if there's one thing that yinuo would never do, it would be to take her youth too seriously. sure, she learned the value of a strong work ethic from her parents early on, but she's always craved adventure, freedom, and a bit of fun. it's why she left home to pursue a career in a field she honestly had no business entering a few years back. more imperatively, it's why she finds herself in a crowded club now, dancing between countless sweating bodies and singing along to the music even when she doesn't know the lyrics. there's a pleasant buzz thrumming through her veins from drinks knocked back at the bar and the thump thump thump of the bass rumbles in her chest.

alas, just because she feels like she's soaring on cloud nine from all the fun she's having on the dance floor doesn't mean her physical body doesn't still have all of it's painfully mortal demands. she runs out of breath, ready for a break, and makes her way over to the ladies' room still breathing heavily as she leans against the sink, examining how the long-lasting claims her favorite makeup brands made have any validity to them. she's sweating and uncomfortable herself at this point and it feels good to cool off for a moment, her stomach pressed into the cold countertop as she stretches towards the mirror.

yinuo is just touching up her lipgloss when another door opens and she sees what may be one of the prettiest women she's ever seen in her life. so pretty, in fact, that even without the alcohol in her system she would likely have let out the same exclamation: "oh my god, you look so good," she gushes, first at the mirror and then turning around to face the girl properly. "your makeup is so hot, and i love your hair! can i see up close? wait, you're so pretty, stop!" she can't stop laying on the compliments, each one genuine but no less flattering than the last.

nooo like reading maria janion's such comprehensive overview of vampires and what defines a vampire and how the myth changes through times and authors, as entirely expected, has contributed to my regis brainrot.

because though it's obvious how many tropes regis subverts as he literally talks about himself, it's more overwhelming when they're all summarized focused on examples from across history and the literature canon, and pretty much hitting none of them or fucking with all of them. because it's not that he just doesn't fit in within his own fantasy universe, but that he doesn't fit in within the broader canonical definition...

"my personal vision of fantasy (...) he is not the typical vampire bloodsucker, according to the dictates of the canon" ... uggghhhh sapkowski, in his witcher, by challenging all genre expectations and tropes, creates all of these characters that don't fit in anywhere, neither in their universe or in the broader canon. and thus, can only find fraternity with each other

i was just reading like 'so... so he doesn't fit in *anywhere*... 🥺'. regis in baptism of fire explaining how he doesn't conform to either vampiric expectations of vampires (socially, for his personal principles) nor of human expectations of vampires (biologically, for his literal existence). but it even goes farther when you look beyond the witcher and to the broader literary and mythological canon. in practically every understanding of a vampire he would not be recognized as one of them... and does he even want to.

I want to revisit my barebones TUGS AU .... I've been rewatching all the episodes and feel quite inspired to make content about it and continue writing my google docs archive for the cast. though it looks like I have a lot of history and politics reading to do to make this AU come to fruition XD

i keep thinking about face of the killer... like. in the otehr games the general discontent for any given subject matter is kept under a layer of irony or at the very least a detachment from it but. face of the killer's anger is so palpable and intense that it kind of took me aback. and this is like. reflected even at the very beginning with a much more crude sense of humore and bb's insecurities and general issues going from a bit of a gag to like. idk just kind of serious and sad. and then like. idk everything about it just feels like a scream both at the world and the audience to just. fucking snap. anything. and then it ends
