Oogway and Kai's backstory or smth

When Oogway was a child he ended up somehow in a not-small village and he worked and "lived" (cause the owner let him ofc) in a small store, he did small tasks like cleaning things, stocking, and doing some not-very-important mail (cause he had good handwriting lmao).

One day he made a mail but it fell just when it was leaving the village and by accident© Kai found it and made a letter between the words "hey your mail fell off just wanted to let you know" and sent it to the store address, then Oogway just wrote another saying "Thanks for being so nice, I will have to make another lol" and they just kept making letters to each other.

Oogway stayed more time than he planned. Still, he decided that he just had to keep traveling cause he was a "wild and free soul", so his last letter was asking for his friend's name. But, Kai answered "Sorry friend, my parents say that I shouldn't tell personal information to strangers, wish you luck" and Oogway just wrote, "The owner of the store said the same to me, farewell friend" and left the village.

However, some years later they reunited again when they enlisted in the army by coincidence©, they had a difficult start (mostly from Kai being bossy and Oogway being just as fresh as hell) but then they became best friends again.

Obviously, they never mentioned or even remembered the letters, things just happen sometimes.

I just watched one of those "here's what we know about this upcoming movie so far (fun fact it's nothing but the release date" YouTube videos, and the particular one I watched was about Kung Fu Panda 4, and the narrator was speculating on the plot of the movie saying how since the panda village was introduced in the 3rd movie, we might see the possibility of Po settling down and starting a family, thus creating a new generation of kung fu warriors.

The narrator also said this new family could be brought in with the introduction of Mei Mei (the female panda with the ribbons from the third movie) and I have two things to say about that:

First of all, Mei Mei very clearly had a little moment (it was a look but that's enough for a children's animated movie) with Hom-Lee (the panda with the bad teeth) after he got his teeth fixed near the end of the movie.

Secondly, if anyone thinks I'm gonna stand by while Dreamworks pairs up Po with anyone other than Tigress, then they need to meet me outside. I don't care how fucked up their hybrid tiger-panda kids look, the Shrek movies had fucking donkey dragons, they can make it work. GIVE ME TIGRESS AND PO GODDAMNIT

Personality wise what would Kai’s son be like?

Kai's son? I'm going to focus on the one I'm making for the upcoming ficlet: Yuelong, the oldest.

Yuelong is alot like his father- but seems to have many of his better qualities. He's also more sensitive, and prone to being a little emotional (crybaby, regardless of feeling), including bursts of sudden anger. However most of the time he gives off a semblance of serene temperament. He thinks he wants to be like his dad (someone he admires very much), and studies hard.

Yet, Yuelong misses the key component of being a warlord: a proclivity towards violence. Yuelong doesn't want to make people bleed. He doesn't even particularly like fighting, save for exercise, and only has interest in weapons and armor as art, and military stratagem for intellectual challenge. There's still pressure on him, especially as the eldest and the heir, to eventually take his father's place as "Supreme Warlord"- and for now, Yuelong thinks he might be fine with that, if he can just manage to get over his "squeamishness".

I love how extreme found family is in one piece. Like they took supernatural line of "Family don't end in blood" and actually made good on it. Because it's not just that the crew found each other even before that only really very briefly Robin, Usopp and Luffy could say that anyone biologically related to them raised them.

Like Luffy had Garp and that's his grandpa but he also had Makino and Shanks and the red hair pirates and they were a family unit and he also had Ace, Sabo Dandan and the bandits and they were a family as well and it's never who mattered more to Luffy or who actually raised him cause they all did. It'd be hard to put him in a nuclear family structure because so many people fill the same roles in his life in different ways and that's great like Kung Fu panda said "that doesn't mean less for one parent it just means more for Luffy"

And that's the thing I think sometime fandom can get very obsessive with trying to pin down who is whose surrogate father/mother how do they fit in the nuclear family structure and while that's fun and there's nothing wrong with head cannon characters that way I also think it's important to remember that not every relationship needs a title or definition sometimes you are just family and that's valid too.

Ace had Luffy and Garp but he also had the whitebeard pirates and his pops same with Sabo and the revolutionaries

Zoro with Kuina and his old kendo master, that was maybe more of a rivals, mentor mentee relationship than whatever Mihawk Zoro and Perona had going on but it's all family none the less.

Chopper with Hiririluk and Kureha. Perona and Moria, Usopp with the little village boys and Kaya. Shanks and Buggy with the Roger Pirates. They might not all have had defined roles with each other but it was still family.

Just like Sanji, Nami, Franky and Law and their more defined Surrogate familes

And people like Vivi Robin Usopp and Shirahoshi who had/have their biological parents/family that love them and raised them.

It's nobody that I've just mentioned properly fitting squarely into any of these categories because it's all complicated family is complicated and its messy and it's big and everyone in your family might not have even met but it's family and it doesn't end in blood and for some people it never started there either.
