I love Hisarya from Geometry for Ocelots with such a passion, girl did not need to go through all that after being treated like how she did. If anyone hasn’t read Geometry by Exurb1a pls do, literally made me fall in love with reading in a way I haven’t in years

Favourite exurb1a quotes
From Poems for the Lost Because I’m Lost Too
“For no other reason than the joy of dancing in the mystery - with the dance as the point all along”
“Humans are ugly and strange and feel things involuntarily”
“On the left is eternity, on the right is eternity, and in the exact centre, that little slither is us, nuzzled between two alwayses”
“...that playing is a hard wired activity to attain hard wired joy”
“Rather that misery and dispair and hoplessness are entirely appropriate responses to a universe where children contract leukemia and large planes carrying good people nose it to the ground”
“I swear you’ll be more glad it happened than sad it didn’t continue”
“Some days I’m convinced that having a body and life is really a lease anyway. Renting carbon,”
“We have now and now is plenty”
“I’m not doing my best but I am doing”

I have to share a youtuber whom i discovered maybe 2 years ago. His videos are a mix of philosophy and science, with many presented as sci-fi stories or contrived scenarios. He also has a few great books, if videos aren't your thing.

"Here comes a lot more future,
I wish us both luck."
hey, happy new year yall. i hope 2024 will be a good year for all of us. as good as it can be. hope can be hard to have, especially in today's world, and i honestly don't have it in me to sincerely believe everything will be alright. but if things don't end up being the worst they could have been, that's good enough for me. some things will be alright. some things will be good. some things will be better.
and i wanted to end this year by quoting my favorite poet, exurb1a:
"I'm not doing my best but I am doing,
Hopefully you are too,
A few days from now we'll be in the future anyway,
I suppose we both are already as of you reading that last sentence,
Oh, and again with this one,
How neat,
Here comes a lot more future,
I wish us both luck."

Solar eclipses are a miracle.
A miracle that will, one day, occur for the last time.
Indeed, the moon is straying away by about one point six inches a year, which means that at some point it won't
be the right size in our sky anymore.
One day, there won't
be another solar eclipse, ever again.
Somewhere in the distant past, one caveman looked at
another. He pointed at a tree, then at a fruit laying down,
broken, on the ground.
This was the first story ever told.
Nowadays, it is trivial to find intricate stories, with
emotionally complex characters, thrilling mysteries and some
of the most real-looking relationships one can conceive of.
We worked together, and made storytelling into a quasi
science.
A talented writer can elicit the greatest emotions from an
audience, and a talented director can do so without a word
spoken.
How far have we come from that fruit falling from a tree?
Hell, now it is also trivial to consume those stories using
computers or smartphones (which really are just small
computers at this point), which are miraculous by design.
We taught rocks how to think using lightning.
If you were to take a human from any point in the past, save
for the last century or so, and show them this technology,
it would be indistinguishable from magic to them.
It would straight up be too much, too complex a concept to
wrap their mind around.
And despite that, we use it maybe not mainly but a lot for
funny cat pictures, memes and porn. In our modern existence,
this miracle is just part of the world, it's just something
that's there and we don't think really much about it, so
long as it works as intended.
And I wonder, when humans in the future will bear witness
upon that last solar eclipse, what will be common knowledge
by then? What technology, indistinguishable from magic to us
would be part of their everyday lives? How much will science
have explained by then? And how much will it have not?
