact the classic, the legendary, Rainbow Road! His favorite coarse is Rainbow Road and he chronically falls off of it!! He's smiling so wide every time, though!!! (Projecting™️)!!! He loves to play Yoshi and Toad!!! They're so cute and he loves them for it!!!

Eddie: Was this the beginning of a dangerous motorcycle craze? Who's to say! Either way, he truly does love Mariokart!! He loves to play King Boo, Dry Bones, and Donkey Kong!!! His favorite coarse is the Grumble Volcano bc of how rugged it feels!!! There's nothing that he loves more than bullet Bill. Bullet Bill gives him LIFE. If you don't know Mario Kart and know what that is, basically it turns you into a giant bullet for a little while that just plows straight through anything and everything at rocket speed, and he LOVES it!!! His uncle Scotty was terrified the first time he saw it and the delight that Eddie took in it, but it gave Eddie delight nonetheless!

Doctor Scott: Doctor Scott thinks that the game is so sweet!!! His favorite coarse is the Maple Treeway because of how calming it feels to him!!! He just feels so safe in it!!! Don't let that trick you into thinking that he isn't trying his hardest, though! He considered letting Eddie win when he was a kid but quickly learned that he didn't have to because that kid was so damn good that he could just try his hardest!!! He loves to play either Koopa Troopa, Mario, Luigi, or Yoshi! They give him such joy and they strike him as so upbeat!! He just loves it all!!

That is, he wants more than anything to go to places on the map/screen that the player cannot go in the game!!! He gets distracted actually trying to go to those places and he will not quit no matter how much he knows deep down that the game is not built for you to go there!!! 🌜 Super Mario Odyssey: post-ending headcanons 🌛

Today marks seven years since the release of my FAVORITE 3D Mario game:

This game really means EVERYTHING to me, so I wanted to make a little something to commemorate this date. I have to admit I didn't have any ideas at first, but then I remembered what @pepperycar commented on this post... and was suddenly inspired 🤭 Thank you so much, my friend! I owe you this one 💖

So, here I bring you a few ideas that I had on what could have happened after the end of Super Mario Odyssey. There will be Mareach, brotherly love, and SPOILERS, so if you haven't finished this game yet: beware!! ⚠

👑 Peach's wardrobe 👑

Princess Peach has a large and varied wardrobe. So far, Mario only remembers seeing her wearing her signature pink dresses, her favorite. She has several that are very similar to each other, with only a few small differences between them, such as puffed sleeves that her summer dress does not have, or an older design in which almost the entire skirt is a darker shade of pink. Peach always appears before him and his subjects wearing one of these outfits as pink is her favorite color, and one that, in Mario's opinion, suits her very well.

Recently, however, Mario has found that his beloved princess has a wide variety of outfits and has decided to start wearing them to visit the various kingdoms that Bowser has taken her to during her kidnapping, now that she finally has the freedom to choose where, when, and with whom to go.

And Mario loves to dress to match her.

The first time they did it, Mario ran into Peach and her friend Tiara almost by accident as she, as brave as ever, explored the lonely Forgotten Isle in an outfit worthy of Indiana Jones himself. Shorts, a backpack on her back, boots prepared for the earthy soil of the place... and her hair in a bun that was hidden under her explorer's cap.

Mario didn't take half a second to run back to his Odyssey ship and put on his own explorer's outfit to join her and continue exploring the island together.

When he met her in New Donk City, Peach was wearing one of Mario's favorite outfits of all the ones he had seen her in so far: a long pink flying skirt that, unlike her dresses, left her feet exposed; a gorgeous white blouse with a scarf around her neck, in a pastel pink shade that matched her pristine skin; and a wide hat over her abundant blonde hair. She looked beautiful and very comfortable, and the best part: she loved the black suit with matching fedora that Mario put on to go with Peach’s outfit. She told him he looked very elegant, and Mario thought his smile would overflow on both sides of his face since his cheeks hurt so much.

To him, on the other hand, the one who looked tremendously stylish and graceful was Peach when he met her in Bonneton. Her attire was dark, composed of a grayish coat, black stockings and gloves of the same color, which she combined with a beret that adorned her long hair. Mario kept watching her for a while, unable to help it, and he did the same thing when he met her in Shiveria, since the black and gold of her figure stood out among so much blinding white.

On that occasion, Mario felt that he’d never measure up to her with his orange, quilted coat, as opposed to Bonneton, where he was able to look at least a bit elegant with his black tuxedo, his red bow tie and a top hat that gave him the look of a magician. Or, at least, that's what she told him, while letting out a giggle that made Mario think of the softest and sweetest crystal bells.

Another one of his favorite outfits for the princess was her farmer attire, which was the one she chose to wear to visit the Luncheon Kingdom. Mario wasn’t surprised to find her picking turnips to help the locals prepare their famous soup, as it wasn’t the first time he’d seen her pulling vegetables from the ground. When she saw him dressed in his chef's outfit, she immediately applauded him and prepared to hand over the vegetables to him, thus naming him the official in charge of preparing the delicious best dish of the kingdom.

As for the last three outfits the princess has worn, Mario is unable to choose, as all three have provoked various sensations in him that made him wish he could stare at her forever, without having any other worries or mission to carry out. The Yukata with the fire flower pattern was, without a shadow of a doubt, one of them, a beautiful and lovely vision that gave him back some vitality and joy when he ran into Peach in Bowser's Kingdom. He, as bold as brass, put on his samurai outfit, ready to defend her from any evil, and she, always so demure, covered her face with her hand-held fan to hide a soft giggle. Still, watching her hair pulled back in a ponytail and the Boo-shaped buckle adorning her head, Mario knew he’d never measure up to her.

And he felt the same way when, while strolling along Bubblaine Beach and enjoying the coolness of the water with his doggy friend, he found her there, wearing that pretty white sarong adorned with pink power moons, the sunglasses on her blonde head... and that bikini that exposed more porcelain skin than Mario had ever seen. He felt completely ridiculous in his red swimsuit with white polka dots and wanted to sink to the depths of the crystal-clear waters of the kingdom just to prevent her from seeing him like that.

However, that couldn't overcome how stupid and embarrassed Mario felt when, just after rescuing her from Bowser's clutches, he got caught up in an absurd competition with the king of the Koopas to try to get Peach to agree to marry him. They may have both been wearing the perfect outfits, Peach in her beautiful white dress that made her look like an angel and him in his tuxedo of the same color and matching hat.

But Mario realized too late that this was not the right moment.

Still, he is content to have had the opportunity, albeit brief, to stand next to Peach while they both wore what would possibly be their wedding outfits. Mario knows that this will never happen again, that it’ll never come true, because the idea of trying to propose again wouldn’t even cross his mind. It took him a long time to forgive himself for his huge blunder, even though it took Peach only a few minutes to do so, and he’d never be able to be at peace with himself if he bothered her again.

Peach's friendship is very precious to Mario. He loves to meet her on his travels and share a few moments with her, full of fun and trust, which he wishes he could extend in time forever. In addition, on more than one occasion, Peach has asked him to accompany her to Lake Lemonade to make a new dress, and sometimes she has also invited Toad and Luigi. The people there are experts in haute couture, and Mario is always spellbound as he watches Peach pose for the seamstresses, who, in a matter of minutes, are able to create a new dress for her, each one more beautiful than the last.

And, on each occasion, Peach always turns on herself so that the dress can be appreciated in all its splendor, making her look more dazzling than a star and more radiant than the sun itself.

🎈 Balloon Brothers🎈

Shortly after he saved Peach, Mario made two decisions when he continued to travel the kingdoms on his Odyssey ship. The first one was to adopt his loyal doggy friend, the clever Shiba that has helped him find so many power moons during his adventure. He named her Hattie, as she adores wearing a hat on her head no matter where they travel to, and also because her favorite game is chasing after Mario's cap and bring it back to him.

And the second one, as soon as he ran into Luigi for the first time, was that he'd always play Balloon World with him.

Every world he travels to, whatever his purpose or the mission that takes him there, Mario always has time for his little brother and loves to play Balloon World with him. He adores seeing his sibling so cheerful and excited, and the way he claps and cheers him on always causes Mario’s unstoppable energy to soar and his heart to melt with tenderness.

In Fossil Falls, Luigi was so scared of the T-Rex that organizing the game for Mario served as a distraction and a way for him to release some stress, something Mario was extremely relieved about. In Forgotten Isle, the same bird that had captured Cappy was threatening to pop the balloons that kept Luigi in the air and that were an essential part of his outfit as the game organizer, which only motivated Mario to chase the darned bird with the help of his loyal Hattie, until, at last, and to the relief of both brothers and Cappy, he managed to scare it away.

However, as soon as Mario ran into Luigi in the Snow Kingdom, shivering with cold in his shirtsleeves, but still smiling at his brother and inviting him to play while hugging himself, Mario did not hesitate for a moment: he hurried to get rid of his orange coat and, ignoring Luigi's faint protests, threw it over his twin, taking care not to accidentally pop his balloons. Despite his initial reluctance, Luigi couldn't help but close his eyes as he snuggled into the garment, trying to get warm, and Mario, his heart shrinking, hugged him with all his might as he gently rubbed his arms and back. Luigi cuddled up to him and Mario stroked his hair gently, his mind flooded with memories of when they were both little and Luigi would run to hide in his bed because he thought there was a monster under his bed. Sighing as he held his sibling in his arms, trying to shield him from the cold and icy drafts, Mario didn't agree to play until after he had taken Luigi inside his ship to wrap him in a blanket and offer him a hot drink to warm up inside.

Nevertheless, the opposite thing happened in Tostarena: Luigi, always determined to stay true to his original outfit as the game's creator, was too warm for the scorching desert heat. Before playing Balloon World, Mario decided that his little brother needed a change to feel more comfortable. So he grabbed him by the hand and pulled him into the shop. Luigi had to bend down so that his balloons could go in with him, and Mario immediately tried to convince him to, like him, put on a typical costume of the land, poncho and wide hat included, to feel comfier while they played there. His twin resisted a little, always wanting to maintain the elegance a game show host should always display, but when Mario assured him that he could keep his green bow tie, Luigi finally gave in. And, seeing them both in matching outfits, Mario also managed to convince his brother to play Balloon World together, to which Luigi agreed only after gifting him one of his balloons for Mario to wear on his wrist.

And they've done it many more times since then: in Peronza Plaza, in Bonneton, in New Donk City... even on the Moon! Also, whenever they play in the Mushroom Kingdom, the Toads join them and Luigi ends up giving them as many balloons as possible so they can have fun playing on their own, being the kind-hearted person he is.

Of course, Mario is well aware that his sibling knows the locations of the balloons, being the organizer of Balloon World, but he equally enjoys touring the various worlds with his little brother by the hand, dragging him along while Luigi floats after him and simply lets himself go. Mario’s heart sings for joy with every laugh that escapes his twin’s throat, especially when Hattie also joins the fun and runs with them in search for the balloon, only to pop it as soon as they do. Mario also loves the way Luigi guides him, or often misleads him, to make his search for the balloon easier or more complicated. Mario likes to be challenged by the game and Luigi knows it, so he appreciates it when his brother tries to trick him to divert him from his initial goal. This lengthens the game, as well as the time the brothers spend together, thus increasing the fun.

However, when it's time to say goodbye, Mario can read in his brother's face that he’s just as reluctant to part with him as Mario himself. His complicated missions through the kingdoms and, also, the longing to be reunited with Peach and spend some time with her as well have caused Mario to have to leave his brother's side without really wanting to, his soul screaming in the depths of his being that he should not do so, that he should turn back and return to Luigi's side.

When the same thing happens to him in the Moon Kingdom, Mario finally stops before entering his ship and turns on his heels. He sees Luigi raise his head, confused to see him turn around, and the surprise on his face only grows when Mario starts running towards him, although a little slower than he’d like due to the moon's gravity. A smile breaks out on Mario's face as he speeds up as fast as he can, and he stretches out his arms as he approaches his little brother. Luigi barely has time to open his arms as well before Mario pounces on him.

Luigi's gasp causes Mario to burst out laughing as he spins around with his brother in his arms, holding him tightly. It takes him a few seconds to realize that both of them are now floating in the air, propelled not only by Luigi's balloons, but also by the lack of gravity prevailing on the moon. His sibling clings to him as he laughs shyly, and Mario pulls away from him a second before his feet touch down again.

Holding Luigi's hands tightly and energetically, Mario offers him to board his Odyssey ship and accompany him on his travels, so that they can continue playing Balloon World together as his adventure progresses. And, perhaps, Luigi could also help him during their missions, just like in the old days, when they visited faraway realms, such as Pi’illo Island or the Beanbean Kingdom, and even became partners in time.

As he speaks, Mario is very aware that his eyes are shining, full of excitement. His whole face must be, in fact, as euphoria bubbles up inside him like a river of unstoppable lava. He’s unable to keep completely still, so he inadvertently shakes his hands and, with them, those of his brother, as he explains his idea to him. And his enthusiasm undoubtedly rubs off on his twin, as Mario can read in Luigi's blue eyes, identical to his own, which are filling with a special glow that can only mean he shares Mario's eagerness.

And so it was that the brothers began to travel together.

✨ The Golden Trio ✨

In some of their first trips together, when the brothers are about to play Balloon World, Peach meets them and becomes a spectator of their games. Luigi welcomes her with open arms and quickly explains to her what Mario has to do, and while his brother is searching, Luigi reveals in whispers to the princess where the balloon his twin is looking for is hidden.

Although, at first, Mario is a little embarrassed that Peach is going to watch him while he searches, he quickly decides that he must do everything he can to impress her, so he puts more effort into finding the balloon quickly and on his own, despite Hattie's attempts to help him. Whenever he succeeds, Luigi praises him enthusiastically and gives him a big hug, which Mario reciprocates joyfully and heartily. Peach, after applauding him a little more demurely, leans over to place a kiss on his nose, causing Mario's whole face to light up until it looks redder than his shirt. This always happens under the watchful eye of Luigi, who doesn't miss the chance to give his sibling a playful nudge while trying to silence his giggles, causing Mario's blush to increase.

However, the third time Peach meets the brothers, Luigi has the idea of inviting her to participate in the game, which he eagerly puts to her. Both she and Mario are delighted, and Luigi immediately rearranges the game so that Mario and Peach can play in competition against each other.

Of course, respect and friendship prevail in the game. Mario continues to play as usual, but Peach often beats him, as she’s quick and smart, and he can only admire her more and more every time this happens. In fact, he’d say that he enjoys the occasions when the princess beats him the most, as he loves to see her so happy and enjoying herself when playing with him. Needless to say, even though Luigi is a most enthusiastic audience, Mario is the one who always applauds Peach the most, which makes her blush, something that doesn't happen to her when she thanks Luigi's compliments.

When the game is preparing to take place for the fifth time since Mario and Peach started playing together, Mario can't help but notice the way his brother is wringing his hands and fiddling with his fingers as he watches them. The game is about to begin, but he can't take his eyes off Luigi. He can read his face like an open book, something that has happened practically since they were born... and he doesn't like what he sees.

It's not that Luigi is sad. He's happy to be with them and eager to see them play Balloon World again. He's ready to cheer them both on and shower them with praise, as always, for, after all, his little brother is one of the sweetest and gentlest people he knows.

However, Mario can see in his gestures, in the way he bites his lower lip, in the way he fiddles with his own hands, in the way his eyes sparkle, that Luigi misses being able to join the game despite knowing the location of the balloons beforehand.

So even though Luigi gives the start command just a second later, Mario doesn't move.

And it pleases him greatly to realize that Peach, next to him, hasn't moved either.

When he turns his face towards her, Peach does the same. Mario barely needs a few seconds to realize that the princess, always as perceptive and as concerned about Luigi as he is, almost as if she were some sort of big sister to him, has also noticed the longing that shines in his little brother's eyes.

The two hold each other's gaze for a moment before smiling determinedly and giving one another a mutual nod. In unison, the two turn to Luigi, who looks from one to the other, his face the spitting image of bewilderment. As he and Peach start walking towards the game organizer, Mario can't help but let out a laugh in anticipation of what's about to happen, and he hears Peach let out a small giggle next to him that only makes his heart swell.

Decisively, they both hold Luigi, each with one hand, and Mario puts his other arm around Luigi's shoulders while Peach wraps her free arm around the younger plumber’s back. Luigi doesn't understand anything, but he doesn't resist, since, of course, he trusts them completely. Peach and Mario start walking while dragging him along, and the princess proclaims that, by royal order, Luigi must play Balloon World with them. This finally gets Luigi to relax and even laugh, and Mario feels his little brother squeeze his hand as he and the princess laugh together.

For a moment, Mario simply watches them. His heart fills with joy whenever he sees them getting along so well. He loves that Luigi has found in Peach a friend he can trust and be himself with, and he loves that the princess, in each of their interactions, shows that she truly cares about Luigi's well-being and wants only the best for him.

And he just loves them both so much that his heart could burst.

He couldn’t live without either of them.

When the game concludes, shortly before the brothers return to the Odyssey ship, Mario summons the courage to offer Peach to join them. That way, the three of them could travel together, keep each other company and help one another in their adventures, and they’ll always have the chance to play Balloon World together.

As he speaks, however, it occurs to Mario that perhaps he should have consulted Luigi before inviting Peach, so he throws a sidelong glance at his brother to try to apologize to him without words.

But Luigi, ever so sweet and kind, ever the man with the purest heart, is nodding eagerly as he hears his brother speak, and as soon as Mario concludes, Luigi turns to Peach and takes her hands while expressing how much he’d love for her to join them. Mario can't and won't hold back the look of intense love and adoration he gives his twin as he talks to the princess. Who, of course, gladly accepts.

Thus, Mario, Luigi and Peach, accompanied by the inseparable and always loyal Hattie, Cappy and Tiara, embark on the Odyssey to a new world. And, as they travel, the three of them look out the window, Mario and Luigi with their hands on the glass and looking at the clouds with excitement, and the princess, with a hand resting on the shoulder of each of the brothers as she joins in their excitement at the sight they are contemplating.

Their adventure has only just begun.

Headcanoning Persona 5 characters Mariokart mains, because I'm funny and I have way too much time to think about dumb things

Ren mains Shy Guy, usually green because he loves Kakyoin from JJBA. Mute City F-Zero is also his favorite Mariokart 8 track because of this.

Ryuji once said "I bet Ann plays Princess Peach", and Ann was so offended by the assumption that every time she intentionally takes Bowser before Ryuji can, so he has to pick his second favorite (Donkey Kong) instead. She doesn't even dislike Peach necessarily, she just never played Peach and was feeling petty.

Now, technically Ryuji could always just pick Dry Bowser- but unfortunately for him, Makoto always picks Dry Bowser, so he has no choice but to pick Bowser Jr, and he would rather just keep Donkey Kong.

Akechi doesn't really play Mariokart unless he's roped in by the group, so he never really had a main. The others kept throwing out suggestions for him to pick, and he kept shooting them down for various contrived reasons, only giving in because Futaba was the loudest and most obnoxious one shouting "Pick Yoshi". That's the day he became the Yoshi main.

Yusuke mains King Boo, and was extremely baffled and confused when Futaba blurted out "only sluts play King Boo" (Ann couldn't help but laugh at that).

Futaba would only play either Luigi or Waluigi, depending on her mood. Either way, she's a memelord about it.

Haru would be Daisy, because she's iconic and also they're very similar. Makoto pointed it out and Haru has picked Daisy every time ever since.

Morgana always picks Mario, but not just any Mario. Specifically Tanooki Mario. Everyone gave him a look, but he acted like this was perfectly normal behavior. If anyone brings up the resemblance, he will get extremely defensive.

Sumire almost exclusively played Rosalina, until one day she decided to pick Toadette out of nowhere. The group was kind of surprised, and she explained that she thinks it's cute, and never went back.

Zenkichi keeps refusing to play, and only gives in because Sumire is a sweetheart who suggests that he match her and pick Toad. He does, and it's funny as hell.

And finally, Sophia would pick Princess Peach, specifically Cat Peach with the pink car because it matches the colors. Before that she was just going to make a Mii of herself reluctantly, but Ann showed her Cat Peach and her eyes just lit up.
