For some reason, the dnd:hat movie has been living rent-free in my head for over a week. Xenk is just rattling around in there right now, having a long talk with Kira about morality, mortality, personal sacrifice, and being a child who saw the Beckoning Death unleashed on their home.
I feel like Xenk would have a lot to say that Kira needs to hear, and be a good listener for the things Kira needs to talk about that she can't tell her dad or Holga. He'd probably benefit from talking to her, too. Kira almost experienced the same tragedy he did when he was her age. It would be cathartic for him to help her through that, knowing he helped save her from ever experiencing what he went through
#edgin and holga want kira to be safe and happy#and I'm sure they'll talk with Kira about what she went through too#but there are a lot of questions Kira might have that they're not equipped to answer#especially about THEM and the tablet of reawakening#and edgin is struggling too much with his own questions about morality and personal preservation vs personal gain vs doing good#xenk is respectable and also patient and understanding and supportive enough to be the perfect confidante for a confused eleven year old#and he's lived the Bad Ending of the traumatic experience she skirted past#she also looks a bit like Ishara#the girl he saw lost in the fog before he ran#and I'm sure the filmmakers did that intentionally so Ishara would remind us of Kira and what was at stake#but it's very easy to turn that around and have Kira remind Xenk of Ishara#dungeons and dragons: honor among thieves#d&d:hat#dnd hat#dnd:hat#xenk yendar#kira darvis#I can't imagine this post will be interesting to more than like. three people#but it's interesting to me!!!#Kira saw one of her parents die in front of her!!#she's eleven years old!!#Xenk has already worked through a mountain of survivor's guilt incurred at a similar age#he's the ideal mentor for her!!#it's all about being the person you needed 😭😭😭#it's all about forgiving yourself for not stopping what happened to you by stopping it from happening to someone else#if you need me I'll be lying in a puddle thinking about grief and processing trauma

Bedside Monitors Explained: Functions, Advantages, and Cost Considerations
Tumblr media
How do Bedside Monitor Work?
Bedside monitors are essential medical devices designed to continuously track a patient's vital signs in real time. They work by using various sensors and electrodes to capture critical physiological data such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation (SpO₂), respiratory rate, and sometimes temperature and other parameters, depending on the model.
The monitor is equipped with multiple sensors or probes that are attached to the patient’s body. Once connected, these sensors continuously send data to the bedside monitor. The device processes the data through algorithms to provide accurate, real-time readings.
The monitor displays the data on a screen, often with individual panels for each parameter. The display is typically bright and easy to read, allowing quick assessment. Monitors are usually set up with alarms to alert caregivers if a reading falls outside of a safe range.
Modern bedside monitors can store data over time for trend analysis and are often connected to a central monitoring system.
Bedside monitors play a critical role in patient care by offering accurate, continuous observation, especially in intensive care, emergency departments, and during surgeries.
What are they used to bedside monitor?
Bedside monitors are used to continuously observe and measure a patient's vital signs, providing essential information for healthcare providers to make informed decisions. Here are some common applications scene for bedside monitors:
Intensive Care Units (ICU): Bedside monitors are crucial in ICUs. They track key metrics such as heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, alerting staff to any changes that may need immediate attention.
Emergency Departments (ED): In emergency settings, bedside monitors are used to assess patients quickly and monitor their stability. They provide real-time data, helping emergency physicians make fast, informed decisions during critical moments.
Operating Rooms (OR): During surgeries, bedside monitors track a patient’s vital signs to ensure they remain stable under anesthesia.
Post-Operative Recovery: After surgery, patients are often monitored until they stabilize.
General Wards and Step-Down Units: Bedside monitors help track vital signs as patients wake from anesthesia and recover, ensuring they respond well and identifying any potential complications.
These monitors allow medical staff to intervene quickly and improve patient outcomes across various medical environments.
What are bedside patient monitors expensive?
Bedside monitors are highly beneficial in healthcare settings due to their ability to provide real-time, continuous monitoring of a patient’s vital signs. Here are some key benefits:
Enhanced Patient Safety: Bedside monitors often include alarms to alert medical staff if any parameter goes beyond a safe range.
Improved Efficiency for Medical Staff: Continuous monitoring reduces the need for frequent manual checks by nurses or doctors, freeing up their time for other patient care tasks.
Better Data for Informed Decision-Making: Bedside monitors collect data over time, allowing healthcare providers to analyze trends and make more informed treatment decisions.
Enhanced Recovery and Post-Operative Care:  Any post-operative complications can be detected and addressed promptly, improving recovery outcomes.
Are bedside patient monitor expensive?
The cost of bedside patient monitors can vary widely depending on the monitor’s features, complexity, and brand. Here are some factors that influence bedside patient monitors' price: Features and Functionality, Display Quality and Size, Technology and Connectivity, Durability and Portability
Basic bedside monitors can range from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. While the upfront cost of bedside monitors can be high, they are considered a valuable investment because they help prevent complications, improve patient outcomes, and enhance workflow efficiency. Many healthcare providers consider the long-term benefits and cost savings in patient care when deciding on the investment.

considering the state of camp it's likely half of will's medical equipment is failing or from a previous century and therefore so out of date there's no longer parts made for it, so not only are you being prepped for surgery where your surgeon is like 15 but he also walks in with the most out of date unrecognizable equipment you've ever seen and then knocks you out with the anesthetic....

being a part of a marginalized group does not give you a free pass to target and abuse disabled people.
ableism is still ableism. even if the person being ableist is poc or lgbt. even if it's "just a cultural difference".
we are constantly fucking forgotten or told to be grateful for "what we've been given".
lmao
I live in the US and we have a bare few fucking laws to protect us (disabled people). the rehab act and the ADA are the two that come to mind immediately, and the ADA is barely ever fucking enforced. I was recently refused entry at an urgent care center because I have a service dog. I filed a complaint with the DOJ, which is ALL YOU'RE FUCKING ALLOWED TO DO and I received, in writing;
"We won't be investigating this further".
And every other fucking sd handler I've spoken to in the past TWO YEARS has had the same shit happen; even when we have proof, even when we have video or audio or literal image proof of being discriminated against. even if we have it in WRITING. What happens if you call the police? Nothing. They run with the claim of "we don't enforce federal/civil law". Present them with state law that is equal to or more protective than the ADA? "well that's still a civil law" or an entire refusal to hear or see the law.
we don't even fucking have the right to marriage. We literally do not. Because some of us will lose our insurance and SSDI checks. Which means we will die.
It feels like the whole fucking system is set up to kill us.

this is a random late night thought, i know, but i'm just thinking about how the orderlies in arkham must react to finding barton cuddling with his bunkie in the morning if they had a nightmare orrr they both needed to get warm (like i believe i've mentioned previously on here before). like, idk what gave me this impression, but for those of them that just don't give a shit about their job rather than the abusive a-holes (i honestly feel like these are the two main categories of orderlies that work at arkham, NGL)...
i really do feel like they'd do something like place bets between themselves as to whether they think something is going on between certain inmates or not. and when they're either proven right or wrong, they exchange the money they bet on it. because these people unfortunately could not care less about the fact that in barton's case (and possibly in other's cases), he literally does it as a means of survival / to have a source of comfort most of the time because that place is god awful

6 Things To Consider Before Purchasing Medical Equipments
Selecting the right Medical Equipment for your laboratory or hospital can become a serious challenge, especially if you have little or no knowledge of how to go about it. The market is full of fraudsters who are trying to defraud you of your hard-earned money while purchasing a medical device and hence, one needs to be very careful while purchasing a diagnostic device.
To buy the best Medical Equipment for your hospital or laboratory, here are 6 factors that should be given due conside ration.
1.   Price:
This is one of the major concerns that you should keep in mind while purchasing a medical device. By price we mean the total amount of money it costs to install, run and maintain the Patient Equipment. Other items to consider under this factor should include; Cost of consumables and replacement parts, The price of the device has been compared with its competition in the market, and previous models have been compared side by side. You need to know if the device is worth every penny you paid for it.
2.   Service Contract:
Make sure you know the total duration of the warranty given to you by the manufacturer. Buy Patient Equipment only with warranty. Warranty periods vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Also consider the terms of service and how much it might cost you. Know the nature of the contract (i.e., is it for a short or long term?). Make sure you agree to the company's terms and conditions before purchasing their product.
3.   Availability of parts and Consumables
Before purchasing any Medical Equipment, you need to know whether the parts and consumables of the machine are easily available. This will relieve you from the stress of finding parts if the machine breaks down.
4.   Technical Support & System Updates
This includes access to customer support and system upgrades if needed. Buy only such medical devices in which you can easily get customer support to help you solve some problems related to the functioning of your medical device.
5.   End User
The skill level of the operating personnel should also be taken into account, unless you are interested in sending them to seminars or workshops where they can learn how to use the new equipment. You need to know whether the end user will require any type of training before using the diagnostic device. It is advisable to purchase Medical tools that can be used by your operators or you can send them to a workshop for this purpose.
6.   Usage
How often do you want to use the machine before purchasing a new one? The answer to this question will give you the right guidance on the best type of Medical Equipment to buy.
