I’m Alive

Hey there, just letting y’all know I’m still alive. I always feel sad when an account I follow goes radio silence, and I’d hate any of my followers to think something bad happened to me.

It started as just trying to avoid spn spoilers, but then my ADHD butt felt like I had to watch all the seasons again before I started the new one and...I just never watched any of it. Which is something that happens to me a lot. Still haven’t finished Sherlock and Once Upon a Time for the same reasons. I just felt like I couldn’t get on Tumblr at ALL so...That’s where I’ve been.

Also, like literally everyone, the pandemic kicked my butt and I’m still feeling the effects on my mental health. I haven’t written at all since March 2020 (except for once, doing some story notes, and then my computer immediately self-destructed.) I’d like to write more of this story, edit some of the stuff I already posted, but since i haven’t finished all SPN seasons I feel like I can’t? For some reason?

Hi other John Winchester fans that are still around! I have a request to make of you.

I am currently having A Trying Time and I believe that more John content would improve the quality of my life. I'm rewatching SPN and at the end of season 1, and it has suddenly dawned on me that I cannot watch the start of season 2 right now. I've imprinted on this fictional dad like a desperate baby duckling, and that means that I am not allowed to witness really bad things happening to him as long as I feel this wonky.

My brain also craves fluff about him. I want to turn to fic for it, but as I imagine you know, finding John fic where he is both a) a decent person, and b) a main character, is a downright chore. It gets even harder when we're also talking fluff fic. So I'm asking you all--

Does anyone know good John fics that more or less match the following criteria:

John POV, John-centric or heavily featuring John

Happy or hopeful end, or contains more comfort than hurt

Significant sweet and/or fluffy moments, the more the better

Endearing, sympathetic or relatable John; vulnerable John is excellent, complicated John is welcome, but absolutely no John hate (and preferably no excessive bashing of any other character either)

John is not an abuser or extremely neglecting or anything like that

Bonus: the fic is long, and/or set in some sort of an AU where they're not all constantly in mortal danger.

Gen and shippy are both fine. Any ship whatsoever is welcome. John x Reader is welcome. RPF mayyybe, it's not my usual fare but I'm willing to check it out. SPN era John is best, but TW era John is good too. Whatever the fic is like, it cannot possibly be too fluffy.

Basically all I want is fic about John Winchester that makes me go "awwwww <3". Any suggestions that anyone has would be much appreciated and valued.

it honestly would’ve been so easy for spn to spend those first 13 or so episodes building up john only for him to never show up (i know we see him in the pilot, but other than that). sam and dean are looking but he’s already dead by azazel’s hand, and he’s just this character we have pieces to go off of, to build up, and that could’ve been a really fun sandbox, but my god am i so glad that we did get him in a couple episodes. there’s still enough pieces that we get dropped referring to how he was pre-series that he’s still someone we can extrapolate and build upon but that canon dynamic between john & dean and john & sam and the three of them (i am specifically thinking of the scene where john is upset with sam but chastises dean over his care of the impala instead, the scenes where sam & john yell at each other and dean is trying to break it up but nobody will look at him, and no rest for the wicked) was soooo crucial to how i view all 3 of the winchester boys. and also jeffrey dean morgan is really hot
