I wish we, at the very least, were asymptotes,

We could go close, tho never meet...

We may go side by side,

But still can't intersect,

We may travel on the same x-axis,

But never on the y,

But on different heights.

Once, a transverse line passed through us,

But then and again, that further made us not equal...

Merely not meant-to-be,

In primary, 8 - 9, cannot be.

Without me, and at one point,

You and that transverse conjoined...

You meet, you make a perpendicular...

Amongst the crowd, you shine, you are gem in particular,

As for me, you are more like a star...

Because unlike them who can hold you,
