Pontalo Continent AU Masterlist
Queen Dolphin of the HydroWings, daughter of Queen Paradox of the ShapeWings, and mate of King Tiger Shark!
Tumblr media
She has spots and a nose horn from being half ShapeWing.
Dolphin discovered she was a HydroWing when she was a dragonet, at 5 (Torrent and Paradox never told her she was one), whom the Pyrrhian tribes thought were long extinct, when she flew off, leaving school after getting uhh… bullied… for looking like a weird SeaWing. She found the hidden HydroWing palace Atlantis in the ocean near the continent Paradox fled to and where all the elemental tribes are that were mentioned in the AU masterlist, and met the newly King Tiger Shark, who was also around the same age. She frequently visited the palace as she grew more distant from her family, friends, and school, until finally her sister, Seashell, follows her, and tells their parents about it. The existence of the HydroWings get revealed, but not the location of the palace, which is a closely guarded secret between Paradox’s family.
Dolphin and Tiger Shark fall in love, and when they reach maturity at seven, Dolphin leaves school to join the other HydroWings.
Years later some of the HydroWings have traveled to the Water Tribe and fallen under their protection.

I wanna get more annoying about my WoF OCs on here, but two things are namely stopping me. 1) I'm...not really obsessed with them as I used to be, even if they still rattle around in my head, and 2) I can't draw nor have writing of them so they're just like...guys to me. Like there's the angry candy-cane looking one I wrote a mediocre fanfic about three/four years back. There's the one who gets stuck in a paradoxical timeloop with no clear explanation or end. There's the OC x Canon one that dies tragically. There's the one who I think looks cool but I can't describe. There's the one I made to be an asshole. There's the one who is a body-swapping who constantly gets amnesia. There's th

20 Questions for Writers;
How many works do you have on Ao3?
Eleven (11), most of which are abandoned.
What is your word count?
In terms of published words, 84,879.
What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly FMA and Ben 10. I wrote for Naruto back in middle and highschool and wrote an unfinished, fifty-k WoF fic that shall forever wither within my Google Docs. I wrote one or two MLP and TT fics at some point.
What are your Top 5 Fics as determined by Kudos?
Master of Forgery (old oneshot)
Rooted in Xenotime (prologue fic for a paused project).
A Meeting with Paradox (abandoned oneshot thingie).
For All the Little Moments (I think it was a oneshot?)
Someone, Something, and All In-Between (The Project.)
Do you respond to comments?
Yes, for they are the fruit by which my motivation to post thrives.
What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably To Fix The Broken– a Naruto fic from early highschool which I pretend to not exist.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think that would be For All the Little Moments.
Do you get hate on your fics?
No. I did receive hate over a character concept once, but it was deserved per my fundamental misunderstanding of the medical condition I had exploited ‘cause I thought it was interesting. Mistakes were made and regrets are had. I thank those who called me out for it.
Do you write smut?
Pre-teen me did one time out of morbid curiosity. I’m ace and fairly disinterested, occasionally repulsed, by The Fluids.
I deleted that fic ‘cause ew.
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written as of yet?
Yes.
Probably To Fix The Broken’s sequel. It was a crossover between, what, ten different medias?
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nay.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Sort of? I helped a friend plan out their idea and then wrote its second draft.
What’s your all-time favourite ship?
I’m not sure that I have one… Maybe platonic Ben Tennyson and Rook Blonko because I have decided Rook to be ace and Ben to be demiromantic.
What’s a WIP you want to finish but might never do so?
Someone, Something, and All In-Between. That bad boy’s been on the backburner on-and-off for about two years now and is only halfway done.
What are your writing strengths?
I make my own illustrations.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I don’t like editing and very rarely ever do the actual writing part.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
This is the main reason why I’ve been able to retain and practice my French (which is necessary for my major), thus I am partial to its usage.
First fandom you ever wrote for?
I think Naruto? Possibly Teen Titans?
Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
In The Light.
It’s a fluffier fic in which Ed manages with the mundane struggles posed by his disabilities while trying to run errands and prepare for a tiny holiday with Nina. I was projecting hard onto it.
(Psssst, @wingsofescape , @nerves-nebula , might I tempt you with these fine questions?)
20 questions for writers
I was tagged to do this by @isnt-it-pretty , so thank you for that!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
I think 16
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
535,969. Most of that is from my longest fic tbh.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I actively write for BHNA and FMA. I also have a crossover with Death Note, and have written for Les Mis (crossover) and Naruto too. When I was younger I wrote a fic for Undertale and a couple for Avengers which I've now orphaned since I know I won't be continuing with those fandoms or fics.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Eraserhead - 8153 (BNHA fic)
the tin can man - 3124 (BNHA and FMA crossover/fusion fic)
not the first time (but hopefully the last) - 985 (BNHA fic)
When The Rain Falls - 834 (FMAB fic)
Izuku has a guardian... something and his name is Light Yagami - 810 (Death Note and BNHA crossover)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do my best to within a couple of days on my actively updating long fic. I try to respond on my other fics too but because those fics aren't at the forefront of my mind sometimes it takes me until the next update to get around to responding.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I would say not the first time (but hopefully the last) since even though the ending is sort of hopeful, it's definitely still angsty.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Eraserhead? It's a crack fic but like All For One retires to become a botanist by the end so I'd say that's a plus.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I actually have done before. When I was eleven on ff.net I wrote a twilight fic and decided that speech marks were too much effort to bother with. Definitely regretted that choice and received some pretty cruel feedback for it. Eleven year old me definitely learned a lesson that day.
Since then I've not really gotten hate hate, but there have definitely been a few comments that have been a little negative about my choice of plot device or something like that which is okay. It's not something I take to heart (and sometimes the advice is good.)
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I've never written smut and tbh I probably never will because I find romantic relationships the hardest to write!
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I write quite a lot of crossovers. In terms of craziest it would have to be the tin can man because that's just become a thing unto it's own.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Same as above!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Never! I'd like to say I'd be open to the idea but tbh I'd probably have a lot of trouble sticking with it as my schedule is all over the place.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I think Erasermic just for the comfort.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
When The Rain Falls. I've got so many other projects going on its just fully on the back burner at this point. I would like to finish it so I might just devote a month to writing solely that and get it to some sort of conclusion, but we'll see.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I would probably say characterisation and plotting/world building. I do think my dialogue can be quite good but it depends how invested in the scene I am. I'm definitely better at writing angst than regular conversation.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I don't have a beta reader and I have a tendency to skim read so I know I post chapters with mistakes even after combing through them. Plus I'm impatient, so it'll be little things like words missed out of a sentence that my brain has automatically filled in, in my rush to get it published! I think also I make my sentences too wordy and quite often can't seem to find the right structure. Like I know what I want to say but I can't get it onto the page in the right order.
Also I think my plots can become a bit too unwieldy meaning I have to work very hard to keep up with all my odds and ends of character arcs and plot devices etc. which is also fun!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I personally wouldn't as I don't want to make a fic less accessible and I don't trust myself to get it right. French is the only other language I have enough understanding in that I probably could muddle my way through finding the correct grammar etc but I don't want my readers having to break out google translate for my fics.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
That would have to be Twilight when I was eleven.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
the tin can man - a BNHA and FMA crossover. It's everything to me and I've put so much of myself into it. I know I'm going to finish it, even though it is a huge project. I have adhd and anxiety and so projects for me are difficult and even just finishing it would be amazing so I can prove to myself that I can do it!
I'm tagging @alighted-willow @aobawilliams @dumbassrasure @shadowwolfsworld
no pressure to do this! :-)

A bit of a warm up doodle of a WOF character for the comic. I’ve been sick the past week thats why nothing’s been posted.
Yes, I am aware that this character looks nothing like any of the species but that’ll be explained in due time. :D

I think it would be very Gucci if IceWing physiology (every wof fan’s favourite paradox) and the fact that IceWings were the first tribe to have Animus magic were somehow linked.
Perhaps during the Scorching when the tribes were forming, the proto-IceWings/first IceWing ancestor was an animus and used their magic, for whatever reason, to make themselves and/or a group of dragons able to survive in the arctic.
It changed their physiology in a way that could be inherited and, from that point on, acted as any normal biological characteristic - as in it was subject to natural selection and all the evolution that entails.

Surprise surprise I have Thoughts about Peacemaker     ^-^ (and how he neatly ties up the themes of freewill in WoF arcs 1 & 2)
//spoilers for like. all of the first 10 WoF books but esp the very end of Darkness of Dragons
god my feelings about the end of the second arc are Numerous and Complicated and basically revolve around the three obvious Things; Peacemaker, Qibli-Winter-Moon love triangle, & Anemone saying lesbian rights. Lets start off with that first thing tho:
-full disclosure I actually like Peacemaker ngl. Like its smart Kinkajou got her moment to shine (fucking FINALLY) etc etc.  But I also don't think it was, like, a morally good or fine thing to do? But! I also think that was kind of the point!! kinda?
-(also even more important disclosure, I honestly don't like Darkstalker much at all, though if it wins me any favors I do think he's interesting and complex and all!)
-Ok listen so the series is like,, basically about freewill, right? It's kinda the central thesis of the series (or at least the first two arcs lmao that's all I've read lmao); is destiny something made for your or something you choose. Ya know, is Tsunami destined to be queen because she's the lost heir, are Animus's destined to loose their souls, if Peril is 'choosing' who she's devoted to is that freewill and/or how do you develop independence when you've never made a choice before, can Turtle avoid all the bullshit of the world by trying to keep his head down (no <3) was Moon destined to release Darkstalker all along, if you've been under mind warping mind control shenanigans' is your mind really your own and are you capable of making choices, etc etc I can do this with like most characters its REALLY prevalent in the series lmao.
-Anyway! the question posed by the series is 'can you choose your destiny or is it made for you?'. in the first five books there's one obvious massive driving force for this; the prophecy. Sunny is the only one really invested in the prophecy itself, Tsunami thinks it's all bull and is basically offended by the notion, Clay thinks they should just do their best, Starflight believes the prophecy will happen regardless so he's chill, and Glory is disillusioned and apathetic about it.
-Then they reveal that the prophecy is hogwash, and Sunny still believes in it anyway because it's what her whole life was based around and without it her life is meaningless. So her whole arc is finding another meaning in life with Thorn and the Outclaws and then choosing to do her best to fulfill the prophecy anyway, because someone has to and no one else will. So she chooses to do the prophecy, but it's a fake prophecy so it is her choice not something predestined for her, so there. Free will exists and is good and prophecies don't because no one can tell the future end arc
-then you start the next book with a protagonist that can tell prophecies For Real, and you get a little scared they're gonna backpedal or retread the same ground, but don't worry because the definitely-not-evil voice in her head and conveniently knows all about her powers so he can assure everyone that prophecies are not set in stone, just some most likely futures. Free will still exists Tsunami stans, dw
-And they can do that because the prophecy is not the question of the second series- Darkstalker is.
-The thing about the Darkstalker conflict is that it's about Utilitarianism, ya know? Like, he comes out and he says 'I can see all the futures, and I can tell for sure exactly which outcomes make the most dragons happy, and I have the power to not only see them but manifest them'. He doesn't care for other dragon's freewill- as long as they're happy or content or powerful, why would it matter if they got helped along there a little bit?
-OKAY so took us a hot second to get here! But! Peacemaker!
-It's valid and interesting I think because it kinda pushes the whole conflict into a paradox; they can't let Darkstalker carry on like he is, because he thinks he knows best for all of dragonkind and will do anything to get his version of a happy ending. But the only way to stop him from being a god emperor who's fundamental flaw is his lack of care about other dragon's free will and agency. And the only way to stop him and get an ending that's good for everyone is to take away his free will.
-It's the Batman no killing rule. it's that one DLC from Fallout 3 that's actually kind of good. If they're all in 100% on the 'free will matters above all else' angle, they can't stop Darkstalker because he doesn't want to be stopped. It'd be a utilitarian move, putting the needs of the many over the needs of the few, which goes against the Whole Entire Thing
-But! Darkstalker is also delusional and a narcist and an aspiring all powerful god emperor bent on wiping out or driving other tribes into hiding forever who just sucks, like, so much. So of course they turn him into a literal child without power lmao it wasn't really a question, it's just the ideological battle happening in the background. And it's what makes peacemaker so interesting!
-first of all, it's Kinkajou, the one who was most recently under a mind altering spell that she loathed. She hated anemone for even thinking about it and is still a little bitter, but when push came to shove, she's the one that did that to Darkstalker. It wasn't even just a 'make him the same dragon fundamentally but without the trauma and magic'- she changed his body (by turning him half Nightwing) and planted interests in his head (strawberries) and (is at least implied?) to have made him literally incapable of much evil. Like Moon confirms that in his head he isn't the same dragon at all.
-And like I get it! She is, very understandably, erring as far on the side of caution as physically possible! I'd do the same! It's not a diss or anything, and I’m certainly not saying that Kinkajou is just as bad as Darkstalker or will/can go on to be so! Not even a little lmao
-it's just. Interesting. Like, if you think about it, they did the same thing Darkstalker was doing to Fierceteeth for Clearsight, after everyone was loudly and visibly repulsed by it. It's the same thing that happened with Pyrite and Hailstorm, except entirely irreversible. Like that isn’t Darkstalker there anyway you slice it, for all intents and purposes he’s dead. but it's ok because he was a 'bad dragon' with no friends or family that would miss him in that form.
-Basically the first arc said 'free will is always the way to go and there's no justification for taking it away ever' and the second arc spent all of it's time building up to 'sometimes sacrifices have to be made'. So like everyone complains about it being tonally dissonant and out of character and a crop out and everything and I get that and I'm not saying that's objectively wrong or a bad take or anything! And, like most things in DoD, it was admittedly rushed and at least mildly underdeveloped lmao. But that's my first hot take, and hopefully my longest lmao
