Yesterday I went to facilitate a program in school. Not one of my own but another that I feel passionate about. No one turned up. I think sometime people underestimate what you can get from showing up to things. As a new parent Of twins the first time. I would head to my local children’s centre every blooming session they had. I’d do all the courses (mainly because there was a crèche and I felt a sigh of relief knowing my babies were safe in the hands of the team there) But one particular course, seeing (I had no interest in it really but ya know crèche) I showed up even though my mood was quite low at that point. I showed up and the session turned into a therapy session, there were tears, snot bubbles, sobs, laughter, hugs, tea and cake and do you know that day I formed a friendship with two of those mums and I’ve never looked back. Not only that our husbands did similar jobs and they are best friends too. In fact most of the time we feel like family. Never underestimate what you will get out of showing up to things. It may be hard at first, it may be a struggle to get everyone out the door.
