it honestly would’ve been so easy for spn to spend those first 13 or so episodes building up john only for him to never show up (i know we see him in the pilot, but other than that). sam and dean are looking but he’s already dead by azazel’s hand, and he’s just this character we have pieces to go off of, to build up, and that could’ve been a really fun sandbox, but my god am i so glad that we did get him in a couple episodes. there’s still enough pieces that we get dropped referring to how he was pre-series that he’s still someone we can extrapolate and build upon but that canon dynamic between john & dean and john & sam and the three of them (i am specifically thinking of the scene where john is upset with sam but chastises dean over his care of the impala instead, the scenes where sam & john yell at each other and dean is trying to break it up but nobody will look at him, and no rest for the wicked) was soooo crucial to how i view all 3 of the winchester boys. and also jeffrey dean morgan is really hot
