Yesterday I went to facilitate a program in school. Not one of my own but another that I feel passionate about. No one turned up. I think sometime people underestimate what you can get from showing up to things. As a new parent Of twins the first time. I would head to my local children’s centre every blooming session they had. I’d do all the courses (mainly because there was a crèche and I felt a sigh of relief knowing my babies were safe in the hands of the team there) But one particular course, seeing (I had no interest in it really but ya know crèche) I showed up even though my mood was quite low at that point. I showed up and the session turned into a therapy session, there were tears, snot bubbles, sobs, laughter, hugs, tea and cake and do you know that day I formed a friendship with two of those mums and I’ve never looked back. Not only that our husbands did similar jobs and they are best friends too. In fact most of the time we feel like family. Never underestimate what you will get out of showing up to things. It may be hard at first, it may be a struggle to get everyone out the door. Belonging.....

I believe the best thing about social media like facebook is the fact you can find groups of your professional and personal interest. Like a favorite tv show or a business you maybe interested in. I recently join a group about the county I live in and have meant some moms with kids my age so we plan to link up. They post all the local events, restaurants and updates on the coming school year I love it. Most of my friends do not have young kids so it is great to be able to connect with others without having to go out a try to start a conversation with strangers at a park.lol

Being a parent is hard. Being an early-childhood educator, daycare owner or preschool/kindergarten teacher is also hard. There are many days when we need to repeat ourselves so many times and yet children seem to not want to listen. Let's combine this with the high probability that our own children typically misbehaves more with us than with their caregivers. At the end of the day, we parents are just... TIRED. Tired to keep it all together. Tired to always be on the watch - with our actions, with our words. HOWEVER, this diagram is a great reminder for me to continue working on my parenting, one word at a time.
