"The man's half insane"
"You're just an insane, unpleasant shell of a man who's merely posing as Blackbeard."
"I should have let the English kill you. This - whatever it is that you've become - is a fate worse than death."
"This is Blackbeard. Not some namby-pamby in a silk gown pining for his boyfriend."
soulmates 🥰
#hello my dudes what IS going on#like no disrespect to con but. watch 01x04. really pay attention to the ed izzy scenes#they grew apart decades ago and are kept together by habit spite and resentment only#stede appearing is what severs the last fragments of whatever connection once existed between them#ed has no need for izzy he just keeps him around - well as it turns out as essentially a really weird form of self harm#so hes more than happy to let izzy go#it's izzy who can't deal with that#and I would think since he's the one who fucking played it like that he'd know#I'm just gonna assume this quote was taken out of context and go on to live in blissfull ignorance#our flag means death#izzy hands

✦ OUTLINE EXCERPT 2.0 ✦
Today we have a different side of the Existential of Magic—whereas he's usually cocky, trying to mess with everyone else, or actively threatening people, we get to see his softer side!
Magic has very few friends—in part to his nature as a god, in part to his generally annoying or trollish personality, and in part to his pickiness in those he interacts with—but he finds certain traits and individuals especially fascinating.
And, if Magic likes them, and he's so amazing, obviously they've got to like him, too!
Right? :D
Regardless, Magic will inject himself into the lives of those they find interesting or want to befriend, often annoying them until they learn to accept him being around... although, if they're obviously displeased with him, he'd lay off and eventually disappear from their lives.
After just a little bit of violence and antagonism.
So, considering all of that... why would Magic be so interested in—and open with—?̷̠̳̣̫͍͊?̴̬̻́̌?̶̱̌͌͑ ?
[the following is an excerpt of an exchange between: the Existential of Magic and ?̷̠̳̣̫͍͊?̴̬̻́̌?̶̱̌͌͑]
Magic: (lightly) "You know, when I woke up, I was confused."
Magic: [sighs softly, but continues) "For so long, I was just there. Drifting around, just kinda watching. Seeing everything else around me... and not realizing I was moving—that I could move."
Magic: "I didn't even know I was thinking. I didn't recognize any of that. Until... one day, I just did."
Magic: [pauses, glancing over to ?̷̠̳̣̫͍͊?̴̬̻́̌?̶̱̌͌͑ and quirking an eyebrow slightly]
Magic: (seriously, but lightly) "do you know what I mean?"
?̷̠̳̣̫͍͊?̴̬̻́̌?̶̱̌͌͑ : [hesitates, then looks away awkwardly. Crosses his arms and stares into space as an excuse not to look at them]
?̷̠̳̣̫͍͊?̴̬̻́̌?̶̱̌͌͑ : (awkwardly) "... vaguely. It sounds familiar. It was a long time ago, though."
Magic: [gives a tiny, bitter smile, though they know he's not looking]
Magic: [turns away to return to their business; speaking lightly) "maybe that was all of us, then. Maybe even the faeries. My people aren't too different from us, you know."
?̷̠̳̣̫͍͊?̴̬̻́̌?̶̱̌͌͑ : [hesitantly looks back to them, uncertain where they're going with this—]
Magic: [shrugging lazily; dismissively) "so. When I woke up, I was very confused. Everyone was already scared of me. Maybe because I'm a god, maybe because I'm the Faewildes, but still—it was lonely. Then the other Existentials..."
Magic: [back still turned to ?̷̠̳̣̫͍͊?̴̬̻́̌?̶̱̌͌͑ , gives a dark, bitter smile]
Magic: [... but shrugs slightly, sighing quietly]
Magic: "They blamed me for the Faewildes' destruction. For what 'I'd' done. Who knows how much I can actually be held responsible for that, but..." [shrugs again, then turns an awkward, sharp-toothed grin to ?̷̠̳̣̫͍͊?̴̬̻́̌?̶̱̌͌͑ ]
Magic: (a hint of bitter amusement in their voice) "It was unfair, don't you think? No matter how responsible I was for what I did as the Faewildes, I wasn't even aware I Existed. I hadn't..." [pauses, face twisting slightly as they look away in frustration] "I hadn't meant to cause that destruction. I didn't know what I was doing."
Magic: [grins lopsidedly, looking back at ?̷̠̳̣̫͍͊?̴̬̻́̌?̶̱̌͌͑ ] "So I understood what it felt like when everyone said Chaos was a monster. Everyone already called me one, so why shouldn't I embrace it?"
Magic: [shrugs overdramatically, flopping their hands outward]
Magic: (dismissively) "so I tried it. But, yknow..." [grins darkly] "... I didn't actually like it that much. Wasn't fun. Never has been, besides when I'm bringing about 'karmic punishment'."
Magic: [dark grin grows all the wider, area twisting around and into them as they swell in size]
Magic: "now, those, are very fun."
Magic: [but sighs heavily, head flopping to the side as they revert the changes to themself and the area around them. Awkwardly turns away again as they return to their business]
Magic: (lightly) "Regardless! 'Evil' really isn't that fun, though it's very useful sometimes. People—fae, humans, and gods alike—have learned to fear me. To respect me, and listen to me."
Magic: [can't help the tiny, dark smile as they look down at their hands and what they're working on]
Magic: (voice light despite their anger) "So I used to be 'evil', to try to {impress Chaos when he wakes up}. And yet..."
Magic: [give a slow, heavy, overdramatic sigh, tilting their head to the side again]
Magic: [finishes, voice overdramatically tragic] "—alas, I think that, somehow, most of the other Existentials have me beaten there."
Magic: [grins darkly—hints of their hatred shining through their eyes—as they look back at ?̷̠̳̣̫͍͊?̴̬̻́̌?̶̱̌͌͑ with a half-shrug]
Magic: (voice amused, though there's an edge to it) "don't you think?"
GUYS IDK HOW TO HANDLE THIS,
DESPITE MAGIC BEING A COMPLETE AND UTTER DOUCHEBAG, THIS MAN'S SOMEHOW MANAGED TO BECOME SYMPATHETIC AND EVEN CUTE AT TIMES?!
THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE EVIL!!!!!

The weight of the world is a heavy burden
Especially for a child
(Or, in slightly less dramatic terms – I imagine that the first of her past lives that Avatar Suiren [who is the Avatar after Aang instead of Korra in my AU, and also Ghazan and Ming-Hua’s daughter] gets to talk to is Yangchen, because she is too plagued by memories not her own [including Jetsun’s death, fun fact]. And Yangchen wouldn’t want another child to go through what she did on their own)
(Or maybe someone just needed an excuse to draw @katkastrofa’s latest obsession in a context that interests them as well, just in time to maybe cheer her up a little? You can’t prove anything)
#my art#artists on tumblr#the legend of korra#Avatar Suiren AU#Kat and Nia and their multiverse of madness#yangchen#original character#sotrl suiren#if you’re wondering what the context is. Suiren is around 8 or 9 here. already having revealed herself as the Avatar to her parents#and it has been Hard. because as much as they try to maintain a sense of normalcy for her. it’s clear that things have changed#they never accounted for their daughter turning out to be the Avatar. they hoped Aang dying on the night she was born to be a coincidence#all of their plans now have to be rethought and put on hold because her safety is more important than anything else#she is never blamed for anything. she is still just as loved. yet there’s now a heaviness in their gazes whenever they look at her#the Avatar as a concept should not exist. it is too much power and responsibility for one being who is ultimately human#that’s what Suiren was taught. so what do those teachings mean if she’s the Avatar?#basically.. a whole lot of cognitive dissonance and she hasn’t even been alive for a decade yet#and all her life her head was filled by strange memories and dreams. fragments of lives not her own. sometimes nightmares#and usually her mama would comfort her through it but tonight… she just wants to be alone#so she wanders off. not too far. but enough that she wouldn’t be heard. and just softly cries#because it’s too much. because she doesn’t want to be the Avatar. why her? why not anyone else?#and as she whispers that she wishes she wasn’t the Avatar. her mind is assaulted by memories of previous Avatars saying the same thing#it really is a never ending cycle of too much burden being placed on a single person. but that realisation is anything but comforting#she begs for it to stop because that grief of life over life spent pushing a boulder uphill is just Too Much#and before she knows it. it ceases. only to be replaced by a blue glow visible even through closed eyelids#and a feather light touch of hands on her face. it doesn’t feel exactly like human hands by virtue of belonging to a spirit#that helps her relax a little. reminding her of mama’s touch. she looks at the person who appeared before her. her mind supplies the name#‘Avatar Yangchen?’. she whispers. but the woman is nowhere near as stoic and peaceful as she’s shown to be in every depiction of her#she looks.. sad. concerned. as burdened by grief as Suiren herself is. she’s not just a legendary figure from a time long gone#not yet another past life Suiren would never measure up to. she’s… human. capable of human emotion. just like Suiren is#I’m not sure how their conversation goes and have no inspiration to come up with anything. but I just wanted to draw them interacting

seven sentence sunday, was tagged by @theladyelizabeth
idk who is actively working on wip's, or comfortable sharing them if they are, but i hope it doesn't offend if i tag @mihrsuri @annabolinas @period-dramallama @boleynism @quillington
Six 7 Sentence Sunday is a writing thing where, on Sunday, you post six 7 sentences from an unfinished work. It can be a new fic, a new chapter of a WIP, or even something you’re not sure you’ll ever post.
Choose an excerpt from any section (and it doesn’t have to be six sentences) and post it, letting people know what it belongs to or indicating that it’s something you’re working on.
People get a preview of what’s coming. You get some feedback on what’s there. If they like it, you might get some reblogs that will generate more interest in your story or you as a writer.

After the second time, he begins to make another excuse: that he struggles to deny his desire for her when they share the same bed. Anne verily doubts this. He is no longer in the virile peak of manhood he once was, while he courted her, and it is more often the opposite: there are times when his desire fails him. Granted, it's not such an implacable failure: it comes back once he remembers them, as their two, as they used to be (those days, in which they had only been each other's). Once they are safely away from the backbiting of court, as they had been this Progress, so he fulfills the promise he once made her; 'to make [her] sing, la renvoyé.'
Desire fails them both, in truth, on those nights when their marital sacrament is strained by the weight of its duty: to have an heir, to secure the succession and safety of their realm, their people. As it all falls…she cannot insist on their shared bed anymore. If Anne did not have to sleep as herself, she would not, either. She can't shame or deny him wanting to sleep apart when she so fully understands why he takes the abstention. She cannot, not when she knows his courage has already been exhausted. Knowing all this, all she can hope for is that the same is not true of his love.
#listening to waiting room phoebe bridgers and CRYIN my eyes out#i'll blame @threesonsofyorks for inspiring me to get these fragments together#anyway this is NT if that's not abundantly clear lol#the context is the next chapter which is possibly why i've been struggling to write it...so emotionally heavy#but it's the miscarriage of 1534 followed by one early 1535#the first is one henry wakes up to and sort of informs his decisions on the rest

the fact that the only way i was able to wrap my head around the timeline origins of beast was because of madoka magica. absolutely ridiculous.
#for context#i realized that the timeline split when oda died#meaning that the dazai in beast IS a fragment of canon dazai#beast dazai created the beast timeline and possibly more out of grief and a desire to save his friend#much like how homura kept reversing the timelines and creating more to find one where she could save madoka#its like that but w/o the lesbian subtext obviously#very platonic subtext here#but do you understand what i mean#bungo stray dogs#bsd#bungo stray dogs beast#beast bsd#bsd beast#dazai beast#odasaku beast

I've actually found a coherent (negative) criticism on Jingli.u's quest!! Wow!! It's in Chinese on weibo
This user said her behaviour is very double standard. That she criticises and condemns both Dan Fen.g and Yingx.ing severely for trying to bring back Bai.heng in any way, but then she goes to visit Bail.u and tells her that seeing her is better than any medicine. And the user is right! That's exactly why they did what they did (well, I've always been of the opinion that Dan Fen.g had more reasons going on based on the in game information), so why the insistent asking to Blade?
The user also says that Jingliu doesn't really behave at all like a friend, that while very believable that she loved and was close to Bai.heng, it's hard to believe the same thing when it comes to Yingxi.ng and Dan Fen.g. They said that nowadays we still see instances through the Xianzhou in which they are both spoken about in positive terms, that Yingxi.ng is talked about as a legendary furnace master, and we can even stumble upon good opinions on Dan Fen.g, but that Jingli.u never shows that kind of understanding for people in theory she loved, knew personally and was close to.
I don't agree entirely with this, I do think there was a lot of fondness from Jingliu shining through despite everything (especially towards Yin.gxing, in my opinion), but I do think it's a somewhat fair criticism. I loved how they mention that despite everything the Xianzhou's view on Yingxin.g and Dan Fen.g isn't just negative. They're right, and it's a detail I love.
#I think these kinds of pseudo incoherences‚ such as Dan Fen.g's and Yingx.ing's acts or even Jingliu being so angry with them#but wanting to see Bai.heng in that echo and then visiting Bail.u‚ actually make a lot of sense in the context of human emotions and acts#I think these paradoxical acts and flaws often add a lot of depth and humanity‚ and tbh they make the characters imo often more believable#But even though I still think it makes sense I do think this time the criticism pointed out some interesting inconsistencies#in Jingliu's characterisation. I loved that they brought up both these subjects and that they didn't have as black and white view#on either Dan Fen.g or Yingxin.g and their acts‚ and that they commented the thing with the Xianzhou. Finally someone else points this out#ngl I've been reading a lot of Chinese opinions on weibo and forums and I like the Chinese fandom a lot more than the western? xD#I agree with a lot of the comments they make. Most of them in fact. Seeing the western twitter fans I expected some other opinions#to be the most expanded among Chinese fans but to my surprise they aren't. I guess the western fans just focus on what they want#Often I agree with the Chinese fans but we come out with different emotions towards the story. Like‚ we reach the same conclusions#But they dislike the characters and writings and I actually like them for the same reasons lol#Like many things around Dan Fen.g#I don't know. I've had a lot of fun reading many of these opinions#Even when they're most callous and show their dislike about the story and characters they are often very clever and fun#As a conclusion of a sort of summary/interpretation of the Xianzhou arc someone said (as negative criticism) something along the lines of#'there's only two normal people in the whole Xianzhou‚ Fu Xua.n and Jing Yu.an' and it made me laugh a lot xD#I talk too much#I should probably delete this later#Traces#Fragments and scraps#Perhaps#There were more things they said/I wanted to comment but I started writing this post‚ got distracted and finished it many hours later#So I think I've forgotten a lot of stuff. I'll try to recall and add them later#Funny thing this time I was looking for opinions on Jing Yua.n and I found everything but that lol

sometimes when I follow up a long rambly sentence with a really short one for comedic effect my brain goes: "Like Zorro."

✦ OUTLINE EXCERPTS ✦
WE ONCE AGAIN HAVE A FUN EXCERPT FEATURING THE EXISTENTIAL OF MAGIC—except, this time, it's with a character who's only been alluded to: Biornys!
Biornys is a mage with reality warping magic; who's hyper-sensitive to the flows of essence, has learned to detect even the subtlest activation of magic, and has been assigned by Magic Themself to research how it works... but for what purpose?
We don't know.
All we do know is they claim "it's to understand their own nature".
... except, Death and Fate seem to act like they know there's more to the research. And, while Death seems concerned about it, Fate—longtime friend of Chaos, destroyer of the Old World—is excited.
[the following is an excerpt of an exchange between: the Existential of Magic and Biornys]
(context: Biornys has just been teleported into Magic's domain, where she most often resides and is most powerful. It's been over 200 years of Biornys "researching magic" on her orders.)
Magic: [smirks as she lays sideways in midair, head propped up by her hand, her other on her hip, and one leg propped up on top of the other's knee]
Magic: (playfully slyly) "ah, {Nickname}, how is your research going?"
Biornys: [hesitates, taking a deep breath and paranoidly scanning their surroundings]
Biornys: (meets her eyes, then speaks slowly and carefully) "... I think I'm finally ready for the next step."
Magic: [grins widely, sitting up, crossing their legs in midair, and bringing their legs together in a clap]
Magic: (voice somewhere between excited—like a kid who just received a present—and sly) "perfect! Let me bring you your next victi—I-I mean—friend!"
Biornys: [stunned silent, but once again paranoidly scanning their surroundings, shoulders tense and hands clenching his cane tight]
Magic: [sighs heavily and overdramatically, dropping one hand to her lap and waving the other in the air dismissively]
Magic: (exasperated) "yes, yes, I'll find us another place. Hold on."
[Biornys and Magic disappear, leaving no trace behind]

Do you think I can ignore the instructions. And not write about one single scene but like the whole movie.
If you couldn’t tell which film I was gonna write about, it’s before sunrise. Which I absolutely love. Which I cannot disrespect and write just one scene because this movie flows as an experience as a whole and cannot be separated into scenes. So like. Do I beg future English teacher not to hate me or choose something else.
I think as long as you include 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 evidence you'll be fine? I refuse to believe that just because you write more than a scene they would discredit the entire thing. Especially if you write it because you are way too good at writing for that
#it doesnt really make sense to write a review for only one scene because youre onyl supposed to show a fragment of the whole story??#adn hence cant fully convey your opinions as it is out of context?#these assignments are so weird.......#traveler in the snow#btw. do you know who MIGHT be teaching eng next year
