Keir Starmer says “Read my lips: I will cut immigration.”
Let me be absolutely clear here, cutting immigration is the wrong thing to do. It is fuelled by racism, and dressed up in economic language to pretend otherwise.
The UK has an aging population and declining birth rate. If we struggle to attract foreign workers, this will impact our economy and public services. A good example of this is the NHS.
‘Bad bosses’ are not hiring internationally before they’ve exhausted every option here. It’s easy to think of a large corporate doing that but even then it’s more likely they’d outsource a whole department in its entirety to another foreign company.
Also your dad’s marketing start-up or your mum’s construction company is not going through the lengthy process of hiring people who don’t already live here.
This also contradicts the UK’s push to have as many foreign students (paying as many tuition fees) as possible. These students have lives here, and should be able to work as they choose post-graduation.
This policy is aimed at those who read the word ‘immigration’ and pop a blood vessel, and it speaks wonders to how Labour thinks about the economy - no different than the Conservative Party.

Incoming
I want you to understand something.
The incoming administration is going to spend the next four years intentionally traumatizing you. That is one of their main goals.
See, while the republican leadership is kinda racist and sexist, and transphobic, and homophobic, and... well, pretty much all the ists, really, that's not all that important to them.
What they want is money and power. They don't have any real goals past those things (gods know, they don't have a track record of legislative victories).
Now, as far as money, the fix is in. They're going to deregulate, they're going to cut the government so they can needlessly outsource to their own companies. They're going to loot the country. They've got a judiciary which will rule these are all things they can do, and anyone who tries to stop them will be stymied at every turn.
But power? Power is a fleeting thing. Power comes from the masses. And the republican voting base hates. It's what they do. They have this aggression which they want to direct at someone. They're cruel people who like seeing others hurting. If they're deprived of a target, they will create one.
And that means the incoming administration needs to be constantly putting on a show of hurting people. they won't be "fixing" the immigration "problem", but they will definitely be rounding up brown people and putting them in camps. Not because that's useful, effective, or legal - but because it hurts the brown people and it makes liberals upset. They will stop if we stop caring (and then they'll move on to something else that we do care about).
It's like when the Taliban blew up those statues. The point was that it upset and outraged people, and no one could stop them.
What will they do in four years? I can't say for sure. Tear down beloved monuments? Defund critical services? Slap Trump's name on everything? If it upsets you and me, it's on the table. That's the way they work.
They're not going to be effective at the big stuff. But that's not their goal. Their goal is going to be to make as many people hurt and scared and upset as possible. and Every Single Time they will pretend to be shocked that anyone blames them for it, all while drinking it in.

I am Mexican, and seeing how there are Americans who genuinely think we are criminals has had a great impact on me.
It was my mistake because assuming that things are better just because of "positive representation" in media (which also fails bc most of Latin characters are representations of second-generation Latinos who have never lived in their parents' country of origin) is not very intellectual when it comes to analyzing real problems.
But I also know that Twitter is not a reliable source for quantifying social noise (a term used a lot around here) on a scale that matters.
My question is, and I know this is a sensitive topic, how did your neighborhood/community take the news about the increase in deportations of Latinos? What do you guys think about us?
I also understand that this is not Trump's thing and that Obama (as well as other presidents) have been caging immigrants for several years now. But let’s be real, he is the one who has the most direct hate speech towards anyone who is not upper class WASP (pig)
And I'm not going to be a saint either, the authorities in Mexico treat South Americans the same or worse.
Obviously all of us Latinos are defensive on social networks (I had planned to send this question without the anon enabled but I have already received hate just for the 🇲🇽 in my bio). But I am curious to know what an American has to say in her own space about this difficult situation for many of my people (family included).
It was my mistake because assuming that things are better just because of "positive representation" in media (which also fails bc most of Latin characters are representations of second-generation Latinos who have never lived in their parents' country of origin) is not very intellectual when it comes to analyzing real problems.
this is a mistake that's prevalent across the entire left, currently. so much of the progressive movement has become purely performative and exhibitionist. this was actually a conversation that i had with @godtier the other night and have since expanded it to the other people in my life.
the problem with the progressive movement's idea of inclusivity is that they have to see it. but because they have such a narrow worldview to begin with, they deem anything that they, personally, can't see as "insufficient" and then label things that don't matter as "truly progressive."
you can see this in, say, bernie sanders's statement that the democratic party has abandoned the working class. no, actually. they haven't. president biden passed the infrastructure and jobs act, which strengthened unions and will result in millions of new blue-collar jobs. he was the first president to stand on the picket line with striking workers. he instated new regulations on corporations concerning wage theft, safety standards, wrongful terminations, and union busting activity. he increased wage standards for independent contractors. he forced corporations to adopt joint-employer rules, which prevent outsourcing and increase working conditions. he increased civil service protections and forced employers to inform workers of their rights.
but here's the problem.
most of the "progressive left" aren't actually working class. they're middle class. so they don't actually see what democrats did just in the past four years to help the working class -- because they're not in it. they just think they are. what they actually are are people who make enough money to live a pretty standard life if they wanted to, but they spend outside of their means and then cry that they don't make enough money to live. they cry about being paycheck-to-paycheck when they've never even bothered to write out a monthly budget for themselves in the first place.
so they assume that biden and the democrats did nothing. and then that becomes the message.
it's the same thing with social issues. everything is an optics game for them -- because they don't actually feel the repercussions of oppression. not on the level they think they do. your statement of latino representation is the perfect example. they all celebrate the optics of having a non-descript latino character in media and think it's a win for progressivism, when the reality is that that generic blank-slate character has done absolutely nothing to help the people that it's supposed to represent, because it doesn't actually represent anyone. but they don't know that because they're all primarily white.
the progressive left has the optics of being diverse, but they're not really. "amplify BIPOC voices" they say -- but only the ones that echo the sentiments that they approve of. they use BIPOC people as symbols and mouthpieces in order to further their own agenda. they make the mistake that skin color alone is what makes them diverse -- but it's not. diversity is about a difference of background, difference of circumstance, difference of perspective. but leftists only give deference to people who already share their perspectives because those people, regardless of their skin color, have enough of a similar background and circumstance to them that they've all ended up exactly on the same page. and that's not diversity. that's performance.
i know that that's not what your message was primarily about, so i'm sorry for the wall of text, but i think it's an important thing to discuss. even if you're not american, this kind of american attitude is what's reflected on internet spaces, so this is what you're going to see.
My question is, and I know this is a sensitive topic, how did your neighborhood/community take the news about the increase in deportations of Latinos? What do you guys think about us?
so, i live in las vegas. vegas has almost as many latinos as it does white people. so i'm going to have a very skewed take on this question, because there's so many of you guys here. you should maybe try asking @godtier, because she lives in a city that has a far, far smaller latino population.
to give you the actual breakdown, this is from the most recent census data for vegas:
white - 40% latino - 34% black - 12% asian - 7% everyone else - 7%
so, i mean. obviously, everyone here is disgusted and terrified. but vegas is not reflective of the US as a whole.
i can tell you that one of my coworkers is a mexican immigrant who's been fully naturalized as a citizen, and another one of my coworkers is an immigrant from the philippines who's here on a visa. and i walked into the break room in the middle of a conversation that went:
mexican coworker: do you have a passport? filipino coworker: yeah. MC: an american one? FC: no, not an american one. i'm not a citizen. MC: you're not a citizen yet?? FC: no. i want an american passport, but they said i can't have one because it's only for citizens. i'm getting a nervous because -- MC: they're going to kick you out of the country. FC: i know! i know. i'm really scared. they're not going to care that i'm from the philippines. they're going to look at me and think mexican -- no offense. MC: and then how will you get back in? i carry my passport everywhere so that, even if they kick me out, i can come back in. they might not let you do that with a filipino passport. FC: i don't know... my dad is still in the philippines, so i guess i'd just call him.
ever since overhearing that conversation, i've also started walking around with my passport on me at all times. i'm not latino, but apparently the specific blend of ethnicities that came from my parents (100% greek on my mom's side, and mostly eastern european on my dad's side) has resulted in giving me facial features that are constantly mistaken as latino. when i worked overnight security at an apartment building for the elderly and disabled, a (mexican from mexico) home health aide came up to me one morning and just started speaking to me in spanish. i told her that i don't speak that, and she said back "you don't speak spanish? any spanish?" and, when i said no, she said, "but you're mexican, right?" and when i said no again and told her that i was greek, she was absolutely shocked and told me that i looked identical to her niece who still lives in mexico. she even pulled up a picture on her phone for me -- and she was right. i look just like her mexican niece.
so now i carry my passport on me at all times, no matter where i'm going.
i can also tell you that i have another coworker who is a fully naturalized citizen who was born in guatemala but was adopted by white american parents and is 100% american -- and she has an entire folder filled with documents and instructions for her parents, provided with help from a lawyer, in case ICE decides to deport her.
I also understand that this is not Trump's thing and that Obama (as well as other presidents) have been caging immigrants for several years now.
this is different. this is much different.
trump is looking at putting concentration camps inside of military bases.
this is advanced-level fucked up and horrifying in a way that i can't even begin to quantify. as a grandchild of jews who fled the holocaust, i've been forced to contend with the fact that generational trauma does, indeed, exist -- and i have it.
i'm so mad at "progressives" for prioritizing gaza and allowing this to happen by withholding their vote from kamala harris. i'll never get over it. and it's because of what i said earlier -- they constantly see the plight of the palestinians all over their social media. but none of those fuck-ass bitch fuck white lefty pussies have two fucks to give about the latino population right here in the US, because their white, sheltered asses never see them.
it's all just a fucking game to the people who never have to worry about this, in the end.

Donald Trump vs. Kamala Harris: What It Means For IT Companies in India
When it comes to U.S. politics, Indian IT companies pay close attention, especially in races with heavyweights like former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. Each candidate’s policies can have ripple effects, impacting everything from visa policies to foreign direct investment and trade partnerships. For India’s booming IT sector, this rivalry could shape the future in major ways, particularly around outsourcing, talent mobility, and international tech collaborations. Here’s what each candidate brings to the table and what it could mean for the Indian IT industry.
Tumblr media
Donald Trump’s Policies and Their Potential Impact
Trump’s “America First” agenda in his previous term brought significant shifts to immigration and outsourcing policies. His administration’s stance leaned toward prioritizing American jobs and reducing dependency on foreign workers, which affected the H-1B visa system, a crucial pathway for many skilled Indian IT professionals to work in the United States.
Key Areas to Watch if Trump Returns to Power
H-1B Visa Reform: Under Trump, the H-1B visa process became more stringent, with increased scrutiny on applications and tightened eligibility criteria. The approach aimed to reduce the number of visas granted, thus limiting the talent flow from India to the U.S. If Trump were to return, he might push for more reforms that could make it harder for Indian IT companies to place skilled workers in the U.S. for long-term assignments.
Outsourcing Policies: Trump’s stance on outsourcing often pointed toward creating incentives for American companies to move jobs back to the U.S. Although a complete shutdown of outsourcing is unlikely, a renewed Trump presidency might include policies that create hurdles or add costs to IT companies operating in India to reduce offshoring.
Taxation and Trade Barriers: Trump previously aimed to negotiate trade deals that reduced the U.S. trade deficit. Indian IT firms could face higher tariffs or restrictions if they want to establish more U.S. partnerships or expand operations on American soil.
Potential Upside: Some experts argue that Trump’s pro-business mindset and regulatory reforms, such as tax cuts, could indirectly benefit Indian IT companies if they lead to economic growth. With more American firms thriving, there may still be demand for Indian IT services, albeit in a more restrictive environment.
Kamala Harris’s Approach and Potential Influence
As the daughter of Indian immigrants, Kamala Harris’s connection to India is often highlighted. Her political stance, generally aligned with Democratic ideals, has favored immigrant rights, inclusivity, and technological advancement. Harris’s policies could potentially be more favorable for Indian IT companies, especially regarding immigration and tech collaborations.
Key Areas to Watch if Harris Gains More Influence
Visa and Immigration Reform: Harris has shown consistent support for immigration reform that would protect skilled foreign workers, including those from India. Her stance could bring improvements to the H-1B program, possibly increasing quotas or reducing the administrative burden on Indian IT professionals. This would be a welcome shift, making it easier for Indian firms to deploy talent in the U.S.
Tech Collaborations and Bilateral Ties: Given Harris’s strong ties to India, she could prioritize policies that foster U.S.-India tech partnerships. This could mean better collaboration on AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing initiatives, offering Indian IT companies more opportunities to work alongside American firms on high-stakes projects.
Outsourcing Flexibility: Unlike Trump, Harris is less likely to advocate for aggressive curbs on outsourcing. While some regulations may still push companies to consider American workers first, it’s likely that Harris’s approach would be more balanced and encourage mutual growth, allowing Indian IT firms to continue serving U.S. clients without significant restrictions.
STEM Education and Training Initiatives: Harris may also introduce policies aimed at training and upskilling the American workforce. However, this approach could complement the Indian IT industry rather than limit it, as it could create avenues for partnerships in training programs or tech-driven education solutions.
Potential Upside: A Harris-led approach may result in more collaborative policies, boosting IT companies’ confidence in expanding U.S. operations. By maintaining a balanced approach to immigration and tech regulations, she could make it easier for Indian firms to both work in the U.S. and bring American investments back to India.
What This Means for Indian IT Companies
Indian IT companies like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro rely heavily on their U.S. clientele, and visa restrictions can significantly impact how they operate. Here’s a summary of what IT firms should expect:
Talent Mobility: A Trump-led administration might restrict it, while Harris would likely enhance it.
Outsourcing Stability: Trump could discourage offshoring, whereas Harris might adopt a more relaxed stance.
Trade Relations: Trump’s trade policies could become more protectionist, while Harris might lean toward fostering partnerships.
Adaptations and Strategic Moves for Indian IT Firms
Regardless of who wins, Indian IT companies should prepare by adopting a flexible approach:
Diversifying Talent Locations: With potential visa issues on the horizon, companies can consider moving talent to other locations, such as Canada or even remote setups within India, to serve U.S. clients.
Increasing Local Hiring in the U.S.: To align with possible hiring preferences, Indian firms may continue to hire more U.S.-based talent and offer training to local employees.
Emphasizing Partnerships and Joint Ventures: Both political paths present opportunities for tech collaborations. Indian firms could look for joint ventures with U.S. companies, fostering a partnership approach that aligns with potential regulations.
Final Thoughts
The outcome of a Trump vs. Harris contest would have unique implications for the Indian IT industry. Trump’s focus on reducing dependency on foreign talent and protecting U.S. jobs could mean tighter visa regulations and fewer opportunities for Indian workers in the U.S. Harris, on the other hand, could be a gateway to a more balanced, globally-minded U.S. policy that emphasizes collaboration and growth.
Regardless of the outcome, Indian IT firms have shown resilience and adaptability, adjusting to regulatory changes while remaining global leaders in IT services.

Bridging East and West: Recruitment Agencies in Bulgaria and the Asian Workforce
Bulgaria, a Balkan gem with a rich history and burgeoning economy, has emerged as an attractive destination for businesses seeking to expand their operations. With its strategic location, skilled workforce, and favorable business climate, the country has become a hub for various industries. A key player in facilitating this growth is the recruitment agency sector, especially in the context of connecting Asian workers with Bulgarian employers.
The Bulgarian Job Market: A Growing Demand
Bulgaria's economy has witnessed steady growth in recent years, driven by sectors like IT, outsourcing, manufacturing, and tourism. This expansion has created a demand for skilled professionals that often exceeds the local talent pool. To bridge this gap, Bulgarian recruitment agencies have become essential in sourcing qualified candidates both domestically and internationally.
Tumblr media
The Rise of Asian Workers in Bulgaria
Asian workers, particularly from countries like India, the Philippines, and China, have increasingly become a valuable asset to Bulgarian companies. Their strong work ethic, technical expertise, and language skills make them attractive candidates for various roles.
IT and Software Development: The IT sector in Bulgaria is booming, and Asian professionals are highly sought after for their programming and software development skills.
Business Process Outsourcing (BPO): The country's growing BPO industry benefits from the language proficiency and customer service orientation of Asian workers.
Manufacturing and Engineering: Asian workers, especially from engineering backgrounds, are contributing to Bulgaria's manufacturing sector.
Healthcare: The demand for healthcare professionals is on the rise in Bulgaria, and Asian nurses and doctors are filling the gap.
The Role of Recruitment Agencies
Recruitment agencies in Bulgaria play a pivotal role in connecting Asian workers with Bulgarian employers. They offer a range of services, including:
Talent Sourcing: Identifying qualified candidates from Asia based on specific job requirements.
Recruitment Process Management: Handling the entire recruitment process, from initial screening to onboarding.
Visa and Work Permit Assistance: Guiding both employers and employees through the immigration process.
Cultural Integration Support: Providing support to Asian workers in adapting to Bulgarian culture and work environment.
Challenges and Opportunities
While the partnership between Bulgarian recruitment agencies and Asian workers holds immense potential, several challenges need to be addressed:
Language Barriers: Effective communication is crucial, and language training programs can be beneficial for both employers and employees.
Cultural Differences: Understanding and respecting cultural nuances is essential for successful integration.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Staying updated with immigration and labor laws is vital to avoid legal issues.
Talent Retention: Retaining skilled Asian workers requires competitive compensation packages and opportunities for career growth.
Despite these challenges, the collaboration between Bulgarian recruitment agencies and Asian workers presents a unique opportunity for both parties. By leveraging their strengths and addressing the challenges, they can contribute to the continued growth and development of Bulgaria's economy.
Tips for Asian Workers Seeking Jobs in Bulgaria
Research the Bulgarian Job Market: Understand the industries and roles in demand.
Learn Bulgarian or English: Proficiency in these languages will significantly enhance your job prospects.
Network with Professionals: Building connections in Bulgaria can open doors to job opportunities.
Partner with a Reputable Recruitment Agency: A reliable agency can guide you through the job search process.
Be Prepared for Cultural Differences: Embrace the Bulgarian culture and be open to new experiences.
Conclusion
The alliance between recruitment agencies in Bulgaria and Asian workers is a dynamic partnership that is reshaping the country's labor market. By effectively addressing challenges and capitalizing on opportunities, this collaboration can drive economic growth, foster cultural exchange, and create a win-win situation for both parties. As Bulgaria continues to evolve as a business destination, the role of recruitment agencies in connecting Asian talent with Bulgarian employers will become even more critical.

My Political Philosophy
Society
For a functional Republic, we need the people to know the truth.
If the people are educated on the world, bad actors cannot abuse popular lack of knowledge to advertise extremist policy.
I want MASSIVE investments in public education and media, and a COMPLETE restructuring of the education system.
Stop forcing children, who need to go out and explore the world to mature, to slave away eight hours of five weekdays learning things they aren't interested in.
Educate children on natural sciences and sociopolitics in a more friendly, decentralized atmosphere which isn't a relic of the 1800s.
Do not stop education at age eighteen and expect the currently taught knowledge to serve the people for decades to come.
Make continually updated, digitalized education a constantly available commodity for all citizens, free of charge.
All cititens MUST be free and have the same rights.
Via better education on the fundamental realities of humanity, such reforms will also be met with less opposition from regressives who believe groups such as the LGBTQ+ community to be evil.
TOTAL Secularism!
If you want to dedicate your life to spreading the idea that the world exists on a giant's ballsack, that's fine, but pay for it yourself.
Economy and Logistics
IF a Socialist Utopia is possible, I want it.
But it must be achieved through reform, not through revolution.
Until that day, I will continue to work toward it as a Liberal.
For freedom, peace and prosperity, one needs a strong economy, and for that, one needs Industrialization 3.0.
I want a nationalist approach to industry;
Stop outsourcing the people's work for profit. Use modern technology to produce goods and services in the country, and have that technology designed, maintained and improved by an educated populace which has emerged from the fusion of proletariat and academia.
A founding pillar of a strong economy is a good logistics network.
It is amazing how many problems can be solved by trains if they are built and maintained properly.
Expand and modernize the railway network and BAN CARS FROM CITIES!
You'll be amazed by how much space is freed up if we do that. All those parking spots and roads, gone in favor of freely navigable public spaces, as well as living and working spaces. We can put trees everywhere in the city centers to improve air quality!
We can make reliable, far-reaching public transportation that is free for citizens, based on trains, as well as drones for delivery.
Again, this will be powered by our educated citizens and modern technology.
Immigration
Uproot the problem.
Immigration is not the problem, but a symptom of a far more deeply rooted problem.
Do you believe people WANT to travel across half the world in a dangerous refugee boat??
No, but they have no other choice because the conditions in their home countries are unworthy of humans!
We need an aggressively moralist foreign policy that uses a part of our economic product to fund massive, systemic improvements and reforms in the nations where the most migrants come from, which happen to be the poorest, most crisis-plagued ones.
Don't just deliver medicine and bottled water to a desert village. Deliver tools and teach the people how to make medicine and build water wells.
This is an investment into the future. This creates positive relationships between our country and the countries we help grow, meaning mutually beneficial ties with those countries when they've grown to stand on their own feet. Then, their people also won't need to flee anymore.
Military and Foreign Policy
Recent developments have shown that a unilateral desire for peace is not enough to assure it.
Insane imperialists and self-righteous terrorists, corrupting words of peace, justice and goodness to justify their selfish aggression, will wage war on whomever they think they can, regardless of if the victim has any desire for war.
I do not desire war.
But to prevent us from having war unleashed upon us, we need to make it clear to the aforementioned that they do not want war with us, due to the violent consequences we would unleash. For that, and to stop those imperialists and terrorists who, in service of their selfish motives, counter our foreign policy of helping the less privileged nations, we need a strong military which is powered by educated decision-makers and soldiers who are also motivated by our country's values, to use cutting-edge, industrially homemade technology and weapons in order to defend our people and enforce our help for others against those who wish to destroy both.
As mentioned before, the allies we make via our investment in the poorest nations will definetly help us in that regard.
Environment and Energy
It ties back into the education problem.
Since the 1950s, nuclear power has provided a clean, safe means of producing absurd amounts of energy, but systemic propaganda by the fossil fuel industry, the same people who greenwash their agenda with insincere promises about a transition to renewable energies, of which they know those cannot cover the energy demands on their own, has made people fear nuclear energy like the devil.
All the problems about reactor meltdowns, radiation safety and waste products have already been solved and have generally been overstated by the fossil fuel lobby. People have also taken to fearing all forms of nuclear energy due to the prospect of annihilation via its weaponized form, nuclear weapons.
But a form of energy that is so powerful that it can destroy the world when weaponized, can also be used by good people to save the world. Evil people will use all means at their disposal anyway. It's the good people who need to stop limiting themselves.
Factually, atomic energy is an extremely complex topic that requires immense education to be understood.
Hence it being so easy for the fossil fuel lobby to fearmonger against it, due to the popular lack of knowledge about it.
As said before, we need more public media and education, which would also alleviate the people's fears of a form of energy which, due to its power, we are OBLIGATED to use for good.
With clean, reliable energy that can supply even an exponentially growing people and economy, we can also use more products of advanced technology and science to fix environmental damages and preserve nature, so that we can exist in harmony with it.

Private Sector Good, Public Sector Bad? (2)
This is the second part of a look at former public services and utilities in Britain that have been privatised in the name of neoliberal economics and the mistaken belief that private enterprise is ALWAYS more efficient than publicly  run bodies.
Prisons
The first privately run prison in the UK was opened in 1992 under a Conservative government and private sector involvement in Britain’s penal system has grown steadily ever since. The UK is now second only to the USA in the number of privately run prisons.
Premier Custodial Group was formed in 1992 and in 2005 was the largest private company running UK prisons. It was a joint venture between the American private prison operator Wackenhut Corrections Corporation and the British firm Serco PLC. From a turnover of £7.52 million in 1994 it had increased its revenues to £127.4m, with pre-tax profits of nearly £10m, paying out a £2m dividend to shareholders. In 2002 Wackenhut was taken over by Group 4 Falck.
In 2003 Serco gained control of Premier, estimating that Premier's
“income over the life of its existing contracts for five prisons, one secure training centre, two immigration facilities and court escort custody and electronic monitoring services was £2bn” (Cited in Prison Reform Trust: Private Punishment :Who Profits; January 2005)
Group 4 Securicor (G4S) was a company created in 2004 when Group 4 acquired Securicor. Since these takeovers these companies have gone from strength to strength, with Serco, G4S, and GEO Group branching into immigration and other services.
In 2018, the Guardian reported that the Home Office paid these companies:
“hundreds of millions of pounds to run the UK’s immigration removal centres, but no one knows for certain just how profitable the industry is…Commercial confidentiality agreements mean the Home Office and outsourcing companies are not obliged to publish detailed financial information about immigration detention centres in the UK.” (Guardian: 10/10/22)
In 2022, one of these companies, Sodexo was awarded a £264 million UK prison contract over a ten year period. On receiving the contract, Paul Anstey, CEO, Government, Sodexo UK & Ireland stated:
“Our vision is to provide a secure and safe environment which reduces re-offending through education, builds new skills and offers respect, equality and inclusion.” (Facilities Management Magazine: 16/08/22)
If only that were true! As long ago as 2013 Sodexo Justice Services  was facing charges of prisoner torture and degradation.
'Cruel, inhumane and degrading': Female prisoner kept segregated in 'squalid' cell for five years.”  (Independent: 21/08/2013)
In 2016 a video of naked Prisoners pretending to be dogs led to an investigation into violence and humiliation of prisoners by Sodexo. In September 2017, a female prisoner died under Sodexo care. An inquest into her death concluded:
“serious failures at Sodexo run HMP Peterborough contributed to death of Annabella Landsberg”  (Inquest: 04/04/2019)
Another prison run by Sodexo was accused of residing over a “spice” epidemic, which led to the death of a male prisoner. (Manchester Evening News) In 2018 Sodexo was again accused of neglect and systematic failures resulting in the death of yet another inmate. In 2019, a different prison run by Sodexo was accused of “systemic breaches of inmate human rights”.
In February of this year 20 prison staff resigned from the Sodexo run HMP Lowdham Grange, which was deemed so unsafe the government was forced to take it over.
The appalling levels of service cited above are not restricted to Sodexo alone. In her book “Profiting from their misery: Britain’s private prisons”, Hatty Nestor reveals that:
“outsourcing companies like G4S encourage prisoners to work 40-hour weeks, all they are paid (is)  as little as £2 an hour. Such practices amount to slave labour. Companies are profiting from prison labour, paying fewer well-trained, low staff wages. In private prisons, staff are paid 23% less than public prisons, and they also outsource security, healthcare and cheap food. Private prisons aim for a profit margin of 8-10%, which is met by cutting costs and the increased exploitation of staff and inmates.”
Given that privately run prisons pay their staff less, are more overcrowded, and employ fewer prison officers you would think they would at least be more cost effective yet this isn’t the case. The governments own figures for 2022/23 reveal that it cost £32,762 per prisoner, per year in publicly run prisons, while the cost for privately run prisons was £33,628 per prisoner. (Ministry of Justice: “Costs per place and cost per prisoner by individual prison.", 21/0324)
What is more, the government gives 23% of its allocated budget to private companies despite the fact their prisons only house 15% of the total prison population. It seems that whichever way you measure private prison success (apart form profits for its shareholders) private prisons do far worse than those still in the public sector.

Parliament opens for a new four-year term on Thursday, and the media is covering the comings and goings, while also welcoming newcomers to the legislature.
In one story Ilta-Sanomat asks (siirryt toiseen palveluun) two first-term MPs what they make of the pay and perks on offer in their new job. Pinja Perholehto (SDP) and Joakim Vigelius (Finns) were both a little surprised at the taxpayer's generosity.
They both criticised the decision to raise MPs' pay at the start of this parliamentary term from 6,614 euros to 7,137 euros. That's for those who have served less than twelve years — longer-serving legislators will get 7,494 euros a month.
Perholehto waited tables before she was elected to parliament, and says she's become used to an income of less than 2,000 euros. As such she thinks this raise was unnecessary. Vigelius too says that parliament would still find people to serve even with a smaller compensation.
Expenses are another issue. Each month MPs get between 986.81 euros and 1809.15 euros, depending on the location of their official residence, and the money is tax-free.
Perholehto finds that a little strange, especially for MPs who live close to Helsinki. In addition MPs have broad rights to compensation for transport used, and get travel cards for use in the Helsinki region.
Finns Party x National Coalition
Iltalehti looks ahead (siirryt toiseen palveluun) to the formation of the next government, which is the biggest task for National Coalition leader Petteri Orpo right now.
The paper claims that the NCP's first preference is for a right-wing government in coalition with the Finns Party, the Christian Democrats and the Swedish People's Party (SPP).
That would give the government a slim majority, with just 109 seats in the 200-member parliament. As that includes the non-voting Speaker of Parliament, there is little room for manoeuvre.
The parties have different views on work-based immigration, with the Finns Party strongly opposed and the NCP and SPP both looking to increase numbers.
European policy is another issue that could derail talks, with the NCP and SPP strongly pro-EU and the Finns Party looking to leave the union in the long run.
IL says that the alternative is a Blue-red government including the NCP, the SDP, the Greens and the Swedish People's Party, but that there has been little contact with the Social Democrats to explore that option.
Finnair's Bulgarian customer service
Helsingin Sanomat reports (siirryt toiseen palveluun) on Finnair's cost-cutting drive, which has seen their online chat services concentrated at a service centre in Bulgaria.
None of the staff there speak Finnish, and they rely entirely on machine translation. The service has been based at the Bulgarian service point since January, and Finnair says there have been a few translation mistakes but overall they are satisfied with the service.
The company points out that they still offer Finnish-language assistance by phone, although neither Finnair nor HS note the cost of actually calling the company compared to using an online chat service.
The company believes that artificial intelligence will rapidly improve the service, and reduce the number of mistranslations.

this post about immigration and human rights abuse made me think about something i have been going back and forth about which is, "border" countries often have little to no responsability over the situation that caused immigration in the first place, and they often struggle with resources and protection to the people already there. adding a lot of people, often from a place with different culture, language and costumes is not easy at the best of times already
greece had a huge migrant crisis, in which there was the tragic situation where a few boats drowned a few years ago. is greece responsible for the instability in syria or afeghanistan? brazil has dealt with haitian immigration in the past after the natural disasters in haiti, and is currently dealing with over 5 million venezuelans immigrants. did brazil benefit from imperialism in those countries?
the 3rd world countries that stand on the way to 1st world countries act as containment zone for unwanted immigration. none of the financial benefits of imperialism served with left immigration waves - something that requires so much resources, and im not only talking about money. like op described so well, the first world nations benefit from this exploitative dynamic. there's a reason the nordic countries are so clean and cute. the money that funds their social democracy comes from somewhere else. these first world nations are hiding behind other countries, often poorer and underveloped. they can outsource the bulk of the labor of handling immigration to someone else, while providing little to no support. their actions affect the immigrants and the citizens of the place being emigrated to. it completly fucks over public services, access to healthcare, education, transportation, welfare, wages drop etc...
and then the well known pattern starts to happen: local citizens get angry at immigrants, because things did get worse after immigration, be it for an incompetent local goverment and/or lack of funds/structure. and then when you talk about it, how the quality of services has sky rocketed while quality of life has dropped, you're either met with alt right freaks blaming the immigrants or with people who completely refuse to admit there even is a problem, and act like you perceiving the problem is the problem
not a single person or entity opens up the wound and blames the right actors. blame gets shifted around, pinned on different groups, but nobody stops and looks and says: the fuckers responsible for it are sitting in luxury in their paradises while we are getting fucked over here. they cant even do the bare minimum and send in money and resources to help. other poor countries are expected to simply absorb the gigantic cost that comes with dealing humanely with immigration costs, while the powerful nations that caused this watch it from very far, with almost no impact to their own nation

This looks like a very thorny problem to solve without either completely dismantling states or amalgamating the world into one state. (Which of course why everyone that wants to keep using national borders to enable exploitation is against 'one world order' even if they think they'd still be in charge, and why the superpowers set up vassal states that will enable their exploitation instead of annexing territory directly)
Free movement regardless of borders would help. If "immigration policy" was removed and there were no restrictions on crossing borders, one wing of exploitation crumbles. Currently migrant workers are easier to exploit because immigration law deliberately makes it difficult for them to enter the country legally and receive the protections they are due under the law. And of course it's always the exploited workers who are punished for "entering the country illegally" instead of the corporations employing them.
Allowing true freedom of movement would put an end to that. There would no longer be a class of people who cannot take advantage of the laws that ostensibly protect all workers simply because they cannot afford to interact with the law at all.
But as noted in the OP, that's only one part of the problem. Outsourcing labour to "cheaper" countries still allows wealthy countries to exploit the people living there. And there's still the issue of eg the protections and services available to people varying depending on jurisdiction. Plus that fact that not everyone wants to or can afford to just up and leave their home.
I think it's very revealing that Apartheid South Africa's great project, their ultimate solution to the problems of Apartheid, was the Bantustan Policy. Because by giving the black population their own "Independent Homelands", the South African settlers were trying to establish the same relationship with Africans that the USA has with Latin America and Western Europe has with North Africa and West Asia. It was a plan to eliminate the problems of second class citizenship by removing their citizenship altogether, turning "black" labour into "migrant" labour.
Like South Africa already used an extensive amount of actual migrant labour from neighbouring colonies and nations, but the bedrock of South Africa's economy was cheap heavily exploited local labour; the maintenance of this relationship was the primary reason Apartheid as a system even emerged in the first place. As Apartheid began to crack apart from both internal and external pressure, attempts were made to change the system while still maintaining the fundamental basis of exploitation. And migrant workers from impoverished colonised nations can be every bit as exploitable, but without all the unpleasant international backlash. So they attempted to shift the policy of separation within a nation to separation between nations. It wasn't enough to save open White supremacy in South Africa, but it's still working very well for the nations who inspired it
Apartheid and Segregation are tremendous evils in the eyes of all but the most reactionary Liberals, but "Border Control" is perfectly acceptable. All the same atrocities could be committed, all the same wealth stolen from exploited lands and exploited peoples, but in a much more internationally "normal" manner. As far as most Liberals are concerned "Citizens" have rights that should never be violated but "Foreigners" are lucky to get privileges, even when the only difference between the two are a few lines they drew onto a map. Oppression is good as long as its sufficiently externalised, happening in the places and to the people that you're not meant to care about. The same systems behind Apartheid are still very much alive all over the world, just under more "acceptable" pretenses. A simple change of aesthetic is all your average liberal needs to be comfortable

WHY SHOULD YOU ENTRUST PROFESSIONAL IT STAFFING PROCESS?
Tumblr media
Recruiting the right candidate that perfectly fits your job role is crucial to success in today’s competitive market. However, finding that right man becomes tedious and time-consuming when recruiters dive into the ocean of the job market. Not only you will be flooded with unqualified resumes, but even the most promising candidate might leave you hanging. Interestingly, that's where the concept of staffing service comes into play. In today’s competitive industry structure, staffing services have become the backbone of the job market. Acting as a middle agent, professional staffing agencies bridge prospective enterprises with a talented workforce. This blog unfolds some serious points that explain why you should outsource the IT staffing process to staffing agencies.

Professional IT staffing agencies come with a lot more benefits in long-term partnerships. Know them all in the following.
Access To Top Talents Through Remote & International Staffing
Remote and international staffing involves supplying skilled IT professionals from different parts of the world. In this staffing model, professional staffing agencies gather the best talents from around the globe and make them available to you regardless of their location.
Remote staffing motors in a system where you get easy and immediate access to employee resources working from their initial location. The professional IT staffing process connecting you with remote employees ensures seamless communicative collaboration regardless of distance. Meanwhile, in international hiring professionals directly provide you with international talent providing extensive immigration support.
Easy Workload Optimization In Your Production
When workload rises while you have much less workforce to support, workflow management collapses creating an emergency for your organization. In such cases, delaying immediate hiring can make the situation worse. However, with professional IT staffing services, you can effortlessly restore balance in your production and operate a smooth business. While you keep searching for the right candidate out of the maze, staffing companies will supply you with skilled candidates with prior experience and hands-on industry knowledge by that time.
Professional Staffing Services Are Industry Expert
One big benefit of IT staffing process is the great industry knowledge gained by working with an IT recruiting company. These companies engage professionals with technical expertise as well as industry trends and best practice knowledge.
This knowledge is essential as it ensures that the persons in charge of your initiatives will be able to foresee issues, provide workable answers, and produce amazing results. These experts' years of experience help them to carry out tasks more precisely and with less errors.
Professionals Are Expert In Risk Management
Every endeavor calls for control of risk. Employing an IT staffing process may assist in lowering the risks associated with project implementation and hiring. Staffing companies promise that, via extensive background checks on every candidate, you get credible employees.
Skilled IT experts will help you reduce problems and keep your project on track. These pros can spot and solve problems before they get worse. This active risk control method will improve the reliability and flexibility of your processes.
No Time Wasted, Just A Fast Launch Time
Time-to-market is an important factor for many IT projects. Using IT staffing options can help you build a skilled team faster and start your project sooner. These companies can quickly find skilled people for you, so you can start working right away. This fast approach helps you meet project goals and gives you an advantage in the market by letting you offer goods and services faster.

The final result, which either meets or beyond consumer expectations as well as industry experts, highlights the need for quality. Using the abilities of exceptional individuals can help you to reach great successes that strengthen the profile of your business and increase client satisfaction.
Brings Advantage In Market Growth
Startups and smaller businesses may struggle to get a competitive advantage in the market because of their limited resources. If they want to be competitive, they'll have to hire outside help for hiring. With the assistance of a staffing agency, they might find highly qualified candidates at a reasonable cost who are a good fit for their open positions.
If a company and an experienced recruitment agency have a solid working relationship, the startup could be able to discover top personnel faster than larger businesses. You may get an advantage in a competitive market and advance more quickly if you possess that expertise.
Conclusion
After you've considered all the benefits of the IT staffing process, the following step is to decide whether staffing services are the right choice for your business. There are several factors to consider when deciding whether you need to bring on a staffing partner for full-time jobs, temporary tasks, ongoing projects, or even part-time employment.
When hiring for IT jobs, you'll need to consider your tastes, company goals, international reputation, industry tenure, and many more. Or simply contact us get your questions answered and get ready to embark on your business journey.
