Instance drops into the first free chair she sees, legs still heavy under her and her eyes hurting from not blinking; the crown of eyes and thorns digging into her head hurts every time she so much as moves. "How was it?" asks Besk from her paperwork; that faintly glimmering shield that floating around her notices Instance's movement and slides between them as always, an ever-present barrier desperate to keep Besk safe in a world where no one ever is.
Instance only grunts in response; when Besk laughs, through the barrier separating them Instance can see only the faintest glimpses of her smile.
