If you don't know, Pandora Hearts Month is an event that celebrates Pandora Hearts. The first three weeks celebrate the three main trios (Golden Trio, Rainsworth Trio, and Tragedy Trio) and the fourth is a bonus week that celebrates any ships/friendships/ot3s fans chose and love. You can create edits, fanart, drabbles, fanfictions, amvs and mms!

We will be having a Vanitas no Carte Week this year! Last year I said we'd have a VnCMonth but I never got around to creating it. I want to make sure to include a week for it this year, in case that happens again!!

The event will likely occur during October and November!

I'll give you guys somewhere around a week to vote on these!

In case you're curious, the multi-word prompts all came from my writing group. We have a prompt every week, and are up to 215 total at the moment! I thought you guys might enjoy using them too, so I used a number wheel to randomly select some! Pandora: mh yeah. About a year ago I received a text from Regulus saying "Panda, can you check if this three hotels have availability for November 2024 for a wedding?" I asked if he had gotten engaged without my knowledge

Pandora: *tearing up* to witch he responded "No, but I'm getting married next year with or without James" and at last here we are today. The journey to this joyous occasion has been nothing short of incredible. I can't imagine life without Regulus. I realized how lucky and how rear is to have a cousin who I consider more so my best friend and a brother. You accomplished everything you set your mind to and that's why I reached for the moon because I've seen you conquer the universe.

Regulus: *tearing up*

Pandora: our bond goes beyond just family. We're a package deal. When I told Regulus I was allergic to apples, the next day he was too. When Regulus told me he was dating a guy from Gryffindor...I did too

During the worst days and months of his life I witnessed how you looked at him as if he was your home, yours to cherished. i hope to showcase more of my ocs in 2024 hehe! im FINALLY getting around to finishing art i left to rot in my folders (the pandora hearts drawing last month being one of em). if you saw the WIP of THIS particular drawing 2 yrs ago... no you didn’t 💔

my charas are very personal to me, but tbh ive always been a bit hesitant to share their stories. over time i realized ... it’s kind of a shame to not make art from one’s heart. which is something i regret a lot year after year whenever i make my yearly art summary reflection. i'm like damn i need to make more emotionally evoking pieces!!! so i'm gonna keep going in 2024 with that in mind ❤ i have to admit, although this drawing started 2 years ago, and there's a lot i would do differently if i were to supposedly draw it now - this concept goes pretty hard.

the final drawing stayed pretty close to the original concept which im so relieved for! i think part of the reason why i left it on the backburner for so long, was the fact that i included so many details, and i was unsure of how to colour the "background". (not to mention stuff like cons & real life getting in the way).

i'm glad for discovering a really handy watercolour brush, it's helped me a lot in my last few drawings, bc i dont have to colour in each detail. especially since the witch hat atelier: eternal ephemera zine piece i did. otherwise if i coloured this back in 2022 with my usual method, i'm pretty sure i really would have included a shading and highlight layer for each individual toy... HAHAHA. much to think about

oh yeah and in the last few days of drawing this i was listening to some visual kei bands. i love how some of the band members literally have been performing since like the 90s or something and DO NOT AGE and are literal vampires. every so often i fall back into visual kei (you can tangentially thank aggretsuko although yes i know it's not the same). and i kind of realized. i like Jack's edgy design so much because he looks like. a visual kei esque vampire.

Day 1: "My heart is shaped by my home"

I always imagined Neytiri to have the hardest time adjusting to the family's new home on the reef. The kids had each other and their new friends, even Jake found a sort of mentor figure in Tonowari, but Neytiri? Not only did she have to bury a son there, but it doesn't even seem like she really found any connection to the Metkayina or discovered any love for the reef. She's a forest Na'vi through and through and will probably be the last member of the family to truly adopt the way of the water, if at all.

Rural La Paz County, Arizona, positioned on the Colorado River across from California, is at the center of a growing fight over water in the American Southwest. At the heart of the battle is a question: Should water be treated as a human right, to be allocated by governments with the priority of sustaining life? Or is it a commodity to be bought, sold and invested in for the greatest profits?

As the West suffers its worst megadrought in 1,200 years, investors have increasingly eyed water as a valuable asset and a resource to be exploited. For years, investment firms have bought up farmland throughout the Southwest, drilling to new depths for their water-hungry crops and causing nearby wells to run dry. Now, new players have entered the scene: “Water management companies” are purchasing up thousands of acres of farmland, with the intention of selling the water rights at a profit to cities and suburbs elsewhere in the state. Some argue that treating water as a commodity can efficiently get it where it is needed most. But others fear that water markets open the door to profiteering and hoarding, leaving poorer communities in the dust.

In 2013 and 2014, GSC Farm, a subsidiary of a water management company called Greenstone Resource Partners, which is backed by MassMutual, bought nearly 500 acres of farmland in Cibola, a tiny town in Arizona’s La Paz County, for just under $10 million. The farmland comes with the rights to more than 2,000 acre-feet of Colorado River water a year. (An acre-foot is the amount of water it takes to cover one acre with one foot of water.) Then in 2018, Greenstone sold the water rights, in perpetuity, to Queen Creek, a rapidly growing suburb of Phoenix nearly 200 miles away, for $24 million.

The transfer marked the first time a water management company sold Colorado River water rights. La Paz and two other counties sued to block the transfer, arguing that the Bureau of Reclamation, the federal agency that oversees water resource management, had conducted an insufficient environmental review before signing off. The counties’ request for a preliminary injunction was denied in April 2023 by a federal judge, and three months later the water began flowing down the Central Arizona Project, a 336-mile canal. Then, the judge seemingly backtracked in February 2024, ordering a more thorough environmental review.

“In the meantime, they’re still allowing for the water to flow, which we argued should have been stopped completely until the complete environmental studies have been done,” Holly Irwin, a La Paz County supervisor, told Truthout. “It’s really frustrating, not only for myself, but for the other leaders and elected officials in what we refer to as the river communities.”

The ultimate results of the lawsuit could affect how easily water management companies are able to transfer river water rights for profit in the future.

“I’ve had people already contacting me, asking, ‘Hey, look, I’m looking to buy this piece of property. It’s got water rights. Can it be transferred off the Colorado River?’” said Irwin. “Which is what we knew was going to happen. They just opened up Pandora’s box.”

Companies like Greenstone are betting that the price of water will increase. Western states generally allocate water through a “prior appropriation” policy of “first in time, first in right.” In times of shortage, those with the most senior water claims — often farmers and ranchers whose ancestors claimed Native land — are allotted their full share of water first. Now, companies like Greenstone are lining up to buy those increasingly valuable water rights.

The Colorado River provides drinking water to 40 million people across seven U.S. states, two Mexican states, and multiple tribal lands. Since 1922, its water has been allocated among the states through a framework created by the Colorado River Compact. But river volume has decreased 20 percent since the beginning of the century, leading to tense renegotiations, with the three “lower basin” states — California, Arizona and Nevada — agreeing to reduce their water shares.

Compared to Colorado River water, groundwater tends to be less regulated. Major investment banks have spent hundreds of millions buying up farms with claims to the groundwater beneath them — part of a larger movement by investors into physical assets like lumber, buildings and infrastructure.

Once pumped, groundwater aquifers in warm, dry places can take thousands of years to replenish. In an effort to conserve water basins, Arizona passed the 1980 Groundwater Management Act, heavily restricting groundwater pumping in several urban “active-management areas” (AMAs), including the Phoenix and Tucson areas. It also mandated that developers obtain a state Certificate of Assured Water Supply, demonstrating their new projects have enough water for 100 years. The law is credited as a success for protecting water levels in urban areas. But its lack of restrictions on groundwater removal from rural basins has become a concern as the state population swells and rural wells run dry.

-ahhh loving the yearning angst of unrequited love (but it's actually requited) in this fic.

"Amaranthine" by @opttagoyeo - Rated T, Various AU, Series of unrelated one-shots. A few drabbles/ideas ranging from fluff, confusing, humor, and angst regarding the most iconic and popular canon couple of Konohagakure, Naruhina.

"After Office Hours" by Pandora_Imperatrix - Rated M, Canon-Divergent AU, Multi-chapter, Complete. Naruto is lonely after Sakura and Sasuke left the village to travel together, he keeps leaving the office later and later, things start to change after one night when his secretary Hinata and him share a couple of vending machine beers. In this AU Naruto becomes Hokage a lot earlier than in the manga and The Last never happened.

-It's been years since this was updated, and recently Pandora updated and just finished it!!!!!!

"Friends with benefits" by @pastillesch - Rated T, Modern AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. "I'm dumping you" --Naruto blinked once. Twice. "But we're not even together". It was more a stress relief than anything romantic, really. A hobby one would say. And now it was time to search for a new hobby. Or at least a new partner for this kind of hobby.

-I am a total sucker for this type of size difference au. Like, it's just such a weird trope. It's just so weird. I love it. Makuro767 does a wonderful job with it!

"Love Is Not A Cage" by @nightowl27-writer - Rated E, Canon-Divergent AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. When Naruto comes back to his senses after the battle with Pein, the first thing he remembers are those baffling words she said just before she nearly died for him, and he NEEDS to hear them again. Will the truth set them free? Or are some confessions too much for the soul?

-that recent update killed me. In a good way. but oh man.

"Hinata (Mirror, Mirror)" from "Chicken Ramen for the Pervert's Soul" by @wickermayne - Rated E, Canon-Compliant, One-shot. Naruto rolled his eyes at the purchase asking why she needed it and complained about how much room it took up, but Hinata enjoyed modeling different dresses in front of it, loved how it let her see all the many different angles. And that seemed to keep Naruto quiet enough about the mirror.

And at that time, it had been "months" since the asker sent this. Well, here's the ones I've been reading recently:

-It's been awhile since I read an irredeemable Naruto, and Niya's not lying when she calls the characterization ruthless!!

"Prey" by @sessakag - Rated E, Modern/Gangs AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. Following a midnight chance encounter with Hinata Hyuuga, a smitten sociopath, Naruto Uzumaki, tries his hand at romance, determined to make her fall in love with him the only way he knows how.

-it's the mystery of Hinata's background that really fuels this piece for me. Icing on the cake is Naruto as a wonderfully sexy and dangerous stranger and the sexual tension between them that is absolutely exquisite.

"Paper Rings" by Its_Levioooosaa - Rated E, College/Soulmates AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. In a world where soulmates are found after a touch and after a brief moment of pain, resulting in a red loop circling the first knuckle of each person's pinky finger. Fating the two people together and leaving it up to them to decide what their relationship will be. Hinata had just stopped at her friends for a piece of pizza, little did she know that she'd be leaving with a soulmate.

-It's a cute premise and I can't wait to see what happens next! I love a good soulmate AU!

"Wanting More Than A Poolside View" by @bunny-hoodlum - Rated E, High School AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. Just a Sukumizu fetish scenario where Hinata is the target of a panty thief and recruits Naruto to investigate himself.

-I've been loving all of Bunny's updates this year, but I'm really hoping for an update on this one....or Narutoland haha, but I dunno what it is about High School NaruHina and their immaturity, it's just so fun!

hello anon, thank you for your ask!

i'm currently working on two multiple chapter fics, obviously the basketball diaries (which i will begin chapter 15 of today) and i recently started the blue is the new pink sequel, lord knows why. i'm also taking part in a tgcf reverse big bag, although the fic isn't due for a couple of months so i'm not particularly pressured with that one especially since i already started it.

as for future ideas, i don't really have a huge amount at the moment? when the basketball diaries is finished, i'm probably going to start a tgcf college AU, sort of like i will find any way to your wild heart but like, rebranded to another series. which is funny because that fic was basically rebranded from dirty laundry, a college AU for pandora hearts and vanitas no carte i wrote in 2019 primarily.

a lot of people have asked me what my favourite fics (assuming you mean ones i wrote) are, and my top answer is always otherside. not because its quality is the best, because i know it's not, but there was just. something about that fic. i started it in 2017, deleted it, wrote 10 chapters on a private account, then stopped writing it for many years. then when i got back into dialovers i edited and reuploaded the chapters, and finally in november 2022, i uploaded a new chapter for the first time in 4 years. it took me another few months to finish it, and in the end i completed the fic are 6 whole years. the fact it took 6 years to finish it crazy, but like, i actually finished it, and i always loved the AU.

other favourite fics i wrote for dialovers, because we'd be here forever if i went through every fandom, probably include i will find any way to your wild heart bc i'm a slut for angsty college AUs. i'm also pretty happy with how giving it all, rising to fall to my grave (the reijiruki rehab AU) and all this effort to make it look effortless (the alcoholic shu fic) turned out. as for oneshots, i actually think one of my best was auld lang syne, the new years fic i wrote at the end of 2023 (well, 1st jan 2024), which was sadly the last proper DL fic i wrote... but i had rlly good feedback on that one :3

oh, and the original blue is the new pink is a beast, and i will never actually know how i finished that or why the fuck i'm writing a sequel now.

Maria Brink and Chris Howorth look back on a great year

"2023 was a big year," Chris Howorth says proudly. He's not exaggerating.

This year, his band In This Moment dropped one of the best albums of 2023, GODMODE, toured arenas, had a song featured in John Wick: Chapter 4 and made some big plans for 2024.

Before 2023 comes to a close, we caught up with Howorth and In This Moment frontwoman Maria Brink about the last 12 months of music, movies, live shows and more.

WHAT WOULD YOU CONSIDER IN THIS MOMENT'S BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT OF 2023? CHRIS HOWORTH I think our biggest, proudest achievement is this new album GODMODE. And I would say that's kind of cliché because anybody who has a new album coming out is gonna say that.

But we went through the whole COVID pandemic with no new music coming out and weren't sure what was gonna be happening — like everybody else. We had all that on our shoulders, we've all been going through our own things, and releasing this album and how smoothly it all came together and how it all felt doing it...

We were saying "flow like a river" and quit worrying about every little thing over and over and just try to enjoy the process and just do it. And I think that's how it all came about. So that definitely, 100 percent, for me would be the crowning achievement of 2023.

MARIA BRINK I also agree, GODMODE coming together and the way that that happened. But I gotta show some love to [us being in] a John Wick movie this year. That was massive.

And then for us, we just headlined ... I'm originally from Albany, New York, and I started out at little, tiny theaters that hold 40 or 50 people there. Little mini clubs. And I just got to headline there on my last tour with an arena and pyro and it was just such a full-circle for me. My heart was full of love.

HOWORTH The tour was a big thing, too, for me. I was thinking while we were in it, "I can't believe this." This is the biggest we've ever been, this is what you think about when you're a little kid wanting to do it and we're here doing it. It's just crazy.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE NEW BANDS YOU DISCOVERED THIS YEAR? HOWORTH For me, there's a band I found on Pandora. Because I sit and play video games a lot when I'm not doing music, and I smoke and listen to new metal stations and try to find new good bands that I like. I've never grown out of that. And I found this band called In Retrospect that are from England. And they're really cool and heavy, and hopefully they do really well. They're brand new.

And then there's this band Slaughter to Prevail that's blowing up, everybody's loving them right now.

And there's another band called Sylosis, and they've been around for a long time. They've always been cool, they've always had cool music. But their new album is super awesome and I think that this might be a big shift for them as well.

BRINK I think the newest thing I've been listening to that I'm loving is the new ††† (Crosses). I also love HEALTH, I've gotten into them a lot. Immortal Girlfriend is another one that I'm really loving. And Cannons.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE BAND YOU SAW LIVE THIS YEAR? BRINK I think I'm gonna say the same as Chris but I'm waiting for him to say it.

HOWORTH No, I'm gonna say something completely off the wall. Because I didn't watch a lot of bands this year even though we toured a lot. I'm gonna say Suicide Silence. They have a new album that came out, they're crushing it.

I saw them at the festival in Wisconsin and they crushed during the day so I'm gonna give it up to them.

BRINK Because it was nostalgic to me from when I was younger and all that, I'll say Pantera. They reunited, we did some festivals with them, and I went out and watched. And there was just that feeling of bringing you back watching it that makes me feel so nostalgic inside.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE OF 2023? BRINK I'm gonna pick John Wick! [Laughs] There's a new horror movie that just came out, it's epic. It's called Talk to Me. Actually, it's really scary.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED FOR IN 2024? HOWORTH GODMODE is out and 2024 is pretty much the GODMODE touring year. So I'm excited for whatever we do in 2024, and just another year, man.

Having an album out and everything, it should be exciting and cool. We've got some cool plans lined up for touring and seeing everybody.

BRINK I'm exciting for all the things we're trying to manifest. Everything around GODMODE, basically. New soundtracks, new movies. We want to get in the video game world.

HOWORTH I'm excited for Dune 2.
