You’d been adopted by the Potters a while back: Lily and James, and while you loved that they’d took you in, you always worried they’d abandon you or hurt you, just as your biological parents did.

They were kind and loving which you were getting used to and they knew this.

Tonight, however was one of the bad nights. It was a dark and stormy night with thunder and lightning. It was terrifying to you, so many loud noises.

BANG!

You covered your ears as you started crying, it reminded you of when your father would come home drunk and slam the doors. In fact, that’s where your mind went, it took you back to then and with each crash of thunder it just got worse.

You don’t know when it happened, but you heard someone nearby calling out. It didn’t sound like your father or your mother. No, this voice sounded kind, and calm, and gentle. So you moved your hands from your ears and looked up. It was James and Lily.

“It’s alright,” James said as he got closer. “You’re safe now. I won’t let anything hurt you.” He crouched down beside you lifting his hand up to wipe your eyes. “Would it be ok if I hugged you?”

You burst into tears and nodded. They both sat with you and hugged you as the storm carried on, but now you felt safe and protected.

“It’s alright, love,” Lily whispered before kissing the side of your head. “We’ve got you.”

You smiled as you leaned against them. As you yawned, you said without thinking about it, “thanks mum! Thanks dad!”

James: it’s okay, we can sort it out. Just take some of your make up off.

Sirius: I’m not wearing any make up!

James: WHAT?!

Sirius always thinks there's something familiar about it and Narcissa gets a really odd feeling when she sees him but nobody ever pieces it together

Ofc dumbledore knows, he just strategically avoids pointing it out so nobody gets suspicious (including Harry himself)

Lesbian Lily who forced herself into a relationship with the only boy she knew who was not only interested but kind in a panic because she was scared and thought she would die lonely otherwise.

Bisexual James who grew up in an accepting and loving home, who loves her and is heartbroken when he finds out but helps her sort her shit out anyway and is one of the major reasons Lily finds it in herself to love that part of herself

Baby Harry who despite being raised in a co-parenting situation is extremely loved and loves both his parents and stepparents so so much.

Or when Sirius just offhandedly mentioned he was bored and James was like "oh no, padfoot is bored, I must entertain him! Oh look, Snape!" and then they bully the poor kid together

Or when Sirius ran away to James's family

Or when James names Sirius the godfather to his kid (after convincing Lily, somehow)

Or when during wartime where Voldemort is a powerful, threatening figure, James rejects Dumbledore's offer to be the secret keeper, the only wizard capable of rivaling Voldemort's magical ability, because he wanted it to be Sirius. Then Sirius rejected the offer, offered Peter instead and James complies easily (again, after convincing Lily, somehow)

Or when Sirius straight up loses his shit, breaking down when he finds James (and Lily) dead. And then instead of taking care of the orphaned kid, he immediately goes after Peter to kill him

Or when, despite having the ability to break out of Azkaban, Sirius stayed there because he lost James, his will to live in other words

Or when Sirius only decides to escape when he finds out Peter, the (other) man responsible for James's (and Lily's) death was still alive and well, which he did not like. Literally got revived to avenge James

Or when Sirius offered Harry to live with him, immediately attached to Harry and trying to form a bond with James's remaining tie

Or when Sirius acknowledges Harry's needs, cautions him with his safety, lashes out at Harry when they can't meet even if it puts himself in danger, 'continuously risking everything' for Harry, runs to the department of magic because Harry was in danger and ultimately dies there

Or when Harry thinks of Sirius only during the 'parents shouldn't abandon their kids' conversation with R*m*s. And Voldemort not being able to possess him because of 'his love for Sirius'

They make me so sick. I have to throw up.

“Dad!” Harry launched himself into James’ arms the moment the door opened, nearly knocking him off balance. James barely managed to drop the overstuffed bags of brightly wrapped gifts before their seven-year-old son clung to him like a monkey, arms and legs wrapping tightly around his father. “Hello mate,” James’ entire face softened as he spoke, his previous smugness – upon her having opened the door, the “All right, Evans?” and the hand that had gone to his curls irritating her to no end – dissolving in an instant. The look in his eyes — warm, tender, full of love — made it impossible for her to look away, even though she wanted to. She hated how easily he could still do this: make her heart melt when she wanted nothing more than to be angry with him. “Jeez, Harry,” James said with a playful groa n, hoisting the boy higher. “When do you stop growing, huh?” “Not for another eleven years at least,” she interjected dryly, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed tightly over her chest. James’ gaze shifted to her, his eyebrows quirking up in that maddeningly familiar way. The sharp lines of his uniform did him every favour, accentuating how fit he still looked, and he knew it. She clenched her jaw, determined not to let her gaze linger—he didn’t deserve the satisfaction of knowing exactly how good he looked.

Okay, I'm gonna say it. I hate the Jegulus raising harry trope. Wym James gets to raise him but Lily doesn't? Wym she's left out? Wym your ship is more important than her motherhood?

Fic idea: A lengthy Marauders movie series or show is being filmed and Sirius, Remus, James, Lily, etc are all cast as child actors.

The storyline could include: the drama/fun of filming over the years, learning how to deal with fame and partying as they get older, Remus struggling to hide his worsening health, Sirius trying to hide his ruthless stage mom’s abuse, Lily dealing with her sister’s jealousy/her family using her as a cash cow, James being sensitive to public opinion/ridicule, and of course— all of them slowly growing up and falling in loveee!
