You know too many people romanticize Hades and Persephone without any thought on what The Hymn to Demeter was actually about.

While I actually do think about Dionysus and Ariadne a fair bit as a rather romantic story for the Greeks. Of course, many versions of the orders of events, as is natural for such a long spanning mythic story.

But the idea that after Ariadne throws her whole life as a Princess away to guide Theseus through the labyrinth, saving all future sacrifices and allowing the death of her monster half brother, he abandons her on an island to die and Dionysus stumbles on her.

They fall in love, enough so that she ascends to Godhood with him. Enough so that in stories where she dies a mortal death he goes into the afterlife and pulls her back to him. Enough so there are versions where they raise their children on their vineyards. Enough so that every archaeological finding of them, from vases to funeral beds- when they aren’t in their separate stories- is them dining and drinking together and partying happily. Ariadne lost everything and then gained reverly and a full life afterwards.

I think about how much more remarkably unsure Gale is of himself outside the context of magic. He says such concerning things sometimes, undersells himself, and, at times, sounds just this way of thoroughly convinced that he's entirely undeserving. He thinks it's better if he dies. He thinks he's wronged quite enough. But when you get him to cast spells, to pull the Weave, to dance it both with sure hands and a confident tongue... and wow. He just changes. He suddenly becomes this unflagging spirit, a man so bright and so bold and so blindingly devastating. He can call fury from the skies, will sow death onto fields, and can orchestrate a ruin of either ice or fire, earth or thunder, or something else entirely. His eyes light up, and a smile — disarming, alarming, handsome, certain — finds him almost wickedly. He smells like ozone. He tastes like reckoning. He has lightning up his veins and gales swept gentle in his hair, and everything about his insecurities gives way to a nigh on soul shuddering display of force.

Then after that, he's cooking dinner and talking about the Thesis on Conditonal Ruptures that absolutely no one asked about.

i think johnny goes all out for his bfs birthdays...

like decorates the whole house, does surprise parties for lao (who likes it) and does smaller more intimate get togethers for raiden and kenshi-

gets the local bakery to make smth good or bakes the cake himself, will invite anyone they want and gets them such sweet gifts, big and small-

but his own birthday is so lowkey- prefers it just be him and his bfs and maybe for a more "important" birthday like 50 (or 60 if we're going by canon age-) then he invites the rest of the champions and does a small party

but he just likes having his bfs around and doing like, an ice cream cake and calling it a night

you'd think he'd throw big parties and the like, and he does, but never on his actual birthday.

"johnny cage" was "born" (the paperwork went through) sometime in august-

but johnathan carlton was born in april.

so he throws big parties and has tons of fun and all of that publicity nonsense in august, but he has his actual birthday celebration in april, and it's a small thing because that was how it always was.

johnny thinks it's a gift to even have his bfs there with him, since some years his family forgot and he celebrated alone-

johnny's just happy to have the people he has in his life... and of course, he loves partying come august :)

So the nerds/popular kids of my grade ever so obviously watched Mean Girls 2024 and are singing World Burn and one of the ABM kids just said that she has a crush on Reneé Rapp which is so real of her. It's hilarious since I'm sitting behind them and am overhearing everything they're saying and my theatre kid ass who's been a Reneé stan since Broadway could not be more entertained, but I mastered the art of "blank expression™" so they have nooooo fucking clue I'm listening and that I'm amused.

carth watching in increasing despair as this random soldier he escaped the endar spire with and who agreed to keeping a "low profile" makes an enemy of tarisian nobility and the local crime lord, loses all their credits in pazaak games, enters a dueling ring with the excuse of regaining the credits but really just wants to blow off some steam, goes to a sith party with the excuse of searching for leads on bastila's whereabouts but really just wants to see how fun the sith are to party with,

I had a dream that I was trapped with a group of people in this vault like building. We didn’t know how we got there but pretty quickly we realized what we had to do. Inside each vault was a new creature who was out to kill us and our job was to avoid the creature and find the exit of terminate it. So very quickly we got ourselves organized into a team and I was actually left with just roaming around trying to track it.

In one of the vaults we were in a store. I was going through the smaller toy aisle when I spotted a pretty pink heart necklace and beads that I told myself I’d take right before we escape. I turn the corner and I feel like I’m being watched. I walk down towards the longer aisles made of large industrial shelves and I’m between the items the creature stares at me. He snarls and starts coming around to attack me.

Naturally I scream and ran off towards the team. They quickly sprung into action and dealt with the creature.

To celebrate we decided to take something from the store. I headed straight towards the toy aisle to find the necklace but it wasn’t there anymore. Instead I I noticed a box of Pokémon figurines and picked up what looked like charzard. I took that with me and showed my teammates. We opened the box to see how cool it was and it was a little more realistic than we thought?? It pieces were divided into both bones and flesh.

I wasn’t quite sure how to put that together but a friend said he could do it for me. So in the next vault, which seemed to be a street corner of a hotel, he sat piecing it together in the lobby while the rest of us dealt with the new threat. He only finished right before we were to leave for the next vault and presented me with the finished box. When I opened it up I noticed that not only was the figure done, but had left me a the heart necklace as a gift 🥺
