Pretty stoked with the way this Hill Giant has turned out.

Smoothed out the transitions in the skin some more, saturated the skin tone with a smidge more colour, brought out the shadows and a few more skin spots. A little dried blood on the end of the club just added that last little something.

This Hill Giant now gets to go to his new home which I still have to make yet. A nice grassy hillside with some lovely flowers, perhaps some daisies and a hint of a hill giant cave. Then it’ll get a nice photoshoot not just some shots at the paint table LOL

I’m putting together a little process video. There were so many layers trying to get this to where I wanted it. It could have been done, tabletop ready while ago but I had a vision and wouldn’t stop until I saw it come to life.

I forgot... So, you get two today. Yesterday’s prompt for #21daysofmyartworld was ‘favorite technique.’ I don’t use it often, but I love mixing oils with cold wax and laying on the paint with a palette knife. Here is a link to the little tutorial vid I put together on the skin so you can see the process from start to finish on the flesh on this Hill Giant (sculpt by Duncan Shadows). Quite pleased with the way it turned out. Still needs a base.

So much skin meant a lot of layers over many days. Had to have a lot of trust in the process for this one.

Technically it was tabletop ready after the first few layers but I had a vision so just kept going. Quite pleased with the end result.

I recommend master copies to anyone out there who just loves painting. Trying to repaint someone else's work gives you a chance to try and get in their head. But also to just focus on the brushwork and colors. Talk about a labor of love. I LOVE THIS WALL... been painting for days and this THIS WALL is the prettiest thing I’ve seen. I can’t wait to move in @sendroxymail furniture into this new space so I can just admire this wall and have a space I can call my own. It's been quite hectic with work and wedding season lately. Not being able to give much time to my paintings.
