★ Once upon a broken heart

1. Oh my lord he's just so fine. So hot. So sarcastic. If you couldn't tell already I love him. So much.

2. Okay um can I just say I hate one thing about Evangeline is that she has this "saviour I'm too nice" complex and tbh I don't fw that. SPOILERS AHEAD.

There's this scene where they are in a vampire's lair and she sees her ex lover or wtv and she wants to save him and jacks is all THIS IS A BAD IDEA DON'T FALL FOR IT and she obv like the main character she is goes like nooooo I will like girll fuck off he's a changeling nothing good will come out of this and quite obv he wants to bite her and jacks to save her gets his aarse bitten and shes like oh no I fucked up LIKE NO SHIT SHERLOCK YOU'RE SAVIOUR COMPLEX IS SHOWING but yea thas one thing that ticked me off.

SPOILERS ENDED.

3. Okay this book got me Outta my reading slump and it's like 300 pages so it's short and I finished it in 4 hrs so like I'd recommend this if you're like in a mood for a quick read.

4. The plot twists are twisting and it's so good with like the most shocking pcs of information and the way Evangeline pieces things together and it's just like damn everything's clicking now.

5. Lastly the " little " in front of the fox gets to me but the age gap is gapping ( iykyk ). Altho I think the book should have been lengthier considering the amt of things going on so it could be more descriptive but ig it's good bcs it's going so fast?

★ The ballad of never after

1. If I was crazy over the first book , I am absolutely psychotic over this book.

2. Okay so the first book they didn't have that much chemistry but oh god the second book made up for it in so many ways.

3. This is prolly the first book in reading which has the perfect slowburn like damn

4. SPOILERS AHEAD. OKAY SO the scene where he decides that saving Eva was more important than changing the timeline to meeting his love and not getting it wrong this time ...fuckkk that played with my heart like he knew he could never get that back and he was ready to still sacrifice his needs for eva only for her to lose her memories holy shitttt

5. Okay so at the end of the first book and the whole second book I felt SO FREAKING BAD for apollo I was like noooo I can't handle this triangle but thennn Apollo was like hehe I'm gonna be a little bitch so then I am so ready for when he gets killed if he gets killed bcs I need that man's head on the dagger desperately. He pulled the most heartless shit ever when eva went thru hell and back for him.

★ The curse of true love

1. Can I just say this book did not give what it was supposed to??? Like the chemistry just got lesser???

2. Okay the dagger scene was so hot tho. And the inn scene bcs damn.

3. Okay the way Evangeline remembered wasn't like SCENEMATIC enough ykwim??? Like I was expecting so much more and that was so less???

4. Okay one I'm more interested in lala's story??? Bcs genuinely what's going on there??

5. I HATE APOLLO. If I thought I was hating him in book 2 then it was loathe in book 3 for me. He just became so sick and twisted like it made me pukish. Kinda disappointed in the book but the last few chapters made up for it ig so yea

Overall I think the book needs HEAVY editing for it to give what it's supposed to?? Like ig the book is too short for such an intense plot I feel like Stephanie could've taken so much more out of this book than she did. And a part of me was waiting for eva to eventually become badass but she always stays the naive damsel in distress girl which kinda got to me bcs I'm all for super lit characters and a few things remain a mystery in this series. Like he's immortal she's not?? What are they gonna do?? She has magic in her blood and thas it?? They couldn't milk it further to make her super badass?? Overall plot is amazing but the story should have been written better

I just found that out when I was going thru Goodreads review and now I've got the ick bcs till now I was boycotting authors who are Zionist and to find out you just read a book by a zio just makes me sick to my stomach. I really this is a lie or sumn bcs I can't find any posts on twitter tt Tumblr and ig where it says shes a zio so idk I just saw a comment that said she's a zio and thas all so idk. Zionist authors immediately make me change perspective of the book. Was gonna read caraval but not anymore.

UPDATE did my research and found out she is promoting Sarah j mass who is a very proud Zionist among other things therefore it's an ick either way. Not reading caraval

Overall id give the series a 8.5/10

today i come by with a question (if you're cool with it ofc) — what did the process of writing your nanami fic look like? were there any parts you found challenging?

hello my dear birdie!! my weekend was relaxing, i watched dune 2 (which was so good omg) then slept through most of sunday hehe 🥹 it was great!! & ofc i am cool with a question, i love answering em!! 🥹 this is such an interesting one too!!

this might get long so i'll put it under the cut!

pre-writing

the nanami fic was really intended as a birthday gift to @mididoodles (it still is)!! but bc of my mountain of wips rn, i was checking for whether it could double as one of my event pieces too—which coincidentally so happened to be one requested by midi as well!!

with that in mind, i tried to conceptualise something that fit the prompt: showing i love you in all the ways you aren't used to while being relatable to midi—which brought me to an artist!reader au.

i've always wanted to write smth separated by sections that symbolised stages of a relationship, and this felt like a good opportunity to use the different steps of making a structure.

i know nothing about sculpting or anything art related in general sdjfbjhsa so i had to do a bit of research on the different types of medium and what specific material the reader could specialise in (cos there are some that do marble, stone, etc. too!). i eventually landed on clay/ceramic because the parts corresponded more in my head. while outlining, i was watching videos of people doing ceramic sculptures from start to end!

writing

ideas come to me very fragmented during ideation, and i kind of have to fill in the in-betweens while i'm writing. i had some scenes i knew i wanted to happen, but had to get a feel of what to put as the transitions to get there. and because of that, i really leant onto the general mood/feel of the fic a lot! i had some songs to guide me, which helped a lot, but while writing it, i was overall really nervous because the pacing was really slow and i didn't know if it was engaging enough or if the reader and nanami had good chemistry.

the fic is longer than i expected it to be but also still shorter than what it would be if i didn't try to condense it. i would have added another scene or two towards the last part, extended the breakdown scene, and added a date scene if i wasn't so much concerned with the length!

i will say though, that writing it had less friction than when i write stuff for gojo or col; dialogue was tricky (tho it always is for me anyway) but in terms of me scratching my head and struggling to get the words out, i didn't have that so much here. it also helped that each step in the sculpting process served as markers for the stage of their relationship i was writing for.

i focused on parallels a lot in this fic, mirroring scenes that happened before to happen later on but in a different stage of their relationship. overall, i took my time writing it and didn't have to force myself so much to pump it out. i'm not sure if this answers your question but i hope it kind of gives a picture of how my writing process went?

challenging parts

mostly accuracy of the sculpting process. trying to come up with the descriptions for the sculptures were hard too (i'm no artist or anything). figuring out the root of reader's problem was tough as well—i had a kind of complex/deep backstory for her and i didn't get into it too much bc i felt that it would have been too heavy already. overall though, i'd say writing it didn't make me want to pull my hair out so that's a good sign 🥹

I’m big into music. And that’s an understatement. My 2024 Apple Music Replay counted up to about 100k minutes of music listened, and I will literally listen to anything and everything. Some of my music artists, at that moment, that I can come up without stressing out about it are: Eminem, Michael Jackson, SZA, Beyoncé, Kehlani, Megan Thee Stallion, Rihanna, Chappell Roan, Maggie Lindemann, Ariana Grande, PinkPantheress, Prince, Kendrick Lamar, Doja Cat, Aaliyah, Victoria Monét, FLO, Tyla… it could go on and on…

I don’t necessarily have a favorite painter, but my favorite era would have to be Pop Art. I just looked up “Saturn Devouring His Son” and omg, I love how it’s your favorite!

My favorite films would include The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Shark Tale, Malcolm X, Bridesmaids, The Help, and Wicked.

I neither have a favorite author or piece of poetry. Overall, I am hoping to try and get back into reading more as a whole. I have so many books that I have purchased, but haven’t read, and several literary classics that I never read before, but want to.

I go to Wayne State in Detroit, and previously, I went to Arizona State. I love the experience right now; it’s a lot less stressful than doing pre-med and the subject material comes to me like a breeze! I’m excited that I’m now finally pursuing this career path 🥺

My favorite season is summer—but, I’ll admit living in Michigan has taught me to embrace fall more. I hadn’t experienced fall in a moment because Arizona really doesn’t have all four seasons, it’s just dry heat (which I love tho!)

My favorite place to go to is Los Angeles. It’s like home to me. I’ve traveled there so many times now and know the city well enough that when I talk to people, they’ve mistaken me from being there. I take it as a compliment though, I’d love to be a SoCal native! Seeing all the fires right now is absolutely heartbreaking, and for anyone who lives there and comes across this post: please please stay safe and let us know if there’s anything we can do to support. I’ll also say too, that runner-up is Phoenix, and then the DMV (DC/Maryland/VA), which is my hometown.

And you better stop that, I’m serious, anon! Making me blush and stick my bottom lip out. You’re the sweetest, and know that I care and love you just as much. The amaze is reciprocated and comes right back upon you 🥺

I think you're probably aware that the Pretty Store Tokyo was renovated earlier this year. It's the only one I went to, in 2016 and 2018. I want to visit it again as well as the Osaka store, I don't know if Yokohama's is worth it

Oooo, no I didn’t know that! 😮 But I wonder if they actually expanded it? Seems hard to do cuz it has always been in that little corner…and there are so many other character stores down there as well 🤔 Well, maybe if we get the chance, I might drop by to check it out before coming back to the states. My trip has been extended by a few days and we’ll be staying in Tokyo for one night before our flight home, hehe 😁 I personally had more fun at Yokohama but I went on a weekend so there were more customers compared to Osaka’s store, which I went to on a weekday. The mall at Yokohama is bigger and newer too (I think) and people tend to hang out more at the newer places than older ones. Plus, there’s the fact that Yokohama’s store was also on the same floor as a lot of other popular anime/manga shops like Pokemon, Shounen Jump, etc (with Surugaya on the floor below it, iirc). Osaka’s was next to a One Piece store but that was it. If you have more goods shops next to each other, that probably helps cuz then people can do all their shopping in one place instead of hopping from location to location. Of course, you don’t base your trip to Japan all around just a merch store 😅 That’s just one of the pit stops. Yokohama is a very interesting city to explore as well. There’s Minato Mirai 21 where you can find Cosmo World (we rode the Cosmo Clock 21 and that was nice), the Red Brick Warehouses where you can do shopping for handmade goods, plenty of places to eat and so on (I’d say avoid Chinatown tho cuz it’s just another tourist trap :P). For me, it honestly depends on where I’m visiting when I come to Japan (and if there’s a limited event like a pop up store, the timing and location of that as well).

If it’s too far or the schedule is too busy, I won’t go out of my way just for Precure or Pokemon or whatever. But as I tend to come to the big cities more often than smaller ones, I’d try my best to drop by if I have enough time. Cuz that adds a positive experience to the overall trip, y’know? 😊

okay trying to talkl!1!1! first the art was very good and its exciting to see the improvement/changes in some parts compared to bettwr half and decicllthion. this game is made on rpgmKer (i assume) and it worked very well despite it only have one ending and i throroighly enjoyed the amount of art/cgs used! limited coloring pleasing to look at! putting a note on the ones fighting btw. it's obvious that their relationship is just . undeniably awful and the feleing of it being accepted in the end could be haunting, but i wonder what he meant by leaving Andy and Leyley at this coffin. maybe it does mean new people such as the coward he was before the guy who listened and dealt with it all submissively. then again, her insecurity being reassured at the end feels like it didn't change but eh. also also the way he straight up upgraded to killing! yayayay emo boy!!! goddd the trauma. and siblings . fated and fucked whatever whatever

okay anyway the entire dynamic with them is morbidly interesting to me and the whole "it's your fault, you chose this, i didnt make you do anything" using crying/self pity/victim playing with passive insults to jab at that self esteem makss me go insane. and we never did get an answer exactly for the "parasite" they so had, which leaves me curious. does NOT excuse any type of the starvation they had to go through though. would i beat their asses? yes. but who knows when they wouldve been able to get out.

also also ,,, the entire flashback thing as children and how they grew to adapt to each others mindsets,, even unknowingly,, (the athsma was v fucked up tho. wonder if she did indirectly die by what they did ) and the possession in his love life, just solidifying anybody else for him to rely on (the mother leaving did not help!) i know i am stating obvious here but waahh. wah. yep . girl you are a walking red flag

overall a nice experience and the reoccurring theme of unhealthy friendships in nemlei's games are nommable (i feel it was written off of experience, but it's very worth looking into how they work with each other to get some of the whole of the game/writing in my mind.... or just bullshit it and fuck around to find out either feels right i do that a lot) and nemlei really went off with the theme in this one hehe funny game

Through the door led to the next room; The Killing Floor. It was semi-molded after the house set in the last scene of the movie, where Billy Loomis and Stu Macher met their vicious end. The house was an unorchestrated maze, winding hallways and sharp turns; really trying to play up the overall unsettling theme. There were so many spots where someone could easily hide – watching you as you navigate your way through. Every so often, the lights would flicker off, the only source of light coming from the faux lightning that would strike every so often.

The light flickers out again as you walk through the house right after you see something flash by in the corner of your eye. Against your better judgment, you continue onward, chalking it up to a figment of your imagination. There were flickering lights, so of course you’d see something that wasn’t really there, right?

You pass by a few closed doors in the narrow hall and swear you see someone at the dark end of the room. It spooked you more than you anticipated as you bolted to the main room; the kitchen. The kitchen was just like it was in the movie, completed with the small island counter in the center of the room. How much did they put into this production?

There was no telling where the next door was. It might’ve been somewhere along the way to the kitchen, but you felt like this is where you had to go next. The silence in the room was deafening, the only thing that could possibly ground you was your ever beating heart filling up your ears with a buzz of excitement. You knew you should be dreading this, but adrenaline coursed through your veins.

A dark shadow whizzed around ahead of you, causing you to stop in your tracks. A distant ring of the phone pierce through your ears, sending a cold chill up your spine. There was no telling where the phone was coming from, it sounded like multiple were going off just to fill your head with its constant piercing ring.

The moment the phones silence themselves, a gloved hand slams into the wall, effectively blocking you from going anywhere.

“Not so fast, princess. I wanted to ask you what your favorite scary movie was.” A distorted voice calls out. Your eyes trailed from the dark glove up his arm to the white mask that covered his face. He takes a step closer, a cold piece of plastic touches your face, causing you to jolt away from it. “Scared of a little knife? That’s cute.”

All words escape you as you stare wide eyed at the masked assailant. Terror coated the tip of your tongue as you hastily gulp it down, letting curiosity fill its void. Ghostface tilts his head to the side and you could practically feel his eyes trailing all over you, taking every piece of you in as he has you pinned down with his knife.

“Not one of many words, huh?” The hand that was on the wall moved to push your shoulder against the hard surface, locking you further into place. “And here I was hoping I'd hear a pretty scream from those lips of yours.”

“You don’t scare me.” You whisper, looking up at the hooded figure as your newfound courage takes hold. If he wanted to play with you, then game on. “So do your worst.”

“Oh we’ve got a brave one, huh?” Before you could ponder too much on the “we” part of that sentence, his hand trails down to your exposed thigh, the cold leather smoothly gliding against your skin, sending chills down your back. “I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with you, ‘almost don’t wanna share.”

His hand roughly grips your thigh, causing you to yelp out in surprise. The knife slowly trails from its spot on your face down your neck, pivoting forwards to slot itself in between your breasts; the plastic moving in motion with the beat of your pacing heart.

Every slow, small touch sets your body on fire. Even the plastic gliding against you felt more intimate than it should’ve. The fact that he hadn’t given you any skin on skin contact or even a hint on who he was had your mind reeling. But you don’t want him to know that just yet.

“I bet a little slut like you is already wet, hm?” He asks, the distorted voice crackling under the mask. The urge to rip off the mask only grew stronger; anything to try and put this guy in his place. But at the same time, the other part of you let him keep it on. The mysterious vibe only makes everything hotter. The knife shot back up towards your neck, under your chin to prop it up towards him. “I think I asked you a question.”

“Yeah I heard. Why don’t you find out yourself? Unless you can’t handle it.” You bite back, a grin spreading across your face. The room spins as you’re twirled around to face the wall. The knife that was under your chin slipped down your back instead, pinching the exposed skin.

“Such a little brat, huh? That damn mouth of yours is gonna get you in trouble, y’know.” A low chuckle hums behind you, free of any distortion. Was the mask off? You go to turn your head but he’s quicker, keeping you facing the wall by lightly pushing down on the back of your head. You clench your thighs together at the way he was speaking to you, his voice crystal clear and so sure of itself. He dipped his head down towards your neck to put his lips right by your ear “I don’t think so, princess. You don’t have the right to see my face just yet.”

He gently kisses your ear before placing small kisses down your neck, slightly humming along to one of the spooky songs that was playing earlier. It’s a direct juxtaposition to how he’s treating you, and it only makes your head dizzier. He's paying close attention to you, keeping track of every reaction he can pull from you.

He finally finds the spot that makes you weak in your knees, and attacks at full force. He sucks a deep mark into the small crevice between your neck and your collarbone. Your fingers weave into your skirt, using it as leverage to ground yourself. A small, traitorous moan slips past your lips, fueling his power as he continues to nip at your neck. Your control was slipping and you were falling into his trap.

“Just yet? So you mean you’ll eventually cave? And here I thought you were supposed to be scary.” You barely manage to breathe out, caught up in the web of pleasure he was spinning you in.

overall thoughts: man i wasnt expecting to but towards the ending i started feeling super nostalgic... it feel like its 2014 again and that im so happy and optimistic to see where this anime will go... aw.... the ayano dream sequence was so dramatic and good, and then the daze op, and then azami storytime and the next episode preview... man.... like i was reminded of all the exuberant optimism this fandom had at the start of this anime. man. this episode finishes on such a high note that it almost makes you think the rest of the episode was just as good. well it wasnt!

firstly this is bc of poor planning and bc jin had probably initially expected to be able to fit in mr2's plot into here, but considering we dont get that, the first two minutes of the ep couldve been reworked into hibihiyo's introduction, similarly to how the novels open with a hibihiyo prologue, and the first album features Kagerou Days pretty early. i dont remember how hibiya gets stuck into the Kisaragi Attention ep so that'll be interesting to revisit...

and ofc we spent too long in shintaro's room. unnecessarily long. this ep shouldve either 1.) ended at the introduction of the hostages, or 2.) skimmed the fat and moved it at a pace where the ep ends with momo and friends peering down on shintaro, similarly to the manga:

while still having the hostage situation Actually Make Sense. bc in this anime it made zero sense. while also looking very bad. well... that was episode 1 ig

too sick to draw or do anything else which means its the perfect time to watch mca and be a little autistic nitpicky bitch about it. planning to do a post like this per episode, this one's for episode One. well episode one part one bc nothing in my life is easy and i keep forgetting theres a fucking image limit for posts 🙄

- also it took like 6 minutes for shintaro to leave the house... theres other things being done ofc, establishing shinene's dynamics, quick exposition of how ene ended up with shintaro to begin with, and spilling soda onto the computer and leaving the house. but i feel like it wouldve been better if the anime stuck to what the novels + mr1 does, where ene blares a loud fucking alarm. that quickly establishes shinene's dynamic and easily leads to a So You Must Be Wondering How I Got Here type of thing, and then knock over the soda leave the house bam easy. instead the anime really took its time with like..... idk making shinaro look ikemen. yeahhh not the best choice, especially considered how rushed the last few episodes are gonna be. ok back to watching the anime

-i think he had no problem getting the tattoo in terms of pain and was talkative w/ the artist!! depending on the tat artist he might have even been a bit TOO obnoxious but overall i think he was still and easy to work with!!

-haley had to keep reminding him to aftercare it though. alex kept forgetting and haley knows better than to leave him to his own devices. that thing would be infected/peeling/scabbing just bc i think alex would be too focused on how cool it looks
