Since pairs skating is dying (and is actually one of my favourite disciplines). Alena going to Pairs makes my heart happy

She deserves much better and the Fed will never have her back as long as they protect Eteri. She could’ve and should’ve won everything for multiple seasons. Anyone who knows Figure skating and has eyes knows that she is special. If she is half as good in pairs, I can’t wait for what’s to come. I will miss her in singles but if this makes her happy, I’m happy for her too

Imagine she consistently lands a throw triple axel? Or that she gets interesting choreo just like Daria P. had?

I don’t know anything about ice dance, so I don’t know who was robbed, or if there was any robbing involved in this comp, but can I just say, the fact the Russian team who won had their RD set to Stilyagi gives me life. Seriously that was one of my wishes for this season. Why skate to a typical broadway musical when there is an amazing russian one available. 

Seriously every one go watch Stilyagi. The music is amazing. The dances are amazing. The story is great. The ending makes me cry every time. 

Yuma Kagiyama Youth Olympic champion!!! That FS was something else. And Yuma is quickly becoming one of my favourite skaters.

I was rooting for Ksenia Sinitsyna, but Young You won fair and square. Also “Don’t cry for me Argentina” gets me every time. 

Not Ksenia’s best skate, but she has the choreo of the whole event by a mile. Her programs are just that good. 

Just the whole Pairs event. It was great. Almost everyone was clean/cleanish. Great performances from most the participants. (well the ukrainian and chinese teams did not have a good outing, but that’s it). 

Flemming/Isbell, making their international debut, straight from the novices, at freaking Youth Olympics, and killing it. Great elements. Polished. Good choreo. Great skating. 

McIntosh/Toste should get a medal for the fact that  they keep getting better with every comp. That’s progress for you. The rate is amazing. Their FS was one the moments of this competition. 

Butaeva/Berulava’s costumes and choreo for the FS which is very nice. 

Panfilova/Rylov destroying the competition. Finally a perfect skate after three not that good outings. And a nice redemption from RusNats. Here the throws were on point.
