How do deficits in hip muscle strength interfere with patellar tendinopathies? | Rodrigo Scattone
Tumblr media
In this enlightening discussion led by Rodrigo Scattone, the intricate connection between deficits in hip muscle strength and patellar tendinopathies comes to the forefront. Dr. Scattone delves into how weaknesses in hip muscles can disrupt the biomechanical chain, leading to altered forces on the patellar tendon. By examining this relationship, listeners gain a comprehensive understanding of the role that hip muscle strength plays in the development and management of patellar tendinopathies. This episode offers valuable insights into rehabilitation strategies and preventive measures, highlighting the importance of addressing hip muscle deficits for optimal knee health.

How do deficits in hip muscle strength interfere with patellar tendinopathies? | Rodrigo Scattone
Tumblr media
Deficits in hip muscle strength can significantly interfere with patellar tendinopathies, as explained by Dr. Rodrigo Scattone. 🏋️‍♂️🦵 Hip muscles play a crucial role in maintaining proper lower limb alignment and distributing forces during movements. When these muscles, such as the glutes and hip abductors, are weak or imbalanced, it can lead to altered mechanics and increased stress on the patellar tendon.

Well, it’s official I tore my patella tendon. Luckily it’s a partial tear and not a full rupture but it has still consumed my every waking thought since I found out 🤪 - I’ve been babying my knee for weeks now trying to get it to heal. It wasn’t getting any better so I ended up asking my doc for an MRI. Yep it’s torn… explains why it wasn’t getting better. 😕 - This is the knee I’ve already had 4 surgeries on so to say I’m frustrated is an understatement 🤪 - My current treatment options are: Surgery or I can try something called PRP injections ( plasma rich platelets ). This is where they take your own blood, spin it in the little machine thing ( I’m so scientific ) and then take the plasma and inject it into the tendon. It is not guaranteed to work, but it is a less invasive option that could help me avoid surgery #5. - On top of researching this treatment option, I’ve had to really shift my mindset because training is the thing that grounds me and is like the one thing in my life I have control over. - I won’t be giving up and will still be doing everything I can in the meantime. I was hoping to one day compete in classic physique but it looks like I will be staying in mens physique for now. - Plan from here: Keep pushing myself to bring a better physique than I did the last time. I still got my upper body to bring up and I refuse to quit. - In the meantime if you have any personal experience with PRP injections I would love to hear your about your experience! - This ain’t a dead end, just a detour! Keep going! 💪 - #fitness #kneeinjury #patellartendonitis #patellartendon #patellatear #patellartendinopathy #kneesurgery #orthopedics #fitness #bodybuilding #mensphysique #keepgoing #determined https://www.instagram.com/p/CbLrsoivByy/?utm_medium=tumblr

Signs & Symptoms Of Patella Tendonitis AKA Jumpers Knee!
Patellar tendinopathy (or as it is commonly known patellar tendonitis or tendinitis) is an overuse injury affecting your knee. It is the result of your patella tendon being overstressed. A common name for it is Jumper's Knee.
Signs and Symptoms of Patellar Tendonitis:
Anterior knee pain over the patella tendon
Pain made worse with jumping, landing or running activity and sometimes with prolonged sitting
Onset of pain is usually gradual and commonly related to an increase in sport activity
Localised tenderness over the patella tendon
Often the tendon feels very stiff first thing in the morning.
The affected tendon may appear thickened in comparison to the unaffected side
In most cases, you can start treating a tendon injury at home. To get the best results, start these steps right away:
Rest the painful area, and avoid any activity that makes the pain worse.
Apply ice or cold packs for 20 minutes at a time, as often as 2 times an hour, for the first 72 hours. Keep using ice as long as it helps.
Do gentle range-of-motion exercises and stretching to prevent stiffness.
Have your biomechanics assessed by a physiotherapist.
Undertake an Eccentric Strengthen Program. This is vital!

Been working really hard to bring my back up. The left picture is from August 2021 and right picture is from Wednesday. - Main parts I’ve been wanting to bring up are my legs and back. Unfortunately since I tore my patella tendon I’ve not been able to bring my legs up 😢 but I’m happy to see some back progress. I’m especially happy to see an increase in back thickness 😁 - As for the legs; I’m scheduled for PRP injections on the 22nd and then it is another 6 weeks of recovery and PT to try to heal this damn tendon. 😫 - It’s sad seeing my leg progress I did make start to dwindle but I just have to remind myself I’ve done this recovery thing so many times before and I know I will once again bounce back 💪 - If you are struggling with an injury or feeling discouraged with your progress, stay patient and always do what you can. Focus on the things you can control. Doing something is better than nothing and time is going to pass anyways so you might as well at least take baby steps forward! 😁 - #flexfriday #fitness #fit #bodybuilding #mensphysique #classicphysique #npc #ftm #ftmbodybuilding #strengthtraining #health #motivation #patellartendinopathy #ftmfitness #bodybuilding https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb0JwZfLce6/?utm_medium=tumblr

Do You Have Jumper's Knee? What Is It?
Patellar tendinopathy (or as it is commonly known patellar tendonitis or tendinitis) is an overuse injury affecting your knee. It is the result of your patella tendon being overstressed. A common name for it is Jumper's Knee. Why is it Called Jumper’s Knee? The greatest level of stress through the patella tendon is during jumping and landing activities. During jumping, the quadriceps muscles provide an explosive contraction, which straightens the knee and pushes you into the air. When landing, the quadriceps muscle helps to absorb the landing forces by allowing a small amount of controlled knee bend. Excessive jumping or landing strains the patella tendon. At first the damage may only be minor and not cause any problem. However, if the tendon is repeatedly strained, the lesions occurring in the tendon can exceed the rate of repair. The damage will progressively become worse, causing pain and dysfunction. The result is a patellar tendinopathy (tendon injury).
