So i’ve perfected my personal sock recipe.
I tried something out with smaller needles for the toe area and reinforcing the ball of the foot with a slip stitch and I LOVE how it turned out.
They’re sooo comfy, warm, and a little supportive. It’s only taken knitting like… 15 pairs of socks to get to this point??
Yarns are Patons Classic Wool Worsted in Brown Mustard and Dark Gray Mix.

Crochet Texting Gloves Pattern + Tutorial
Crochet Texting Gloves Pattern + Tutorial
Crochet Fair Isle Texting Fingerless Gloves Crochet Texting Fair Isle Fingerless Gloves One of the best Crochet Fingerless Gloves I have ever crocheted. These fingerless gloves have fair isle techniques involved. Dropping and adding yarn colour strategically to create a simplistic design into the glove. Both gloves are the exact same pattern. There is no right or left version. Due to the size of…

paton's classic wool worsted is such a good yarn and it kinda rots me that paton's is seemingly made by by yarnspirations just like just about everything else that i don't have to go online to buy because most yarnspirations yarns are either straight up acrylic or they're called something like WOOL-feel™ and you check the label expecting a bit of wool and it's like, 58% acrylic, 29% polyester, 6% asbestos, 6% recycled polyester, and 1% teflon. man you made such a good wool yarn with paton's classic wool worsted why did you have to stop there
#rubia speaks#knitting#crocheting#knit#crochet#yarn#wool#yarnspirations#their patterns are nice though. thanks for the patterns. i'm not making it in acrylic though sorry#paton's classic wool worsted#yarn crafts#yarn arts

I went to Michael's yesterday to explore (and bc I haven't been there in 2-3 years) and the yarn selection is Abysmal,, 90% of the stock is now Loops & Threads and there was barely any Patons yarn in stock :1
#patons yarn has def gotten shittier w time but I bought some sock yarn anyway#the store in general felt emptier than before like there was less stock#and they got rid of the cashiers!! there was only one and the self-checkout booths were buggy and slow#zeke speaks#I was gonna check out the paton's classic wool worsted and...it feels so cheap and the colours look bad#I'd much rather get briggs & little regal which is less expensive feels like actual wool and is produced in canada

Huh, upon cursory search everyone talking about black bean dye talks about dyeing cotton yarn even though cellulose-based fibers have a reputation for being trickier to dye. I think I forgot the extent to which animal fibers are foreign to a general audience...
#to be clear this is not a dig#it was something i experienced#'tis hard to find protein fibers at your average craft store. though felting has made unspun protein fibers more common#with the caveat that you can find a few wool blends and maybe some 100% superwash wool#and one brand of feltable singles (paton's classic <3)#but i've been so immersed in the animal fiber world of late that i forgot that people don't use it#because 'tis actually hard to find and thus more inaccessible to a general audience#though i must say. if you've got alum lying around and aren't pickling then i'm surprised you're not reaching for protein fibers#but maybe it's the reputation for uncomfortable fabric or the cheapness of cotton#(should not be so cheap with how resource-intensive it is to grow and process it imo)#anyways i have a dedicated dye pot now and can use mordants without worrying about poisoning the cooking pots

one of the nice things about interlocking crochet is that you can pretty freely mix and match different fibres and yarn weights (and just use whatever hook is lying around) something you can’t really do in other colourwork techniques.
my favourite pairings among the breeze block samples are the two in the bottom right:
this one is wool roving yarn for the grey and worsted weight wool (not superwash) for the outlines.
this is just dishrag cotton (sugar and cream probably— i was in america when i made it) and the same worsted wool outlines as the cinderblock (both are patons classic wool worsted)

good afternoon, i just saw a post about your leafy knitted blanket thing and i was wondering what kind of needles you used?
Hello! I'm not sure how specific you want, but I used Knit Picks Majestic interchangeable circular needles in size 8 US (5.0mm) with a 40" cable.
And in case anyone wants to know other info on the blanket, the pattern is Linda Gloss's Leaves and Twists Afghan, which is free on Ravelry. The yarn is Paton's Classic Wool Worsted in the color Natural Mix. I used 9 skeins and the finished blanket ended up being about 42"×64"

I got new yarn and promptly vanished. Whoops.
I've been trying to keep up with amigurumay on Instagram but it's been tricky! I have had a very spread out deadline these past few weeks and it limits my time a little more than I care for.
Anyway, here's some of my current stuff!
I have a link to my yarn unbagging on my ko-fi page if anyone likes those kinds of things 😁

Frosted Knit Fair Isle Adult Hat
Frosted Knit Fair Isle Adult Hat
DOWNLOAD FROSTED HAT FREE PATTERN Frosted Fair Isle Hat The Frosted Fair Isle Knit Hat has me over the moon with joy! Omg, the pleasure I felt in completing this hat was enormous. I took this pattern on holiday with me. I got to Belize and pulled out the yarn and pattern to realize I should have had four colours, not three. So I made due as I wasn’t going to let that stop me. So my hat is the…

Starting new things is more fun than working on old things!
But for real, I managed to do a number to my thumb (its fine, was NOT fine for a couple days) and as a result I struggled to hand stitch, but I found that knitting wasn't nearly so painful/difficult. However the projects I had going already were on small needles and I just didn't have the dexterity for that. I've been percolating on this idea for a while, seriously enough I'd been collecting the yarn in the colors I wanted (Paton's Classic Wool). So finally I swatched, washed the swatch and got going on the math.
This is going to be an improvised oversized cardigan (very 80s in silhouette) and I am using a couple dice to make my color choices for me. Its chugging right along and as long as I take the time to clean up my ends at the end of the row I see this continuing happily for quite some time.

I have about 10” done of the classic cabled sweater. I’m using KnitPicks Simply Wool Worsted in “Winnie”and it’s so pretty! It’s hard to get a good picture because even in person it can look so different depending on lighting. I’d say it’s mostly gray with some warm beige tones in the heather that come out more in some lights. I also think this sweater is coming out the right size to fit me well, and I’m really excited about it!
(Pattern is “Patons Honeycomb Aran”)
