Like I've said before. General Trans Scott enthusiast here- I love the idea of their little support network *violent coughing* I (we?) mean polycule *violent coughing* so fucking much.

Ramona I think has a bit of a more gentle hand with reassuring Scott with gender issues, but sometimes she just can't help herself from some pointed banter or teasing- how could you with someone so dense? (Said w affection)

And then Kim I think is more blunt. But like, in a good way mostly, you know? The kinda blunt that makes you snap to attention and go "Oh. Yeah that was silly of me." And if Ramona's started some sort of banter? Kim is SO piling on. Maybe sometimes she's a bit TOO blunt with it- but it's only because she's so firm in her support. She wants Scott to Get It Together- and be happier for it. So if some ribbing now and again is in order, then goddamnit she will do so! Anything to crack that shell.

And ohhh can you imagine how they would react to some transphobic bullshit?? Unholy terror would be driven into the offender before they walk off with an absurd amount of coins between them. I can feel it in my bones. Scott doesn't even have to lift a finger (if the transphobe is even noticed/processed at all, bc I honestly can see Scott just. Not realizing someone's being transphobic.) Kim giving someone a lashing with her tongue as distraction and then Ramona coming in with the hammer- BAM! Free Money! Paying literally with your life for your transphobia. A Better And Just World.

And of course (transfem Scott more specifically, here,) the way Scott would start to flourish under their support... cagey and maybe a little (perhaps a lot-) resistant to start- but Kim's blunt affirmations and no nonsense attitude for bullshit (which is what Scott insisting on "being cis" would be, c'mon now,) and Ramona's also low bullshit tolerance but less Stabby (bc I won't lie, that's probably how Kim's comments would feel,) assurances? Ough... My Heart... Be Still-

WE OPEN in a peculiarly decorated room. The room is well lit with minimal windows, a pool table in the middle of the room. Seated around the pool table are 24 children and teenagers of varying ages, as well as a man seated in a wheelchair and a man whose appearance the camera can't quite capture. From the angle, it is clear someone has set up the camera to secretly record the meeting.

 

CHIARA

CHIRON, why did you call a meeting at eight on a Thursday.

 

HOLLY

Yeah, the Eagles are playing the Commanders and I have, like, $50 riding on this!

 

CHIRON sighs, deeply troubled and exhausted, and DIONYSUS rolls his eyes.

Chapter 5: Cast into Darkness, The Light We Had Won

Gradually, the boat turned around once more and trudged—if a boat could trudge—into Kinloch Hold's dock cavern. The landing was covered in templars. Dorian and Lanil straightened, fear flicking them like whips, until they saw the lack of red lyrium. One of the templars, in the midst of the others, took off his helmet as the boat docked. His hair, which had already been grey, had gone all over silvery-white and had receded far back from his forehead. His beard was thicker and longer than ever and as grey as his hair. Lanil came down the gangplank, wariness warring with the nostalgia.

Greagoir had been the one to bring her from Denerim when she was a little girl. It had been his hand holding hers while they travelled the long King’s Road, when they overlooked Lake Calenhad and she’d seen Kinloch for the very first time. He had been stern and reticent, but he’d been kind in his gruff way. Her relationship with him had been nothing like her relationship with Irving, but the two of them were intertwined in her mind with Kinloch itself.

“So you’ve come home, Surana. That would explain Amell dropping the shield,” Greagoir said, his helmet tucked under his arm. There was almost a smile on his face. Until he caught sight of Dorian right behind her in all his flamboyantly, unrepentantly Tevinter glory. “You’re not welcome here.”

“That’s charming,” Dorian said dryly. Lanil put her hand on his arm and glared at Greagoir.

“He’s welcome wherever I am, Greagoir.”

The templar-commander’s eyes widened before he scowled. Lanil frowned at him even harder. Greagoir glowered. Lanil’s mouth twisted fiercely, jaw clenched and eyes narrowed. Greagoir scoffed and his bushy silver brows drew tautly together. Dorian barely managed to conceal a laugh with a polite cough behind his fist. His eyebrow tilted upwards, and Lanil snorted.

“Surely you can’t blame me for thinking it’s blood magic at work, Surana, and it’s been a long time. I can’t take your word as is," Knight-Commander Greagoir said at last, their wordless argument finished.

“Does my word have any weight here, Greagoir?” Kimg Alistair asked as he came down the plank to Dorian's side.

Greagoir stared, his gaze jumping from Lanil to Dorian to King Alistair to Sister Leliana, recognition and clear confusion in his expression.

Lanil finally groaned, rolled her eyes, and chanted the Litany. It rolled from her lips easily, her body glowing brighter and brighter, until a burst of white light washed over them. Although not every member of Kinloch had it memorized, any one of them could recognize it and its effects. It had been added to the curriculum, according to one of Stef’s old letters. There had been efforts to duplicate it, and simplify it, too. Greagoir nodded and every templar behind him stood down.

“Irving will be happy to see you again, Surana. You both will always be friends here,” he added with a nod towards King Alistair and Sister Leliana. “I hope you excuse my precautions, your Majesty.”

“Not a problem.”

“LANIL!”

Lanil immediately sprung forward. The doors into the Hold threw themselves open and Stef ran through. She’d hitched her robes up above her knees in one hand, the other outstretched where she’d obviously cast a spell. She didn’t so much as stumble. For a moment, Lanil saw her own lyrium-clawed hand piercing through Stef's throat. Saw the gaping, ragged wound as she fell. Then, it was only Stef again. The chubby, blonde, cheerfully bright-eyed mage of this time, of the real time. Though her hair was pulled back into a no-nonsense bun and her make up gone, and there were the deep purple shadows under her eyes, she was flushed red from running and looked fine. Healthy. Completely and wholly herself. And, most importantly, alive.

They collided amid the templars, uncaring of the audience and utterly relieved, clutching tight with clawed and desperate fingers.

“What happened? Is Fiona—” They both said and cut off at the same time with matching expressions of dismay.

“That’s something we would all like answered,” Sister Leliana said. “We have a lot of missing information.”

“Maybe we can do this over some food? I’m starving,” King Alistair suggested hopefully.

“That can be arranged, your Majesty,” Greagoir said. He gestured at the templars. More than half of them returned to position, overlooking the docks that were now barrier-free. The rest followed them into the Hold.

What’s the Difference Between a Chapter and a Scene?

Introducing Scenes! Previously, stories and legacies were strictly chapter-based, meaning you could only release a full chapter at a time. Now, with scenes, you have more flexibility!

A scene works like a storyteller’s post on Tumblr—it appears on your feed. This means your scenes can be shared on Simblr.cc’s Feed (but not the Stories browse page) even before the full chapter is published, making it easier for readers to discover your story.

Note: A "Scenes-Only" story works just like a "Chapters & Scenes" story—just without the chapters! 😉

Can I Change My Story Type?

You can change a Chapters-Only Story to a Chapters & Scenes Story. However, you cannot switch from Chapters-Only to Scenes-Only or any other combination.

Though, you will have to ask me to do this for you, due to the way it's currently set up.

Fics I Enjoyed in December - DC Comics Fic Rec List

Fell headfirst back into DC Comics for the first time in years this month. Reread some old favorites and discovered some new gems!

My January DC Comics fic rec list is here!

Heart, Humble by Betty (Mature, 8k, 2005) Jack Drake deals with finding out that Tim is Robin (poorly, and then not so poorly). THEE canon-accurate Jack Drake-focused fic of all time, this is canon in my heart.

Back then, all the boys his age had hero-worshipped costumed vigilantes. Jack supposes they still do.

Exit Strategy by smilebackwards/@smilebackwards (Teen & Up, 13k, 2021) Tim plans to leave a family he thinks he was never really a part of and decides to train Damian on how to run Wayne Enterprises before he goes. Delicious angst, excellent character work, and fun Wayne Enterprises worldbuilding.

Batman needs a Robin and Batman has a Robin. Tim is just extraneous now, vestigial. He’s a bandage over a healed wound. He doesn’t know what he’s hanging on to. Or: Tim didn’t expect his exit strategy from the Batfamily to involve quite so much bonding time with Damian over Wayne Enterprises bureaucracy.

On the Downbeat by medusaceratops (Teen & Up, 2k, 2019) Bruce and Jason talk while waiting in line at a drive-thru (featuring Gotham-typical violence and husborth-typical gorgeous prose). I've always adored husborth's Star Wars fics and I'm so glad I dipped my toe into their DC works, no one's writing hits quite like husborth.

Jason has recovered his sanity, and Bruce and Jason have recovered their relationship; but there are some things that are hard to forget.

A Zoo for Canines by medusaceratops (Mature, 45k, 2019) Part 2 of Zoology; Dick and Jason try to help Bruce recover from addiction. If you're used to fanon Dick Grayson (cheery, friendly, forgiving) you will not find him here - his anger and pain is ugly, raw, and so fucking captivating.

Edit: This fic and the series has since been deleted off ao3, though Part 1 (An Aquarium of Nameless Things) is still up; DM me if you'd like to read it.

Dick, Bruce, and Jason head out to a cabin in the mountains, and they handle things about as well as they handle anything.

All the Roofs of Uncertainty by Kieron_ODuibhir/@kieron-oduibhir (General Audiences, 70k, 2015) Dick almost dies and makes Jason promise to take care of the family for him. A masterclass demonstration on how DC fic can square all the wildly divergent canon versions of Jason Todd into a single compelling character.

For all the blood on his hands, Red Hood was never just a villain. And Nightwing never gives up on family, not for good. (Or: The one where Dick bleeds a lot and Jason argues with everybody.)

The Till-Then From the Ever-Since by Kieron_ODuibhir/@kieron-oduibhir (General Audiences, 85k (WIP), 2020) Kid versions of the whole Batfamily mysteriously time travel to the future! I livetexted a friend the whole time I read this so I could yell about how amazing the character writing is; also I'm wildly impressed with how the author deftly handles tons of dialogue-heavy scenes with like 12+ guys in it without anyone going unmentioned.

It began, or seemed to begin, with Jason. Usually that would have meant something in the order of fire and explosion and probably at least one gunshot wound, but for once (as Tim said, sourly), it wasn't actually Jason's fault.

only you will have stars that can laugh by silverwhittlingknife/@silverwhittlingknife (Teen & Up, 9k, 2022) Dick finds out Tim is alone on Christmas and invites him to Babs' Christmas party. Discovered silverwhittlingknife through their galaxy brained Dick & Tim meta essays, stayed for every single line of Chapter 2 ripping out my heart and roasting it over an open flame.

You coming over is possibly the only thing that’s gonna stop me from wanting to punch your dad in the face, Dick doesn’t say. My current Christmas Day plans are 1) pace around at home, and 2) try not to obsess about what Bruce is up to, so trust me, you’ll be an improvement, Dick doesn’t say. Tim's alone on Christmas Eve. Dick finds out, and fixes it.

nerve endings by silverwhittlingknife/@silverwhittlingknife (Teen & Up, 5k (WIP), 2024) Post-Catalina Flores, Dick, Tim, and Bruce go on a (canon-accurate) cruise and dance around their open wounds. This is a glorious example of "he WOULD fucking say that", Dick's voice is so canon-accurate that the angst is even more painful i cri

It's all right, even, to have a foreign hand pressing against his skin, testing him, testing his reactions. He keeps his breathing controlled. Just Tim, damn you, it’s just Tim, don’t fuck it up. Dick's on a cruise with Bruce and Tim. And he's fine. Mostly.

Red Letter Day by silverwhittlingknife/@silverwhittlingknife (Teen & Up, 42k (WIP), 2022) Dick is sure the cryptic scribble in his agenda refers to something he's supposed to do for Damian, but he can't remember what. Mostly about Tim and Dick s l o w l y mending the post-Damian rupture in their relationship, but the whole family is here and Jason, especially, is fucking hilarious.

Dick Grayson, stressed pseudo-parent to a preteen assassin, tries to solve the case of Damian’s Mysterious Wednesday. He never expected it to help him fix his relationship with Tim, too. (… Though only after everything fell apart first.)

Gonna Be A Better One (A Thousand Miles To Your Door) by Traincat/@traincat (Teen & Up, 18k, 2011) Tim and Kon keep dating even after Jack forces Tim to retire as Robin. I reread this fic annually and every time am delighted to rediscover how funny and heartwarming and squee-inducingly kind it is, pure Timkon perfection.

In which Tim quits being Robin, Kon refuses to quit Tim and Ma Kent is full of relationship advice.

last light in a darkened room by bigdamnher0/@bigdvmnhero (Not Rated, 6k, 2024) Tim finds a distressing video of Robin!Dick and wishes that things were different. The whole fic, particularly Tim manifesting a happy ending in the bathroom, is a gorgeously crafted tragedy such that you're left kind of awed at how thoroughly massacred your heart and soul are post-read.

Tuesday morning: a video was uploaded to one of the deep web black markets. The footage, shot on those grainy vintage camcorders. But Tim knew that boy in the thumbnail; his eyes had memorized him, the heft and shape and dazzle of him, imprinting like an afterimage. Or: a brother is a witness; there's your tragedy.

buy back the secrets by sundiscus/@vinelark (Teen & Up, 91k (WIP), 2024) Superboy rescues civilian Tim Drake before learning that Tim is Robin and shenanigans ensue. I spent my whole holiday vacation intermittently screaming at this fic while my family members looked on with vague concern this fic is ADORABLE and AGONIZING and PERFECT please and THANK YOU.

He takes a long, slow breath. Ignores the glares from the other students. “Superboy,” he murmurs. “It’s me. If you’re listening, I could use some help.” Or: 5 times Superboy saves Tim Drake, and one time Tim Drake saves Superboy.

SMG34: LIPBITE COMIC WIP UPDATE

oh boy... i know a bunch of folks are hyped for this comic... and boy oh boy are ya'll's prayers going to be heard... kind of... butt for the celebration milestone, and granted majority are from this comic, i thought it was best to give EVERYTHING that i have currently.

starting off STRONG with what you freaks most want: the completed pages. andddd yep that's it that all that i have done LMAO. i've been fixated on my own smg4 oc: tsb, and during the end of my summer was unfortunately fucked over by some personal issues that fortunately got resolved last minute good grief the anxiety prevented me from drawing the gays sigh... aNYWAYS LINEART WIPS!!!!

here are linearts i have completed / in the progress of!! want to aim like i did in the past by finishing up lineart first, and then speed through with color + minor rendering. the reason i have a few colored is to test out what it would look polished and my god... i have improved A LOT. THESE GAY PEOPLE GIVE POWER I AM NOT KIDDING BELIEVE ME IM NOT CRAY- anyways onto wip pages!

jumpscare: tsb stickman sketches. oh yeah. this is how i sketch and i blame sensei eiichiro oda /j. and in case anyone is unable to understand it {i don't blame u LMAO}, smg4 wakes up from the dream and is startled to see mario by his bed. they have a short convo before mario leaves, and we get a job to smg4 in the bathroom trying to put up a brave face. until the moment he leaves he's stunned due to seeing smg3 at his front door. will i elaborate more on specifics or unwritten dialogue? NOPE! gotta keep secrets to make it even more enjoyable at the end!!

currently at 13 sketched pages total, but this is probably gonna be reaching towards 20-ish pages, surpassing part two, but it will depend on how i come up with how to end it. additionally to confirm there will be a PART FOUR / chapter 3, to end this story. my goal is to have it done before i finish my senior year, or at least during the summer after i graduate bc good lord who knows whats gonna happen.

Thanks to everyone who jumped in my asks with the news about dashingdon coming to an end. I was already on it but I appreciate your thoughtfulness! The news made quite the stir in the IF world. Shout out to DashingDon for hosting so many fabulous works over the years.

I was planning on doing a public update at the end of the month, but since I had to port the files anyway I figured I’d include the improvements I've made to the early chapters. The end point for the public demo is the same as before, a third of the way through chapter three, but I’ve added POV scenes and polished it up a bit. 💫

If you catch any errors, please let me know!

I'm hoping to get back to writing chapter four next week. Life has required my focus elsewhere the last couple of days and this weekend is a busy one. I keep thinking about the story even when I'm not able to work on it, which counts as writing despite not adding to the wordcount.

The story is about to dive into a branching section that takes the MC to different parts of the castle for different purposes. One branch is dark and heart wrenching, one is rooted in kindness and kinship, and one is breathtaking, inviting your imagination to soar. 🔥⚔️🔥

A/N: EEEEK for some reason I’m beyond nervous to post this. I know I did NOT need another wip but I had such a huge itch to finally get started on this idk what possessed me! First things first I DO want to say that I know the trope of hockey player vi and college aus are popular within the vi fanfic community and just want to make it so abundantly clear that I’m not trying to copy anybody and am going to aim to make this as different as possible.

Secondly, the idea of a tag list seems very overwhelming for me so the best way to keep up with parts will probably be to follow me! Also not giving myself a specific updating schedule since I AM working on so much right now and I want my long form stories on wattpad I currently have to take first priority so- it might take a while for me to post! Just bare with me!

Thirdly, I have never been to Oxford and probably will never go to Oxford (in fact I’m not even from the UK so whoops) so all of what is portrayed on here will be from what I’ve read from other english university media and research. So if there are errors I apologize! 🖤

Hey guys! Long time no see! I get questions regularly about whether or not Raindrops is going to continue, and the answer is of course! As long as I'm still functioning this comic will go on, even if it takes a while.

My usual workflow is that I write a script, then draw all the thumbnails of the chapter, and then start doing page sketches. (I am currently in this stage) I tend to want to draw all of the pages before I ever start inking/toning and then post. And because I also work and get distracted by life it takes a while so I'm very grateful for those who stick around.

Currently, for those who are interested, all WIP updates for Raindrops is being posted on my Patreon. Here is an example of a WIP sketch that I have posted of the current cover! Patrons got to vote on various concepts I had in mind.

I try to post page sketches at least once a month, though no dialogue has been revealed as to not spoil it for everyone yet. But it's fun to see the patrons guess what is happening. That is all to say, yes, Raindrops is still happening. I haven't forgotten about it, and thumbnail count currently sits at about 56 pages for this first part of Chapter 9.
