I've been making bead lizards every day for stress relief because it's the only pattern I know by heart. So I decided to look up some other patterns and found this gem
He died for our sins

Made a pair of lil squid fellas to sit on my desk :)
I didn’t like any of the squid patterns I found on the internet so i ended up making my own, and after some trial and error I ended up with these little guys. They’ve both even got little beaks! I’ve attached the pattern I made below if anyone wants it haha.
I used size 8 miyuki rocaille/round beads, some bugles and 0.28mm thread, but pretty much any size or shape should work. Hell, you could even use pony beads if you’re crazy enough.
If your thread’s long enough you can even do the whole thing in one go, I’d personally recommend that as it means you have less knots to tie up :).

finished my shawl!
#as ever pattern is booknits' mojito & yarn is madtosh tml+copper cousteau; beads are miyuki 6/0s in muscat#this used in the neighborhood of 400m of yarn + 900 beads#< notes that god willing i will enter into ravelry instead of leaving here only#knitting#box opener#look how great it is. im delighted.#i'll probably post full-spread photos as a blocking before-and-after or smth. you can see from this post that my blocking esp on the picots#was what you might call 'naturalistic'#BUT. still looks v cute imo. presumably it will need to get re-blocked at some point in its lifetime#and by then i will have more experience. and more pins.

teru in my outfit for today
#doctorsiren#mob psycho 100#teruki hanazawa#mp100 fanart#digital art#my art#procreate#I’m never drawing that pants pattern again in my life goodness gracious#luckily for the lemon shirt. I was able to find a picture of the fabric online bc I made that shirt and I just got the fabric from Walmart#and then for the perler earrings I was too lazy to draw them out so I just took pictures of them#I didn’t make the pixel art itself but I remade it in perler beads so I could have silly earrings#the only thing missing in this drawing are my cat ear headphones but i wasn’t tryna figure out how those would sit on his head lmao#anyways now onto working on my art fight refs :>#somehow without even intending to. there’s weirdly a consistent colour palette throughout my outfit despite how busy it looks at first#sparkle on!!!

And so the shawl continues to grow! Got a solid two hours of knitting in today, and am nearly to row 50! Getting the hang of beaded increases, and the specific way to mid pattern bind off isn't anywhere as annoying as I thought it would be.
Really just loving this shawl and wish I had more time in the day to knit it. And hell, enough time to do math to adapt it circular and stick it on a frame as a parasol. Probably not until tiny tot is safely in high school and won't try to run off with the yarn again.
#Mallorn shawl#Lace knitting#Lace rot#This pattern is so soothing to work#Will definitely make one without beads later

hi erin! i love your dividers so so so much; they're always so pretty and it's clear you put a ton of of work into them 💞 would it be possible to get some dividers that look like pronoun bracelets? like she/her, he/him, they/them alphabet letters with other beads? it's completely fine if not, i know you've got a lot in the queue already 😊 i hope you're having a lovely day 💗
Honestly anon I ADORE this idea!!! 🩵🌸

one time i was at a folk museum and got talking with an older lady folk artist (like late 60s/70s) who was doing bead weaving, and she told me that she's been working here for a while, but only started bead weaving recently, because they asked her "hey, do you know bead weaving? if yes, can you demonstrate it for the visitors?" and she was just like "yeah, of course i know how! no problem :)" and then went home and typed "bead weaving tutorial for beginners" into youtube.
i left that conversation with a lot of bead weaving tips, but the real lesson i learned was "lie to your employers, the skill can't be THAT hard to master." ❤️
#and also “the technological progress is your friend”#for an actual bead weaving tip she told me that she likes to just convert cross-stitch borders into beaded bracelets#it doesn't take a lot of effort you mostly just have to mess around with the colors. sometimes make it a lil less wide.#she showed me the bracelet she was making (pretty rose pattern)#and the cross-stitch border she converted it from#and then she drew the border of the tablecloth of that table on some graph paper to show me what she meant lol#super nice woman i ❤️❤️❤️ talking to folk artists#i am always very enthused and they are also very enthused to meet someone excited about the art#🌌

Free to use Kandi pattern!
Free to use Kandi pattern!
I don’t really know how to calculate a bottom piece because it really depends on your method on attaching everything. So wing it I guess or find a video about it. I found my way by watching Planet Marz in TikTok. (My whole Kandi inspo. Fr fr)
I’m tempted to make this bag at some point. It won’t be soon at all because money and time. But I would love to see somebody else use the patterns I’ve made and poured love into.

Shetland Lace Class
The knitter's guild had Lauren Nelkin, a knitting pattern designer who also teaches knitting classes, host a series of classes this weekend, and I was fortunate enough to be able to snag a spot that had opened up for her class on Shetland lace knitting this morning! These are the swatches I made of the bead stitch and bird's eye stitch, though I mostly worked on the bird's eye stitch at home. There's also a sample of a lace edging that's quite a bit bigger repeat, and a bit more intimidating, that I'll attempt to swatch up later.
#crafts#description in alt text#knitting#knitblr#shetland lace#lace rot#you can also possibly spy a repeat of birds eye lace in the bead stitch swatch#this is because i attempted it in class but dropped a stitch and couldn't find it to pick it up#so instead i just bound off and tried again on a new swatch#Lauren discouraged using stitch markers to mark our repeats because some of the decrease were across the stitch marker#so i wasn't using them in class but very very much should have been#so it was infinitely easier to keep track of the pattern when i got home and added stitch markers to the second swatch
