But before I end this horrible saga, I must thank @midnightcaptions because she's the one who annotated all of those PM's for me to provide as evidence. I just didn't have that kind of time myself due to work.

She also dug deep and found all their other blogs where they scam from (ask me for usernames if you wanna block). She proved they're all the same person even though they deny it, and found more of their scams such as trying to sell other people's art off Furaffinity as their own adoptables.

So, yeah. I couldn't have won the case without her. She was invaluable, words can't express my thanks enough. 💗💗💗

Evidence linked will be mostly in the form of call out posts that can be found by searching an accounts username on tumblr. If you are suspicious of an ask you receive, I suggest you please do the bare minimum and search their username on tumblr to see if they've been reported by other users to be a scam.

Reasons why all of these blogs listed here are scams:

Those saying they are 'vetted/verified' will not say by who.

Those saying they 'live(d) in Gaza' know nothing about it.

Those saying they are diabetic have no idea how diabetes works.

Their PayPal.me name are used by other scam accounts.

They use stolen stories/images (if searched via google).

They use multiple blogs to run the same scam.

They will reuse the same story word for word from past accounts.

They will block you if you try and ask questions. Go on. Do it.

They really like changing their 'real name(s). like, a lot.

Their accounts are only a few days/weeks/1-4 months old.

They reblog 5-10 things irreverent things then stop.

If you have any doubts about the validity of this post:

I would not, nor would I ever, willingly or knowingly put someone on this list if I knew 100%, without a doubt, that they were a real, genuine person looking for help.

I (personally) have spent hours of my time gathering evidence in the form of searching names, copy/pasting things over and over into tumblr and google just to try and find different blogs, taking screenshots and making collages in photoshop, writing down and making entire in depth posts about how and why a blog is or isn't running a scam.

And I'm not the only one who does this.

Scam buster blogs, helpful users/anons, and many others, have been looking into and tracking these scammers for months.

These are not individuals we just saw on tumblr and decided to pick on for shits and giggles.

They are scammers.

They don't care about whose story they use or whose pictures they stole. They don't care how it effects someone or what lives they ruin.

All they care about is money.

So, remember to report their PayPal accounts if you can please. :)

Scammers are now threatening to send your private information to law enforcement if you do not send them money.

This is 100% a scare tactic. You do not have to comply.

Your information is safe. Remember, they are scammers.

Just remember the golden rule:

You should never have to give money to get money.

This is just... so horribly disgusting. The fact that this can really mess with someone mentally and make them lose out on hundreds of dollars. How much of a deplorable excuse for a human being can you be to try and scam someone like this.

PayPal would never say something like this to someone, and the fact they're stooping this low just infuriates me.

As most of you know by now due to a multitude of posts that have been made about this person by different readers, @ recoveringinternetaddict is a scammer that has been bringing many tarot readers in financial trouble.

As of now the known victims of this person have been @bitchy-craft (me), @tarotwithavi and @starryfree.

We all have made posts about this person, but I still find it important to make another post about it, because this person is still charging back more, and will most likely continue to do so for as long as she can. Her card issuer, who decides on who wins all the cases has been approving her as the rightful winner the whole time.

I hate asking for help, but the amount she has taken from me keeps piling up, becoming more and more to handle. If anyone had been thinking about buying a reading from me, please do it now; I could really use the help.

Commission scam alert!

A scam is going around currently where someone will dm artists offering $200 via paypal to draw "their sons dog", regardless of the artists actual commission price which is typically much lower, so far I've seen the dogs name is often bailey but it can be other names too

The account will most likely be blank with no pfp, bio or posts and a small amount of likes and follows that all seem to be found on one or two tags. The usernames will be a combo of around 3 words that seem randomly generated. Typically they will insist on it being a specific payment method (currently it's paypal) and refuse to send money any other way

Here are the exchanges I had with them and their blank account, typically the scammer will follow this general script. Do not accept comms from a user coolcowboywitch

Here are the pictures of the dog they sent me, reverse image searching didn't come up with anything so I'm not sure where they're from (potentially AI generated), if you get sent these exact pictures it's most likely a scam

There are two main ways this scam can work:

1. They are attempting to steal your paypal login information or to trick you into sending them money. There are many ways they can do this, including sending phishing emails or claiming they can't pay you unless you send them money first

2. They will either send you money and then file a charge back or send you money that never processes in the first place, meaning you do the labor and never get paid. This can even lead to your account being overdrafted

A similar scam was going around on instagram a bit ago that instead offered $300

BOT SPAM AND FAKE PALESTINE DONATION ASKS.

All of these followed me at once at the exact same time as money donation "Palestine" blogs in my ask.

They spam followed me all at once when the asks showed up.

They operate between 9 pm to 9am Pacific Standard time.

That's when they all go on an ask sending overboard, like random posts, post nothing, sometimes have one post linking to a paid po/rn content blog or a PayPal or go fund me for someone of a totally different name with a stolen verification. I have started blocking all money asks since then. I won't post it nor flood the Free Palestine tags with scammers or will reblog them for my followers to see because I don't want them falling for scams.

Most are between 2 to 5 days old and use stolen pictures to appear like a genuine account.

If these bots have their "following" showing, they are almost all exclusively follow lgbtqia or political blogs to see who they can scam (a lot of them follow the same accounts, including mine no matter how much I block)

Last night my account was of 2072 verified real followers. This morning it jumped to 2101 and all new followers were these bots.

All spam/scam bots that I've reported to @support

Everyone, if you see this kinda activity over ask in your follows report and block.

They're riding on the Free Palestine donations train and even following accounts of minors while having unfiltered nude pics.

Those screenshots are only some of these accounts I've had trying to follow me over these past few days. It's a hoard almost daily and a spam of asks begging for money in the time frame I specified along with the follow spam.

Some try to pass as legitimate blogs when they're obviously not once you truly look at their account.

Had an older lady on the phone who said that tv show actor Oliver Stark was sending her money for her bills. She then got very angry we wouldn't turn her online banking back on after she gave out her info to this very legitimate person, whom shes been talking to for a year and a half now, so he could definitely send her money.

Seen as: I would like a commission of my son/pet... Scam Type: Commission Scam

Please read this post for a complete rundown of this scam.

While browsing #scams on tumblr earlier today, I saw a post from the wonderful and very talented @louksna-0 where they were calling out a scam account that seemed to be running the art commission scam.

After messaging them.. I found out something... interesting.

The scammers are now changing their script.

@louksna-0 was kind enough to answer some questions and help explain their interactions with this scammer with me, and even provided me with some screenshots which I'll show you all as well.

Part 1 - How it start(s/ed)

Note: @louksna-0 has told me that due to being blocked, they cannot access their conversation with this scammer, but they were kind enough to detail their conversation with me to the best of their ability. :)

@scam-alerts: When this person messaged you for a commission, what did they ask you to draw? What was your response, and what sort of images did they provide?

@louksna-0: They asked me to draw two cartoon portraits of a girl with blue eyes and blonde hair, it was 2 photos, but the second seemed to be taken from a video, not a photo itself. I told her alright, the two were separate drawings, one for $18, the other $20. $38 in the end. She started pressuring me for the details of the commission to get the process finished, being cold and even rude.

@scam-alerts: Did you tell them a price first, or did they offer you money first? Was this amount higher than normal, or was it the price of your commissions?

@louksna-0: I told them the price first, they didn't offer a price to pay. They were pressuring me to tell them the final price.

@louksna-0: I say them because although the profile seems like a girl. Her account of PayPal, email confirmation and Tumblr were all different. So I can't really say their gender. Her profile said Elizabeth, her email said mayes Mary, and her PayPal account said Margaret castro.

These were the screenshots provided to me:

image 1 - The scammer getting very persistent in having @louksna-0 check their spam email for confirmation that the money was sent.

image 2 - The different names that appear on the PayPal, blog, and email (in that order.)

Image 3 - A screenshot of the fake email. (the same exact one that can be seen in the previous scam exam(ination) report.

Image 4 - This one is.. odd. @louksna-0 says that this was sent to them by the same email with a request telling them to send a refund, yet it has a very odd and fishy looking link. (they did not click on it.)

Part 2 - Examining the Evidence

From what it looks like, the scam is pretty much the same 'I want you to draw my <thing>' scam except now they've switched from:

can you draw my son / daughter / pet. to can you draw this cartoon character*

*They might look at blogs now and see what an artists 'style' is to get a grasp on what an artist can do before trying to run this scam? Since not all artists can draw kids and/or pets? So that might be worth keeping an eye on.

They've also switched from:

Offering you a very large amount of money. to accepting commission prices to seem unsuspicious.

Part 3 - What you should do now

🚩Red flags still present🚩

Blogs sending these asks are either blank or bare in one way in another. Little to no reblogs, maybe 'one' picture or two posted. In this case the scammer just had a picture of a dog that probably isn't even theirs.

They will refuse to pay with any other method than PayPal.

The purpose of asking for your real name and your PayPal email is just so they can make a fake email to scam you.

Stop. Read the email very carefully. Think about what it's asking you.

'you are to send (name) money to expand your account.' You are to send someone money, to get money.

You can't just 'expand' your account by sending another user money. That's not how PayPal works.

Emails from these scammers will always show up in your spam folder because they are not from the real PayPal service. They are 100% fake. Only trust emails about PayPal from a @paypal.com email address. Any email claiming to be from PayPal ending in a gmail/hotmail/yahoo.com address is. a. scam.

Always check your PayPal account via the website or App for issues before responding to someone and certainly before sending anyone money. If you see no issues, there are no issues.

Never click links in an email you get during or after interacting with a stranger when money is involved. If someone asks: 'did you get the email?' Check your spam folder.' Make sure you click the link to fix your account.' It's a scam. And they're probably trying to hack you.

Final thoughts:

Remember, take screenshots and report these users to the websites they are running these scams on. If they DM you on tumblr? Report the DM. If they do it on insta, bsky, twitter or even discord?

Make sure you report them there too.

ALSO: Beware of recovery scammers. This is anyone coming into your DM's telling you they can 'help you get your money back' after you made a post talking about how you got scammed. These scammers are just looking for a quick buck.

SCAMMER ALERT

please help + update

Hello everyone. I am here with a personal update on the scammer @ recoveringinternetaddict, who stole 200 euros from me and similar amounts from 2 other readers ( @starryfree and @tarotwithavi )

PayPal had told me 2 days ago that the chargebacks were permanently cancelled, and that I didn't need to worry about anything anymore. Yet they were lying.

When I woke up I got an email that one case I filed against was permanently chargebacked from me and given back to the scammer. 6 cases have been given back permanently so far. Meaning nothing was permanently cancelled and that I did have to worry about everything.

Please, for anyone reading this. I hate asking for help but if anyone wants to buy readings from me please do it now, I really need the help.
