Hi guys,
Recently I’ve been loving a good drugstore shop! I think sometimes when you get so used to your makeup routine, you don’t try other products or in my case pay attention to drugstore trends! So while I was shopping in Superdrug recently they had a 3 for 2 on LOREAL Paris products and I decided to go for it!
So we’re gonna start off with the product that annoyingly I was the most excited about and yet I can’t use it because the lightest shade is too dark for me! Let’s talk about L'Oreal Paris Magic BB Cream .£10.99 in shade Very Light (this is the product im labelling free so I don’t feel like I’ve wasted money). This product seemed so fun because it started off as a white cream texture and then when you rub it in, it’s meant to match the colour of your face! The formula felt lovely and gave a gorgeous natural finish, the problem however was it looked orange on me! I was so sad about this but luckily it didn’t go to waste because it matches my mum really well. So not a total waste there but annoying the very fair shade was too dark for me!
Now let’s chat about the winners in this 3 for 2 shop. Moving on to the L'Oréal Paris Prime Lab 24 HR Matte Setter Primer, £11.99. Since I have oily combo skin. a matte primer is a summer essential for my everyday makeup lasting on my face. This primer is so lovely to wear because it isn't thick in formula and blends into my foundations or skin tints effortlessly. Honestly even if you don't have oily skin, but want your makeup to last try using matte primer because they reduce shine which helps keep your face oils under control. Like I said, been using matte primers for years and they haven't let me down.
And lastly, we have one of my favourite drugstore foundations, the L'Oréal Paris True Match Liquid Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid 30ml and SPF, £10.99. I have used and loved the True Match foundations from LO'real for years now and recently I have been loving their tinted serum foundation and it made me want to do this haul in the first place. So I decided while I was shopping to revisit a old favourite, this foundation has always been my favourite drugstore formula. Not only it is my perfect colour match, it feels so light on the skin and has skincare ingredients in the formula. By now we're used to this but when this foundation first came out it was a game changer. This foundation is perfect if you want a medium, smoothing formula that helps treat your skin while you wear it. Though I own a lot of foundations, I get the most compliments when I wear this foundation every time!
So if you're looking to add some products to your makeup collection, why not stop by Loreal! And if you have any affordable makeup suggestions you think I should try let me know! As always all products mentioned are linked above.
Lot's of love,
Bella x x

Activists went to dance the dabke, a traditional Palestinian dance, on Tuesday evening in front of the Trocadéro, to show their support for Palestine and its culture. The police arrived shortly after to stop this perfectly peaceful action which bothered no one. The government, which in October lit the Eiffel Tower in Israeli colors, is trying to present a more neutral position in recent days. But what is this “neutrality” worth when it reserves the Trocadero and the “beautiful neighborhoods” for supporters of the continuation of the genocide, and confines supporters of a ceasefire to the east of Paris?

Has Celebrity Influence on Pop Culture Taken a Hit?
I guess that might depend on what you would consider a celebrity.
Tumblr media
I’ve been seeing people say “pop culture is dead”. I don’t think pop culture is dead; it may have died as we’ve known it, but I think it has just taken on a different form.
Popculture can be defined as people’s “culture” that is prevalent or dominant in a society at a point in time, usually pertaining to the aspects of social life most actively involved by the public. Trends (fashion, music, art, photography, etc.), slang people use, food that people eat, and lifestyles that people lead are all things that make up pop culture. Not only is pop culture determined by interactions between people in their everyday activities, but by mass media as well.
Throughout the past few centuries, pop culture has been heavily shaped by the celebrities of their time. While celebrities’ massive impact on pop culture has always been prevalent, I feel it especially peaked during the 2000’s and has recently begun to plummet change. Not to show my age, but hear me out. Being a celebrity used to be this elusive and exclusive thing. It was not only very hard to penetrate and break into their social circle, but it was also hard to see them outside of their “mysterious” celebrity character. We would only see celebrities through major (press) events (award shows, charities, galas, etc.) or professional media (music videos, television interviews, editorial shoots). Rarely did we see celebrities outside of their celebrity façade, and when we did, it was through photographs that the paparazzi managed to capture. Celebrities used to have us on the edge of our seats, anticipating their next move. We were dying to know what they were up to and get a glimpse of our favorite (or least liked) with the desire to keep up with the latest trends and gossip (although not much of this has changed, the reasoning for the ogling has shifted). For social media (as we now know it to be) to not have been such a big thing during that period, celebrity influence on pop culture still managed to be very prevalent and spread like wildfire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today the question to be posed is “What makes someone a celebrity?”. A largely well-known person (talent not required)? A household name? We have always seen people who are nationally known and recognized for a talent, like musicians, actors, artists, and even journalists, as celebrities. Would you consider politicians to be celebrities? What about "influencers," and better yet, when did influencing become a title? Depending on who you ask, an influencer may be a celebrity or just a pseudo-celebrity, but one truth that cannot be disputed is that social media has given everyone a voice. Social media makes everyone not only a critic but also the paparazzi of today. Today, being a celebrity is not as elusive as it once was. Anyone can become a sensation overnight and, by the end of next month, have a spread in Dazed Magazine. Social media (amongst some other things) was the thing to chip away at and break that barrier of exclusivity. Everybody wants to be a celebrity, and with social media making that realm easier to infiltrate, that’s exactly what everyone is doing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, has the impact of celebrities decreased? If you ask me, I don’t think celebrity impact has changed at all. I just think celebrities are no longer the only ones who are largely recognized and have the power to set or start trends. You now have people who can cultivate a platform on their own. You now have people who are not scared to be different in their attempts to stand out. You now have people who can showcase their talents without the use of a label or agency and find success via a social media cellphone app. Although influencers aren’t a new concept (ie. video vixens), it’s now been made mainstream in my opinion. Times are definitely changing, and influencers are definitely making a splash. One can only hope this is the beginning of the death of celebrity. What do you all think?
