so… more Pat Loller art… I went way back in their Instagram bc I was bored and found this picture from years ago, so thought… imma draw it. I needed to practice lighting and colour blending anyways, and I think I did pretty well given that it’s my first attempt at it :D

the hogwarts legacy conversation really highlights something that i think usually stays hidden under the polite facade of liberalism. in the past days, weeks, months, it has become increasingly more apparent that there are SHOCKINGLY few trans allies in spaces which pride themselves on inclusivity and acceptance. as liberal people whose allyship so far has been limited to offering pronouns in their bio and maybe putting an infographic on their insta story once in a while are pressed to make choices to actively support trans people, it becomes increasingly clear that what they offered was never allyship at all. it becomes increasingly clear that their 'allyship' was contingent on all trans people being nice and unobtrusive and separate from other issues. people are dropping their illusions of supporting trans people shockingly quickly when confronted with the choice to actively harm people or not play a video game. as pat loller described it, they are presented with a trolley problem with trans people on one side and jk rowling/the (already paid) game devs on the other. one side will not be damaged. the train will take them on to their next destination, in fact, with very little fanfare. the train will crush the trans people. you have to actively pull the lever to crush the trans people. so-called allies are actively pulling the lever and then getting upset when trans people get upset about being DIRECTLY HARMED. how dare we speak up about the issues we face. how dare we be upset about the direct disregard and harm that people who claimed to support us are now foisting upon us. how dare we be messy about that. we are being actively legislated out of existence, and people who said they were our allies are abandoning us in droves for their much larger problem of... not being able to play a game. it's honestly fucking comedic. your allyship means nothing if it comes with conditions. your allyship means nothing if you are not willing to take action for the sake of your allies. your allyship means nothing if you are not willing to LITERALLY SIT STILL AND NOT DO A SINGLE ACTION for the sake of your allies. the trans community asks people NOT TO PLAY THE GAME. and people look us in the eyes and tell us that a few hours of antisemitic gameplay is worth more than our lives. fine. whatever. we see how it is. glad that they're finally being honest, at least. if you play hogwarts legacy or engage with harry potter i hope you die.

I feel like not only do people seem to be ignorant that the U.S. military preys on autistics, there are a lot of people that actively deny this. Having been in the military I can say that the recruiting tactics were laser focused at exploiting my (undiagnosed, even to this day) autism. They really played on the things about military life that were soothing to my autistic brain. Twisting service to seemingly align with the autistic sense of justice, emphasizing the routine, talking up cool technology that you could use, emphasizing the "fairness" in promotions. I was in nuclear power and the majority of my training class (including myself) was visibly autistic in some way, but even after a disciplinary action had me in a training program not selecting for high ASVAB scores, there were so many autistics around.
Are you aware of any writing about this, because as hinted at above the last time I looked into this, I could really only find posts from people asking about whether the military does this (it do) which then got tonnes of responses of "no, of course not they don't even let autistic people in" and articles advocating for letting diagnosed autistics in the military (fuck that). I'd probably try to write something if I were openly autistic or openly a veteran, but I'm only engaged with autistic advocacy and support offline for safety and I'm too ashamed of my military service to discuss it openly.
Anyway I got out after a failed suicide attempt after I was maltreated in therapy (a trend that continued until I swore off the institution of therapy in college,) which I was sent to because I was having frequent panic attacks because of my growing awareness of the evil I was participating in.
Pat Loller is working on a memoir about his military service that touches pretty strongly on this. I'd look into his comedy and TikTok videos for now. And James Finn has told me very similar things to what you are saying -- you've probably read his interview in my book, but he writes on Medium and you might find little details about his military service and how it relates to his Autism there from time to time, too. It's a sadly underexplored topic, still. We need more people telling these stories, but it's also profoundly triggering and draining to do.

Three AM thought here, but you know how in America as kids in school you used to write to soldiers at war? Does the UNSC have children write to their soldiers? And do specific classrooms get to write to Spartans? How unhinged does it get?
Like Emile opening his 80th 'tank you for killing the covenant'
John opening one that says "have a good war" and the letter spills glitter everywhere
Fred getting one that says "dear spartan, thank you for dying for humanity, but I really like humanity so I'm glad you're dead"
Carter getting one that says "I'm sad you died when your planet was glassed" and it's a drawing of a covenant ship glassing some planet.
Kelly opens one that says "I'm sorry your girlfriend left you, that's what my dad says what happens when you become a Spartan"
All of these were inspired by pat loller on tik tok, and I desperately need my moots to add their own experiences of writing these letters. I was going to make one that was all happy and have a pop up thing where you accordion the paper and stick it on each side of the card so a butterfly and flower pop up when you open it but my classmate stopped me because it would scare the soldiers because they have PTSD. If only child me understood the mash episodes my mom was watching I could've given them some mash quotes.

my proposal for why kakashi has ptsd in this au: this is pat loller, an american veteran who now is a paramedic
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR35Aw3H/
Veteran Kakashi is a strong head canon in a modern au and i support it.
He joined thinking he’d be able to do something good and make a difference, and all he got in return was nightmares and PTSD

Just heard a tiktoker (Pat Loller) say “I was born on the spectrum with ADHD, so my brain is a hodgepodge of genius and insanity duct taped to a rat.”

Pat Loller is a disabled vet on tiktok who’s got a knack for hitting the nail right on the head regarding how the right wing operates. (The video is from a reposter but I linked his actual tiktok.)
And I think a lot of his videos are very useful to you if you find yourself arguing and/or frustrated with right wingers constantly. One part because they are also just as irritated and also one part because it break it down into a concise and easily digestible manner.
And it when it comes down to the current state of affairs and what Republicans have been trying to do, this video is especially useful to remember.
