Jahmine x Jacks
Tumblr media
Recently in my saturday campaign, an old partner in crime- and other things- showed up and joined our lovely band of npcs. Naturally my very fucked up cat is absolutely smitten with their very missed blue friend.
Jahmine's a gloomstalker assassin trickery cleric. Love a stealthy bitch.

[image ID: a digital drawing of baizhu from genshin impact in between two npcs, jialiang and jiangli. jialiang is hugging baizhu from behind and looking up at jiangli. jiangli is tipping baizhu's chin towards her and leaning into him. the background is tan and baizhu's green hair is the only other color. /end ID]

Just Zine With It
Hello! This is a new project, aimed to make Just Roll With It charter-centric zine(s)!
We would like to gather how many people are interested in participating, and which campaign would interest you all most! Hopefully, we'll be able to do more then one campaign, but for now we'd like to start small-ish, with one of the shorter campaigns (Poll link) (mod applications)
A bit about this zine!
We do not endorse any kind of harassment over Fandom. We'd like to keep drama out of this event, especially callouts or petty discourse. We are firmly against any and all types of censorship and won't stand for it.
We are looking for mods! Mod forms are already out! (x). Currently we (@anxious-mess19) are the only mod!
Each charter will get at least an art and writing piece, along with a short description! If we have extra people they may have more
We will attempt to include all charters, but pcs and plot relevant npcs will take priority
For any other question or concern please feel free to dm us or send an ask!

Fuck it, I'm just gonna say it: I hate the idea that all romance options should be available for every player character in a story-heavy, character-driven RPG. I totally get why game studios do this, they know people will inevitably complain if x character is unromanceable to either male or female PCs, so from the perspective of pleasing players who treat these games like self-insert power fantasies where they get everything they want, it's great.
But from an artistic and storytelling perspective it's incredibly shallow. Games like BG3 and Dragon Age may take place in fantasy worlds, but they're worlds that are fleshed out and complex so they feel real and relatable, with characters who are supposed to feel real and relatable. When there are 8 romanceable party members and all of them will date you the minute you get the chance regardless of gender (but only a few of them express bisexuality outside of a player romance) it feels cheap. "This character is otherwise never even implied to be queer, but if you're playing as a man and you want to kiss him, you won't be locked out of the romance route we wrote with a female PC in mind," is not a meaningful artistic depiction of queer sexuality, even if some players are satisfied by it. (And for the record, no, I'm not claiming EVERY romanceable character in BG3 is written like this. But you can't claim they were all intentionally written as bi or pan, because that clearly isn't the case.)
Character writing is stronger when it reflects reality, and in reality people have preferences. Some are bi/pan, some are straight, some are gay, some aren't interested in dating or sex at all, and some are just never going to be interested in you for a myriad of reasons. As a lover of storytelling I WANT characters in games that express these ranges and aren't all open to everyone solely for the sake of romance routes. When a game's entire cast consists solely of bi/pan characters (most of whom don't express any same-gender attraction outside a player romance), this isn't because of a genuine desire to depict bisexuality, it's using bisexuality as an easy and cynical way to make sure every character is romantically available to every player.
When DA:I came out I felt like Dorian and Sera were a huge step forward for representation in video games. They were companion characters who were gay, and the devs didn't sacrifice the characters' writing or identities so that they could be dateable for all players. As a gay player, I found Dorian's story incredibly touching and meaningful. Which raises the question: are we ever going to get important gay party members in a game like this again? Because right now it seems like the tide has turned to "everyone should be able to date everyone!" But even if these characters are thoughtfully and intentionally written as bi or pan, where does that leave gay characters? Gay sexuality for important NPCs doesn't fit into this model that prioritizes maximum satisfaction for players who treat these games like dating sims.
If you want video games to be taken seriously as an art form, that means acknowledging that character writing and depicting diverse human experiences should take priority over catering to every single player's whims all the time, especially when romance has never been the primary focus of these games.

The Thing: Remastered announced for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC - Gematsu
youtube
Nightdive Studios has announced The Thing: Remastered, a remastered version of the 2002-released horror third-person shooter. It will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam in 2024.
Here is an overview of the game, via Nightdive Studios:
“Many of us at Nightdive Studios are ardent fans of the horror genre, so it’s been an incredible honor to work within the world of the iconic The Thing,” said Nightdive Studios’ director of business development Larry Kuperman in a press release. “The 1982 film is a masterpiece and truly one of the most impactful pieces of art in the horror genre. With The Thing: Remastered, we’re honoring that legacy and Computer Artworks’ incredible game inspired by the story that further expanded the lore.”
About
The Thing: Remastered is a faithful restoration of the cult-classic 2002 third-person survival horror shooter game inspired by Universal Pictures and filmmaker John Carpenter’s genre-defining 1982 film, The Thing. Nightdive Studios has upgraded this horrifying classic for the modern era through its proprietary KEX Engine for play on current-generation gaming devices up to a 4K resolution at 120FPS. Improvements to character models, textures, and animations have been hand-crafted by Nightdive Studios, with the implementation of advanced 3D rendering for updated lighting and atmospheric effects—for a suspenseful and disgustingly detailed remaster that reanimates the thrilling game for modern audiences. In the frozen arctic tundra, a mysterious shape-shifting alien has wiped out the crew of the U.S. Outpost #31 research facility. In The Thing: Remastered, players step into the boots of Captain J.F. Blake, the leader of a United States Army Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the blood-curdling events that transpired in the original The Thing film. Trapped by the elements and at risk of infection by a horrific entity, Blake must keep his squad together to survive by gaining their trust and ensuring that their fear and paranoia don’t get the best of them… or himself.
Key Features
Return to U.S. Outpost #31 – Continue the story of The Thing and face off against terrifying monsters, from scuttling head-spiders and human-like walkers to gigantic multi-tentacled level bosses.
Who Goes There? – Command a squad of up to four NPCs from Soldier, Medic, and Engineer character classes through the game’s 11 frightening levels.
The Warmest Place to Hide – Someone in your squad may not be who they appear to be. The shape-shifting alien hides inside an imitation, so keep a watchful eye.
Don’t Lose It – Gain the trust of your squad members and minimize their fear levels lest they become defiant or, worse, succumb to paranoia.
Ultimate Alien Terror – Upgraded models, textures, and animations hand-crafted by Nightdive, plus enhanced lighting and atmospheric effects.
Stunning Visuals – Up to 4K 120 frames per second visuals on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Checkmate – Trophies and Achievements on Windows PC via Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

Ugh, this game! 😍 Also, hi! It's been... a while. But with Starfield on the horizon and a brand-new gaming PC on my desk (that I built with my own bare hands, tears were shed) - I'm back!
So to pass the time until September 6th, I decided to check out the Palia open beta (I've had this game on my radar for a year or so), and it's got me hooked. It's kind of like Stardew Valley x Animal Crossing (gameplay-wise) and Ghibli x WoW (art style-wise) and I'm very much here for it.
I've been playing for a few days now and I really like the cosy vibe, charming NPC's, cute home decor and fishing & cooking skills. That being said, there's a few downsides, like the insane (vanity) store prices and the lack of basic functions (just let me sit on my chairs and zoom the camera in and out!). I also wish there was more to the MMO element, there's no real need to group up and servers are small (25). Also, the world is not that big, although this doesn't necessarily have to be problematic (think Stardew) and the game is still in beta of course.
Thinking about trying out Palia? Use my referral link and we both get cute stuff > https://accounts.palia.com/sign-up?referral=8fb97384-7abb-465e-be88-075b63b75cb8 🎁 (It's free!)
Already playing? Add me as a friend (Cecelia Snow)!
