The Court of Arbitration for Sport has issued its decision in the Kamila Valieva case

• Ms Valieva is found to have committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) under Clause 4.1 of the All-Russian Anti-Doping Rules of 24 June 2021 (the Russian ADR).

• A period of four (4) years ineligibility is imposed on Ms Valieva, starting on 25 December 2021.

• All competitive results of Ms Valieva from 25 December 2021 are disqualified, with all the resulting consequences (including forfeiture of any titles, awards, medals, profits, prizes, and appearance money).

The consequences linked to the retroactive disqualification of Ms Valieva from past events, including from the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, were not within the scope of this arbitration procedure and will have to be examined by the sports organisations concerned.

It’s legit insane that it took TWO FULL YEARS to get to the only decision that ever made sense but it’s a win for clean sport and clean athletes that Kamila Valieva got the maximum possible ban.

That being said, if nothing will be done about the complicity of her coaching team and the entire Russian skating federation, they will continue doing it over and over again, we all know none of their athletes were ever clean, they just weren’t caught.

It will be very very satisfying if Russia will be stripped of their team medal, they never earned it anyway.

No I don't feel the same way and actually from all sides I read much of the world is upset about the doping, but I guess you can make every lie up and you will find someone that believes Kamila would eat a strawberry cake from granpa right before a competition??? (That's not what I made up, that's what the official defense in front of the CAS hearing is)

I don't even have words anymore for the discrepancies in truth and fairytales...like yes she is/was a wonderful athlete but at what cost and because of what??? Would she be able to be that athlete if not for the drugs and medications she took??? 60 supplements and medications over the course of 2 years given to a 15 year old, is that normal??? How should any clean athlete win against someone with unfair background??? Kamila herself may not know anything about the performance enhancers but the adults do...

And the positive doping test itself all a crime by the big bad West??? And adults could have taken responsibility and her ban would not be 4 years, but instead they created fairytales to defend her. Eteri did not even take part in the investigation.

And Gold medal winner is Anna Shcherbakova (even if it's doubtful Valieva was the only one doping) who is also from Russia, so what a discredit to Anna too.

I understand to support Kamila Valieva - she is also a victim of the system and her team - but this won't change the fact that she placed 4th, that she cheated, that she doped, that she is banned.

US figure skaters set to get team gold medals at Paris Olympics after ruling in 2022 doping case

The U.S. figure skating team was formally confirmed as gold medalists from the 2022 Beijing Olympics by a sports court ruling Thursday, opening the way for the team to get its medals at the Paris Summer Games.

It took the latest CAS ruling in the Valieva saga to guarantee the U.S. team its overdue gold medals, and for Japan to be in line for upgraded silvers.

Special medal ceremonies are planned by the IOC in the second week of the Paris Olympics to honor athletes whose results have been upgraded because of doping cases that were prosecuted and resolved in recent years.

Those celebrations will be in the Champions Park plaza looking across to the Eiffel Tower on the opposite bank of the Seine River.

“This (CAS) decision comes just in time to still be able to make the medal allocation for gold and silver possible” in Paris, the International Olympic Committee said in a statement.

Valieva's submission to CAS was that the drugs got into her body after her grandfather prepared a dessert for her using the cutting board he used to crush his heart medication.

Because when I think of Eteri girls I think of eating dessert before a competition.
