Streamlined Care: The Role of the Outdoor Patient Department
In the complex landscape of healthcare, the Outdoor Patient Department (OPD) stands as a crucial pillar. Serving as the first point of contact between patients and healthcare providers, the OPD plays a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and managing various health conditions. This blog delves into the importance of the OPD in hospitals, its functions, and its impact on the overall healthcare system, with a focus on key terms like "OPD in hospital," "cardiac intensive care unit," and "healthcare services provider."
The Importance of OPD in Hospitals
The OPD is often referred to as the heartbeat of a hospital. It is where patients receive initial consultations, diagnoses, and treatments without the need for overnight admission. This department is critical for several reasons:
First Point of Contact: The OPD serves as the initial touchpoint for patients seeking medical attention. It is where general practitioners, specialists, and other healthcare providers offer their expertise to diagnose and treat a wide range of health issues.
Early Detection and Prevention: Regular visits to the OPD can lead to the early detection of diseases, allowing for timely intervention and prevention of more severe health conditions. This is particularly important for chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.
Cost-Effective Care: Receiving treatment in the OPD is generally more cost-effective than inpatient care. It helps reduce the burden on hospital resources and makes healthcare more accessible to a larger population.
Continuity of Care: The OPD ensures continuity of care for patients with chronic conditions. Regular follow-ups and monitoring are essential for managing long-term health issues effectively.
Functions of the OPD
The OPD in hospital performs a variety of functions, all aimed at providing comprehensive care to patients. Here are some of the key functions:
Consultations and Diagnoses: Patients visit the OPD for initial consultations with doctors. Here, healthcare providers take patient histories, perform physical examinations, and order necessary diagnostic tests to arrive at a diagnosis.
Treatment and Management: Based on the diagnosis, doctors in the OPD prescribe medications, recommend lifestyle changes, and provide other treatments. For chronic conditions, they develop management plans to help patients maintain their health.
Specialty Clinics: Many OPDs have specialty clinics that focus on specific health areas, such as cardiology, dermatology, orthopedics, and more. This allows patients to receive specialized care without needing to be admitted to the hospital.
Referral Services: If a patient’s condition requires more intensive care or specialized treatment, the OPD can refer them to other departments within the hospital, such as the cardiac intensive care unit or surgical wards.
Preventive Services: The OPD often conducts health camps, vaccination drives, and screening programs to promote preventive healthcare. These services are essential for early detection and prevention of diseases.
The Role of OPD in Cardiac Care
Cardiac care is one of the most critical areas within healthcare, and the OPD plays a significant role in managing heart health.
Early Detection of Cardiac Issues: The OPD is where patients with symptoms like chest pain, breathlessness, and palpitations first seek help. Early detection and timely intervention can prevent serious cardiac events.
Follow-Up Care: Patients who have undergone procedures or surgeries in the cardiac intensive care unit need regular follow-ups in the OPD. This ensures that their recovery is on track and any complications are promptly addressed.
Chronic Disease Management: Conditions like hypertension and heart disease require ongoing management. The OPD provides a platform for regular monitoring and adjustment of treatment plans.
Education and Counseling: Educating patients about heart health, lifestyle changes, and medication adherence is a crucial function of the OPD. Counseling services help patients make informed decisions about their health.
Impact of OPD on Healthcare Services Providers
Healthcare services provider rely heavily on the OPD to deliver effective and efficient care. The OPD enhances the overall healthcare system in several ways:
Efficient Resource Utilization: By providing initial consultations and treatments, the OPD helps reduce the burden on inpatient services. This allows hospitals to utilize their resources more efficiently.
Patient Satisfaction: The OPD is often where patients form their first impressions of a healthcare facility. Providing quality care in the OPD can lead to higher patient satisfaction and trust in the healthcare services provider.
Comprehensive Care Delivery: The OPD acts as a hub for various healthcare services, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive care. This integrated approach improves health outcomes and patient well-being.
Revenue Generation: The OPD is a significant source of revenue for hospitals. By offering a wide range of services, hospitals can attract more patients and generate income to support other critical services.
Conclusion
The Outdoor Patient Department is an essential component of modern healthcare systems. It serves as the gateway to comprehensive care, offering a range of services from initial consultations to specialized treatments. The role of the OPD in early detection, chronic disease management, and patient education cannot be overstated. It enhances the efficiency of healthcare services providers, improves patient satisfaction, and contributes to better health outcomes.
Smt. S.R. Mehta & Sir K.P. Cardiac Institute is a prime example of an institution that excels in providing top-notch healthcare services through its OPD. And now let’s meet the 12 eligible bachelors!
Nico Hischier | 25, from Switzerland
Captain of the New Jersey Devils. Sweeter than Swiss Chocolate. Like quite frankly might be the sweetest man on planet earth. Enjoys adventures outdoors, movie nights, and a good puzzle. Loves working out, but be aware he definitely will always have a better butt than you. Very patient as he deals with Jack Hughes all day long. Nico is looking for a forever music festival date.
Jamie Drysdale | 22, from Toronto
His on ice skills make up for those he lacks in the style department. But that’s where you come in, Jamie needs a girl who can improve his fashion sense (cause Trevor clearly didn’t do much for him). He takes pride in his flow, so you never have to worry about him making fun of your self care routine. Jamie enjoys country music, shoulder rubs, and puppies.
Matt Rempe | 22, from Calgary
You’ll never have to worry about being taller than him in heels, as he is quite literally a giant. He loves a good book, and is even the co-founder of the first ever Rangers Book Club with Chris Kreider. Not afraid to fight for you. Guaranteed to make you laugh with his silly catch phrases. Looking for a girl who isn’t scared to clean his battle wounds.
Vince Dunn | 27, from Kawartha Lakes
The best mix of cocky, sweetheart, and a little bit of airhead. Knows he’s attractive, but will still be a complete goofball. A connoisseur of alcohol, could definitely recommend a wine or two. He enjoys video games, nights out, and binge watching a good Netflix show. He isn’t afraid to show his tough side if it comes to fighting for what he wants. Vince is looking for a girl to travel the world in the offseason enjoying the cuisine every country has to offer.
Jack Eichel | 27, from Chelmsford
His real name is John, but he goes by Jack. Be aware he is always going to be the diva of the relationship. Loves any sort of competitive activity, but will never let you win, and will always whine if he loses. Has a big heart and enjoys philanthropic work. Jack will never fail to make you laugh, always having a funny story to tell about another teammate. Jack is looking for a girl who is up for Brunch on Sunday’s, with football on the tv.
Mat Barzal | 27, from Coquitlam
Unique already because he spells his name with one T and not two, Mat is an all around catch. He speaks French, is obsessed with vacations to Italy, and prides himself on his physique. He’s not afraid of designer clothes, and you can guarantee he will buy you nice things. Mat is looking for a girl who will ride scooters with him Italy, and have a cold drink waiting for him on the golf cart after he sinks a hole in one.
Trevor Zegras | 23, from Bedford
Fasten your seatbelt, because with Trevor life is always in the fast lane. Trevor is a ball of energy that will always keep you guessing. Quite possibly a 10 year old trapped in a 23 year olds body. Whether you laugh at his jokes or not, Trevor will always be laughing. He enjoys music festivals, video games, and running his mouth 24/7. If you don’t end up choosing him he’s got Cole and the Hughes brothers as backups.
Quinn Hughes | 24, Bloomington
Don’t be fooled by his demeanor, Quinn is a big teddy bear. Captain of the Vancouver Canucks, he’s got a good amount of pressure on his shoulders. So Quinn enjoys time at the lake house to relax in the off season. Whether it be time on the boat, a round of golf, or time with family, Quinn loves taking time to recharge. He may be shy or soft spoken at first, but when he opens up he’s the biggest goofball. Quinn is looking for a girl that doesn’t mind annoying younger brothers.
Auston Matthews | 26, from Scottsdale
Not necessarily familiar with winning when it counts, but he sure knows how to score. Auston enjoys a day spent outdoors, walking his dog, and is even a closet sewer! So no more trips to the seamstress for you! He is also friends with Justin Bieber, so your wedding singer is already on lock. Auston is looking for a girl who will stick by his side through the ups, but more importantly the downs (cause knowing Toronto there will probably be a few).
Cole Caufield | 23, from Mosinee
The biggest Swifty in the league, though he tries to hide his love for her. He bought a party bus for T Swift, imagine the things this man would buy for you. His smile could light up any room, and there will never be a day he doesn’t make you laugh. Don’t get offended if he occasionally needs time with his boys (Trevor and Jack), they might let you fourth wheel if you’re lucky. Cole is looking for a girl to laugh at all his jokes and belt out T Swift at karaoke after a few beers.
Luke Hughes | 20, Manchester
The youngest of the Hughes brothers, and the youngest in the race for love. Though Luke very much is mature for his age. He prides himself on his attention to detail and how much he’d learn about you from one conversation. Luke enjoys a relaxing Sunday where you stay under the blankets and watch trashy reality tv. He is soft spoken, but your one on one conversations is where he chooses to open up. Luke is looking for a girl who can keep him sane but also bring out his wild side.
John Marino | 27, Easton
Probably the smartest man in the competition, he went to Harvard for crying out loud. John is a big fan of Fall, so he will gladly enjoy all the activities it brings and support your fall girl aesthetic. His ideal night in when he has a day off would be board games or a movie with lots of snacks. He loves to brighten your day with random facts, half of them not ones you believed because they were so random. John is looking for a girl who knows of anything fun to do in Utah, because seriously what is this city boy supposed to do in Utah?

I haven’t regressed for a while because you know, life sometimes gets in the way. But I finally got a moment after class to have the rest of the evening off and just regress. At first I was worried I wouldn’t be able to regress after a stressful day at college. Then I literally was two second into a Blue’s Clues episode with Steve and suddenly I’m a baby😂 Steve just had the magic touch🥹💞
I felt inspired to write a cute fic with him and a little reader. I’m actually thinking of making a mini series of fics with a little reader in a kids show. What do you think? Would you guys like something like that? Let me know😄
So please enjoy another “side quest fic” I didn’t plan on writing😂💞
Looking for Blue’s Clues🐾

I held my head up high as I walked through the woods, stuffie in hand, backpack on my shoulders, wandering around on my own little adventure. I needed this, just some time away from the busy and hectic working world. I just needed some time outdoors to regress in peace.
And that’s what I did. All my supplies shoved into my backpack, my favorite stuffie in hand, I am ready to go! I started on a trail, following the winding trail through the thick woods. I’ve been on this trail before, it’s calm, quiet and peaceful. Perfect for a regression day.
As I kept walking I noticed something with my usual trail. The trail split into two pathways. One, the usual path, went right and down towards a river. But now there’s a left path, a path that’s never existed before. Maybe the parks department decided to make a new path for everyone?
There was something deep down inside of me that filled with excitement for the new adventure. I looked to my stuffie in hand, “What do you think (stuffie name)?”
Though they didn’t outright say it, I knew my stuffie wanted me to go forward towards the adventure.
“You’re so right! New trail it is!”
The path wasn’t very different than the other trail, though it did go deeper into the woods. But there was a clearing up ahead, I could see there was a colorful neighborhood with a yellow house.
A blue dog ran infront of me, stopping me in my tracks. She began talking to me before she skipped away. I smiled to myself, a blue dog?! That’s a first!
Suddenly out of the corner of my eyes I spotted something. On one of the tall trees next to me is a blue paw print. I walked over and looked at the print and smiled. Why would there be a blue paw print here? Did that dog leave it behind?
“A clue!”
I quickly turned around to be greeted by a man in a stripped green shirt. He smiled, happy to see me as if he knew me his whole life.
“You found a clue!”
“A clue?” I pointed to the blue print.
“A blue’s clue! Great job! You’re very smart.”
I couldn’t help but smile at the praise. “Thank you, but I wasn’t even trying.”
“You weren’t trying to find blue’s clue and you found it anyway? You’re better at this than me! Wow!” Again, the stranger glowed with praise.
“I’m Steve, it’s so nice to meet you.” He put his hand out to shake.
“I’m Y/N. It’s nice to meet you too.” I gladly shook his hand.
“Now that we have our first clue, we gotta put it in our handy dandy notebook!” Steve pulled out his notebook from his back pocket, popping the crayon out from the top and flipping to the first page.
He stood along side me so I could see what he was drawing. “So our first clue is a tree. We’ll start with two big lines for the trunk of the tree, then we’ll draw smaller lines on the top for the branches, then we’ll make this curly lines for the leafs at the top of the tree. There, a tree.” He looked up from his drawing to smile back at me.
“Our first clue is a tree. So what could Blue want to do tonight after dinner with…a tree?” He asked me.
I began thinking of all the possibilities a tree could mean. What does his dog want to do tonight? “Maybe she wants to play fetch with one of the branches of the tree?”
Steve hummed in agreement, “Good idea, maybe she does watch to play fetch. But we have to find the other clues to be sure.”
I nod my head in agreement but I can’t help but ask. “How many clues are there?”
“There are three clues. Once we find all three clues we sit in our thinking chair and think, think, think. Because when we use our minds, we take a step out of time and we can do anything that we want to do.” His smile is utterly contagious because I smile just as big as him.
“I’m really going to need your help to find the other two clues. Will you help me find them?”
“Yeah!” I practically jump saying.
“Really? Thank you! You’re the best! Now, this second clue must be around here somewhere…Lets go this way.” He hold his hand out to me as a silent offer.
I appreciate him not being pushy or just grabbing my hand. It was an invitation if I wanted it, so I took his hand in mine. Together we walked to the yellow house I saw earlier.
Steve opened the door and lead the way into his house. It’s beautiful with its peach tone wallpaper and big red chair in the living room.
“That’s the thinking chair,” Steve pointed out, “Once we’ve got all three clues we’ll sit there and think.”
Then it was off to the kitchen to further find a clue. Inside on the counter top is a family different spices.
“Y/N,” he squeezed my hand, “I’d like to introduce you to Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper and their children Cinnamon and Paprika.”
I couldn’t believe my eyes as the Salt and Pepper shaker waved and talked to me.
“Bonjour Y/N! Welcome to our home!” Mr. Salt waved.
“So wonderful to have you here.” Mrs. Pepper added.
“So nice to meet you both.” I smiled back.
But then my eyes caught it, across the kitchen on another counter top sat a bag of marshmallows. And on the bag? A big blue paw print!
“Steve! A clue! A clue!!” I squeezed his hand back and was jumping out and down.
“The flu? You don’t look sick to me. Here let me check.” He held his hand to my forehead. “No, you don’t have a temperature.”
I couldn’t help but giggle to Steve. “No! A clue! Over there!” I pointed to the paw print.
Steve gasped and quickly the two of us ran over to the bag of marshmallows. “So our second clue is…marshmallows. You know what we gotta do. We gotta put this clue in our handy dandy…”
“Notebook!”
“That’s right! Our notebook! Now, a marshmallow. We’ll make two round lines on the side and an oval on the top. At the bottom we’ll make half a circle to connect the sides. There! A marshmallow! But what could Blue want to do tonight after dinner with…a tree and a marshmallow?”
The two of us stopped and started to think about the clues. There were pretty different from one another. It would be hard to tell what they meant together.
“Maybe she wants to play fetch then eat some marshmallows?” I suggested.
Steve gasped and nodded his head, “Maybe! But I think we should find our last clue before we decide.” I nodded in agreement.
Mail time, mail time mmmmaaaaaiiilllll ttttiiimmmmeeee
“Oh! The mail is here!” Steve grabbed my hand and together we ran into the living room. Blue and him started dancing around happy for the mails arrival. After a minute I started to join in the fun.
“Here’s the mail, it never fails. It makes me want to wag my tail. When it comes I want to wail, MMMMMAAAAAIIIIILLLLL!!!”
Steve plopped down into his thinking chair and held his hand out for me to sit as well. “You’re more than welcome to sit on my lap or on the arm of the chair. Whichever is more comfortable for you Y/N.”
After a moment of consideration, I chose to sit on the arm of the chair next to Steve. The mailbox stretched into the room and over to our chair. “Mails here! Mails here!”
“Mailbox! I’d like you to meet my friend Y/N. Y/N, this is Mailbox.”
“It’s nice to meet you.” I smiled to the purple mailbox.
“It’s nice to meet you too! Infact this letter is for you.”
“It’s for me?”
“Yup! Here you go!” Mailbox opens his lid and Steve grabbed the letter for me.
“We just got a letter, we just got a letter, we just got a letter, wonder who it’s from.” He went to open the letter but paused and looked to me. “Y/N this is your mail. Would you rather open it or would you like me to?”
“Could you open and read it?” I asked a bit shy. But Steve brought me back to feeling comfortable with his warm smile and nod.
“Of course I can. Now let’s see, oh! It appears that this letter is from a (stuffie name here).”
I gasped and looked down at my stuffie. “It’s from (stuffie name here)?!”
“Uh-huh. That what it says. The letter goes,
Dear Y/N,
Thank you for always taking such great care of me. Thank you for always coming to me whenever you need extra love and comfort. Always know I will forever be with you even when you have to go to school or work. There’s always a piece of me inside of you just as there a piece of you inside of me.
Love you always,
(Stuffie name).”
Tears started to fall down from my eyes as I looked at my stuffie in hand. They looked back up at me with a smile and a wink.
“What a beautiful letter! Your stuffie is very grateful for you Y/N, just as I’m sure you are for them. Oh, I don’t think we were introduced. It’s nice to meet you (stuffie name).” Steve leaned over and shook the stuffie’s (hand, paw, fin, ect.)
“They said it’s nice to meet you too.” I add back to Steve, wiping the happy tears from my eyes.
“Are you okay?”
I hum in agreement. “My stuffie was just so nice.”
“They seem great! You’re perfectly matched because you’re great and they’re great too.” Steve smiled. “Now, would you like to take a moment here or would you like to go find the last clue?”
“The last clue!!”
“Alright!” He stood up and offered his hand again. I jumped off the chair and took his hand in mine again. “Off we go looking for clues…but ummm…where do you think we should go?”
I looked outside and saw the sunsetting. It might be nice to get some fresh air again. “Maybe outside?” I offered.
“Great idea! Follow me.” Steve led the way as we ventured back outside.
Outside we started to walk around the town. Steve showed me the eye doctor where Blue’s friend Magenta got her new glasses, then there was the present shop where his brother Joe works and another house down the block where his cousin Josh lives. The town seemed so nice and peaceful.
Since we didn’t see anymore of Blue’s clues we ventured back to Steve’s house and into the back yard. There it seemed all of his friends were handing out around a picnic blanket, tree and a fire pit. WAIT A MINUTE! THE FIRE PIT!
“Steve!! A clue!! Another clue!!” I pointed out again.
“Really?! Where?”
“There by the fire pit! The final clue!”
Steve gasped and looked at the fire pit. There, at the base of it was the clue.
“A clue!! Our final clue! And it’s on the fire pit. You know where we need to put this, in our handy dandy…”
“NOTEBOOK!”
Steve grabbed his notebook from his back pocket and began drawing. “So our last clue is…a fire pit. We’ll start by making a cylinder for the fire pit. Then spark points for the fire inside of it. There, a fire pit!”
He closed the notebook then looked at me just as excited. “We have all three clues! We have to sit in our-.”
“Think chair!!”
“Yes! Come on!”
The two of us raced back inside the house and over to the thinking chair. Steve sat in his usual spot and I opted for the arm of the chair again. Blue ran over and joined us, to see if we got it right.
“So now that we’re in our thinking chair, let’s think. So what could Blue want to do tonight after dinner? What’s our first clue?”
“A tree.”
“That’s right! A branch! Good job remembering. So our first clue is a branch. But what was our second?”
“Marshmallows!”
“You’re right it’s marshmallows! You have an amazing memory.” He smiled.
“Finally our last clue is a fire pit. So what could Blue want to do tonight after dinner, with a tree, marshmallows and a fire pit?”
The two of sat in the chair together and think, think, think. They did seem random at first but they meant to go together. Then suddenly it hit me!
“Steve! I’ve got it! I’ve got it!!”
“What is it Y/N?”
“Blue wants to use the wood from the tree to make a fire so that she can roast marshmallows!”
Steve’s face lights up to the idea. He looks to Blue who start jumping around the room happily. “You did it Y/N! You figure out Blue’s Clues!”
Steve jumps up and put his arms open to me. I immediately run into them, getting a big hug from him. “You are so smart! I am so proud of you!”
Tears build up in my eyes hearing the admission. He’s treated me so sweet for hardly knowing me. I haven’t felt this safe and happy in such a long time.
“Come on, let’s go outside and get ourselves a marshmallow.” Steve says as we break apart.
The two of us join the rest of the neighborhood outside to roast some marshmallows. There I meet Joe and Josh as well as the rest of the family including Magenta, Sidetable, and more.
I sat next to Steve as the evening turned to night. We looked up at the stars above as we ate our marshmallows.
“You know, you could stay if you wanted?” Steve said after a moment. I looked at him shocked at first. “It’s just that, you did such a good job finding all the clues. And Blue and I loved having you here. Plus, I could look after you and show you the rest of the town and-.”
He stopped himself. “Sorry, what I’m trying to say is. If you like to stay you’re more than welcome to. I’d love to have you here. And before you say anything, I don’t mind your regression. I’d love to help take care of you and maybe even possible be your Caregiver. So what do you think?”
I immediately began to tear up again. “I’d love to stay and I’d love to have you as my Caregiver.”
Steve’s nervousness turned immediately to happiness as he put his arms out again. I didn’t waste any time as I joined him in a hug.
“I’m so happy to hear that Y/N. I think you’re going to be the best person for this town. I couldn’t be more happy to have you here Y/N.” Steve added as we broke apart.
“I couldn’t be more happy to be here.” I smiled back.

01 - Handjob - Neteyam
01 - handjob : happy kinktober!
Summary: You greet Neteyam after training and he looks too good not to be given a handjob.
Warning: Literally said in the summary handjob, but there’s also kissing, nipple play other heavy petting.
Masterlist
In the healing chamber, the sweet melodies of your humming mingle with the rhythmic symphony of the mortar and pestle in your skilled hands. Though preparing herbs can be demanding, you approach it with unwavering purpose. Guided by the teachings of the tribe's healers, you expertly identify and distinguish the beneficial herbs for treating various ailments. Mint, Nolina, and other carefully selected spices are ground and blended, fragrant filling the air. This healing ointment soothes inflammation, heals wounds, and relieves headaches and stress.
You diligently grind and crush the herbs patiently and precisely, transforming them into a fine paste. As you create the solution that will serve as medicine for your people, you embrace this sacred duty with utmost dedication. Yet, amidst the laborious process, you find joy. The delightful aroma of the crushed and ground herbs envelops your senses, bringing a sense of fulfillment and contentment.
Lost in the sight of your finished work, your attention was solely consumed by the paste, causing you to unintentionally miss the approach of Mo'at. The revered tsahík of the Omatikaya, also known as the clan's spiritual leader and the beloved grandmother of Neteyam, your mate, gracefully made her way towards you from behind.
Feeling her warmth and powerful embrace, you tilted your head to the woman. "Tsahík, I finished all the work that you had requested to be done for the upcoming hunting season." The older woman offered you a smile before nestling herself to your side.
Mo'at gazes upon the meticulously crushed herbs, her eyes filled with curiosity and a hint of pride. Your dedication and skill shine through, evident in the quality of your work. A warm smile graces her face as she nods approvingly. "You've truly outdone yourself, dear," she praises, her gaze shifting towards you. She gently transfers the paste into a nearby jar, ensuring its safekeeping. A sense of accomplishment and connection envelops the room as she touches your shoulder.
Slowly cleaning up your area, you turned to Mo'at with a smile. "Thank you, Mo'at. You're a wonderful mentor, and I'm grateful for the wisdom you share with me."
Mo'at's smile radiates warmth as she nods in affirmation. "Guiding our people and sharing my wisdom is my sacred duty. I have imparted my teachings to you with great care, dear, and I will continue to do so, just as I would with my daughter." Her hands rest gently on your shoulders as she leans in for a heartfelt embrace. The delicate scent of herbs lingers on her clothes and hair. With a tender gaze, Mo'at encourages you, "Now, go forth, for my grandson awaits for you after his training. Make your way to him and continue on your path." As she turns to depart, your purpose fulfilled, a sense of gratitude and determination fills the air.
You finish up what you were doing in the tent and look out to see the sun is more than halfway out of the sky. You decide to head to the training grounds, which is probably where Neteyam will be, as Mo'at suggested. You take your time and enjoy the outdoors, breathing in the fresh air of Pandora. You reach the training grounds and see several Na'vi kids practicing their skills. You spot Neteyam in the crowd with his fellow Omaticaya clan members. He is in the middle of a fight with another warrior, trading blows and kicks back and forth. You settle in to watch, amazed with how the lowing sun rays looked on his skin.
For a fleeting moment, your eyes fill with delight as you witness Neteyam's athletic body gracefully move under the sunlight. A magnetic attraction pulls at your heartstrings as you observe his fluid and precise movements. Each powerful punch and kick he delivers to his opponent captivates your attention.
As the wind gently tousles Neteyam's micro braids, the sun illuminates his muscular physique. With a forceful push, he drives his adversary backward, landing a flawless kick to the warrior's chest, causing him to stumble and fall. In that victorious moment, Neteyam's gaze meets yours, and he playfully winks, acknowledging your presence.
A rush of warmth engulfs you like wildfire as a glimmer in Neteyam's eyes reveals his carefree and playful nature. However, ever the respectful man, he swiftly redirects his attention to his companion, offering a nod of respect and admiration. The air crackles with anticipation as your body seems to get hotter.
Your sweet mate nods you off, making you smile softly, understanding that he had to finish up loose ends before he could leave. You watch with pride as Neteyam finishes his practice with his fellow warriors, seeing him bow respectfully towards the group.
You lean in closer as the sunlight bounces off the sweat on his skin and highlights his defined muscles. You gulped as those honeycomb orbs stared back at you with a smile. Neteyam then moves his body to make him look almost graceful as he glides through the crowd of people to reach you. You feel your heart beating faster as you watch him with pride, your feelings of admiration and desire towards him deepening.
Neteyam approaches you, his broad and muscular frame filling your field of vision. He wraps his strong arms around you, embracing you tightly. You inhale deeply, taking in the masculine scent of his body and enjoying the feeling of his arms around you. "Hello, my yawne," he murmurs softly, nuzzling his face into yours. "I missed you," he says, his voice filled with love and affection. He presses his lips gently against your forehead in an intimate gesture. You feel your heart racing and your stomach flipping as love and desire rise within you.
"I've missed you even more," you whisper, rising on your tiptoes to capture Neteyam's eager lips. Surprised momentarily, he swiftly regains his composure, enveloping you in a tight embrace and returning the kiss with intensified passion. Your hands grasp onto his glistening chest, finding comfort in the touch of his meticulously crafted cummerbund, a symbol of your unbreakable bond since the day he soared through the skies on his Ikran with you as his trusted companion. You presented it to him during the early stages of courtship, a gesture that holds deep meaning for both of you. Neteyam wouldn't have it any other way. You were and always will be his beloved.
The warrior pulls away, burying his face in your hair and kissing your neck and collarbones. His warm tongue leaves a trail of desire behind. Whispering in your ear, he playfully says, "Didn't realize you missed me that much, but who am I to complain?"
You drown out the onlookers, reveling in the attention as they witness the bond between you and Neteyam. Their gazes confirm that you belong to each other.
So, you ignore the world as Neteyam's lips slowly explore your body. Hot and deliberate breaths caress your skin, while his words of affection fill your ear. Lost in pleasure, you moan and bury your face in his neck, savoring every touch. You yearn to be consumed by him, to lose yourself entirely in the intoxicating haze of desire. The world can wait, the tribe can wait, but the feeling of Neteyam cannot.
You pushed slightly at his chest and stared at him with understanding, lust-filled eyes. "Follow me." Your breath catches in your throat, and your cheeks burn with passion.
Neteyam grins down at you, a glimmer in his eyes. "Lead the way," he says, his voice low and sexy. You take his hand and lead him away, your body shaking with nerves and excitement. You look over your shoulder at him, giving him a seductive smile before continuing.
Your heart races as his fingers slip around yours, and he follows you, his body so close to yours that you can almost feel his breath on your neck. You're unsure what you're about to do, but it's hard to ignore the urge inside you. You bring him to a secluded spot underneath a towering tree. You look around, realizing no one else is present, but you don't care if you have an audience. you lean close to Neteyam. "I want you," you whisper seductively, pulling him closer.
Your heart races as his muscles flex underneath his skin, guiding him against the massive trunk adorned with crawling vines. The vines bear large greenish/purple leaves half the length of your body. Some leaves even find their way underneath the both of you as your lips meld together in a fierce and passionate kiss. The exotic foliage surrounds you, the rustling leaves adding to the moment's intensity. With each touch and caress, your desire grows, your bodies entwined in a dance of passion and longing. As you both pull away, breathless and dizzy, the hunger in your eyes speaks volumes of the desire that still burns between you.
Your hands fiddle with the leather cummerbund, slipping it off his body to feel his strong muscles. And Neteyam couldn't help but lean down to continue to kiss you. His tongue explores the depths of your mouth as you become lost in the sensations. You passionately kiss him, your lips sliding and dancing with his with each movement. In the distance, you can hear the sounds of the clan.
But your mind only seemed to focus on two things. Neteyam's lips on yours and your hands. They genuinely had a sense of their own as they reached the slightly hardened cock. The warrior groaned deeply into your mouth, sending vibrations down your throat as you squeezed the clothed member. "Fuck, Y/n, you just don't even realize what you do to me."
You couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement as you playfully nibbled on his bottom lip, your fingers still fumbling with his growing member. Pressing him closer against the sturdy tree, you couldn't resist teasingly remarking, "Let me see then?"
Neteyam is surprised at your bold comment but doesn't resist or deny you. "Anything for my beautiful girl. " His lips parted slightly as he smiled and nodded at you. His expression hints at mischief; you know you are in for an amazing experience. "Go on, muntxate. What are you waiting for?" You reach for the waist ties of his loincloth, fumbling with it for a moment before it gives way. With a satisfied grin on your face, you pull the garment down. You look down at what is now presented to you and feel a wave of desire wash over you. Neteyam smiles at you seductively as you begin to explore his length.
"That's my girl," he whispered, his lips meeting yours in a passionate yet fleeting kiss. Pulling away, you couldn't help but gaze down at his member. With a firm grip, you slowly slid your hand up his shaft, marveling at the sight before you. His length nearly reached the entirety of your forearm, and as your thumb caressed the pulsating vein at the base, it disappeared beneath the light pink tip. The sight left you with a mouthwatering anticipation.
"Love your cock Teyam." Neteyam lets out a growl, grabbing your jaw in his hand as you gain eye contact. "I love you." His lips pressed against yours eagerly, and you kissed him back with equal force.
He lowers his hands to the lower of your back, with one cupping your butt and the other around your tail, keeping you firmly wedged against his warm body. You reached between the both of you, taking him in the palms of your hands, jerking his dick while twisting your wrists cohesively.
You feel Neteyam's strong body tense as your hands continue to work his throbbing cock. Groans escaped his wet lips, causing you to feel electricity spark through your skin.
"Yawne, fuck, I love you." He mumbles as you pull away from his lips to kiss along his jaw. Feeling your lips kissing the sensitive areas of his skin, the warrior couldn't help but thrust it into your hands. "You're driving me crazy."
You giggle out, kissing him, applying an open-mouth kiss on his lips, moving back down towards his nest, trailing towards his chest, reaching his nipples. "I like driving you crazy." Neteyam didn't have time to reply as you kitten licked his nipples, earning an immediate response.
His breathing became fast, and his cock twitched and throbbed in your palms. Precum leaked from his sensitive tip, making your stroking much more accessible and allowing you to fast your jerk motions. "Fuck, yawne, so fucking," your swollen lips wrapped around his nipple, sucking hard, twirling the sensitive bud in your warm mouth. "Y/n, my good girl." He tugged on your tail, making you clench your thighs together from the growing need you were experiencing from hearing his heavenly moans.
His hand left my soft bottom to tangle his fingers in your braids. Your eyes looked up from sucking on his chest to see his eyes closed and mouth ajar. Knowing that you were making your mate feel good, you couldn't help but feel prideful.
You pulled away from his chest slightly to look down at his swollen cock. Your strokes increased, and his thrust quickened. "You're so hot, Neteyam. So grateful you’re mine." You moaned out, noticing how tense his abs and upper legs seemed to be getting.
"Yours, baby girl." Neteyam panted out, leaning his head against the bark, feeling the ecstasy of the pleasure he felt from your hand working on him. You jerked his entire length while flickering your wrists, squeezing so tight. "Since the moment I met you, muntxate." A broken groan left his throat as one of your hands dropped toward his balls, giving them a little attention. "Make me feel as good."
"Good," you whispered, your lips eagerly seeking his once more, unable to resist the overwhelming desire. The knowledge that he was nearing his peak only fueled your passion further. "I adore bringing you pleasure, Nete. My powerful and loving partner. It's exhilarating to know I'm the only one to witness you in this state." Your words carried a seductive tone directed straight toward his arousal.
His hands tightened around your tail, and his fingers tugged on your roots as his movements quickened animalistic into your hand as you continued to jerk his cock. His kisses became messier, and his whimpers escaped his throat, allowing you to swallow them. You felt him shudder underneath you.
"Y-y/n, fuck." Neteyam's words weren't coherent as he spilled his cum all over your hands and stomach, painting you in white ribbons. Feeling the warm liquid litter your skin, you didn't stop jerking until Neteyam's hand slipped its hold on you to place them on your tired wrists.
You feel Neteyam's hands slowly and gently caressing your wrists, the soft touches driving you wild with desire. You lean against him to keep him close, unable to get enough of him. He kisses you slowly again, dragging it out for as long and passionately as possible. The feeling of his soft and warm lips on yours sends electric impulses through your body.
Your heart races, and you feel the blood coursing quickly through your veins. "So good to me, muntxate,"
You smile seductively at him, your body tingling and your mouth warm. The air is heavy with lust and desire but also joy and love. You are happy to have found Neteyam, and he is pleased to have found you. "Gonna reward you for being a good girl." You giggled as you brought your hands to your face to lick them clean of Neteyam's salty goodness.
"You really are going to kill me, Y/n." Collecting the rest of the cum that painted your stomach, you can't imagine being with anyone else, and you are so happy to be his.

NYC COVID cases up 250% in 2 months — and this variant's harder to duck
Published July 4, 2024
Also posted on our archive
New York is experiencing a bump in COVID cases that might put a damper on people’s summer plans.
Cases have been rising nationally and locally for about two months, driven by so-called “FLiRT” variants — versions of the virus that have evolved to evade immunity.
Mandatory COVID mitigation measures have largely been waived, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has eased its recommendations for how long people should isolate themselves after getting sick. But there are still precautions people can take to avoid getting COVID or spreading it to others.
Here’s what to know about the latest COVID wave.
How big is the current COVID wave?
New York City data shows an average of 687 cases of COVID reported per day during the week ending on June 22, 250% higher than the amount reported two months prior. That same week, there was an average of 53 COVID-related hospitalizations each day — primarily involving older adults — and one death, according to city data.
A decline in testing means COVID case counts don’t necessarily show the full picture, according to public health experts. Based on state wastewater testing data, New York City appears to be experiencing a bump in COVID similar to the increase seen last summer. Current levels of the virus, however, are far lower than what was detected during a surge last winter.
Infectious disease experts say COVID is starting to follow a predictable pattern, with a surge in the fall when temperatures start to drop and people gather indoors, and a smaller bump in the summer.
In the summer, “there are family gatherings, there are weddings,” noted Dr. Jessica Justman, an epidemiologist and professor at the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health. And while people are more likely to spend time outdoors, where the virus is less likely to spread, “we also spend time indoors when we have a heat wave like we had last week.”
What do we know about the FLiRT variants?
Many people have developed some level of immunity against the virus, either through vaccination or past infection. While “FLiRT” variants can slip past that immunity, having some immunity still tends to make symptoms milder, said Andrew Pekosz, a professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health who researches respiratory viruses.
“Overall, disease severity is dropping,” he added.
Dr. Aaron Glatt, chair of the medicine department and chief of infectious diseases at Mount Sinai South Nassau, agreed that the current strains of COVID that are circulating do not appear to be causing serious illness in most cases.
“It's the typical COVID presentations,” Glatt said of patients he’s seen. “They have a cough. They may have some upper respiratory symptoms like a cold, runny nose.”
Glatt said he has seen more severe cases where people are experiencing shortness of breath, and is still concerned about older patients and those who are otherwise at high risk for severe disease. But he said it’s now rare for COVID patients to need to be placed in intensive care units.
What should I do if I get sick?
Until recently, the CDC recommended that people who tested positive for COVID isolate themselves for several days. But in March, responding to declining cases and disease severity overall, it revised that guidance to instead focus on a given individual’s symptoms.
The latest guidance — which applies to a variety of respiratory illnesses — calls for sick people to stay away from others until their symptoms have been improving for at least 24 hours and they haven’t had fevers for at least 24 hours.
In the five days after isolating, the CDC suggests practicing good hygiene, wearing a mask and not standing too close to other people.
The CDC notes that a COVID test can give a “rough approximation” of whether someone is still infectious, but advises that people should follow the same guidance regardless of whether they're sick from COVID or another respiratory illness.
Glatt said people in recovery should use common sense, including avoiding visiting older relatives or people who are at high risk for severe COVID.
“When you're starting to feel better, I would certainly let the other people around you know, ‘I recently had COVID,’” he added.
Where can I get tested for COVID?
New York City's once ubiquitous dedicated COVID testing sites have largely disappeared. But tests are still available at NYC Health and Hospitals locations, urgent care centers and other medical providers.
Many New Yorkers are now more accustomed to reaching for home testing kits, but they are also more likely now to have to go to the pharmacy and pay for them out of pocket. Insurers may cover home testing kits but are no longer required to since the federal COVID public health emergency expired in spring of 2023. The federal program distributing free COVID tests has also ended.
The city previously distributed free kits as well, but that program ended in March after about 150 million free rapid tests were handed out, according to city health department spokesperson Patrick Gallahue.
Those who do take home tests should remember that it can take a couple of days after exposure to test positive. It’s possible to report home-testing results online here.
When should I get my next COVID shot?
Although the CDC says adults over 65 can get an updated COVID vaccine every four months, Glatt said once a year is likely appropriate for most people.
Pekosz said the vaccines that are currently available are not very well-suited to the strains of COVID that are circulating, and people who are looking to get a shot should likely wait until updated vaccines come out in a couple of months.
“This coming fall's COVID vaccine will be a better match, although again, it probably won't be perfect,” since the virus continues to evolve, he said.

Deluded Pt. 1
Matteo Riddle x Reader
Summary: You and Matteo have a toxic yet addictive bond. Both of you know it and can't help but feed into it further. But what happens when the limit is found and crossed?
Warnings ⚠️: toxic relationship, swearing, arguing
"Sttawpp Matteeo.. i have to get to class..." Matteo, has you trapped in an outdoor alcove at the courtyard. His hands bracket your hips, and his head is nuzzled in the sweet spot between your neck and collar bone. At your request for him to stop his perusal of your neck, he responds with a giggle that tickles you under your jawline. "This is no joke! McGonagall will kill me if i show up late for the third time this month!!... MATTEO IM SERIOUS.." You then brace your forearms against his chest and push off.
"Comme onnn. That old witch won't notice. Know-it-all-Granger takes up all her attention in that class. I know you dont want to go, so why are you wasting this precious, precious time?.." At the last two words, his face is back on the same sensitive spot. And you wiggle again with less will to end it.
"Ughhh, at this rate, we both won't ever graduate. Don't you ever take anything at least a bit seriously?" This was partly a jest, but you also wanted to know if Matteo had the right priorities.
"Why do you have to ruin the mood? Who the fuck cares about school? Both our families are loaded anyway. You could work at any department at the Ministry even if you didnt pass Divination. Besides, no one goes to classes anyways. Blaise, Crab, Goyle, and Theo- even Pansy doesn't give a shit most of the time! BE MORE LIKE HER AND STOP KILLING MY BONER" He ends with an annoyed exasperation. You just gape at his complete disregard for school. Sure, you weren't a stellar student, but you gave at least 60% of an effort. Better than 0, duh?!
"I dont want to be like all those people!! If i want to do something worthwhile after grad, imma have to learn a thing or two to be of some use. My mommy and daddys money can't buy that STUPID!!" Eyes wide, you think about picking up your bag to leave, but before you can reach down, he's already hissing again.
"Holy fuck... your such a fucking tease right now. Fine. Go. I dont give a fuck. You're not irreplaceable, there are 20 other bitches that'll gladly take your place with me right now over some dumbass class." He then frenziedly takes out a cigarette and lights it. Not even looking at you.
After a pause and a breath, you finally say, "Wow. How fucking fragile are you? You cant even go a minute without having your dick wet can you? Its pathetic... Im sorry that i have other priorities than you, a raging manslut!! And since you have 20 other girls under me, i invite you to go to them because im sooo fucking done with your ass. They're all probably waiting oh so patiently too for me to let you go. Too bad for them to soon figure out what a DISAPPOINTING MESS YOU ARE."
"Haha yea right. Let's see how you like it when you can't have me. You're gonna wish you had chosen differently. While i on the other hand get to finally HAVE SOME FUCKING FUN. GO DRY YOUR PUSSY OUT WITH MCGONAGALL AND TRY NOT TO GET RUG BURN WHEN YOU CRAWL BACK TO ME." You're already halfway across the courtyard and dont even turn back when you scream:
"I HOPE YOU KNOW THE NUMBERS BETWEEN 0 AND 20 WHEN YOU COUNTDOWN YOU DUMB FUCKER!!"
You sort of speed stomp across the yard to reach the hallway. Then quickly go to the changing staircase to get onto the right set of stairs in order for you to arrive to class on time.
Now that the nerves of almost missing class have subsided, you are now fuming about everything else. How could he say all those things to you? Though you know Matteo and what he's capable of your delusional thoughts creep in to ask; did he truly mean all those things? He won't actually hook up with other girls, right? Deep down, you knew the answer but still refused to trust it. Matteo is more unlike his father than he is like his father. But in regards to keeping true to his threats, you could say it runs in the family.
Author note: i hope yall are angry at Matteo. Hehe. Part 2 coming soon!

Didcot Railway Centre: Visiting the Original Miracle Express! (18 Nov 2023)
I made a short but memorable stop at Didcot Railway Centre, where I could find the locomotive originally used as The Miracle Express in the Breakhtru music video. I was able to drop by when I was on my way to spend the day in Oxford with my friend Rowe, who was very patient putting up with me for this! 🥲🥰
To get to Didcot Railway Centre I took the train to Didcot Parkway station. From there I didn't need to tap out, because there's a direct staircase down leading to a tunnel (pictures on the left) and out into their main entrance (pictures on the right).
I've never been here before but the best way to describe the place is a train museum, specifically for the Great Western Railway. I wish I were a proper nerd in the train department to fully experience the potential of satisfaction, but unfortunately I'm not 😂. But not only do they have trains on display, they also have steam days where some trains will run on their demonstrative lines and you can take unlimited rides during the day!
After getting my ticket I was informed that the locomotive I was looking for was stored in the Engine Shed pictured above. I'm only slightly disappointed that it wasn't displayed outdoors (I think it gets taken outdoors some days? as I've seen pictures of it there) because that would look all the more majestic but that's fine. It was a short walk from the ticket desk and I spotted the locomotive instantly!
This is locomotive 3822 whose full history you can read here! It's got an impressive history and despite the Breakthru video having been filmed in Nene Valley Railway, the train has actually been stored here. Having no engine expertise whatsoever I can't really say much to explain the pictures that I've taken, other than the fact that I was in awe to be able to see in person and physically touch the locomotive that was once the Miracle Express.
Another one ticked off my list! Some additional links below, including Didcot Railway Centre's socials (who are clearly proud of having part of Queen history as part of their exhibition!) and their blog post briefly explaining the history of 3822.
I'll probably get more of the shorter posts out sooner than later (yes this counts as short) before I go into the big and longer ones in this... diary series? Thanks for reading!

A young mountain lion spent months at a rehabilitation center before he was released back into the wild on June 26, 2024. Photo provided by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Excerpt from this story from USA Today:
A young mountain lion found injured along a Simi Valley road late last year had beaten the odds.
Likely hit by a vehicle, the roughly 4-month-old had a broken left hind leg. He got a second chance when he was taken by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to a Ramona rehabilitation center. There, a veterinarian team operated, repairing the bones, using multiple pins and a metal plate.
But the risk that a cougar so young would habituate to people was high, said Autumn Nelson, wildlife operations manager at the center, part of the San Diego Humane Society. The goal is to release animals back into the wild. But if one gets too used to people, it is unlikely to happen.
"We gave it a shot and were very successful, keeping him wild up until the day of release," Nelson said. "He was the perfect patient."
Known as P-121, he spent months recovering, running, jumping and even hunting in his own outdoor enclosure. By late June, officials decided he was ready to go back to Ventura County.
For a little over a month, he did well, wandering around first in the Santa Susana Mountains and then farther north and east, said Jessica West, an environmental scientist with the state wildlife agency. But in August, he again was struck by a vehicle. This time, he was killed.

Problems With The Heart
Greg House x Dr Anna Harding (OFC)
Story Masterlist
Chapter 28 - Foreman’s Mistake
The only way anyone might have known House and Anna broke up for good is if they had been told by one of the two of them personally. No department suffered, in fact even with Anna running both radiology and cardiology, there was no evidence that either of them was suffering any kind of personal crisis. Anna wasn’t seen by many of her colleagues, she was too busy and also had lunch in her office. Wilson noticed she’d lost more weight than usual, but he didn’t dare bring it up.
She’d requested a week off once Henderson was back and able to work. House asked Wilson about it, but he was clueless.
‘I don’t know where she is, she’s probably in the Bahamas or something.’ Wilson said, not bothering to guard his food from House.
‘She already went to the Bahamas when she was thirteen.’ House shook his head. ‘She doesn’t go to the same place twice.’
‘Why are you so concerned with where Anna is? I thought you and Cuddy were hitting it off?’ Wilson asked, trying to assess his expression. ‘Do you miss her?’
‘Rock climbing.’ House said, getting up to leave and Wilson was left wondering if he should have called Anna to check in.
For the next week, House sent Foreman to help out in cardiology, claiming he’d gotten a request from the department, but Wilson knew better, knew that House secretly missed Anna to the point that even Cuddy was starting to notice.
Wilson didn’t have an answer for her, but Anna was back soon enough and had a few scrapes and bruises indicating she had in fact been rock climbing for a week. She looked good, healthy and her department had only lost on patient that week.
Wilson decided to drop in on House who was having a little difficulty with his new recruit, Masters.
The woman in question was walking into the office with Foreman after running some tests.
‘Okay, give me the good news.’ House said, just as Wilson had arrived. ‘What are you doing here?’
‘You were right, she was rock climbing all week,’ Wilson told him. ‘How’d you know?’
‘Lucky guess.’
‘Did you call her?’ House gave him an eye roll. ‘Of course not.’
‘If you’re talking about Dr Harding,’ Foreman interrupted. ‘She was in Red Rock all week. One of the nurses said she was going to Vegas to get away from people. She likes the outdoors, it’s the most logical place she’d go for time off.’
‘Are you talking about Dr Anna Harding, the cardiologist?’ Masters said excitedly.
‘Annabelle to her parents.’ House nodded sarcastically.
‘She’s kind of a legend.’
‘A legend?’
‘Yeah, she spoke a few times at my med school about heart disease, she always seemed so cool as well, really calm in the face of pressure.’
‘Let me guess, you wanna grow up to be like her?’
Masters didn’t answer, finally catching on to House’s mocking nature, but Wilson was the first one to spot the woman herself storming down a corridor.
‘House, did you do anything to upset Anna?’ He asked quickly.
‘No, why?’
‘Where the hell is Foreman?!’ Anna yelled walking into the office, she looked like she’d just had a rough morning.
‘What’s wrong?’ Foreman asked calmly.
Anna was holding a file open. ‘Did you change Mr Grant’s meds to include Epinephrine?’
‘Mr Grant?’
‘Room three sixteen.’ Anna wasn’t messing around, she was furious.
‘Oh yeah, I did,’ Foreman’s demeanour wasn’t helping his position. ‘I suspected your initial diagnosis of heart disease was wrong considering the patient also presented with a rash underneath his kneecaps.’
Anna’s knuckles were turning white. ‘What, in God’s name, gives you the right to even go near any of my patients?’
‘You were off for the week, someone thought you could do with some help covering.’ Foreman was far too smug.
‘Foreman-‘ Wilson tried to intervene.
‘Don’t you dare try and help him.’ Anna snapped, putting Wilson in his place. ‘I am fully aware of how you ended up in my department the last week and don’t think I’m not House, but if you had cared to actually look at the rash or even the back of the chart, you would have noticed he has a severe skin condition which had nothing to do with the heart disease.’
‘It’s unusual for someone to be in the hospital for a prolonged period of time if two symptoms aren’t connected.’
‘No.’ Anna breathed, she was almost laughing she was so angry. ‘It’s unusual for a case to land on your desk if two symptoms are unconnected, but in my department, heart disease is sometimes just heart disease.’ Wilson had a bad feeling. ‘So congratulations, your arrogance has just cost a twelve year old girl her only remaining parent. You proud of yourself?’
The mood in the room changed and even House looked as if he felt bad.
‘It was the epinephrine.’ Foreman concluded.
‘Well it wasn’t anything else.’
Anna went to leave.
‘I’m sorry.’ Foreman said, making her stop.
‘You’re sorry?’ She said.
‘Anna-‘ House tried to intervene.
‘What good is sorry?’ She didn’t stop. ‘You know what your problem is? You think you’re a better doctor than you are. You’ve become so well suited, brilliant even working under House, but when it comes to anything less than impossibly complex, you’re useless. Sometimes heart disease and a rash, is just heart disease and a rash. He was getting better, he would’ve had another ten years, enough time for his daughter to go to college and he could be there at her graduation.’ Anna took a breath, realising she’d probably gone a step too far. ‘Dr House the next time you decide you want to help out in cardiology, don’t. I don’t want to see him anywhere near my patients again.’
Anna left and the whole room was quiet. Foreman was distraught, but House was watching Anna.
‘You still admire her?’ He asked, Masters who just looked terrified.
House was glad Anna put Foreman in his place for a while, but it nearly cost him his life when the small pox case came around. Luckily Masters figured it out, though according to the young doctor, she and Anna had worked together to realise the cat on board the ship had lost its fur.
He knew Anna had been the one to figure out how he was dying, but she gave all the credit to Masters. House didn’t care that the credit had been given to someone else, he was just glad that Anna had taken an interest in keeping him alive.
He was glad she turned up to the wedding of the board member Cuddy knew was getting married. All the senior hospital staff were invited and Anna had turned up wearing the most gorgeous maroon dress, it was skin tight and she was hanging out with the nurse who worked in cardiology. Sophia was her name and she looked good, but Anna was something else. Cuddy could see him staring.
‘You should talk to her?’ Cuddy said. ‘Sophia looks like she’s getting along with that doctor from peads, Anna might want some company.’
‘She’d rather be alone than talk to me.’ House said, miserably.
‘Go and talk to her.’ Cuddy pushed him towards her.
House really didn’t want to, but he eventually wandered over to where Anna was sitting at the bar having a drink, alone.
‘Hey.’ He said, nodding.
‘Hi.’ She frowned, exhaling and really not wanting to talk to him.
‘You look nice.’
‘You too.’ Anna sighed. ‘We done? Can I go now?’
‘You can, or you can talk to me.’
Anna took a little pity on him and finished her drink, indicating a refill was needed.
‘You went rock climbing,’ House leaned on the bar. ‘How was it?’
‘Rocky.’ She said, thanking the barman for her drink.
‘Are you still playing the piano? Painting?’
‘No.’
‘Why not?’
‘No time.’ She sipped her drink. ‘We done?’
House realised that he just wasn’t going to get anything else from her and nodded. He felt the guilt overwhelm him once again and for some reason the thought of truly losing her was a little too much to handle.
‘You’re supposed to leave at this point.’ She said.
‘I’m still in love with you.’ He blurted out. He didn’t need to look to know she was angry.
Anna didn’t say anything, she just got up and left him at the bar. According to Wilson she left the party soon after he’d spoken to her.

Trail of the Lost
This new book by Andrea Lankford is reviewed by Claire Shang. Here is an excerpt of her review. The book is yet another interesting twist on the Pacific Crest Trail.
How do you find someone who goes missing is the vastness of the Pacific Crest Trail? Andrea Lankford, who led search-and-rescue operations as a National Park Service ranger for 12 years, has a better understanding than most. She knows, for instance, that it's quite difficult to truly disappear: 97% of lost hikers -- alive or dead -- are located within 24 hours, and half of adult hikers are found less than two miles from where they were last seen.
Her attention was therefore caught by a trio of recent lost-hiker cases that has gone cold. Chris Sylvia, Kris Fowler, and David O'Sullivan -- all young unmarried men who disappeared in consecutive years beginning in 2015 -- were among the rare cases of PCT thru-hikers whose bodies were not found. Lankford catalogs the many attempts that she and other have made to resolve these cases. But anyone expecting the straightforward unfolding of a mystery should look elsewhere. Lankford gives us instead the story of a group of searchers "obsessed, each in our own way, until our dogged pursuit for answers jeopardized our livelihoods, our mental stamina, and our health."
Even as she sought the help of law enforcement, Lankford, who retired as a ranger two decades ago, knew to expect bureaucratic obstinance. Missing-person cases complicate the issue of jurisdiction, officers are slow to act on tips and when the subject is an adult male, "law enforcement typically concludes that the guy doesn't want to be found." Further, when hikers go missing in national forests, the responsibility for conducting a search falls on local sheriffs who have little incentive to sink resources into finding presumably dead hikers from other states or countries. (O'Sullivan was an Irish national, and it was months before a local police department claimed his case.)
The three searches, separate but often intertwined, take on a spirit of hardy vigilantism. Facebook groups buzz with leads -- when an image surfaces from a Brazil hospital of an unconscious man who looks like Kris Fowler, a Brazilian thru-hiker volunteers to drive eight hours to see if the patient has Kris's back tattoo. He doesn't, but he is revealed to be a Canadian missing person. Volunteers squint at thousands of drone photographs, flagging backpacks and bones that turn out to be shadows.
In David O'Sullivan's case, Lankford joins the efforts of others, including a former drugstore manager whose thru-hiking aspirations were thwarted by injury. Lankford, whose love of the outdoors was forever tarnish[ed]" by her ranger years, finds the idealism of volunteer searchers heartening. But the very determination displayed by amateurs to bring closure to O'Sullivan's parents at times introduces new setbacks. One self-proclaimed expert brandishes academic credentials and claims his soon-to-be patented dowsing device will locate O'Sullivan through his DNA frequencies. At another point, an "intrusive investigator" offers aid -- but the psychic is unable to identify which boulder is the one from her vision.
Even the searchers unclouded by 'magical thinking' worry whether their efforts are more hurtful than helpful to the families. Lankford herself can't account for the intensity of her commitment. As we learn, each thru-hikers sets off for a different reason. The new, frequently underprepared hikers see the trail "as less a test and more a cure," writes Lankford. Those who search for the missing might also be modeling their behavior on misleading narratives. As one grief counselor notes: "Hollywood movies tell [families] persistence pays off."
Trail of the Lost stumbles along its journey. Lankford has a propensity to overuse the adjective 'cute', and one of the sources she cites is an undergraduate thesis. But one accepts the author's idiosyncrasies because it is hard to imagine who else could have produced a work like this. Her book is a sprawling portrait of an area whose fantastical features practically necessitate the use of metaphor. Above all, this is a profile of two subcultures: hikers and their searchers, who share inconceivable tenacity and sometimes a similar desperation.
We have included stories of missing hikers in the Pacific Crest Trailside Reader: California (2011) and in Crossing Paths (2022). Particularly noteworthy is Ryan Forsythe's story of hiker John Joseph Donovan who was lost in the San Jacintos in 2005 is a fascinating read. Donovan disappearance ultimately saves the lives of Gina Allen and Brandon Day.

There's an increase in emergency department visits for tick bites this time of year as people spend more time outdoors. Increasingly, these bites are linked to illness, everything from Lyme disease to babesiosis. And, there's another emerging risk linked to tick bites known as alpha-gal syndrome, which causes a red meat allergy.
Scientists first connected the dots between red meat allergies and tick bites more than a decade ago, when they identified patients who got allergic reactions such as hives or anaphylaxis after eating beef or pork. Most had been bitten by Lone Star ticks.
Now, doctors' understanding of these allergies has evolved.
"What's new is that we have patients who really just have GI symptoms," explains Dr. Sarah McGill, a gastroenterologist at the University of North Carolina. McGill says some alpha-gal syndrome, or AGS, patients feel sick to their stomachs after they eat red meat, but never develop more typical allergic symptoms, such as a rash, swelling or trouble breathing.

I've been pondering that an "F" sounds like a "TH." That the brilliant editorial staff of the OSP did not catch the error is sad and terrible! Last I spoke to Thurman, he was headed deeper into the path of Helene's destruction. Deliveries to Swannanoa have met the need, so your generous contributions now comfort folks in MORGANTON. Did your American flags become tattered by the storm? If so, I will be collecting them in a box at the Salem Town Hall. Take charge in the health of your children and families. No one else will. Cook real food at home. Choose items from the produce stand and go home and cook them up fresh. Make your children homemade goodies and homemade popped corn. Choose whole grains and vegetables. Stop purchasing soft drinks found everywhere, even at sporting events and concessions. Make homemade lemonade or homemade tea with honey. Get your children to help you in the kitchen. They can make toast, and set and clean up the table. Maybe one of the prayers sent out really resonates with you and you feel you want to pray that one over and over - Great! Maybe you feel led to pray all of them during your prayer time - great! Pray with faith and confidence that if prayed with a faithful and obedient heart, Jesus will make known to our Gracious God, our prayers. Blessings, Sandy Steblin "I exhort first of all that...prayers...and giving of thanks be made for all people, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior." 1 Timothy 2:1-3
Father God Almighty, All of creation including those you have put in power are subject to your desires. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes” (Prov 21:1). Raise up godly men and women for the offices in our government – individuals that will seek Your guidance; Individuals with courage to speak your truth and rule with godliness. Restore courage and conviction in your church to defend our faith and speak out against ungodliness. Open the eyes of the people of our nation. Have them see that putting our hope in anyone but You is futile and misplaced. Our only hope is in you Father God, Amen
“It is not an easy thing to pray. Prayer may be low-tongued, but it cannot be cold tongued. Its words may be few, but they must be on fire. Its feelings may not be impetuous, but they must be white with heat. It is the “effectual fervent prayer” (James 5:16) that influences God.” E.M. Bounds (emphasis is mine)
And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “‘Alleluia! The Lord our God The Almighty exercised his royal power ’” Rev 19:6 CEB
Father God Almighty, the Alpha and Omega, we pray for peace among our people. Forgive us for our ungodly treatment of one another and our focus on worldly rewards – rewards that take us away from You and your Will. Your children cry out to you to fill our nation with a sense of reverent fear of You and a yearning to seek You and know your ways! Breathe a fresh breeze of your Holy Spirit over the political leaders at all levels of our nation. Bring our decision-makers and policy setters to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! Lead us to a renewed time of repentance and seeking Your face! Restore your rightful place in our lives through changed hearts. Oh God, hear your children. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
Lord God, we pray for peace in our nation in the coming weeks surrounding our national elections; we pray for civility, respect for one another, swift and effective response to incidents that would undermine the safety and security of our nation and our people. Our faith is in You Jesus and we will not live in fear or angst for our salvation is assured through the blood of Your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Vote! And Pray! Share Blessings! LRM

Cynicism and Envy
Whenever a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed young person has shown up to a job, such as the emergency department, I have seen other people try to cut them down. People treat them as naive or uneducated. There's an air of "just wait until you learn" that comes across from more experienced people, who are waiting for the new person to stop being so positive and excited about the work. I have been on the receiving end of that poor attitude from the more seasoned people. I have also doled out that attitude towards other a couple of times unfortunately.
When I have been in that mindset--where I am the more experienced person who has experienced disillusionment with a certain environment or job--the things I said in my head when a chipper, new graduate joined us were (imagining that I'm speaking to them):
You are too happy.
You are making me look bad by comparison.
Just wait until you learn.
Not only that, one of the more unspoken thoughts that I, and I think many others in healthcare and other fields, experience is the reminder of where we used to be when we started our respective careers. We used to be as enthusiastic and excited as these new people that we now want to cut down.
What we are really experiencing is two things, the first being envy. However, this one is kind of obvious. The second thing, and the one that is more damning, is that by admitting that the perspective of the bright-eyed newbie is something that we envy and miss, we have to admit that we have let a part of ourselves die. However, the problem here is not just in the death of some ideal fantasy life. That is a two-dimensional take that is not that new. The other dimension of the problem is that people do not let themselves mourn this death. They deny it in some way.
This denial is one form that man's overall desire to "deny death" takes, as Ernest Becker talked about in his book, "The Denial of Death." Becker's take is that mankind is so scared of death that we will find any way to either stop death or to quell the pain of thinking about its possibility. And yet in doing so, he says, we simply welcome death in new ways. For example, by shielding ourselves from the risk of literal death from the elements and the outdoors, we have sequestered ourselves into fluorescently-lit, air-conditioned boxes in a way that spawns books like Fight Club. By realizing we only have a handful of decades to live, we try to become heroes who live valiant lives that spawn stories that make us effectively immortal and legendary. These are more extreme examples of what I'm trying to convey, but it provides a conceptual foundation for what I mean by "death" and the denial of it.
There are many ways in healthcare that death is "denied," both literally and figuratively. This avoidance does welcome unpleasantries and new types of literal or figurative death in new ways. This particular death that I'm talking about is a sinister form of death that comes up whenever we're the older, seasoned professional and we see the young, new person who is "way too happy" or who we think hasn't seen enough but who will soon join us in our misery once they do. The death that this causes us to experience is the death of who we once were. It is partly the death of our dreams, the ones we had when we started school or training for that job. It is the death of the hopeful worldview that we had at 18-, 20-, or 25-years-old. It is also the death of youth, because there is such a stark contrast between their energy and their smile and ours, or our lack of.
The new person makes us experience this death in our minds once again. Every smile is a little death. Every time they treat a patient better than us is a reminder of gap between who we once were and who we currently are. Instead of mourning that loss properly, we direct the unpleasant feelings toward them. It is they who are wrong. Just wait until they learn. By trying to deny the death of our ideal self, we try to kill other people's spirit. Some part of us is refusing this personal death and not addressing it with either proper mourning or admitting that we are not living up to what our self 10 years ago dreamed that we could do and be. Thus, we bring on a new kind of "death."
Proper mourning might involve leaving a certain career. It might involve a more calibrated approach to one's work, though without cynicism but wisdom instead. I say this as an allusion to a Stephen Colbert quote, which states, "Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don’t learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us.”
By rejecting the world as it is, either our disappointment with its current structure or with our current role and day-to-day living in that structure, we are dying in some small way.
Perhaps some things need to die. Perhaps it's the improper mourning of these "healthier" deaths that we incur as we become more seasoned in our respective careers that is the problem. But are we choosing the wrong things that should die? Maybe the average person tends to avoid the bigger, scarier "deaths" in life and yet picks 1000 smaller deaths in its place, like the way they make a big credit card purchase and then end up paying interest on it every month for years? That is a bit off-subject, but it seems like not properly accepting certain deaths will simply transmute that pain in new, sometimes worse ways. The answer to this maybe some mix of healthy mourning and choosing which facet of the self should "die." Maybe it is in either the full acceptance or choosing that we experience the most healthy losses. We can't always choose what happens to us and who or what we lose, since we do not have control over the universe, but we can always choose to mourn it properly and accept it. Everything outside of that, we can choose. We can choose to stay in our job. We can choose to care for this patient in front of us, even if they're being a goofball. We can choose not to scroll mindlessly on our phones for the 4th hour today but can try a new skill that makes us feel kind of dumb and that kills our ego just a bit. Those are the keys to addressing this "loss" and the threat that we feel in the face of not only excellence but any kind of death. The antidote is to choose what we're losing and to fully accept what is lost. It's kind of like the study of the with the two mice who ran on their wheels, where one mouse got to choose when it could run, but the other mouse had to run when the first one did and end up having worse health outcomes. It's about having agency and accepting that which isn't in our control. That is all we have in the universe and is our only real response to the concept of "death." Don't be passive and let the universe have its way. Don't languish just because action is uncomfortable. Fuck entropy. Envy is telling you something about yourself. Choose risk, seek out discomfort, and live your damn life.
One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be determined to make them otherwise.” - F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Crack-Up

[ad_1] By Anjali Sharma NW YORK – According to doctors in New Delhi on Wednesday reported that even as air quality in the national capital fell to the ‘very poor’ category, they reported a 30% surge in respiratory diseases like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. A thick layer of smog enveloped Delhi on Tuesday morning as the city’s air quality deteriorated to the ‘very poor’ category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, 27 monitoring stations in the national capital fell in the red zone, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 317 recorded around 9:00 a.m. The health experts blamed changing weather and pollution levels for the rise in respiratory disease. Children, pregnant women, and the elderly are at the highest risk. Dr. Vikas Maurya, Senior Director and HOD Pulmonology, Fortis Hospital said that as winter is approaching and pollution is increasing with lower AQI, there has been an increase in cases of acute bronchitis and asthma attack. “There has been a 30-40 per cent rise in these respiratory diseases. Pollutants with PM 2.5 and PM 10 along with dust particles and vehicular emissions in increased concentration are causing irritation and inflammation to the airways when inhaled,” Maurya said. Children, the elderly, those with weak immunity, and those with pre-existing lung diseases like asthma, COPD, and cardiac issues are more at risk. These people are more likely to present with symptoms like excessive cough, mucus production, sneezing, chest pain, and breathing problems. Bobby Bhalotra, Prof and senior consultant, Department of Chest Medicine, SGRH said “With the approaching winter season, stubble burning, vehicular exhaust, the pollutants in the air have crossed levels suitable for human health. These toxic gases irritate the lungs, especially of the elderly and asthmatic and COPD patients”. The experts advised people to take precautions, such as wearing masks, and using air purifiers indoors if they are immobile in bed and are in the high-risk category. They called for avoiding outdoor activities when air quality is poor. Dr Vikas Mittal, Pulmonologist, Department of Respiratory Medicine, C K Birla Hospital, told that the asthma cases are also being driven by the seasonal transition and an increase in pollen counts. Allergic rhinitis is also seeing an uptick due to similar triggers, he said. “The current seasonal transition has resulted in fluctuating temperatures, which, alongside high pollen levels, are exacerbating asthma and other respiratory diseases. The conditions are complicating air quality, making it harder for those with pre-existing respiratory conditions to breathe easily,” Mittal said. The hospital is witnessing 20-30 per cent cases of asthma and other respiratory diseases. The experts called on people with lung diseases to take their preventive medication regularly and keep indoor plants air purifiers to keep indoors clean. Bhalotra recommended immediate medical care in case of breathing trouble indicated by fast pulse rate and inability to complete sentences.
