I hate to say it but I found The Piano Teacher more engaging to watch than Tár
#i mean it isn't about engagement ofc#and tár is absolutely going for a different set of themes and ideas to explore#idk i was just left wont of a lot more and then it ended#again i feel that simply reflects reality#but idk i just found la pianiste was more satisfying despite how horrific some of the subject matter is#again. both films were going for different vibes so idek why on earth im trying to compare them#other than they focus on a music background setting and a person in position of power vs someone less so wishing to gain more power etc#idk. i just wanted a little more from tár. i think i just need to rewatch bc I'm so sad i didn't feel blown away#i must have been a lot more distracted than i thought#like i never checked for the time even once so i KNOW i was engaged but idk i felt so much more could have been resolved or explored#and it never was. whereas it's explored a lot and more elements are resolved in la pianiste#roacc

Shadow High series 3 my new beloved
I didnt even like most of em until i saw them in person, but the knowledge that they'll probably never be in the show has my brain in a "well its free realestate" kinda mood
Random list of information cuz ive been plotting out friend dynamics and background lore
-i like to pretend Rainbow High/Shadow High are actually Rainbow University/Shadow University cuz im in art college Right Now and i think it makes more sense with the whole dorm room situation. And also major makes more sense than focus IMO
-I changed Pinkie's major from film to just undeclared. I think she eventually does land on Film. She just has a lot of interests! Her dream has always been to one day direct films, and I think she comes to love them even more while developing ideas her with the group as she winds up in a Director/Producer position for most of them. BUT also every time she takes a class in a different program she cant help but fall in love with that way of making art too. So she has a hard time picking for a while and changed her major a couple times before landing on Film.
-Pinkie and Berrie bond a lot over a shared interest in vocal synths (tho Berrie knows more about them than her).
-The two made Pinkie's vtuber model together!
-the fandom wiki says PJ is from germany?? Idk how canon that is tbh but ive decided to embrace it i guess
-Rooney's canon name is Scarlet Rose, but i thought it was kinda lame especially when Rosie Redwood is also in this line sooo I renamed her! Stuck to the color name puns tho. Mar Rooney. Maroon. Haha
-Speaking on her though i love that shes from texas and likes writing scifi mystery type stuff and that being said i just Know deep in my bones that she was a Voltron Legendary Defender fan and Keith was/is 100% her favorite. She has a continued fondness for mothman specifically cuz of this.
-PJ and Rooney actually talk about fandom and shows/movies ALL the time. They dont have a ton of overlapping interests, but where they do? The two literally never shut up.
-Rosie is such a random character, like outside of her design she feels very poorly considered. So I scrapped the cosmetology thing and made her an illustrator instead! I think it works better with her love of making art in nature. I can see her being really into illustrated guide books. I think shes a bit snooty when it comes to art too. It takes being friends with other artists to become more open minded.
-I like the idea that Rosie is mainly friends with Rooney and Berrie ontop of that. The three of them often tag team storylines and how theyd interpret them into different mediums. Rosie will draw up a bunch of concept stuff while Rooney writes up a pitch bible and Berrie will start making shit move and throwing in her own ideas on camera angles and character designs.
-as an animation major Berrie was required to take a sound design class early on, which is where she met Oliver! Hes very laid back, and likes to go with the flow, but functions a little like the "mom" of the group. Often reminding the girls to take breaks, drink water, stop looking at their screens lest they get eye strain etc. He's multi-talented tbh but Music is his one true passion and he likes how the girls are always giving him collaboration opportunities.
-Oliver and Rosie like to talk sports a lot, both having played a bunch when they were younger and throughout high school.
-Lavender Lynn is Oliver's number one "person who needs constant reminders to settle down" she is in a constant buzz of trying to get the best shots and is utterly obsessed with the process of artistic documentation. Everything must be documented.
-the whole school loves her for this actually, she has a whole side gig where other students hire her to help photograph their projects. She saves everything she earns from this for her future dream plans to visit paris. She has it set really, many of the artists who she helps photograph now will remain steadfast clients of hers forever onward.
-PJ and Lynn actually took a print media class together at one point. Which didnt at the time spark an everlasting friendship. But it did give PJ an easier in to ask for Lynn's help documenting a project the group was working on. One of Lynn's first times photographing them work happened to fall on a day where Rosie had planned to trick everyone into going on a nature walk sans devices... Lynn wound up really appreciating this outing and decided to continue hanging around the group even after that project had ended.
#shadow high#rainbow high#my art#fanart#i had to write down all my ideas just to get them outta my head#now im free

GrojBand Comeback Tour - Carrie Beff
Support me over at Patreon: www.patreon.com/skulljackxiii
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Note: There was nothing much except that she's just an empty counterpart to Corey, or at least that's what I thought at first, but looking at the show I realized that Carrie does have some traits of her own. It shows that Carrie can be composed and thought provoking see how she's able to write her own lyrics despite the bizarre situation she's in, and she's quite the loving person seeing how openly friendly she is with her sister and how she shows annoyance with Trina's bad behavior. But there's never a good take as to why she's so focused on GrojBand and the need to prove that her band is better. So in this I'll make it so that Carrie's trajectory in life is to be the obstacle in front of GrojBand and be their bitter rivals, that way Corey would have no choice but to put all of his focus on Carrie herself. That's right, Carrie was once in the same spot as Laney, but unlike her Carrie put more thought in her position and knew that Corey would never look at her intently just being his friend, so she took matters in her own hands and set the stage where she could stand on equal footing as him. When interacting with one another, its usually teasing and light banter between the two; it's never mean-spirited or hostile like it is between Kin and Kim. But you can sense underlying hostility when she converse with Laney, for unspoken reasons.)
Role: Carrie is the key member of the Newmans, taking the role as the leader, frontman, and lead guitar; juggling all this she's often seen by her fanbase and friends as the face of the band. Along side that, she also maintains the position as the talent manager, making sure that everyone is okay and is up to parr when getting ready to perform.
Outside band related matters, Carrie is forced the difficult task of being Trina's one true friend (reluctantly); always making sure that she's in a good mood for the sake of her sister and that band's financial benefit since Trina uses her college funds on their expenses. Trina chooses to open up and get close to only Carrie since she's one of the most popular people around and (she thinks) has hatred towards GrojBand like her. On the other hand, Carrie despises everything about Trina; from how she treats her sister to always interfering with GrojBand's performances.
Bio: Looking back before how she is now, Carrie was much like her sister at the start. She was someone who just blended in the background where no one notices that she's there. But because she doesn't have the same intelligence and academic prowess like her sister, her insecurities was routed more deeply than Minas'; there was nothing that she could claim that was hers' alone. But her first year in middle school would change all that when she meets Corey Riffin, someone that wants to make everyone's lives a lot more brighter and exciting. Seeing how alone and sad Carrie was all the time, he decided that he wanted to help her out and give her the best remedy to her pain, music. At first she was reluctant and declined, but she couldn't resist his persistence and his good will towards her. When she started playing and singing, she felt awkward and embarrassed, but seeing Corey listen intently caused her to be less stressed and be more relaxed. As she continued, she began to get more enrolled in the music and more expressive in her performance, after that it was in that moment Carrie finally found something that she could be happy to do.
Of course it was then that she also felt immense gratitude and happiness for Corey being such an amazing friend; from then on all throughout middle school the two became a close pair that played their music anywhere and everywhere they went. But as she continued being by his side, she eventually realized her feeling were changing; her gratitude would turn into something much more, as she became more and more in awe of the influence, creativity, and confidence that Corey extruded no matter where he went. She knew that she wanted to convey how she really felt, but worries that it may ruin her best friendship. She didn't know what to do, but after a while she finally collected her thoughts and made a proclamation towards Corey. Though she wanted to stay by his side, she knew deep down that the only way that he would look at her seriously is when she stood on the same level as him and push forward as her own musician. After hearing this, Corey wasn't either mad or upset for this decisions but was rather excited to hear that Carrie was branching off on her own and become his rival, that way both of them can elevate each other to be better musicians. From then on both agreed that after reaching high school, they'll go out and form their own band to prove who's truly on top in the music genre.

Kover It Up Vol. 5 - New York Groove
Hello, Russ Ballard, Kiss. As soon as one even mentally pronounces this chain of associations, the bell should ring for every halfway educated Kissalomaniac that one is dealing with a definitive key figure for Kiss kover songs. Songs that were written by Russ Ballard, and that Kiss or their closer associates have reinterpreted and recorded, mind you.
All in all, this has resulted in a total of five tracks (1), respectively two of which Ace has tackled more or less on his own. And today, of course, we want to talk about the very first one, namely nothing other than New York Groove from Ace's first solo album from 1978 (2). And as is well known, it was Eddie Kramer who persuaded Ace to cover this song, which the latter will probably have learned to appreciate over time.
But let's get down to business.
Hello's version of this NY vision sounds a little as if Chris Norman, in his best Smokie days, had been forced by strict medical prescription to spare his vocal chords as much as possible and not to sing but only to whisper. Such an idiosyncratic decision lends the music a determinedly passive, but nonetheless equally commanding and energetic effect, which is only reinforced by the unusually light, but all the more confident harmonic flow of the background chorus, pushing itself rhythmically into the mix and taking the song to a higher level overall.
What Ace and Eddie cooked up together for their part doesn't sound that dissimilar at all. They certainly didn't reinvent the song (as one could later claim of 2000 Man), and which Eddie Kramer definitely didn't set out to do, but made it just a bit more straightforward and, above all, designed it all around Ace. And that's exactly the key, an emotionally intelligent focus on Ace, his voice, and his person, because that's what this is all about here: The humanization of a rock n' roll alien from the craziest rock band in the world to that point.
The guitars at the beginning are comfortably reminiscent of a quirky Swedish children's television series from the 70s (3) and create, at least in me, a warm-hearted and positively charged energy that, thanks to Ace's charm, doesn't intend to get lost again throughout the entire song. His imperfect voice sounds somewhat tight, thanks to doubling and whatever studio gimmick, and saturated enough, and at the same time left with enough room to be nothing but himself, which brings song and mood to life, and even works to his advantage lead vocally. Is there anyone else here besides me who is also reminded of Peter Criss and Beth? I mean in principle.
Be that as it may, to conclude with a brief mention of Ace's solo playing. Its production seems surprisingly thin and used just as sparingly, but staged in an all the more lively manner, which really puts the finishing touches to this simple but equally gorgeous piece of good-feeling music. And here it is, an urban anthem for the people to believe in, presented by a true New Yorker for all New Yorkers, and of course everyone else too.
More authentic than the original.
Side Note:
(1) New York Groove on Ace Frehley (1978), Some Kinda Hurricane and Let Me Rock You on Peter Criss' eponymous Let Me Rock You (1982), Into the Night from Frehley's Comet's debut (1987), and last but not least Kiss' real last smash God Gave Rock n' Roll to You II (1991).
(2) Incidentally, I have no idea whether the Ace and Peter songs from the 80s are actual cover versions or just purchased tracks without a previous release. I just threw it out there because it fits so well, and what do you do for a halfway successful introduction?
(3) Karlson on the Roof (1974) by Astrid Lindgren.

Hey micaaa, i just finished IWTV thanks to your passionate blog work on the show and I remember seeing you answer an ask about your thoughts on the second season but i didnt read it to not spoil myself and now i cant find it 😭😭😭 would be grateful if you could help a gal out xxx
Hi babe! So either I never answered an ask like that or its been lost to the bowels of tumblr, but that's ok because this is an ask! and I can share my thoughts here! And my thoughts are... mixed but overall positive. I will expand under the cut.
When I watched the first episode of the new season, I called my sister immediately and said, don't worry, they've done it, it's just as good as it ever was. Now I'm not sure I would say it's just as good as it ever was, (I have things to criticism this season whereas last season I really had not a single bad thing to say about the show at all) but it's still at a level of acting, writing, set and music and costume design, and thematic depth that I think is hard to find anywhere else on television. Complement sandwich coming up!
The acting, music, sets, costumes: this show is the opulent gothic romance I've spent my whole life craving and modern media not giving to me. (Fire emerald fenel or whatever her name is immediately and hire this team for wuthering heights or i riot). As in season one, there is a level of cohesion, thoughtfulness, detail, and sheer skill that goes into every element of this show that makes it just a joy to watch. Jacob Anderson is a revelation, and he's got a team that is on his level.
I agree that the pacing is not as good this season. In season one, I felt that each episode was its own distinct chapter in the story with it's own distinct arc, and I have to admit that I'm biased toward that sort of clearly structured storytelling when it comes to television. (It's television! It's got episodes for a reason!) For example, I thought the San Francisco episode was one of the best of the season, and I think that's because it's (sort of) a bottle episode, and because it's about the complicated dynamics between just a few characters, so it has that tight focus that other episodes in the season were lacking. I get the inclusion of hallucistat because I, too, missed the explosion of chemistry that is jacob and sam playing off each other. However I felt that there were times he was overused or unnecessary, and in some of the later episodes it felt like the writers worried their audience would get bored. I thought that it took a while to get a direction on what the dubai portions of the show were doing (rather than them just being a tool to enable story digressions, like the lestat/armand backstory). For as significant as they are, we really learn nothing at all about the coven aside from santiago (ben daniels u were having SO much fun, weren't you?). And it makes their betrayal, their plotting, and their deaths less interesting when they're just background costume hangers. (And it's disappointing when I think of how well other minor characters are sketched out in equally small screen time other places in the show.) Similarly I think that the last episode confrontation was underwhelming--maybe we needed an episode for the dubai climax and for the backstory climax?
(Not really a criticism here, just givng my personal opinion that despite what the actors are saying I have a hard time believing 100% in the louis/lestat reunion. We've never seen anything so far in the show not narrated by someone else (or directly experienced by daniel) so I have a hard time seeing it as "the truth" (what does that even mean in a show like this?) but instead as a version of the truth filtered through Daniel's imaginings, for his story's conclusion. But that's just my interpretation!)
(Also not really a criticism of the show but the fan experience hasn't been as fun this season. Last season everyone I followed was a fun little bubble against the wider fandom, this season the mutchies are at each others throats lol I of course stand alone as always being correct (in the secret takes I text my sister), everyone else is correct sometimes and incorrect others, or even both correct at the same time although they wouldnt like to hear it)
Final compliment! Theme: This show remains one of the best, most nuanced, and most empathetic portrayals of abuse that I have ever seen on tv. It's the gothic! It knows what its about! And what it's about is the way that people can both love you and hurt you, or want to control you, or be cruel to you, or damage you by loving you in a harmful way. It shows how abuse can use the structures of race, gender, age, and family, to trap a person, manipulate them, and control them. It shows how society aids abusers and punishes victims through these same structures. It shows how trauma can fracture a person's understanding of themselves, and of their own memories and experiences. And it says, with relationships and emotions this complex, there are always going to be new perspectives on what happened--even between a person and themself there are different versions of the truth. There are no easy answers, there are no one-size-fits-all truths in this story. The complexity of the emotions victims of abuse, the love and rage and fear, the gratitude and resentment, they feel toward their abusers are all present without the writing using these emotions to judge or vilify the characters. It manages to be empathetic in its writing of perpetrators, without demanding "forgiveness" from the victims or excusing/minimizing the abuse. (I know some people have different opinions on how successful the show is on this topic, I fall into the camp of thinking this is what the show does best--allow multiple complicated feelings and perspectives to be true at the same time). I think constantly about one of the showrunners quotes where they said (im misquoting) that is the gift of immortality and maybe also its curse--you always have time to try again, to get it right this time. Which is in many ways the allure and the curse of family--people you can't shake. People you can't escape. Immortality and memory and trauma as time loops. This show is so fucking good.
#im not tagging this ill get jumped#i dont think i said a single controversial thing but this fandom is batshit (i mean. its anne rice. it was always gonna be batshit)#anyway im really looking forward to season 3#i have a lot of faith in the show runners doing SOMETHING interesting and smart even if i'm not sure (as not a book reader) what that will#anyWAY. my opinions <3#thanks for asking babe!

WINX CLUB: MY FIRST OBSESSION 🧚♀️✨
Reasons why I still love it and I think it holds up as a good show to this day!
Characters & Design: One thing I love about about the design of the animation is how Iginio Straffi decided to use proper Italian designers to style the character's clothes!! The girls looked like fashion design sketches come to life on the screen ( also explaining how unrealistic their body proportions are). To this day the fashion inspires me, so many bright patterns and colour paired with celebrity fashion of the early 2000s. I also love how much care and detail was put into each character in season 1-4, I refuse to talk about any other seasons. They all had their own signature colours and symbols, such as Flora's floral patterns representing her sweet and gentle nature or Musa's clef symbolising her love for music. This really emphasised to me how fashion can be an outwards representation of your soul and who you are. I also love how there wasn't an emphasis on making them look 'modest' because in this fantastical, perfect world there weren't any creeps to sexualise them. I think what sets this show apart from other kids shows at the time was how femininity wasn't demonised, the characters were able to care about fashion, makeup and boys while still having strong personalities and being powerful. There's a connotation that a girl had to 'act like a man' in order to be closer to strength and power but this cast proved the opposite; although more masculine characters were represented such as Tecna, the girls were still represented as equal.
Another positive on the casting I think, was the diversity in the first few seasons. Cartoons are known for being the worst for lack of diversity and at this time there were very few different races and ethnic backgrounds being represented other than white and American. In Winx, Musa's planet 'Melody' is a representation of China and she explores this through the grief of her dead mother, Matlin. Representation in media is important as it decreases stigmatisation in the real world, creating less ignorance towards people who are different to us. Especially when kids are exposed to harmful stereotypes, representation is simply a form of cultural education. I think Winx did this successfully ! I also think it is important to note that even the 'villains' aka the witches weren't left out with the fashion detail, and as characters they were shown to be more naughty than they were evil, unlike characters such as Valtor. ( Valtor is so hot though ok) Making the witches seem just as cool and trendy as the fairies, instead of demonising alternative fashion and individuals.
Setting & Plot: The setting of Alfea was so perfect to me, it was the epitome of girlhood as was most of the show. The mix of fantasy with sci-fi was very unique and was representative of the harmony between the girls' both brains (being the futuristic technology such as the hover cars) and beauty ( being the colourful decorated buildings). I absolutely love 2D animation in general over 3D, it's a literal drawing on paper come to life which makes it appear more alike art than trying to be alike real life. The world building I thought had so much love put into it, how the girls each came from a different planet with its own customs and traditions aka culture and it all came together so naturally as one big universe. The focus on representing many features of our own Earth in the show only made the showcase of unity and community more applicable to our own lives and therefore inspiring.
As for the plot, the same idea applies. The show was originally directed at an audience of tween girls, many times their intelligence was undermined and producers would convey a very surface-level plot with many adversity plots being centred around stereotyped ideas of what young girls worry about. For example things Stella worries about in many scenes, although the contrast lies within these things being insignificant to the overall plot. In this way, these common worries aren't minimised but young girls are shown to have more complexity to them which they realistically do. Such as when Stella found out Brandon wasn't really a Prince and she didn't care. Each fairy having their own personality itself showed that the girls weren't being dehumanised or, defairytised as harmful stereotypes of the docile, or shallow, tween. Another important feature many shows savour for adult shows is character building! It is just as effective and arguably more important in childrens shows to convey realism in the way humans are able to grow and change. Many of the girls such as Bloom are shown to have difficulties within their family or with self-image, real concerns for young girls. This affords the characters a complexity and relatability factor appealing to real girls who can see themselves within a fairy and their struggle.
I don't think 'adult topics' should be limited towards children shows, I've realised the entirety of my favourite children shows do explore these topics. This is because these topics such as grief or trauma realistically don't just impact adults but children too, only in a different manner. This is how it should be represented within children's media too, in an age appropriate manner while also respecting the intelligence of children. We too often depreciate the depths of what children feel and know and at their age they don't have the complex words to describe it, rather they immitate the words and actions of role models. Role models are also able to be within media, representation within characters of their own age showcasing a healthy way to deal or communicate with what they experience or feel is a positive way to aid children on a mass scale. Overall I very much appreciated this about the plots of Winx, it is a shame from season 5 they changed their demographic to a younger audience and dropped the complex plots as that is what attracted me so much to the show.
My favourite character: Since I was a little girl it was always Flora, I think it was mostly because I saw myself in her not just through appearance but through her shyness, sensitivity and genuine care for others. Although I have grown these are still core parts of who I am, feeling responsibility for others and having to mature fast due to expectations placed on me as an older sibling. As well as the desire to connect to nature, that has only grown in me as I grow up and realise how the modern way of life is so disconnected from it. When I am under the trees or laying in a bed of grass or atop a body of water it's a feeling of rejuvenation I can't seem to recreate anywhere else. Now my ideal life would be to live within the countryside on a little farm planting fruit, veg and flowers. I think my connection with Flora was indicative of what means the most to me in my core as it has only flourished with time. Her relationship with Helia being so gentle, with him gifting her a poem speaks to what I've realised I deserve too although... my wants are a little messy. It might seem juvenile to think so deeply about Flora's relevance to myself but I think it's important in understanding yourself to figure out what about something or someone made you so attached to it/ them, before life got confusing. So I think there's something in going back to things that magnetised you before you even developed a sense of self, it helps me at least in understanding myself. I also loved her outfits duh!

✨ Developing air energy ✨
You can refer to my old post as to why am I writing this
Core essence
First let's know what is developed air energy, it simply means if u have air energy in ur birthchart u r handling or channeling it in a beneficial/appropriate/useful way rather than being overwhelmed and falling prey to mishandling.
Air energy is very potent and not knowing how to utilize it will create a personal type of hell for the individual. Air energy is intelligent, transcendental, creative and communicative. It's (or the individual possessing it) supposed to guide the world or at least the individual to the desired direction
Signs of underdeveloped air energy
Overthinking / Indecisivenese
Air energy is all in the mind or brain so individuals tend to have lotta overthinking, countless thoughts of past, present and future this can further lead to anxiety and later on depression ( if u didn't know depression is a result of suppressed or extreme anxiety)
Coffee/Caffeine/ substance addictions
Individuals often are drawn to substances and addiction simply because of the calming or brain shutting down effect it has. All signs can be addicted just different reasons for air signs it's the silence of thoughts for a moment. In case of caffeine (which too is a drug btw) it's the energy boost given to the overrunning brain so now it can overrun for a while with energy and hence the individual gets addicted as they are already used to overrunning mind and find that energy comforting so it's like an upgrade for them.
Music addiction
Underdeveloped air signs are not used to calm so they constantly need somthing in the background to feel at home cuz for them it's the default setting hence comfortable. They often get overstimulated by music still they don't seem to stop cuz of the dopamine effects on brain. In moderation music helps them express their feelings but overlistening is a sign of underdeveloped energy.
Mindless scrolling / Binge watching
Air signs love to scroll and fill up their mind with tons of info even if it's garbage
Zero attention span
Due to lots of scattered energy underdeveloped air energy can't just focus and stick to one thought or opinion as there are multiple other racing thoughts in the mind.
Other signs may include gossiping, nonsense yapping, shallow breathing patterns, forgetting to eat, unconscious eating, etc.

Pairing and 2 AUs: Jazz/Megatron (because I am predictable) or Megatron/Nickel (because it would be fun) - you choose.
Either way for AUs:
(a) fae, or
(b) academia (not a college AU, but the sort of thing where all the focus is on the professorial types - Oxbridge SCR/David Lodge style New Uni struggles/whatever)
I have basically zero knowledge of anything fae-related (it's not a cultural feature here), so by default I have to pick option B, but with the disclaimer that I don't recognize any of the the names you mentioned (beyond that Oxbridge is a portmanteau of Oxford and Cambridge).
Also, further disclaimer, as uni admin staff, my feelings towards faculty are... complicated at best.
This one is difficult to assemble.
The trick is finding departments where any of them would come into contact with each other.
I will make the following assumptions:
They are still robots in a Cybertronian cultural context.
We're using a loosely IDW1 continuity.
Academia on Cybertron functions at least somewhat similarly to real-world. I am using the US context because that's what I know, but I realize this is not universal. I.E. I'm using similar positions, academic divisions, fields of study, and issues.
The best I'm coming up with is if Nickel works with some department of Population Health (to keep in line with her medical background) and if Megatron were brought it in from a more statistics-based humanities (what would a Cybertronian equivalent be?) department (demography, social statistics, labor studies, etc.) for a data consult.
Jazz would almost certainly be working with a music and/or dance department. He probably even has a dual appointment.
Finding a department fit for Megatron is very difficult.
The bigger struggle is "who let Megatron into a university? who let him graduate and get a job?" because he would butt right up against the systemic discrimination against working class grad students and likely be forced out via dubiously legal black-balling from faculty not approving projects and/or requiring him to pay for mandatory activities and conferences out of pocket.
In a Cybertronian context, the biases against manual class mechs, even post-Zeta lifting fanatical functionism, would function similarly to the real-world working class bias, along with the black-balling probably actually being more overtly allowed.
I'm also struggling to see him actively choosing to work in academic environments, but the spite of "I am going to go be an asshole and do it anyway" is a good motive for him.
Alright, I've got two options:
Jazz/Megatron - Jazz with his dual appointment and Megatron having a tentative appointment in labor studies doing cross-disciplinary research on music's (and dance's) role in labor movements. This would also allow them to both draw on their strengths and experiences to reach a common ground.
Nickel/Megatron - Nickel requiring outside assistance to set up and account for certain social variables for a new project that is part of a government research grant and the only one available from the appropriate statistical or demographic department is Megatron. The focus would be their struggle to mesh their terse and obstinate personalities to actually work together and complete the project and keep that sweet, sweet grant funding.
Both actually have a lot more potential than I would have thought before noodling it through. It's hard to pick, but I think I'm actually going to choose option 1: Jazz/Megatron.
I think it could be a solid 10k or under one-shot. However, I wouldn't want to actually parallel too many real-world issues, so this is something I wouldn't ever actually write.
Title: Building Bridges
The description is already a good loose summary.

Corporate New Year Gifts in India: Budget-Friendly Ideas for 2025
Why New Year Gifts Are Crucial for Corporate Relationships
Corporate New Year gifts are more than just tokens of appreciation. They represent the values of your organization and demonstrate goodwill, fostering long-lasting relationships with employees and clients alike.
Strengthening Bonds with Clients
A thoughtful gift reinforces your partnership, showing clients that they’re valued beyond just business transactions. Items like personalized stationery or premium hampers can make a lasting impression.
Boosting Employee Morale
Recognizing employees with small yet meaningful gifts boosts morale and loyalty. Whether it’s a desk accessory or a wellness kit, these gestures show you care.
Enhancing Brand Image
Well-chosen gifts aligned with your company’s values can act as subtle marketing tools, enhancing your brand image and making your organization memorable.
Key Trends in Corporate Gifting for 2025
As we approach 2025, corporate gifting trends reflect changing consumer preferences and societal priorities. Companies are now focusing on creating memorable experiences while emphasizing sustainability, personalization, and technological innovation.
Focus on Sustainability
Sustainability remains a top priority in corporate gifting. Businesses are increasingly opting for eco-friendly products like bamboo organizers, reusable water bottles, and biodegradable gift wrapping to reduce environmental impact.
Personalization as a Priority
Customized gifts, such as engraved keychains, personalized mugs, or branded apparel, show an extra level of care and attention. Personalization enhances the emotional connection, making recipients feel truly valued.
Technology-Integrated Gifts
With technology playing a pivotal role in modern life, smart gadgets like portable chargers, wireless headphones, and smart home devices are trending. These gifts are practical and appeal to a tech-savvy audience.
Budget-Friendly Corporate Gift Ideas
Finding the perfect gift that fits your budget and leaves a lasting impression can be challenging. Here’s a curated list of affordable yet impactful corporate gift ideas.
Eco-Friendly Gift Options
Reusable Notebooks and Planners: These are perfect for professionals who value both functionality and sustainability.
Bamboo Desk Accessories: Products like pen stands, coasters, and organizers add a touch of nature to any workspace.
Personalized Gifts
Customized Calendars and Diaries: Add your company logo or motivational quotes for a unique touch.
Engraved Pens and Keychains: Small yet thoughtful, these items combine practicality with sentimentality.
Food and Beverage Hampers
Artisanal Tea and Coffee Sets: Premium beverages with unique flavors make excellent gifts for clients and employees.
Healthy Snack Boxes: Packed with dry fruits, granola bars, and other nutritious items, these are great for promoting wellness.
Affordable Technology Gifts
Portable Power Banks: Compact and useful, these are ideal for professionals constantly on the go.
Compact Bluetooth Speakers: Small yet powerful, these speakers are perfect for adding some music to downtime.
How to Choose the Perfect Corporate Gift
Choosing the right gift requires thoughtful consideration. Here are key factors to keep in mind:
Understanding Your Recipient
Tailor your gifts to the recipient’s preferences and cultural background. A one-size-fits-all approach often lacks the personal touch that makes a gift truly meaningful.
Balancing Budget with Impact
It’s essential to strike a balance between affordability and value. Investing in high-quality, budget-friendly options ensures your gift leaves a positive impression without overspending.
Aligning Gifts with Brand Values
Select gifts that resonate with your company’s ethos. For example, an eco-conscious brand might prioritize sustainable products, while a tech company could lean toward gadgets.
Best Practices for Corporate Gifting in India
Ensuring your gifts are well-received involves more than just selecting the right items. Follow these best practices to elevate your gifting strategy:
Timing Your Gift Delivery
Delivering gifts early in the New Year creates a positive start and avoids the holiday rush. Plan ahead to ensure timely distribution.
Including a Personal Touch
A handwritten note or personalized message goes a long way in making recipients feel appreciated. This small gesture adds immense value to your gift.
Ensuring Quality Control
Always choose reliable suppliers and inspect products for quality. Substandard gifts can harm your brand image and relationships.
Where to Source Corporate Gifts in India
Sourcing high-quality, budget-friendly gifts is easier than ever, thanks to a mix of online platforms and local markets.
Local Artisans and Small Businesses
Support local artisans by purchasing handcrafted items like pottery, textiles, and wooden products. These unique gifts also help promote Indian craftsmanship.
Online Platforms for Affordable Gifting
E-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and dedicated gifting websites offer a wide range of corporate gifts. Look for bulk discounts and festive deals.
Bulk Orders from Wholesale Suppliers
For larger organizations, wholesalers provide cost-effective options without compromising on quality. Negotiate deals to maximize savings.
Conclusion: Celebrating New Year with Thoughtful Corporate Gifts
Corporate gifting is more than a tradition; it’s an opportunity to nurture relationships, show gratitude, and reinforce your brand’s values. By choosing meaningful, budget-friendly gifts that resonate with recipients, you can start the New Year on a positive note.

Creating the Perfect Music Studio: Your Path to Success
Setting up a music studio at home is an exciting step toward unleashing your creative potential. Whether you’re an aspiring music artist or someone with years of experience, having your own studio gives you control over your music production process. With today’s technology and resources, it's easier than ever to create a professional-quality studio at home.
The process involves more than just purchasing equipment; it requires strategic planning, soundproofing, and a thoughtful selection of tools to maximize your output. Here’s a detailed guide to building your dream studio.
Understanding How to Create a Studio
The first step to building a home studio is to understand the basics of how to create a studio that meets your needs. Start by selecting the right location in your home. A dedicated space that minimizes external noise is crucial for achieving pristine sound quality. Rooms with irregular shapes or lots of furniture can help diffuse sound, which is ideal for recording.
Acoustic treatment is another key consideration. Install soundproofing materials like foam panels, bass traps, and diffusers to control the acoustics and reduce echo. This not only improves the quality of your recordings but also ensures that you don’t disturb others in your household or neighborhood.
Lighting also plays a big role in creating an inspiring atmosphere. Choose adjustable lighting options to set the mood for long hours of creative work.
Setting Up Your Microphone Studio Setup
Once your space is ready, focus on assembling your microphone studio setup. The microphone is arguably the heart of any music studio. Condenser microphones are typically recommended for vocals due to their sensitivity and ability to capture subtle nuances. On the other hand, dynamic microphones work well for live performances or recording instruments with high sound pressure levels.
Complement your microphone with accessories like a sturdy mic stand, pop filters, and a shock mount. These tools minimize background noise, vibrations, and plosive sounds, ensuring cleaner recordings. Place your microphone at a suitable height and angle to capture your voice or instrument at its best. Testing various placements can help you find the optimal position.
Don’t forget to invest in a good-quality audio interface to connect your microphone to your computer. This device converts analog signals to digital audio, which is essential for high-quality recordings.
Selecting the Best Mics to Record Vocals
Choosing the best mics to record vocals can make or break the quality of your recordings. The right microphone depends on your specific needs and budget. For instance, large-diaphragm condenser microphones are ideal for studio vocals because they pick up even the smallest details of your performance.
Brands like Neumann, Audio-Technica, and Shure are known for their reliable and high-performance microphones. Before purchasing, read reviews and test different options to find the best fit for your voice or instrument. Don’t overlook the importance of durability and build quality, especially if you plan to use your equipment extensively.
Using Tools to Identify Music
A unique challenge that many artists face is identifying the source of a particular sound or song they want to reference. Thankfully, technology now allows you to upload a song to find the name and pinpoint its details. This is especially useful for discovering samples or understanding the compositions that inspire you. These tools streamline your creative process, saving time and effort in tracking down music.
Creating a Productive Environment
Beyond equipment, the ambiance of your studio plays a significant role in fostering creativity. Keep your workspace organized by using cable management solutions and shelving units. An uncluttered space reduces stress and allows you to focus entirely on your craft.
Adding personal touches like posters, mood lighting, and even a comfortable chair can make your studio feel like a sanctuary. Remember, a comfortable and inspiring environment enhances productivity and helps sustain long recording sessions.
Conclusion
Building a music studio at home is an empowering journey that brings your artistic vision to life. By learning how to create a studio, investing in a quality microphone studio setup, and choosing the best mics to record vocals, you’re setting yourself up for success. Additionally, tools that let you upload a song to find the name add convenience and inspiration to your workflow. As a music artist, your home studio becomes the foundation for your creativity and expression.

Spotify’s Innovations and Why It Stands Out
Over the past decade, music streaming has transformed the way we consume and share music. Among all streaming services, Spotify has risen as the undisputed leader, redefining the digital music experience. From offering millions of songs to delivering podcasts, Spotify constantly innovates to meet its users’ needs. With features like curated playlists, algorithm-driven recommendations, and exclusive content, the platform stands out as a pioneer in the industry. So, what makes Spotify unique in a competitive market? Let’s explore its innovative features, groundbreaking partnerships, and unmatched impact on the global music industry.
Spotify’s Humble Beginnings
To understand Spotify’s innovations, it’s essential to look at its roots. When was Spotify launched? The platform officially launched in 2008 in Sweden, offering users a legal alternative to illegal downloads that were rampant at the time. Its primary mission was simple yet revolutionary: provide listeners with easy, legal access to music while supporting artists and creators.
Before Spotify, people relied heavily on physical albums, CDs, and illegal file-sharing platforms. The ability to stream music instantly without downloads was a game-changer. By using a freemium model—offering free access to users alongside premium subscriptions—Spotify attracted a massive audience almost instantly. This strategy not only disrupted the traditional music business but also influenced competitors to adopt similar models.
The Joe Rogan Spotify Deal: A Bold Move
Spotify didn’t stop at music; it ventured into podcasting to cater to diverse audio content enthusiasts. One of its most groundbreaking moments was the Joe Rogan Spotify deal. In 2020, Spotify acquired exclusive streaming rights to The Joe Rogan Experience, one of the most popular podcasts globally.
The deal, reportedly worth over $100 million, turned heads across the media industry. Not only did this partnership solidify Spotify’s position in the podcasting space, but it also attracted millions of new subscribers. The exclusive content brought a new wave of listeners who began viewing Spotify as more than just a music platform.
This bold move showcased Spotify’s strategy to diversify its offerings and elevate itself above its competitors. By investing in exclusive deals and podcast creators, the company successfully positioned itself as the go-to platform for all audio content.
Curated Playlists and Music Personalization
One of Spotify’s most unique and celebrated features is its focus on personalization. Unlike other platforms that offer static song lists, Spotify excels at tailoring content to individual tastes. Playlists like Discover Weekly, Release Radar, and Daily Mixes reflect the platform’s ability to analyze users’ listening habits.
Spotify’s algorithm uses machine learning and AI to recommend tracks that resonate with users. This innovation not only enhances user satisfaction but also helps listeners discover emerging artists and new genres. Curated playlists have become a vital part of the Spotify experience, with Discover Weekly alone generating billions of streams annually.
Moreover, for those looking to enhance events or presentations, playlists like presentation music offer the perfect solution. Whether you’re working on a project, hosting a webinar, or planning a corporate event, Spotify provides a wide selection of background music to set the mood.
The Global Influence of Spotify
While Spotify dominates the global market, it faces competition from platforms tailored to specific regions. One such example is Netease Music, a leading Chinese streaming platform. Netease Music highlights the growing demand for localized content, offering an impressive blend of international hits and regional favorites.
Spotify, however, stands out due to its expansive reach. Available in over 180 countries, Spotify boasts a massive user base of over 500 million active listeners. It bridges cultural and regional divides by offering localized playlists, artist collaborations, and podcasts in multiple languages. This global strategy allows Spotify to remain competitive while connecting artists and listeners worldwide.
The Power of Lyrics: Connecting Listeners
Another area where Spotify shines is its emphasis on enhancing user experiences through interactive features. For many listeners, lyrics are an essential part of connecting with a song. Take, for instance, the track featuring over and over lyrics. Lyrics can evoke emotions, tell powerful stories, and build lasting connections between artists and audiences.
Spotify introduced real-time lyrics, allowing listeners to sing along while enjoying their favorite tracks. This feature, powered by partnerships with lyric providers, further elevates the listening experience. Whether you’re exploring new music or revisiting old favorites, the ability to see synchronized lyrics makes Spotify stand out from its competitors.
Exclusive Artist Collaborations and Podcasts
Spotify’s innovations don’t just stop at algorithms and curated playlists; the platform actively supports creators through exclusive content and collaborations. Spotify offers tools like Spotify for Artists, which helps musicians track their growth, understand audience demographics, and maximize their reach.
Additionally, the platform continues to invest in exclusive artist releases and podcast content. Deals with artists and podcasters not only attract new audiences but also provide creators with a platform to thrive. This mutually beneficial relationship ensures Spotify’s constant evolution while helping artists monetize their work.
The Future of Spotify: What Lies Ahead?
Spotify’s commitment to innovation shows no signs of slowing down. From launching interactive features to integrating podcasts and audiobooks, the platform continues to expand its offerings. Future advancements may include immersive audio experiences, better monetization tools for artists, and AI-driven content creation.
By prioritizing user experience and creator satisfaction, Spotify maintains its lead in the streaming industry. As competitors like Netease Music grow, Spotify’s ability to innovate and diversify will remain crucial to its success.
Conclusion
Spotify has redefined music streaming through its innovative features, strategic partnerships, and global reach. From introducing curated playlists and exclusive podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience to enhancing user engagement with real-time lyrics, the platform continues to set itself apart in a crowded market.
While platforms like Netease Music highlight regional preferences, Spotify’s ability to connect artists and audiences on a global scale makes it a leader in the audio streaming world. Whether you’re discovering new music, enjoying podcasts, or looking for presentation music to liven up an event, Spotify delivers something for everyone.
What features do you love most about Spotify? Do you prefer it for music, podcasts, or both? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

What is a Gayatri Mantra Player?
A Gayatri Mantra player is a device or application that continuously plays the sacred mantra in melodious and soothing tones. These players are designed to allow individuals to listen to the mantra on repeat without having to recite it themselves. Whether at home, in the office, or while traveling, one can easily benefit from the mantra's spiritual vibrations through these players.
Gayatri Mantra players are available in a range of formats. Some come as compact electronic devices, while others are available as mobile applications that can be downloaded on smartphones. "Om Bhur Bhuvaḥ Svaḥ, Tat Savitur Vareṇyaṁ, Bhargo Devasya Dhīmahi, Dhiyo Yo Naḥ Prachodayāt."
The translation of the mantra is:
“We meditate upon the divine light of the Sun (the universal Creator). May that light inspire our intellect and guide us on the right path.”

The mantra can be played during meditation, yoga sessions, or simply as a calming background sound throughout the day.
Creates a Sacred Atmosphere: Regularly playing the Gayatri Mantra can help create a sacred, peaceful, and positive environment. Whether at home or in an office setting, the divine vibrations of the mantra purify the surroundings and instill a sense of calm.
Aids in Meditation: Listening to the repetitive chanting of the Gayatri Mantra can deepen meditation practices. The rhythmic nature of the mantra can help quiet the mind and lead to a state of inner stillness, making it easier to focus and meditate.
Promotes Mental Clarity and Focus: As the mantra invokes divine light and wisdom, listening to it regularly can help improve mental clarity and focus. It clears the mind of unnecessary distractions, allowing one to think clearly and make better decisions.
Universal Appeal: The Gayatri Mantra is not restricted to any particular religious or cultural group. Its universal message of peace and enlightenment makes it a tool for personal growth, spiritual development, and fostering a deep connection with the higher self.
The Gayatri Mantra player offers a simple yet profound way to incorporate the benefits of this ancient chant into our fast-paced modern lives. By allowing the sacred vibrations of the mantra to continuously flow, it helps create an environment of peace, clarity, and spiritual harmony. WEEK 7: Sound Design
After completing the modeling phase, my focus this week shifted to sound design. This is a crucial stage that can determine the overall tone and emotional conveyance of my entire project. In terms of sound design, my goal was to serve the theme of the women's unsettling in public toilets.
1. VoiceOver: Considering the presence of both Korean and Chinese advertisements in the 3d model, I opted to include English ads alongside VoiceOver to ensure clarity for the audience. Given that this is a global issue, I wanted more than just my VoiceOver to be present. Therefore, I gathered different statements and experiences from news sources related to the victims, and invited various women to read them, simulating an "interview" effect. Since these testimonies are mostly memories, I utilized "delay" in Adobe Audition to create an ethereal and immersive feeling. Setting it apart from my personal feelings, which serves as an introduction to the entire project.
2. Ambient Sound: I used a Zoom H3 to field record ambient sounds in the toilet. During AU processing, I amplified sounds like door closing, paper towel, and selectively shortened the toilet flush sound. Subsequently, I added sounds like iPhone camera clicks, water dripping, coughing, speaking, laughing, vacuuming, etc., placing them in different positions to create a more vivid and dimensional experience.
3. Background Music: To maintain the creepy, somber, and mysterious atmosphere of this project, I chose an ambient sound effect. By editing it with seamless transitions, I created a looped music track without interruptions.
In practice, my main challenge was the limited interaction and function within STYLY. To optimize the spatial experience in VR and to explain the meaning of each poster and advertisement clearly, I wanted visitors to hear different testimonies as they approached them, with other sounds muted. However, since STYLY lacks audio trigger functions, I used the "fake spatial" feature to simulate spatial perception. This required repeated attempts to balance the volume and distance between different sound sources, a process that could only be fully experienced through a VR headset. Additionally, STYLY does not allow adjustments; objects can only be deleted and re-imported.
(Steps to add fake spacial sound)
(Sound resource placement and its effective distance)
After numerous attempts, I left a 30-second silence before looping in my VoiceOver intro part to allow viewers to fully experience the toilet in a quiet setting. For the testimonies in different stalls, I set their effective distance very short to avoid interference with neighboring stalls and placed them at ear level for better immersion.
(Adjustment and test of parameters of different sound sources)
The process of adjusting parameters during computer editing, publishing, and VR headset testing was time-consuming. In future STYLY projects, I may use model with longer length rather than width (like corridors), reducing interference between sound sources.

December 3rd, 2023 - lost in the draft box
I’m the kind of person who can fall asleep in the arms of someone and stay curled up there all night again. I can be forehead to forehead with them and breathe and be happy. I can nestle in and feel comfortable and content.
January 6th, 2024 - pen to pad again
This is the kind of closeness my heart and body have been craving. Once you find comfort like this it’s hard to imagine having anything else.
Thoughts on Friends and Music
Ive been chasing the idea of a friend circle for my entire life. As a kid I never seemed to be able to settle into a place long enough to establish real friendships. Until I was late in middle school I didn’t even have a true best friend. I did have Kyle and Vince for a long time but.. I moved schools so much, and we didn’t have cell phones or the internet so I just lost people along the way for a while. I fell behind in classes too. School was so hard. I felt so isolated in a world where I was already isolated at home too.
Now, I’ve got this little group of people I’ve gotten pretty close to. We all started as just a little group of degenerate Crew fans who broke off and made a space to overshare adult themed content, but we grew into something much more meaningful. We developed into what I can really only describe as a support group for one another. We offer each other help, advice… its a place to vent in a non-judgements place and just exist as ourselves. We recently had to set up a few boundaries on the things we could vent on but hopefully that will be a productive thing and not a hindering one. Time will tell.
I have really enjoyed getting to know each one of them a little more each day.
One of the things that got me writing this morning was this playlist that one of them shared and specifically shared to me. Travis is this guy who feels his emotions pretty deeply like I do. So when he sets aside the time to say “hey, I think you should really listen to this song/album” I understand that this is so much more than just a random song recommendation. I had the playlist open only for a few moments before realizing it was going to be the perfect background music for writing. And so, I pulled out my iPad and here we are. He was especially chatty and thoughtful and pensive last night in the sever but in what seemed to be a whole lot of positive ways. If he ever reads this someday… Travis I’m really happy to have you as a friend and I am so proud of you for all the growth you have had this last year. It’s real visible growth and change and I’m so happy for you. Please keep growing.
This album/band he shared with me is called Sleep Token and god the music is just so perfect for writing. It’s hard to describe but everything is so drawn out and done with intention in every song. So it’s like when I’m writing while I’m listening to it the words I write down are the connecting threads between each part. It is so difficult to explain and probably makes no sense but at least it makes sense to me.
Something about me when I listen to music… the first couple times I listen to a song it’s like I’m listening to a song in another language. I don’t really process the words at all. I hear the melody of it, of the music, of the words… but it’s all one big conglomeration. I have to actually sit down and focus on the words, often times with the lyrics written out in front of me, if I’m going to process what those lyrics actually say. I don’t really know if this makes me so awful fan of music or not, but I guess it gives me a unique perspective of songs not everyone has. I have spent a lot more time in the last 7 months listening a little more closely to words in songs though.
I have more I wanna write about this but also wanna get this out of my draft box. So, more on this later.
