Howwdyyy i just discovered the p5 tma au and it’s living in my head rent free

i was wondering if there was any chance i could hear more about the other thieves and what entities they might be connected to (if any)? I’m lowkey obsessed with the concept of avatars in general and what pushes a person towards becoming one. narratively rich stuff yknow

akira: yes ik it's obvious that he's hunt but i feel i should add that if i were assigning him an entity in a vacuum I'd probably pick stranger. he's hunt here because i was thinking about how a person like akira - a person who can't stand idly by and watch people be hurt, no matter how it ends up hurting him - in a universe that very much does not reward heroism

ryuji: see above, though i think most people would have no issue with assigning ryuji hunt just because

ann: slaughter, partly for purely aesthetic reasons, partly because her going after kamoshida is so much more of a "violence in response to violence" thing than the guys. if you try and tell me ann is desolation that is how you hear all my thoughts on the desolation

yusuke: so part of my gripe with a lot of tma aus is they make everyone an avatar (and then half the time don't even acknowledge that becoming an avatar almost invariably involves hurting a lot of people.) i originally had yusuke as kind of vast aligned, but not a full avatar. don't know if I'd still commit to that, it's not the deepest choice (the vast being kinda associated with art and well. me getting overly philosophical about the beauty of the infinite expanses that surround us may have contributed.)

futaba: see above. i think she'd get real fucked up by the buried tho

haru: lonely-ish, but probably the furthest from avatar-hood.

sumire: stranger, but theres other stuff going on with her because. maruki

Akira Kurusu: a Hunter and a servant of the Desolation

obviously for this au i needed him to be a Hunter. but he fits the desolation so well too... I say if robert montauk can double up with the Hunt and the Dark so can akira.

Morgana: Entity of the Hunt

he kickstarts akira's Hunt abilities! i was imagining him to be like the eldritch cat from guardians of the galaxy

Ryuji Sakamoto: The Flesh

ryuji gave me a really hard time mostly because i don't know his character as well as i might have liked. waffled between the Buried and the Desolation as well.

Ann Takamaki: The Corruption

i gave her the Corruption mostly because i don't think she's the kind of person to succumb to the lonely. what with her confidant and the conditions she lives with at home it reminded me of the more emotional side of the Corruption.

Yusuke Kitagawa: The Lonely

Okay this one i really don't know about. other deliberations included the vast, but i am really just not sure. i picked the Lonely because i can imagine yusuke feels alienated (even in some part among the thieves) because of his mannerisms and personality.

Makoto Niijima: The Dark

she is scared of the dark and i think we forget that. i like to think she becomes a servant of the Dark in a similar way to callum brodie

Futaba Sakura: The Eye

so the Lonely might be the obvious choice here. sure if you want to it works. i think the Eye fits into social anxiety much better than the Lonely does.

Haru Okumura: The Slaughter

i think she is sooo melanie king core. it might have always been in some part of her psyche but she gets attacked by the slaughter somehow and that's what really brings it to light.

Goro Akechi: The Web

the spiral being known by the name It Is Lies. that's really all i need to say.

BONUS ROUND: Sophia: The Stranger

ohh robots are more fitting for the extinction whatever. not this one. She tries so so hard to understand humanity and is terrified by the suggestion she might not be who she is. she is so Stranger core.

these aren't all i have- these are just the phantom thieves. i have a list of "monsters" that akira has hunted, if anyone would like to see that as well :3

Just notices that the holy grail boss fight takes place inside of the panopticon- like Yaldabaoth as the center of the panopticon. With a bunch of veins flowing into it- the tma au potential- holy fuck. Thinking about jonah "I am the beating heart of the institute" magnus and fucking- (I can't think of a single line from Yaldabaoth tbh but imagine something cool and relevant here) with the veins from the panopticon it manifested in keeping it immortal until cut like GRGEGGEGEG

some times I want to just shove my au versions of the same character in a room or situation together just to see how they interact.

For example the Reis (cause he's more common across my aus)

We got:

bird boy who looks like he frequents hot topic (experiment au)

The one that sometimes looks like he just walked out of a ren fair and summons spectral beings and also sometimes looks like a normal school kid (p5 au)

Genderfluid amnesiac selkie who is new to both magic and being a selkie (she doesn't feel like she was a selkie before, but she can't really remember before) (dnd pirate au)

the one who is currently flopping on the ground like a fish /j he does actually have legs sometimes he just can't breathe out of the water anymore. (Origin au) (he got merling)

the most normal looking one, if a bit windswept. (He has a kill count, spent at least 150 years just falling and nothing else just to see his friend, and will throw you into the Vast for fun) (tma au)

well hello there mystery asker yes i will tell you things about tma x p5 au

it has a plot. kind of. this plot is about 75% p5 and 25% tma (more tma towards the end)

the phantom thieves are hunting monsters? are they at risk of becoming the monsters themselves? uh it's fine don't worry about it

not all of them are hunt aligned specifically. joker and ryuji are tho

the shido conspiracy is a web thing. akechi is also a web avatar he is torn because he hates shido and everything he stands for but also he loves being a manipulative little bitch so this is very hard for him you see

the thieves know Nothing about the entities. they're just Guessing

especially pre futaba joining. futaba knows some stuff bc wakaba was researching the fears

she still doesn't know a lot

the major cases being investigated are the ones to do with the palace rulers, but the thieves have taken out more avatars than that (the equivalent of mementos requests + also the strikers monarchs being transplanted into the original game timeline because of the timeline of the au)

akira has fought avatars of. basically every entity, though he doesn't know this. is this relevant? plot important even? well :)

takemi is end-aligned. she's kind of got a similar no fear thing to georgie, except she's done more research into the entities so she has more knowledge which is why she's able to help akira with injuries such as uh. bone got turned

most of the non thief confidants are regular people, though some of them have had encounters with the supernatural

sojiro acts like he doesn't believe in any supernatural stuff but this is because he knows that poking her head too far in was probably what got wakaba killed and hes trying to protect akira + futaba from it

yaldabaoth and the web are being kind of smashed together here

please ask me more about specific things or characters i have little drabbles on half this stuff either in my brain or already written
