Sweet little koi boi filled to the brim with recycled soft plastics and scraps of cardboard 🙌
I made this trash koi fish to add to my crappy wall of dodgy masks and alters #blessthismess
Created using rubbish, paper mache and acrylics 🐟

More plastic bottle cap buttons :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are more but these are just the ones Im the most proud of. More details in the image ID
[Image ID: 3 images taken of the buttons on a gray background. There are 5 buttons, 2 larger ones made of recycled milk gallon caps and 3 smaller recycled water bottle caps. I'll start with the two larger ones: the first one has the genderqueer pride flag painted on it. It has 3 horizontal stripes, purple, white and green from the top down. On the purple and green stripes, there are spirals painted on top of the stripes in a slightly lighter shade of purple and green respectively, and the same pattern on the middle white stripe painted in light gray. The second button is a leafy green with slightly lighter green vines painted on the sides, and the phrase "robin hood was right" painted in the middle in metallic silver paint.
The three smaller buttons: the first one is painted silver with a wash of watered down black paint over it to make the texture look like old metal. It says "I ❤️ AUTISM" I black letters with the heart painted red and little white lines coming from the sides of the heart. The second pin is a black band pin that said "bikini kill" in white cursive letters, with small lavender colored flowers sprinkled across the empty black space. The third one is a black pin with a metallic silver counter-clockwise spiral painted on it. All five pins have a glossy finish because I sealed them with mod podge.
End ID]

I, uhhhh, took a few days of intense work to make that for an art contest. The full piece is ~10k x 7k pixels, never worked on something that big, will seriously reconsider next time I've got such a stupid idea lmao

Do NOT know why my father made this; however, I can use it. I removed the hinges, rough-sanded most of the surfaces, and got a nice, fragrant* coat of tung oil on it. The smaller piece will become a shallow shadow box lined with a piece of an EXTREMELY old hexagon quilt I was given by an older neighbor. The larger piece

m-i-g-h-t help alleviate the clutter that build up on the night table. Maybe. So I can take "box" off the project list and add "wood painting", because my husband got this piece sanded smooth:

and he would like me to paint this little creek on there.

So I need time to sew, craft, cook, clean, take care of Hero and the pasture, the garden, tutor, paint, and uh . . hmmmm. No, nope, I can definitely do everything. This will work.
.* well I think it smells kind of nice; it's oil from nuts of the tung tree.

My wife is really getting into the care and maintenance of our Crokinole board. She likes buying accessories for the game too. What good is a hobby if you don't buy gear and accessories for it?
She has a call out to someone about making a custom, heavy duty, lined tote bag to carry the board when we go to the brewery. The person sews boat sails and covers and would use the same material for this bag.
That container of powdered shuffle board wax should last us years. That didn't stop her from buying a "special" brush and tiny dustpan to sweep up the stuff. The little scoop has a hollow handle with openings on each ends, allowing her to pour excess wax back into the large bottle.
When I questioned the necessity and cost of a little paintbrush with a Crokinole logo painted on it and a plastic scoop versus a piece of paper, she explained that "It's for recycling, Bob. You know how much you like recycling and reusing things."
In other words, Bob, shut up.

“From decay and death come life and beauty”
watercolor + ink on cold-pressed, heavy weight paper (140 lb)
This piece was inspired by an abstract portrait I saw online. As I worked in different colors, I started to see a different scene. The eyes feel like they are watching beneath the surface as the sickness of humanity is slowly recovered by organisms that can create something beautiful from the rot.
