Drop Jump Exercise (1 Foot) | Shock Training Plyometrics
Tumblr media
Drop Jump Exercise (1 Foot) | Shock Training Plyometrics Most people focus on plyometrics that involve jumping to higher and higher boxes trying to get more explosive. Drop Jump Exercises focus on the landing of the movement instead of the actual jump itself. What people forget about is that no matter the height of the jump you make, you'll always have to land from that jump. And if you do not feel comfortable landing from that jump, then you'll only have so many jumps before you start to feel tendon pain or injury. Shock training plyometrics are great for the health of the tendons that you use in support. Mainly the Achilles and patellar tendon. Drop jump landings should be included in the majority of peoples programs as it can be scaled appropriately to many ages!

Four years ago tonight, I was in the hospital after rupturing my patellar tendon at a fundraising basketball game on behalf of work. Two nights after surgery, I blacked out, fell, and tore all the ligaments connecting my shoulder and collarbone. Three surgeries later, and I still have 24/7 pain in both limbs. I try to be positive and funny on here, but unending pain sure makes life more miserable than it should be. . . . . . #California #SantaBarbara #SantaMaria #Chico #knee #kneeinjury #patellartendon #meniscus #meniscustear #shoulder #collarbone #doctor #surgery #recovery #physicaltherapy #Thursday #ThrowbackThursday (at California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cnn6XkELlqZ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Well, it’s official I tore my patella tendon. Luckily it’s a partial tear and not a full rupture but it has still consumed my every waking thought since I found out 🤪 - I’ve been babying my knee for weeks now trying to get it to heal. It wasn’t getting any better so I ended up asking my doc for an MRI. Yep it’s torn… explains why it wasn’t getting better. 😕 - This is the knee I’ve already had 4 surgeries on so to say I’m frustrated is an understatement 🤪 - My current treatment options are: Surgery or I can try something called PRP injections ( plasma rich platelets ). This is where they take your own blood, spin it in the little machine thing ( I’m so scientific ) and then take the plasma and inject it into the tendon. It is not guaranteed to work, but it is a less invasive option that could help me avoid surgery #5. - On top of researching this treatment option, I’ve had to really shift my mindset because training is the thing that grounds me and is like the one thing in my life I have control over. - I won’t be giving up and will still be doing everything I can in the meantime. I was hoping to one day compete in classic physique but it looks like I will be staying in mens physique for now. - Plan from here: Keep pushing myself to bring a better physique than I did the last time. I still got my upper body to bring up and I refuse to quit. - In the meantime if you have any personal experience with PRP injections I would love to hear your about your experience! - This ain’t a dead end, just a detour! Keep going! 💪 - #fitness #kneeinjury #patellartendonitis #patellartendon #patellatear #patellartendinopathy #kneesurgery #orthopedics #fitness #bodybuilding #mensphysique #keepgoing #determined https://www.instagram.com/p/CbLrsoivByy/?utm_medium=tumblr

This going to be a big rant! 🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘 As you all know I’ve been doing #peritonealdialysis since 2012; starting with twin bag exchanges before switching to the cycler. With the twin bag exchange; I need to drain 5X/day otherwise I absorb the 2L if fluid that is put in. 🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘 So we will go back to May 1, 2018. It was a cool cloudy windy day. Temps were 13 but with windchill is was single digit temps . It didn’t help that the ground was still frozen from having a late winter. 🆘 As you know, I had a bad fall and struggled with my level of care since then. It took a week before discovering that I fractured 3 small bones in my foot. Afterwards, everyone was apologetic about not listening or believing my pain was high. This was when Dr Balyk took over as the orthopaedic care. 🆘 I was told that my knees would recover on their own time. 🆘 I was transferred to the Glenrose Rehabilitation hospital for intensive physiotherapist. While there I had 3 incidents of knee buckling. More X-rays on the knee - again nothing spotted on the X-rays. 🆘 Was released from the Glenrose on July 5. While I was home, I had 3 more falls due@to knees buckling. 🆘 Finally got to see Dr Balyk on November 7 after more X-rays discovered I had a ruptured #patellartendon it was so bad that it required actually reconstruction as opposed to a repair. 🆘 I finally had surgery on my knee; turns out there was an old infection so the knee need to be cleaned, so there was a 2 wk delay for the actual repair of the tendon. 🆘 So this brings me to yesterday. It was decided that I was being transferred from Unit 34 to Unit 32. (Discovered my wheelchair that is on loan from the AHS Equipment Loan Program has gone missing) 🆘 So spent 1/2 an hr packing up everything in my room and was whisked off to my room. 🆘 So I had my dialysis at 2 & 6 with no problem, the #peritonealdialysis nurse from Unit 51 located me and was able to set me up to do my afternoon and evening dialysis. 🆘 Now wee nearing My bedtime exchange....no pd nurse at all. The unit clear and my nurse call@up to 51 and was told that I had been discharged! 🆘 So I’ve put in a third complaint to deal with this...sigh. #imjustdone https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq91m1OFCMI/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1azza3rwjanu4

Congrats to long term Go Performance athlete Craig (Masters Decathlete), coming back from a patellar injury and winning the 110m hurdles in his first event this season! We’ve worked hard to find the right balance between performance enhancement and management of a patellar tendinopathy. Are tight quads the cause of your knee pain? Do you cycle, run or ride horses without any sports massage treatment to keep those quad muscles loose and working properly without pulling the Patella (knee cap) out of place? There’s nothing more annoying than a niggling knee pain that stops your from giving your full performance. It can mentally hold you back as well due to fear of pushing harder and causing an injury. The best thing to do? Look after your body with sports massage! #sportsmassage #running #cycle #workout #patella #patellartendonitis #kneecap #knee #promuscletherapy https://www.instagram.com/p/CCg8yrUj5ad/?igshid=ltxn9mss4d57

So I recently developed a beautiful little case of #patellartendonitis, aka #jumpersknee. Aside from the fact that I am rehabbing it, a #personaltrainers friend of mine offered to let me try out his #ironbullstrength #kneesleeves to see if they're more effective than what I already use. After a week's worth of use I can report that these are tighter around my legs than my other sleeves AND they provide significantly more compression as well. I was absolutely pain free last night, as I squatted 305x3x5. Alex, you're the man. Thanks dude! #unitedinstrength #igfitness #fitfam #fitness #onlinestrengthcoach #beginnersstrengthcoach #strength #strong #kneepain https://www.instagram.com/p/B5FniPvD1SI/?igshid=u1ef7wmrfhvg

Hey, @plaediantruth70x7 David& everyone, here is Video of My Knee: My Osgood Schlatter Syndrome: Thousands of Microscopic Fractures& Cavity/Calcium Deposits& worst of all the Extra Bone that is always Growing& grows back after every Patellar Tendon Repair &Removal of this Extra Bone regrowth that Tears through My Patellar Tendon every 1to3yrs. I needed My 3rd Surgery of the Removal of this Extra Bone Regrowth over a Year ago by My Knee Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Kang, but I'm dealing with TOO much- My Shoulder Surgeries &Dislocations &MANY Trips to the ER everytime I have an Anterior Shoulder Dislocation& My Upcoming Surgery (then 2 More before the next 6to9months are done including My 3rd Replacement Surgery/2nd Total Shoulder Replacement Arthroplasty) &of course My problems that come with having Epilepsy& OF COURSE the Seizures I have&every time I have a Seizure My Shoulder dislocates in the WORST &most DAMAGING/DESTRUCTIVE Way! Which is why Ive had over 20Shoulder Surgeries in just under 13Yrs; because Every Seizure I have causes the MOST Severe Contorted Shoulder Dislocations& COMPLETELY RUINS everything positive from that recent Shoulder Surgery. Most People probably dont believe Me when I tell them how many Shoulder Surgeries I've had in under13years, but after I explain how EVERY Seizure I have (which btw, are always Grand Mal Seizures that last a minimum of 25-35min &also always 1 right after the other& No doctor knows why I always have 2 Seizures back to back) causes the Worst/Most Severe/Destructive& Damaging Dislocations that ALWAYS destroy all benefits of the Previous Shoulder Surgery, they realize why I've had so many. Also, some Seizures happened not even a week after a Shoulder Surgery. &the damage those Contortions (because I Contort during My Grand Mal Seizures, I dont shake like in the Movies or like some epileptics do) &Dislocations from My Seizures did to My Shoulder soon AFTER a Surgery, didn't just ruin the Surgery's Positives, but also made My Shoulder MUCH worse than before the Surgery! #DontKnowWhatIdDoWithoutMyFriends #osgoodschlatter #shouldersurgery #patellartendon #LouiesLifeUpdate #LOUnacyArt #lou_tom_tram_collectibles #LOUnacyComics (at Nassau County, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDm7iYWhAms/?igshid=curiq52exvz2

High Tendon Load (HTL) day for Craig who has a Patellar Tendinopathy following an unplanned spike in intensity. I’m not usually a big fan of machine exercises but in this context (early stage rehab), they’re ideal. We’ve been using Isometric holds at varying degrees of knee flexion as part of his training plan and within 2weeks, we’ve noticed a big improvement. HTL days are followed up with Medium and Low Tendon Load days. So far, so good! #rehab #quads #patellartendon #RTP #stage1 #progress #strengthandconditioning #gotraining #york #PT (at University of York Sports Centre)
