Yandere Frollo Alphabet
Real quick for my regular readers who are waiting for the Hades Angst I’m working on it at a snails pace but it’s shaping up nicely. I’m publishing this solely because it’s been in my drafts taunting me.
TW: Yandere themes, Slurs/ talks about slurs, genocide, medieval torture, isolation, abuse, gaslight, lack of right, racism, and religious themes.
If you are uncomfortable with any of this scroll on. I won’t be offended. If you are in a bad mental state I don’t recommend reading this Yandere relationships are extremely toxic and dangerous. If you or someone you love are in an abusive relationship, please remember you have resources to help you. I believe I’ve covered most of my bases so without further ado Yandere Frollo alphabet. Ps, left a little music if anyone wants to listen to that while they read.
Affection: how do they show you love and affection? How intense can It get?
I view Frollo somewhat like “I never quite learned to verbalize my feelings so I’m going to do very small things to tell you I love you.” Also, he brings you grapes. It’s every day he brings you grapes. (Unless you’re getting punished.) He does do the traditional kiss-your-cheek and forehead tho.
Blood: How dirty is he willing to get when it comes to you?
He’s willing to burn down all of Paris to find you. You and Esmeralda are gonna be best friends and shit talk Frollo together.
Cruelty: how will they treat you once kidnapped will he mock you?
Yes. Wtf do you think I would say “No he’s an angel” Brother has no problem calling someone a slur. Hell, I’d put money on the fact that he’d call a black person the N word hard R to their face. (He’s seriously the worst tho. Get y’all a man like… uh Prince Naveen. He’ll treat you better)
Darling: besides kidnapping you would he do anything else against your will?
Being an active part of the Romani people’s slaughter, being horrible to Quasi, and whipping people are the ones that are off the top of my head. I’m probably missing others but the point is he absolutely would.
Exposed: How much of his heart do you bear?
I think you actually bear 40%. The other 60 goes to the Bible and Christ. Don’t worry that’s still more than his family ever got.
Fight: How would he feel if you fought back?
CHOOSE ME OR YOUR PYRE BE MINE OR YOU WILL BURN~! But in all seriousness, he’s going to be so upset and do the same thing that he does to Quasi.
Game: Is this a Game to them? Would he like watching his darling try to escape?
No! This isn’t a game! Those filthy gypsies can’t be trusted! (it feels wrong even typing that 😭) They’ll harm you! You need to stay safe. In the bell tower.
I also don’t think he’d enjoy you escaping. He wants you at arm’s length at all times.
Hell: Your worst experience with him.
After one of your little “stunts” he had you flogged for a few hours and then you didn’t get lunch for a few days. (like three)
Ideals: what he sees in the future with you.
He sees a traditional Christian marriage (pretend male x male relationships were most of the time accepted by the church), a couple of NORMAL kids (he is the worst), and all the Romani people dead. (ICK)
Jealousy: does he get jealous and if he does, does he find a way to cope or will he lash out?
He gets very jealous and never controls it. He always lashes out. At this point, don’t even look at a fly anymore. He’ll get jealous of it.
Kisses: How does he act around you?
He’s possessive, creepy, and lustful. Think about how he behaves with Esma and multiply by two.
Love letters: how would he go about courting/approaching you?
He’s very traditional. He’s the type who’d buy a goat to give to your dad and then just be like “Gimme.” But he would approach you beforehand and have some small talk in passing.
Mask: Are his truth colors different from what people think?
No. He’s very publicly creepy and weird it seems. People also fear him and view him as dangerous which you can say firsthand is true. Creepy bitch.
Naughty: how would he punish you?
He’s the type to flog you for a little, isolate you, and then limit food consumption. You’re extremely afraid of acting out or acting against him for fear of his reaction.
Oppression: what rights did he take away from you:
Freedom, religion (if you’re anything other than Roman Catholic you’ll have to practice and pray in secret.), privacy, and if you’re American the right to bear arms. Really any weapons he’ll take away. (Maybe see if you can hide a dagger?)
Regret: does he regret kidnapping you? Will he ever let you go?
Haha! You’re so funny if you think he’d let you go or think he’d regret kidnapping you! The Lord brought you two together! You two were meant to be! Now stop struggling unless you wanna go back to the palace of justice.
Sigma: what brought this side of him?
I think his lust, pride, and lack of getting any bitches over his years all contributed. He got lustful for you, and he didn’t know how to react, then instead of admitting that he was in the wrong his pride got the best of him, and blamed you. When his lust won caused his Yandere actions.
Tears: how would he feel if you cried screamed or Isolated yourself?
He doesn’t care! You’ll learn to love him eventually. If you don’t… you won’t like what’s gonna happen. But do go ahead.
Unique: is there anything different from a normal Yandere
He has a massive superiority complex? He also can have people flogged and not be questioned.
Vice: what can you use to escape him?
I’m not quite sure. I guess maybe you could hide in the court of miracles?
Witts end: would he ever hurt you
Without a second thought.
Xoanon: how much does he revere/worship you and to what extent is he willing to go to win you over
He’s willing to go to extreme lengths. I know I’ve talked a lot of shit about him in this but in all seriousness, he views you as a gift from the heavens. An angel sent to him. His angel.
Yearn: How long before he snapped and kidnapped you?
He’s a patient man. I’m going to say if you play your cards right and Quasi is still young about 1.5 years till he snaps.
Zenith: would he ever break you?
Oh definitely.
Thank you for reading! Please remember that rebloging, likes and comments are much appreciated! ❤️

My Favorite Books I Read in 2023
I read a ton of good novels last year- 36 in all (and uh, 78 manga/graphic novels, but we'll examine that in another post). Here's a link to my Goodreads year in books (the manga is at the beginning, the novels start with Siren Queen) and my storygraph wrap up.
I reread a ton of Discworld this year, and it's as spectacular as ever. But what about new reads?
Well, here are my favorite books I read in 2023!
In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado
This is an autobiographical memoir about the abusive relationship the author went through with her ex-girlfriend. It's absolutely gut-wrenching, and at times, achingly beautiful. Machado uses the house she shared with her girlfriend, which she calls the "dream house", as a back drop. It's a place she always wanted and also a place she became trapped in, Machado's language is beautiful as she explores the relationship from different lenses-- The Dream House as Lesbian Cult Classic, the Dream House as Noir, the Dream House as Creature Feature, the Dream House as Stoner Comedy....All facets of the relationship are explored in a way that grips you by the throat and makes you remember everyone who ever tried to suffocate you-- but it also explores the hard work of moving on, of picking up the pieces, of living and embracing tenderness along with hardship.
I especially related to Machado's struggle to talk about abuse between queer lovers because of her fears of giving homophobes more ammunition...and when she says "we deserve to have our wrongdoing represented as much as our heroism, because when we refuse wrongdoing as a possibility for a group of people, we refuse their humanity", I felt that deeply.
This wasn't just one of my favorite books this year, it goes on the list of all-time favorite books. I wish I had this kind of writing style. I'll be returning to this again and again.
Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor by Xiran Jay Zhao
A middle-grade novel about a Chinese-American teen who feels a bit alienated from his heritage, which becomes a bit of an issue once he finds out the First Emperor of China has possessed his A.R. Gaming Headset. Now he needs to close a portal to the underworld with the help of other kids possessed by emporers.
This was a whole lot of fun, and often quite poignant. I was unsure if I could really enjoy middle-grade books as an adult, and this absolutely proves I can. There's a lot of really interesting Chinese history blended with action-packed fantasy, and exploration of the complicated feelings a kid can have about their own heritage . The dynamic between Zachary and Qin Shi Huang was so entertaining with the Emperor being villainous, heroic, charismatic, detestable-- and Zachary realizing how his complicated feelings about him mirror his relationship with his culture at large. There was also a lot of fun with other historical figures, and Xiran's take on Wu Zetian is a joy. (Also, if you like Yu-Gi-Oh!, you'll probably like this, since Xiran says it was one of their influences).
Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle
Rose is young woman who's raised in a fundamentalist Christian household, and she's a devout, obedient daughter. But some weird things are happening. She's seeing a terrifying demon everywhere, insects are coming out of her mouth....and she's possibly having feelings about other girls. What's going on?
Yes, this is by the Chuck Tingle who makes all those Tinglers. But THIS one... will make you tingle with fear! It's a great horror novel! It's skin-crawlingly creepy at times, but also does a great job digging into how fundamentalist dogma harms queer people, and the hypocrisy of such beliefs. The conversion camp aspect is handled tastefully, and overall it was a great spooky read that's also ultimately very affirming, cathartic, and hopeful.
Qualia the Purple by Hisamitsu Ueo
You might go into this thinking it's just a quirky yuri light novel about a schoolgirl and her crush who sees everyone around her as robots (like literally, when she looks at someone she sees a robot instead of a human). But it quickly becomes surreal queer psychological horror steeped in absolutely wild applications of quantum mechanics and thought-provoking time travel. Some of the quantum mechanics exposition dumps were a bit much but I deeply enjoyed having my mind cracked open by this book.
It's one of the most interesting takes of time loop stories I've seen. But it definitely covers a lot of rough subject matter, including a relationship with a serious age gap and extremely messed up relationships, so be cautious if you have triggers.
Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield
This book follows Miri, whose wife goes missing on a deep-sea submarine mission for six months. Miri thought her wife dead, but she miraculously returns one day...but her wife has changed. She's like a stranger. She may have bought the horrors of the sea home with her.
This is a gripping exploration of grief and loss combined with a delicious, slow horror that creeps under your skin. There's excellent Lovecraftian and body horror elements to the novel, but it works very effectively as a metaphor for a loved one going through trauma, and a relationship starting to crumble because everything seems different. A moment that really stuck out to me is when Miri copes with her wife's disappearance by frequenting an online community where women roleplay as wives with husbands missing in space. The way the online drama of the community interacted with her grief was both funny and heartbreaking.
This is another example of a book that makes me deeply jealous with its lyrical writing, and another one for the ever-lengthening all time favorites list.
Otherside Picnic Volume 8: Accomplices No More by Iori Miyazawa
The latest entry in a series about two girls exploring an alternate dimension full of creepypasta monsters, while also falling in love with each other. See my other reviews here and here.
This volume has the payoff to a lot of careful character work and relationship building, and it was completely satisfying. In fact, it was...show-stopping. Spectacular. Incredible. I loved the exploration of how love, sex, and romance are so different for different people and it's impossible to put it in neat boxes. The frank and messy conversation our leads have about their relationship was perfect and so was that absolutely bonkers, wonderful finale. This is another one for the all times favorite list, and I loved it so much I wrote a extremely long review/recap here.
Queer Ducks (and Other Animals): The Natural World of Animal Sexuality by Eliot Schrefer
This was a well-researched, well-crafted, easy to read book that explores queerness (mainly homosexuality, bisexuality, trans and genderfluid expressions in animals, and even the question of if and how animals can related to gender) in the animal kingdom. Though it's definitely aimed at teens, I learned a lot from it (who knew female bonobos were such life goals) and it presented its information in a fun way. It included some interesting examinations of how proof of homosexuality and bisexuality in animals was historically suppressed and filtered through homophobic assumptions. If you want to learn a little animal science in an accessible format, definitely check this out.
Night’s Edge by Liz Kerin
The story follows Mia, a woman in her 20's living with her vampire mother. Her whole life revolves around not drawing suspicion towards her Mom. She also has to make sure to feed her Mom some of her blood every night--lest her mother fall back in with her abusive boyfriend and start hunting humans. But when Mia meets a cute girl, she starts to dream of living her own life...
It was a really interesting use of vampirism as a metaphor for both living with a parent struggling with addiction and having an abusive parent. It's just a well-told, heartwrenching tale that got deep into the character's mindsets. I thought the ending was bit abrupt and rushed, but it did make more sense once I realized this was the first in a duology. It's a fascinating take on vampires, and I'm interested in seeing more.
The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty
This novel follows a middle-aged Muslim female pirate living around the Arabian Peninsula. She's supposed to be in retirement, but wouldn't you know it, she's lured in for one last job! I she rescues a kidnapped girl, she'll have all the riches she needs to set her family up for life. So Amina begins her adventure of fighting demons and monsters and ex-husbands. But the job might not be all it seems.
This novel is full of all the entertaining swashbuckling action and shenanigans that any pirate story should have. It's a rollicking good time, and feeds my craving for middle aged women going on quests and kicking ass. Amina's journey is a fun, wild ride full of dynamic characters and interesting mythology!
Yellowface by R.F. Kuang
Juniper is friends with a successful Chinese-American author, Athena Liu, and has always been deeply jealous of her. When Athena dies in front of her, Juniper decides to steal her manuscript rooted in Chinese history and claim it as her own. But plagiarism might catch up with her...
This is a strong example of a book I thought was really well-done, but one I'm probably never going to read again. The way it depicted Twitter drama is just too accurate and I got anxiety. It did such a good job putting you in Juniper's awful shoes so you can feel the pressure close in along with her. The book's commentary on the insidious racism of the publishing industry was effective, and it made a horrible character's journey fascinating to follow. I was so intrigued yet anxious I had to force myself to finish the last few pages.
Bonus read:
Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldtree
A very cute novel about an orc named Viv who decides to retire from the violent life of a bounty hunter and run a coffee shop instead. She ends up getting a lot of assistance from a succubus named Tandri...and my, is that a slow-burn coffee shop romance brewing? This book reminds me a lot of various cozy slice-of-life anime, and it's nice to be getting more of that feeling in book form. I wish there was a little more specific to the fantasy world rather than making it a coffee shop that line up 1 to 1 to a modern day shop, but it was definitely a sweet read.

hey! i’ve seen you reblog a few posts from proshippers/posts tagged as proship and i just wanted to let you know in case its not on purpose!
I need some of you youngsters to please listen carefully to what I'm about to say because it might open your eyes to a very important concept- when I say ship and let ship I mean I don't give two fucks about what people read in fanfiction because it's all fake. Made up characters in a made up scenario with made up things happening.
Your christian-based concept that thought is equal to action isn't true. You can THINK whatever the hell you want do long as your actions don't cause a problem. A creepy old man can look at a young lady and THINK all the nasty things he wants. So long as he does not take those thoughts and turn them to actions, he's fine. He might want to go see a therapist but at the end of the day thoughts are just thoughts. Standing on the edge of a cliff and thinking "wow if someone pushed someone off this they'd die" doesn't mean you want to push someone off a cliff.
PLEASE separate the concept that thought and action are the same thing.
Even if the topic is a taboo topic, even if it's something you would never in a million years agree with, it's still fake at the end of the day.
I don't personally want to read about canibalism, but its not my job or my right to force other people to never write about that stuff. Policing other people's writing and policing the "goodness" or "badness" of the content they write is not my job and it's not anyone else's. Your morality is yours and yours alone. What you find taboo and never want to think about might just be a weird enjoyable read to someone else. Just like kinks or even random topics, you cannot cater to everyone and trying to force a moral purity in written fiction is just ailly. They're made up. No matter how much you want Azirphale and Crowly to be real no matter how much you are desperate for Percy Jackson to have real feelings, they aren't and he can't. They're not real and they never will be so nothing that happens to them, no matter how fucked up, really matters.
And that's all it is and all they will ever be. A bunch of taboo topics and events done to made up people.
I don't want to read about incest but I'm not going to stop people from writing fanfics about the supernatural brothers doing the nasty. I'm also not going to go out of my way to look for it or tell people to stop because it's all fake. Its not supporting it. It's made up pretend space.
I sit here throwing made up characters into Bad Situations that would be horrible if they were real people. But they're not. They're fake people with fake things happening to them and it's fun to write and fun to read. I torment my characters all the time. I made Virgil go through so much emotional trauma in APP and no one bats an eye because it's fake. Please apply the same critical thinking to the rest of written everything.
Proshipper literally means that a person should have the freedom to write what they want and read what they want because morality has nothing to do with fiction. It does not make you morally a bad person to enjoy a taboo subject in written form. This goes for ALL taboo subjects. People reading greusome murder mysteries don't go out and murder people. The same thing applies to the other taboo subjects. People writing about weird incest ships aren't going to go out and do the incest thing.
If they are it has nothing to do with the fiction and everything to do with that specific person.
Thought and action are not the same thing.
Allowing everyone to write what they want without gatekeeping based on morality is a good thing. We would not have lgbtqia+ stories if the morality policing of Christian values dictated what we are allowed and not allowed to write.
Please understand that I saying all this as a teaching tool. You might be super icked out by certain topics and that's natural and normal and ok. I am too! Everyone is! But what we have to do is be tolerant of the ideas that writing taboo subjects and being a proshipper isnt a bad thing. Also enjoying taboo subjects in written form doesn't make you somehow evil, ok?

/eating disorder mention The choice of Hunter doing ballet is fascinating, and the fact that it's still something he does when he's left stardom. While not as well known, it does come with a lot of the same pressures associated with showbiz, and the sport has a heavy association with eating disorders. But I'm not sure how much of that pressure exists if he doesn't actually perform. Which is to say, what is Hunter's relationship with ballet?
(More talk about the eating thing under the cut, that some might be uncomfortable with. Also a lot of ballet Hunter talk.)
So I tagged that other post with ED just in case, but I'd like to clarify that it's not exactly the condition that Hunter deals with.
There's a difference between an eating disorder and disordered eating and Hunter suffers from the latter. It's not a mental health issue so much as a physical condition that has resulted from having his food intake monitored for his whole life. These circumstances can lead to EDs but it's fortunately not something Hunter developed.
However, other people being so obsessed with his weight and body led to him being put on very strict and nutritionally lacking diets. Hunter isn't allowed to eat a lot so his stomach has adjusted.
Which makes it physically difficult for Hunter to immediately digest healthy sized portions once he's in a safer environment. He wants to. But every time he tries, his stomach rejects it and it comes right back up again.
So he needs to take it slow and gradual. Slightly larger portions every time until his stomach is accustomed to the new intake size. It takes a few months but he gets there.
Hunter genuinely loves eating.
Anyway on to the ballet. And like, it was absolutely forced on Hunter when he was young out of a creepy obsession to keep him slim while also training muscle so that his body will be aesthetically appealing enough when he's older.
Hunter is not built to maintain the body he currently has. His natural metabolism is insistent on a bit of chub on his bones, so he's required to push himself extra hard to burn it off.
Philip is gross, man. But he's aware that in order to monetize a teenage boy, it's in your best interest that he be at least somewhat attractive to teenage girls.
So the origins of Hunter's ballet hobby came from the same place as his disordered eating (Adults' sense of ownership over his body.) but they are not linked in that way. Like one does not contaminate the other, at least in Hunter's mind.
He doesn't perform ballet publicly, which is one source of pressure off his shoulders. However, not being public about it comes with its own set of challenges. Namely the stress of keeping it a secret.
It was Philip that decided on ballet to keep Hunter fit but he was also the one who warned him that people knowing about this could lead to severe consequences for Hunter's reputation.
There's a bit of a stigma around boys who do ballet. And Philip, a devoted christian man, doesn't want those rumors circulating about his nephew.
And his nephew, a devoted christian boy, doesn't either. Especially considering how scared Hunter is of himself and the thoughts he's caught himself having before.
(It's difficult being a religious and heavily closeted bisexual teenager in the mid 2000s. Especially considering you don't know what bisexual means and your interest in multiple genders leaves you in a perpetual and nerve wracking state of confusion.)
Anyway, Hunter is actually quite emotionally reliant on ballet. He enjoys it. Which is why the pressure is heavy to keep it a secret. If he's found out, it will be taken away from him.
The thing is Hunter is also an undiagnosed autistic kid who needs some form of motion based regulation in order to keep his emotions in check and ballet is what works best. It's like meditation for him. There's a dance studio on set and as long as he has a few hours in there alone to soothe himself, he's less likely to get fidgety and agitated or have an outburst on set.
Philip does not like to deprive of daily regulation hours, not because he cares about his mental wellbeing, but because its what keeps Hunter somewhat closer to "normal."
He does not want his nephew to be assessed for any mental disorders. It'd be shameful, especially for a boy in his position. So whatever keeps Hunter normal, the better.
So yeah, pros and cons.
Ballet is an extremely difficult and strenuous sport. It's not for the weak. Hunter was worked hard by his teachers. The lessons petered out a few years prior when his schedule got too packed but he continues to practise himself.
But he enjoys it. He really does. It helps him feel some sense of control, normalcy and stability when it feels like the world is falling apart.
I don't think he'd return to lessons after he leaves the spotlight and would much rather return to just keep teaching himself at his own pace. But yes, he continues to dance well into adulthood. And as a proud bisexual man, he no longer deals with the stress of keeping it a secret but enthusiastically mentions it as one of his hobbies if he's ever asked.

Please read everything before asking questions!
My words may sound harsh in this post but I assure you they are only so to convey the seriousness of the content. I’m actually a very friendly person and enjoy talking to people.
⚜️ I’m a married individual. I’m not looking for romantic relationships online.
I am perfectly fine being friends with people. In fact I LOVE meeting new practitioners online. Especially ones with varying views from my own. I’ve met some people that I’ve become extremely close with and can honestly say they are some of my best friends even though we’ve never met in person. But…I’m not looking for any sort of romantic relationship. I’ve been with the same person for about 10 years now (as of 2024 anyway) and have no interest in anyone else. So if you’re only following me going to get something more, you’re wasting your time.
⚜️ I don’t give out my private phone number or address. I live in the USA…that’s all you’re getting.
You’d be surprised how often creepy people try to coax out personal information. Now…I have shared my actual address and phone number before, however it’s ONLY with people I’ve known for several years and we’ve talked enough to build up a trustful friendship during that time.
⚜️ My Anon asks are disabled on this blog.
I don’t like anon asks because it gives license to bullies and trolls to say whatever they want without fear of being attached publicly to their despicable behavior. If you want to say something to me…you do it to my face, and you do so under the assumption that I can share that information with others in the community. People love to hide behind masks, and that’s all Anon is…a mask. If you know you’ll get backlash for saying what you’re saying…don’t say it…that simple. I don’t play games, and am not above alerting others to that disgusting behavior so they can be safe and secure.
(Now I realize some people are more comfortable asking real questions anonymously and I’m sorry for that. But I can assure you that if you request a private answer I will be more than happy to do that.)
⚜️ I use my BLOCK button.
I’ve been told before that blocking people is “infringing on their free speech.” Well…no it isn’t. Further more, that’s an extraordinarily hypocritical way of thinking. The block button is apart of freedom of speech. This freedom isn’t confined to what you can physically say. Any way you can convey your thoughts and feelings, is a form of speech (the fact that you’re typing out your complaints should attest to that) This should go without saying then that it means the block button is also a valid form of speech. So I will be continuing to use my block feature. If you don’t like it…oh well. Just get over it and move on. It’s not the end of the world.
⚜️ I don’t observe certain holidays, and will not celebrate them. That means I probably won’t wish you well on them even if you wish me a pleasant one. It’s nothing against any individual but there are certain things about these holidays I have a problem with (commercialism aside).
Christmas: I’m not a Christian, I believe Jesus was an idea and folkloric figure not a real person, and the modern holiday of Xmas is based on a multitude of pagan practices the Christian church takes credit for.
Thanksgiving: The thanksgiving we are taught in schools is a lie. It was a story that was told in an attempt to improve relationships with native people. It was placed where it was on the calendar as well because it was thought to be necessary to lead into Christmas and further drown out the so called “evils” of Halloween. It also doubled as a way to increase turkey sales. The real story of Thanksgiving is horrific and can be found HERE.
Easter: Once more I’m not a Christian, I believe Jesus was an idea and folkloric figure not a real person, and the modern holiday of Easter has some pagan practices the Christian church takes credit for, just like Christmas.
St Patrick’s Day: I don’t align with the church and this entire holiday is built around the fact that a Saint chased the Druid’s from their homes and forced them to convert.
⚜️ I don’t care about your religion.
I’m sorry to say that so blatantly but it’s true. I’m not a fan of organized religions in any way. I have lots of PTSD from my time in a Christian household. This doesn’t mean I will demonize you though or your beliefs. Nor will I try to convert you. On the contrary, I believe people can have whatever religion they want as long as they aren’t hurting anyone, and I will fight tooth and nail for people to be able to make those choices. However, this doesn’t mean I will sugarcoat my opinion of those religions if it’s asked. Nor will I observe any religious custom just because someone else I know does.
Now, I welcome friendly debate within the magickal community but I’m always hesitant when it’s directly based on religion. Mainly because religious bias can play a role with most people regarding history and I’m not one who sees religious bias as credible. I feel it makes a box, and then you have to twist and alter facts to make them fit. I dislike debating this way as it often comes down to either smashing someone’s religion, or an argument and I dislike either. Now this doesn’t mean I won’t debate religion, but the moment you start trying to hold religions doctrine as a credible source I’m out, sorry. I would much rather just talk about practices and the spirituality of your beliefs than the religious side of it.
⚜️ I won’t play into your fantasies.
There’s lots of people under the pagan label that hold to what I believe to be fantasies within their craft. These people often seem to blur the line between dnd and authentic pagan practices. And while they have a right to believe that, I also have a right not to. However, I don’t set out to demonize or devalue such people. I usually just ignore them for the most part or at the very least, if they are my friends, just avoid talking about those specific parts of their beliefs. I’m not one to judge another’s practice or try to convert them in any way…however…just as in the case of religion, I won’t surcoat things or play into someone’s fantasy if they decide to ask me about my thoughts on it. I believe in being truthful to people, especially when they trust me enough to want to know my opinion.
⚜️ I’m not your teacher, or your guide.
It may seem odd to have this here seeing as I have posts on my blog of a teaching nature, but I refuse to take up that mantle. I post what I do to help people who need somewhere to start but the rest is up to them to pursue things as they deem necessary. I am not responsible for what you learn or how you decide to learn it. I’m happy to offer advice and share my story and recommendations but that’s it. I believe the best teacher is the experience you obtain from applying action to the research you’ve gathered. I’m merely offering a bit of that research and nothing more.
⚜️ I hate drama and won’t partake in it.
I don’t do drama. Please kindly leave me out of your mess. I don’t mind if CLOSE FRIENDS rant and let off steam but if I don’t know you that well I don’t care. Sorry to be blunt but there’s a big difference in people that I consider a meaningful part of my life and people I barely know or don’t know that well.

This is Jing and she is my first Class of 09 OC and She is a real psychopath sadistic and racist towards white people or Americans
She is the opposite of Miko, unlike Miko who is somewhat likable and you can fix her,Jing is you can’t fix her (because of her past trauma as an forced child prostitute from her abuive drunk aunt who kills her parents and blames that the white people and Japanese killed them and sell her off to America to make more money and she is raise in an racist, white people, Christian and Japanese hatred, all Asian nationalist? (Don’t know if that is an real thing so let me know) sadistic cannibal Asian maifa cult
If you did something that pisses her off or if you did something that she doesn’t like, she’ll tell the members to rape you and eat your dead body or kill or she is doing this out of boredom. This is what happens with the two problematic teachers like the pedo PE teacher Coach Colby and the White nationalist photographer teacher Mr. Whites (because those two piss her off for the right reasons) she tells the members to send them to P Diddy to ass rape them as an sick joke. She also did the same thing with teachers who didn’t do nothing wrong to her, like she tells the members to gang rape Ms. Ames (because she tells Jing stop making an hate speech about killing and raping White people, Japanese and Mix people don’t deserve to exist and she thought it was funny to watch her get raped “fucking sick messed up bitch”), She tells the members to gang rape the History teacher Mr. Katz (because she doesn’t like the way he was teaching such as the American presidents and white people), so everyone at school is afraid of her and especially Principal Lynn (because they also gang rape her, because Jing finds it funny and that is why she is never been expelled or being suspended from school). She did the same with the older students that she hates, Jeffery has an creep crush on her (somehow or the fact that she is Asian, because of Anime), but he is sixteen and he didn’t know that she is two years younger than him, she is bored as fuck so she falsely accused him of trying to rape her, so he got rape by an gay member as an warning not to be near her and Kylar being an stupid jock bully tries s to hit on her. And not knowing that she is younger then him and did the same thing with Jeffery and she thought it was funny to see an jock getting raped. Crispin was minding is own business and she is feeling bored as hell so she tells the members to gang rape him as an sick joke. Her and Megan don’t even get along fine (well who could blame her), Jing would sometimes keeps sending her some racist death threats of wanting to skin her alive and she even kills her baby puppies one she video cords of one baby puppy getting eaten alive by dogs and the others she kills them and sends it to Megan, Jing finds it funny to see an virgin Christen girl getting rape and then killing herself, well she sends the members to go to her house (somehow) to gang rape and Megan kills herself out of guilt for losing her virginity. She enjoys telling homophobic jokes to Ari and Ari does her best to avoid her as much as she could. Emily, Jecka and Nicole are trying their best to avoid her as much as possible or just try to be on her good side (to avoid having the same fate just like the others). There are possible endings, if Nicole pisses her off on purpose like telling an racist joke to her back then the bad ending of her sending the members to rape, kill and eat everybody at school. If Nicole accidentally pisses her off like telling her to stop being the way she is and she needs to go and get help (which is out of character for Nicole) then another bad ending is where Jing sends the all the members to find Nicole’s house to gang rape her bitchly mother and her creepy loser brother and the eat their dead bodies and gang rape Emily, Jecka, Air and Nicole to death and eat their dead bodies. The only good ending is where Nicole out of character saves Megan from being rape and the others and Nicole kills Jing by stabbing one of her eye and her heart with the knife and killing the members with an bomb then the whole school would be safe. There is an somewhat an good ending of Nicole out of character killing Jing’s bitchy aunt and she show the pictures of her dead parents and Jing knowing what she did is wrong and trying to help her to move on.
Trivia
Her favorite drugs to be fuck up are Molly and Angel dust.
She is born in 2000 and she is the only Gen Z character.
She is the youngest character so far.
Being at such an young age, she is considered to be the most beautiful girl at school.
She is the only Asian character to be born in China (not America), who makes her Chinese American.
She at such an young age she is the most intelligent character, but ironically she hates math (mostly algebra).
She is an 14-15 who bullies 16 and 17 year olds (which is ironic).
She drinks a lot.
She dress like an older woman (or 16 and 17), is to trick creeps or 16,17 and 18 year old boys who didn’t know she is younger than them, so she can falsely accuse them of trying to rape her.
She is an big fan of Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, because that is the only Japanese anime that doesn’t have an traditional anime like style.
It is unclear of why she hates mix people so bad or having an stronger hatred towards them.
She is based on Miss America from Coonskin and Nicole, but the raises are swapped.
Coach Colby and Counselor, even know they are Pedophiles, they are scared of her (because they will be send to P Diddy as his gift for his white party to play with if they mess with her), Coach Colby got raped by P Diddy before, so he doesn’t want to be near her.
She has an thick and cute Chinese accent

media roundup jan 2024
hey whats up!!! its me again!!! happy valentines day :3 finally caught up to patch. and by patch i mean "talking about things that i remember reading." finally got around to reading/playing a bunch of things that were really hyped up!! that ive been really looking forward to :3 yippee also, one of my new years resolutions was to play all of umineko? which according to most people ive seen, does in fact take An Entire Year due to being 1. fully voice acted 2. a little over 1 million words. so uh, please look forward to that.
books:
camp damascus by chuck tingle: horror ya. a girl on the cusp of adulthood belongs to a strict and isolated christian sect, living in the town with the us' most famous conversion camp. things get weird quickly.um ok i was really hyped about this! its the first chuck tingle thing that ive actually read (lol) but ive been following his stuff for a while. its an interesting look into what its like to be uh, really christian and also (SPOILERS) gay, but the whole time i was like man i wish i was playing [we know the devil]. which is a really good game please play wktd :3 there were some really cool and chilling body horror parts!! which i liked a lot!! but overall it was more inspiring (?) than scary, which wasnt really what i was looking for personally
the way spring arrives and other stories: translated chinese scifi/fantasy anthology, written and translated by a team of women + nb writers. really solid!!! took me a while to get through, but theres such a wonderful variety of stories here--some are creepy, some are heartwarming, some are silly, some are elegant. i particularly enjoyed some of the essays about translation itself, as well as the titular stories and A Brief History of Beinakan Disasters as Told in a Sinitic Language. definitely check it out!!
spark joy by marie kondo: an appendix of sorts to marie kondos super big book the life changing magic of tidying up, with a couple more practical tips and some anecdotes. ok to get kinda personal, konmari stuff appeals to me bc i grew up surrounded by detritus. from where i sit in my childhood bedroom, i can see a stack of floppy disks, old checkbooks, and a copy of The Lost Treasures of Infocom--a game from 1991. almost none of it is ever touched. so the idea of having a space full of only joyful things is really appealing.. honestly i think the best bit of advice from the book was that if you have things that are necessary but dont necessarily elicit joy (eg screwdrivers, coffee makers, whatever) that you try and take a bit to appreciate/praise those items and what they do for you? and they may become more beloved :3 anyways probably not worth reading unless youre already into the whole konmari thing
ninefox gambit by yoon ha lee: space opera. kel cheris, a freshly promoted general, has been sent to suppress a rebellion lodged in a fortress. but her greatest enemy is also her greatest asset: the implanted consciousness of the prodigy traitor-general, shuos jedao. famous for winning impossible battles--and infamous for killing his entire fleet. its kind of in a trio of "lesbian sff about empires and stuff" with machineries of empire and traitor baru cormorant. well for one i really liked it. i do have a lot of hours in um games like civ 5 and starcraft but i usually dont like Reading books about military stuff. this is obstacle number 1. obstacle number 2 is that ninefox gambit has some really intricate worldbuilding, and unlike some other lesbian bodysharing scifi novels out there, our protagonist is not a newcomer. you dont get the assist of getting to learn about the world as the same time as her. but the thing is that ninefox gambit makes you Want to pick apart everything thats going on and get into it, and once you have a good idea of all the factions and stereotypes and tensions, etc it feels really rewarding :3 and the world is grounded in how you get to see what feels like every single level of this one infiltration/siege, from the general at the top to the infantry at the bottom even to the servant robots who clean! yay robots :3 when youre jumping to someone completely different, doing something totally unrelated, its pretty easy for that to be… super jarring? (hi sanderson) but it was not that <3 although it took a bit for me to get it, i also liked the intermittent correspondence that we get to see from the enemy side as well. how humanizing! it also balances a large cast of characters very well. characters with bit parts still feel memorable to the extent they need to be? idk how to say that correctly. obviously between cheris and jedao, jedao has the upper hand conversationally pretty much always but they have a good dynamic and its cool to see her strengths come through in other ways i think one of its strengths/weaknesses is that its very focused on this One siege in One point in time. i would love to hear about the anden in the sequels for example. also like does everyone have to be in a section or are there real (non conquered) civilians. how do yall grow food. also yeah sorry democracy beign the ultimate heresy made me laugh ninefox gambit is kind of a tricky read; its probably not a good idea to try reading without a stretch of uninterrupted time + brain energy but i liked it 👍 i thought it was good 👍
raven strategem by yoon ha lee: sequel to ninefox gambit! yoon ha lees ability to balance lots of different povs works really well for this book :3 it really ratchets up the tension! i also really liked seeing all of the exotics lol (magic wepaons that do crazy stuff). unfortunately the tension didnt pay off in a way that was really satisfying to me personally, however.. it didnt really help that i didnt like one of the main pov characters (brezan.) the first book is still worth reading though as a standalone!
comics/manga:
mitsuya sensei no keikakuteiki na edzuke: m/m series about a cooking writer (older man) and his editor. ok i talked about this last time but im a big fan of romance with older people in it. the baggage comes preattached!! also the protag in this kinda looks really similar to shinji from kamen rider ryuki?? has some Extremely Delicious looking food art, as well as some really nice like. food + desire + eroticism type thing going on. (i started reading it bc tumblr user stella obstinaterixatrix was talking about it as an example of non explicit eroticism!) yay i love food manga :]
sonna me de mitekure: aka look at me with those eyes. m/m romcom that parodies a lot of common BL tropes (overbearing prince of the school falls in love with some rando!) but also has a lot of heart :3 definitely only worth reading if youre like. already sort of in the soup of romance manga though lol
ouji-chan no sukina hito: suuuper cute f/f oneshot about baby prince idolization
catch you catch me: another cute f/f oneshot :3
botticelli drawings exhibit: ok i just thought this was neat. it was an exhibit about some of the preliminary sketches that were made for some of botticellis famous pieces (he was a famous painter during the florentine renaissance in italy) i like how you got to learn more about how the Workshop Style worked like how a lot of paintings were actually made by lots and lots of apprentices.. also how botticelli apparently got really into this one super duper intense monk type guy and started making some kinda weird shit
movies/tv shows:
pokemon concierge: lighthearted family show about a stressed office lady who quits her job to work at a pokemon hotel. super cute!! very short!! you can watch it with your parents or kids or whatever its really not that deep but the stop motion was just soooo cute. slightly concerning in like idk the level of 'escapism from office culture' but you know how it is
dear ex: slice of life/drama? taiwanese movie. after his father's sudden death, song chengxi and his mother meet his fathers hidden male lover. dudee this movie is so fucking pretty and so sad. i almost cried and blew up and died. all 3 main parts of the cast are such good actors and the way it does grief and like the seamless sliding between memory and the present AUGH. so good
sousou no frieren anime: also known as frieren of the funerals! a slice of life/fantasy anime about what happens after you save the world. frieren is a long-lived elf who saved the world with her companions--but many decades afterwards, she still wanders the world the same as ever. bro this show is so freaking gorgeous and well made. it really makes me wish going outside was real. has a really nice sense of melancholy too.. its just a really solid adaptation :3
dungeon meshi/delicious in dungeon anime: cooking/slice of life/adventure anime set in a dnd-like setting that digs into a lot of fantasy worldbuilding. mainly about: can you eat the monsters!!!! i finished the manga a couple months ago so i was really hyped (and a little bit nervous) about this anime but studio trigger is doing a really good job!! its just a really good show ok please watch it
marry my dead body: straight police guy gets ghost-married to a dead man, and then is tasked with solving his murder. um ok so i watched this bc i misread neils text and thought it was by the same director as dear ex. spoilers this is very much not true lmfao its more lighthearted with a side of feelings about death and stuff. very silly! i think the gulf of expectation was so wide that i couldnt enjoy it that much.. also cops. why. some of the jokes didnt really hit for me esp the whole like ahhhh slag straight guy doesnt understand anything type thing? but its like not a bad light movie
percy jackson and the olympians: remake of the first percy jackson book. yeah this was fine i watched it with my mom while playing solitaire the whole time. the actors are very charming and the show is solid, but i think it really deserved to be like. a 20-episode series with 20 minute episodes, or something like that. like its oestensibly for kids but its Really trying to make that nostalgia cash grab so it exists in a slightly uncomfortable middle (writing is very basic and friendship-y which isnt necessarily bad but its not like That Deep, but also who is making a kids show 40 MINUTES LONG). anyways i think a longer pacing like that would have given more time for filler and replicating the road-trippy vibe that the original books had. its still solid though!
games:
umineko episode 1: its the classic murder mystery setup: a wealthy man on his deathbed still hasnt resolved the issue of his inheritance. he, his hateful children, and their own children are cut off from the world on a remote island. but the man still has unsettled debts….and something is deeply wrong on the island of rokkenjima 🤯ok umineko is infamous for 1. having fans who wont shut up about it 2. something something metatextual? 3. a very high bar for entry, featuring near-required modding, several hours of expository setup, and the fact that. well. its a visual novel. that aside, i enjoyed the first episode way more than i thought i would :3 the uroshimiya family is so rich and alive and shitty it felt like i was watching succession again lmfao. battler is a very endearing (if slightly stupid) main character, and there are some really strong characters laid down that make you excited to get into All That in the future. plus, once i got to the murder part it was genuinely so hair-raising? theres some phenomenal voice acting.. the scene with maria was so memorable i thought i was going to dream about it. also i loooove beatrice <3 anyways i would recommend but its not for the faint of heart. 99% of umineko-ers stop reading right before the love lets them see it, and so on.
off game: wow im so happy to have finally beat off. i mean. hey whats up. off is a weird, abstract game about a 4th-wall breaking "Batter" whos self proclaimed goal is to purify the world. its often viewed as a spiritual predecessor to games like undertale :3 …actually, i played off a long time ago and then got stuck/intimidated by the very last set of puzzles so i Just Now gave up on actually finishing and just watched a letsplay lol. honestly one thing that ive figured out over time is that actually?? im really not that much of a fan of pokemon-style rpgs like this 0_0 i mean, the gameplay is just. not that fun? and the typical random encounter type thing is just not that nice. i think this is something that a lot of jrpgs/rpgs have figured out recently, but off is an older game without those QOL improvements lol. (also random encounter is easier to code probably) anyways!! the writing in off is so compelling…its so weird in a way that invites you to pick apart that weirdness, but also makes you feel like some mysteries might remain unresolved forever. its a video game that actually Has Writing In It. its one of those (free!) indie classics thats definitely worth checking out. also i love drawing the judge and valerie. weird cats for the win ok now im just going to talk about my theories about the game. so we know that the only real humans in the world are sugar, zacharie and the baby. however, the queen and the batter are parental figures for the baby. the wardens of each of the levels were created for the baby as it (in the absence of its parents?) longed for companionship, but they warped over time. whats healthy becomes sick and whats sickening becomes necessary etc. possibly mimicking how the baby, sick and alone in the hospital, also warped over time? becoming warped caricaturizes the babys creations and makes them cruel and so the batter becomes the ultimate heroic figure, who purges whats evil and rotten. but if it lives where i live then i guess the whole world has to go?? well idk
music:
take my hand by zerobaseone: ok whenever i listen to this imlike this is one of gods perfect songs. the production is like chefs kiss and theres just some really beautiful sounds in here? its so warmly dreamy and delicate feeling.. just like first loves… or whatever lmfao the fluttering hook-y thing at the beginning is just too good i ended up looking up a bunch of the producers. also big pop is nice bc you can tell they mixed it so it sounds good in a car OR in headphones lmfao
1,000,000 by nine inch nails: i forgot what genre nin is supposed to be ok this song came up when i was playing hifi rush (rhythm based action game!! so cool so stylish) and me and neil were like NINE INCH NAILS?! it was like that one comic you know. anyways i like this song its very adrenaline feeling. i looked up the real lyrics recently but to ME its about trying to escape emptiness thru adrenaline and danger and sex and stuff :P not that i do that but its still a fun song!! yippee
dark red by steve lacy: ok i found this song bc of a tumblr post i did not know he was the "i wish i knew" guy lmfao. honestly if people only knew like a 5 second songbite from my works id be so mad. but anyways its progressive rnb apparently? i just like this song :3 when you are kind of pathetic but basically chill with it but what if.
anyways if youre reading this: hi!!! ive been spending a lot of time recently doing the hard fisher quests in final fantasy 14. guys never do beast of brewers beacon ok the school year is just starting up but having to wake up early is kind of doing a number on me…… other than that i actually totally have my shit together! yay :3 if you read to the end (or even skimmed) thanks <3

Little Women Ranked
One of my favorite books of all time is Little Women. Last fall I watched and read everything related to the series. Here's a simple ranking of all of that.
The Book (obviously)
Whether you consider the book just Little Women or with Good Wives, there is no deny this is the absolute best version of the story.
2. Little Women (1978)
This is, in my opinion, the best adaptation of the novel. The characters felt real and accurate and it was just a delight. It had so much heart. Also I am a Greer Garson as Aunt March stan. William Shatner did his absolute best at Fritz. I just adore this version. I will say that I am a sucker for tv movies though.
3. Little Women (2017)
I love this version. In accuracy, it's not always the best (especially character wise) and the third episode feels very rushed at times, but I still love it. I'm absolutely obsessed with Meg and John in this version. Meg and Beth are my profile picture lol. I just really enjoy this version.
4. Little Women (1994)
In terms of movies, this one is the best. This is the one I recommend to everyone and despite my (minimal) issues with it, I still watch it all the time. It's just so lovely. Also this one just has a more distinctly Christmas feel than any of the others.
5. Little Women (1933)
While not my favorite, I still enjoyed watching this version. Katherine Hepburn played a great Jo and I would love to watch this again sometime.
6. Little Women (1949)
This has the same script as the 1933 version, however, I am not a fan of a few small changes made, such as Beth being younger than Amy. June Allyson is not my favorite Jo, which also lowers this one slightly. Margaret O'Brien played an amazing Beth and was definitely the best thing about this version. I also just recently listened to the Lux Radio Theater adaptation of this movie and it just solidified my opinions of this being a mid adaptation.
7. Little Women (2019)
The Most controversial version on this list, I cannot say that I enjoy it. It makes so many changes from the novel, that it honestly makes me mad. However, this one places so high on the list do to it's watchability. Every other entry under this one I would never watch a second time. This one at least has the benefit of being high quality. Plus all my friends love this one (none of them have ever read the book and it makes me sad), so if I try hard enough I can separate this version from the book and at least watch a decent movie (although it is hard).
8. Little Women (1970)
I wanted to like this version, I really did, it was so extremely book accurate, but it was also really boring. This does have the most book accurate portrayal of Laurie in my opinion, though.
9. Little Women (2018)
This just overall was not that good. Jo was very mean and aggressive and Laurie was kind of creepy, in my opinion. I also disliked that this was made by a Christian company and did not include any of the Christian themes and statements made throughout the novel.
10. Little Women Meg's Story and Jo's Story
This two parter was hard to watch. It made it so love story heavy, and was also just not good quality or fun to watch. Everything was so rushed. I did like the focus on Meg and John in the first part though. I also enjoyed the random 1950 commercials throughout the version on youtube.
11. The March Sisters at Christmastime
This was just bad. Nothing really redeemable about it. It was a very hard watch.
Bonus:
These were some adaptations that I watched, but find hard to rank, due to them not being movies or tv shows.
Little Women (1958) Soundtrack
This is the soundtrack for the the 1958 CBS tv musical, which is not technically lost media, but is not available to the general public. The first half of the soundtrack is songs from the special, and the second half is covers of some other songs from musicals or were popular at the time. The songs are quite fun, but what I hear from reports of what happens in the special, it is not accurate to the novel at all.
Little Women (2005) musical
I am not really a fan of Sutton Foster, nor am I a fan of this musical. It is a classic case of not understanding Jo March, her writing, and her relationship with Professor Bhaer.
Little Women Ballet
This was fun to watch. I don't know much about ballet, so I cannot really judge it. If I remember correctly, this is just an adaptation of the first half of the novel.
Tales of Little Women
Little Women (1981)
These are both anime adaptations of the novel. I only watched the first episode of each, and from what I know they kind of make up plot lines. I enjoyed them for what they were, but I will probably not watch them again.
I unfortunately did not watch the Little Women Opera or the March Family Letters as Operas and vlog series are not really my thing, but maybe I will get around to them.
Anyway, this concludes my ranking of Little Women. If you see this please let me know your thoughts on any of these adaptations.

I hate this new trend now a days for teens to make fun old books or classics like Shakespeare, Gatsby or Anne Frank(them forgetting she was real). Calling characters stupid or how they would do things differently in their place. When they have no idea. None zero. I seriously doubt they would. I hate when they say people who like these books are anti feminist or some other bullshit. Do they not realize what these books were to the people at the time of them?
This is a tricky and frustrating question. As someone who’s been teaching English literature and writing for approaching 17 years (and studying these disciplines for even longer), I’ve seen trends in attitudes toward the classics come and go. There’s not always a logical explanation for those trends from cohort to cohort of students, either.
Let’s take Shakespeare and Fitzgerald as examples, since those are two that you name in your ask. When I was in junior high and high school during the 1990s, it was trendy to love Shakespeare’s plays—but deeply uncool to love The Great Gatsby, for some reason. I remember being teased by classmates for liking the latter, because wasn’t it just so boring? My classmates seemed to feel like Shakespeare’s works at least had a lot of stuff happening in them. I don’t know about my classmates, but my attitude toward these authors’ works hasn’t changed over time. I still enjoy both.
When I was an undergrad from 2000-2005, I feel like Shakespeare was still cool (especially Hamlet). I can’t remember any of my undergrad classmates talking about Gatsby at all during my time as a music major who switched to an English major, all the while taking classes in both disciplines, only in different proportions. The only mention I heard of Gatsby during college was that there had been an operatic adaptation. I didn’t get to see it, and I kind of regret that.
While I was in grad school and first starting to teach from about 2007-2014, Gatsby landed on my radar again because it was back in fashion with high school and college students. I heard about more Gatsby-themed school dances and parties than I can count. I’m sure Baz Luhrmann’s film during that window of time helped. I don’t think I saw my students as enthusiastic about Shakespeare unless it was a creepy or violent one like Macbeth. There seemed to be a love of extremes in what they were reading, especially when it came to classics.
At this point in time, you’re right about Gatsby in particular falling out of fashion again with younger readers. It represents a level of risk and excess that, quite frankly, I can’t entirely blame them for disliking given how the majority of their teenage and young adult years are going. Just look at what’s happening in the world. I don’t think most of them find characters in those circumstances relatable.
There are exceptions to every rule, but social trends are reflected in what people read and how they critique it. Don’t forget that we’re also seeing social conservatism swing back with a vengeance, and not just in the US. From Christian fundamentalism in politics to secular purity culture (which is more or less the same thing with God’s name filed off) in fandom, I can think of any number of reasons why a book like Gatsby would be snubbed. Shakespeare seems to be faring better with my students at the moment, as the plays run such a wide gamut of events and issues.
As for making fun of Anne Frank and not believing she’s real, well…it’s hella antisemitic out there right now. That’s a whole other post that this Jew is way too tired to make.

X Files Rewatch: Season 7
overall thoughts: I hate to say it but this might be my least favorite season so far? I still really enjoyed it for the most part and there were a few genuinely amazing episodes in here but i gotta admit the blatant flirting was one of the only things that kept some of these more mediocre episodes watchable
msr: the huge debate over when they actually became A Thing is kind of impossible to find a definitive answer for, but I tend to subscribe to the idea that "millennium" was their first kiss (bc it was awkward! but still sweet) and that things progressed quickly from there, bc there is no other explanation for their behavior in "rush" that makes sense in my mind lol. at the same time though, i can see the argument for "all things" being their first time, and i can even make a case for something happening post-"amor fati" or even post-"milagro" if I'm feeling especially silly. in truth though, the main reason why i don't want "all things" to be their first time (even though it makes narrative sense) is that i just want them to have as much time together as possible before mulder's abduction :(
writing: i am still in a committed loving relationship with vince gilligan and i loved all of his episodes with the exception of "hungry", but that was mostly for the lack of M/S interaction and the weird treatment of EDs. but "x-cops" was hilarious and so creative, and "je souhaite" is one of my favorite episodes of the series and honestly a microcosm of the thesis of the show. I also really enjoyed both david duchovny and gillian anderson's solo penned/directed episodes. "hollywood ad" is hilarious and sweet, and "all things" is so quietly introspective with some really beautiful things to say about fate and free will.
directing: one of my favorite sequences in the entire series is the end of "orison" when scully shoots pfaster, it's SO chilling, it makes me literally clutch my chest. rob bowman literally going out with a bang, if i chose to forget about "en ami" (which i'm still mad was his last episode of the series). sigh. "sein und zeit", "closure" and "all things" are also beautifully directed episodes, and i loved vince gilligan's funky directing in "je souhaite" i think his shots and camera angles really add to the comedic bits
hair: their worst hairstyles in the whole series 😭 by the end of the season they've grown out to a better length, but gillian's mid-season hair is especially tragic
favorite episodes: sein und zeit, closure, x-cops, all things, hollywood ad, je souhaite
68% of episodes worth rewatching, and that's being generous...yikes
individual episodes reactions under the cut:
The Sixth Extinction- wtf is happening…scully’s melodramatic letters to mulder tho <3
The Sixth Extinction: Amor Fati- YOU WERE MY CONSTANT, MY TOUCHSTONE
Hungry- the monster guy looks like a young christian bale
Millennium- I forgot the plot of the entire episode once they kissed
Rush- guys stop eye fucking you’re literally at a crime scene
The Goldberg Variation- scully smiling :))))
Orison- choosing to ignore that they made pfaster a demon, otherwise really good
The Amazing Maleeni- silly and smiley :)
Signs and Wonders- terrible terrible awful I hate snakes
Sein Und Zeit- :((( the spiritual successor to paper hearts
Closure- cried like a baby at the end bc I am a sensitive cancer <3
X-Cops- no one does meta humor like the x files
First Person Shooter- a more sexist, more boring kill switch. pass.
Theef- creepy but meh minus the blatant flirting
En Ami- disgusting, was literally dry heaving through the second half
Chimera- one funny scully monologue but otherwise meh
All Things- beautifully quiet and introspective, also congrats on the sex
Brand X- boring
Hollywood A.D.- so goofy but really funny
Fight Club- terrible, unwatchable
Je Souhaite- amazing, adorable, hilarious, cried real tears at the end
Requiem- this whole episode was just one long Jesse from breaking bad screaming noooo gif
#i'm tired so i don't really have anything else to add in the tags but#if you have questions or wanna talk about s7 my askbox is always open <3#txf rewatch

Umineko Ch1. Replay 6
Not really Battler even if they weren't all in cahoots I don't think anyone likes him
when the kid's rambling and knowing every dinosaur fact everyone praises them but when it's human sacrifice and rituals everyone freaks out smh, more kids into archaic rituals please. Also Maria puilling her weighjt for team yasu! She helps a lot in setting up the Beatrice mythology, if it wasn't for her I can imagine the cast just going it's creepy but whatever people are dying
I think Maria's relationship with Christianity is pretty interesting and helps you translate and sympathize with "magic" by showing a very realistic way of how people can use it to improve their lives, with how it helped Maria translate her being raised by a single parent into something that made her feel bad into something that made it a point of pride for her, of course it's not all positive and both Yasu and Maria use it to self destroy in many ways, but
Guess you could interpret this as Yasu seeing her plan and ultimate suicide as an "escape" from the dead-end fate they see their life as
No, that's episode 2 Battler
Maybe if you weren't cheating on them and doing baby swaps! Wonder how Kyrie would have developed differently if the guy she became obsessed with and saw as an escape from her home situation wasn't the word partner on earth.
You were entirely right until you assumed that you getting pumped up and wanting to discover the killer was an unintended side effect and not the point!
Here you are completely off base, though, The magic circles are more or less just for Yasu herself, I think. Just to demonstrate her knowledge and complete the image of The Witch Beatrice she has for herself.
I don't have anything to say here other than I love all the gun portraits and I will be taking pictures of every character with a gun I can
Seems to imply they switch targets between Shannon and Natsuhi here, which would explain why they did such a risky play, but I don't know what Yasu would have tried in order to keep Shkannon out of the same room together otherwise. Also, with Battler overhearing that implies this scene is actually what is being talked about, guess they knew they were being overheard and tried to build up the mystery lol
Wonder how Yasu took this, wonder if they saw it as further confirmation Battler doesn't remember shit because if they had the slightest inkling of who they were he definitely wouldn't have done that
You can tell with a lot of her lines how Kumasawa thinks this really is a very big joke I feel pretty bad for her
Team Yasu has impeccable team coordination (other than Nanjo, he's a weak point for both Team Yasu and Team Natsuhi, man isn't very good at lying and he has to lie 2x)
Even if Maria maybe kind of deserves it in this scene this still feels really Erika-core
Though I guess he only lashed out like that because he was becoming actually scared of magic, not out of a desire to crush children's dreams
You sure were Battler, a significant part of the game is dedicated to that.
I don't think they are *wrong* here, Maria does clearly enjoy when she gets to lord over people with less knowledge than her, but that's more of a side bonus of her having picked up magic than the actual reason why
Jeez don't dunk on Rika George
Kinda funky for George to say isn't it? George's home life was filled with as many stressors as his school life, though I guess in his effort to try to look at things from a neutral, objective perspective he forgets his personal experiences aren't really unique. I am not really dunking on George here though, he is making a real effort to try to understand Maria in this scene and to try and get others to have empathy for her.
In Maria's case, her parent was the least tolerant towards it, which is pretty sad.
I think looking at it as personalities is a really big mistake Battler makes here though, they aren't completely different personalities but one whole that switches which part to show depending on circumstance.
The answer is all 3 of them in some way so not dismissing any of them is the correct thing to do here, Battler!
Jessica has a bit of an escapist streak like when it's implied she fakes Asthma attacks to get out of tough situations and the trick she gets played at by servants she mentions in Episode 7, it's kind of an interesting part of her character to me.
Well, you figured it out here exactly! Good job cousins.
Setting up here the mentality of "throwing shit at the wall until something works" that ended in the ep4 tragedy here
Both Eva and Natshi are like Are you stupid That can't be true in their own unique ways.
Kinda fascinating to see a conversation we will see repeated many times between Battler and Beatrice starting from Eva and Genji of all people
Jessica was the first to notice the noose tying around Natsuhi's neck from Team Natsuhi! Honestly it's kind off really exciting to see Eva pull out an elaborate trap like this even if I feel bad for Natsuhi
You are such a tryhard in all aspects Natsuhi, you are about to be very credibly accused of murder and you are worrying over your daughter saying hell. Of course Eva knows Natsuhi didn't do it and just wants to force her to cough up about Kinzo's death but
"We know you didn't do it we just want you to confess to hiding Kinzo's death"
When you first read this scene it's very easy to side with Natsuhi against the evil and mean Eva, but on replay Eva is both absolutely right and an accomplice so it's very exciting to read it from many angles. I really like this scene.

Thoughts on a Tracker that really showed how much of a RPG the show feels like (and also took a turn for the southern gothic potentially confirming magic in that universe)
singing, that's a new one for ways to open an episode
here comes trouble
and I'm not talking about the snake
a little bit of Velma backstory
Colter must have just kept his Airstream parked hours away where it was
I'm not just saying this because of the part of Kentucky they're in but this is starting to get a little "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive"
that's a lot of dead animals
creepy dog for a creepy dude
well he's not hiding something /s
rhetorically asking if she's a witch why was she singing a Christian spiritual (unless either she was doing some kind of Christian mysticism, it was just the healing no other magick or "Wayfaring Stranger" has a backstory and original lyrics I don't know about)
that's one ice-cold manager and I saw what she did to his coffee
so a potential relationship issue
no, she was a healer (and the guy's nicer than you'd think once Colter made him drop his weapon)
I can't make out half of what he's saying through his accent
thank frak Colter's tracking in the light
but shouldn't he not be going there alone esp. with spotty cell service
witch has a hut in the woods, nice
how the heck can he call the bro
so healing was a family business
found the compound of whatever-the-hell-they-are and there's the girl
and Colter managed to safely run through their gun range
a whole lot of convenient flora so he can get through with nothing but crossbow jumpscare
no way they didn't hear him get in the house
that must be why they wanted a healer
found her via her singing
so her healing doesn't take because they're dumbasses and whether magick exists in the Tracker universe is as ambiguous as if aliens do
Chekhov's bang stick (I kept wanting to think land mine because of that Doctor Who episode)
and now things have taken a turn a bit for the Last Of Us
desperate times call for hiding in the creepy abandoned store full of mannequins
does he have another knife or did he just (even temporarily) give her his bro's
that's one way to get around low ammo
we know he doesn't die here of course so let's see how (y'know, "Scorpion climax")
cue the improvised smoke bomb and the damsel saving herself
enjoy crossbow karma
I figured it was going to come down to her healing him (and she also called 911 but why didn't they show up)
looks like her healing the dad actually worked (hmm...worldbuilding implications)
I know she's bluffing but who knows
and then you cut to the coroner truck and scare the crap out of me
did Colter feel like he was saving his sister this whole time
how is he well enough to be able to discharge himself etc., her healing, luck or something more intriguing
bro rewards him, sis rewards him
and they're gone (perhaps another evocative parallel doylistically)
sure he can call Dory let's see if he actually follows through on the getting together or w/e he might have wanted her to call him about

Blast from the past, pre-2008
These are various bits and pieces from various websites of mine over the years - thoughts, quotations, random crap. I had been including them with my B roll posts, but I think I'll just do a dump and leave it at that. Enjoy!
CURIO CITY: A town dedicated entirely to the joy that is browsing through, and shopping in, dollar stores, bargain shops, and junk emporiums.
BOUNDARY: Borders that you push from the inside out.
I should probably go commit a neatness, but it sounds too much like work.
Side: What the back and front use to keep away from each other.
"The Pope called; he made a nice little joke about taking the dogma for a walk." - Monty Python
I'll tell almost anyone almost anything, but I do it on my dime, in my own time. I don't care how intimately I know a group of people, I do not take kindly to someone else airing my personal business openly, however innocuous it might seem to them.
I love it when people do that indignant and frustrated "are you blind" thing. I can always respond with, "Why yes, as a matter of fact, I am."
The fittest are those who survive on the least.
HRML: Considering the extensive use of emoticons, and other visual cues utilised in the expression of one's thoughts in media where text is the only method of talking, I think we need to consider the implementation of HRML: Hypertext Remarkup Language, used solely and specifically for anything involving inter-human communications.
Things that the universe should make available, in ready supply, in quantities sufficient to meet demand at any time: light bulbs, milk, toilet paper, batteries, little magic pixies that will clean the messes you don't want to clean, the messes you can't see, and the messes you just can't be bothered with.
The biggest problem with cell phones is that now anyone can get a hold of you anytime, anywhere - even when you're sitting in a public toilet.
Every once in a while I wake up in the middle of the night with this creepy, sad feeling that something's amiss or that my fortune fountain has run dry. It's nothing, really. It's just waking up without enough sleep, into a dark place, when one was expecting to wake into the light fully rested. A little tea, a little TV too maybe, a little talk.
The only veggies I won't eat are: eggplant, sweet potato, Brussel sprout, avocado, and any sort of melon. Everything else is pretty much fair game.
TANDEMONIUM: When you cause a ruckus with someone else.
I like Pop Will Eat Itself, poppies, Pop Tarts, popcorn, pop (Coke), and pop-up books.
Every person needs something which will make them stand out, unless they're lucky enough to be "found", which is rare. Some people, you see, keep their jewels well-hidden, out of sight, and it is the rare soul who will stop to take a look, investigate, and stay.
Here's a typical expressive expletive from my birthplace that you're not too likely to hear elsewhere: I don't give a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut.
One of the great philosophical questions of modern times, posed by They Might Be Giants in the song Particle Man, is: When he's under water does he get wet, or does the water get him instead?
"Whatever your heart clings to, that is your god." - Unknown
"No Christian martyr works it harder!" - Joan of Arc, Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical
"Space can contain everything, but space does not entertain the thought that it can contain everything." - Nirvana Sutra
"For in the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." - Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
"Animals are nature's way of keeping meat fresh until you eat it." - Den
In my world, Elvis is not the king of rock'n'roll. He's not even prince, duke, prime minister, mayor, or town drunk.
When I was a young child, and not understanding the working of technology, I used to think that if I turned off the radio in the middle of a song that the same song would start up from where I left it, when I turned the radio back on again, regardless of how much time had passed.
If you rearrange the letters of the word shelf, you get flesh. Which gives a whole new spin to the expression shelf space; but perhaps only to those of us who need to be taken to the puzzle factory in a rubber truck.
Mithraism had a baptism-like ceremony which involved the man crouching in a pit while a bull was slaughtered on boards above his head.
There is no future in time travel.
If I could meet a man that sounded not entirely unlike some unholy combination of Joe Strummer, Ian McCulloch, Derek Jacobi, Christopher Eccleston, and Patrick Stewart … well, I actually have very little idea what I'd do, but it sure would be wonderful listening to the poor bugger talk. Some people have voices that just resonate, voices that hum.
Sometimes I think that there's some things one has to do when one is young, or it becomes impossible to even dream that they will ever happen.
We understand when the sky is grey or red, why it is so. But, on the blue days … how is it the sky goes from its sharp cerulean, to Wedgewood, to what it is now - the pale edges of faded denim; a blue that's almost forgotten its blueness, but hasn't quite.
What's the most precious thing you have? Time, right? So why is it we will gladly give up hours and hours of time, of our lives, of our selves, but we all turn a bit funny in the gills when it comes to borrowing money, or lending it? Is it because we see money as a symbol of time, more precious than the time itself?
I believe that any person who claims atheism and says they hate God (or the idea of god), is no atheist at all. Hatred of a thing is not the negation of that thing; hatred is actually a pretty powerful emotion that gives something power.
I love it when people do that indignant and frustrated "are you blind" thing. I can always respond with, "Why yes, as a matter of fact I am."
"If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid." - Epictetus
I love navel oranges. Let me rephrase that in more easily understood and precise terms: I love navel oranges. There is no better or tastier fruit on earth, though seedless green grapes could give the navel orange a run for its fruity money. I could eat the damned things by the pound, and have (not like the time when I was young and unconsciously ate two litres of lime sherbet whilst watching Dr. Who).
NUKEROMANCER: Someone whose entire concept of meal preparation is confined to the "defrost", "power", and "cook" buttons.
"I never make mistakes. I make predictions which immediately turn out to be wrong." - Murray Walker
Abundance: agile bread.
There are times you become something, evolve into something, not because it's how you want to be or how you're truly meant to be, but because you're driven there out of necessity.
Zentrance: One day I'll come up with a clever definition for this word. For now, all I can say is that I like the sound of it.
What song do you want played at your funeral? Well, this would involve people going against my "end" wishes. But, assuming they do that, I'd prefer Always Look On The Bright Side of Life, Fearless (Pink Floyd), or perhaps, the Ode to Joy. I am a soppy sentimentalist.
There's nothing worse than getting gassed by someone else's perfumery of choice - especially when it's so thick you can taste it.
"A moral compass can only point you in the right direction; it can't make you go there." - Gil Grissom, CSI
I'm very, very particular about the sort of pens I like to write with. I'm very fond of very fine-tipped rollerball pens - the blacker and thinner the better, and they must have black ink. I think high school was what finally turned me off of blue ink - I almost hate it, and find it grating on the eyes. Black seems more definite, and it's sure as hell easier to read. I wonder how it is blue became the "accepted" colour.
The impossible is sometimes the unwise, but I am not afraid of attempting the unwise. I have done it before, and I'm certain I'll do it again.
"I exist as I am, that is enough." - Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass
Someone, I can't recall who at the moment, once said that diplomacy was the art of letting other people have your way.
Freak out now. Apologise later.
Pocket change of heart shaped box lunch time of the seasons in the sun always shines on TV dinner hour of power trip report card games without frontiers…
o/~ I need your fingers to straighten my flesh / I hope your fingers are kind o/~ - James, Walking the Ghost
MAULTITUDE: Roman hands and Russian fingers, people who just can't keep their hands off you, groups of people engaging in orgiastic behaviour, perhaps could apply to flocks of hookers.
The only thing worse than some raving, reactionary, political asswipe, is a drunk, raving, reactionary, political asswipe.
The young may have more infectious energy, fire, or immediate heat, but age brings warmth, knowledge, and a more sustained heat that feeds a more enduring sense of passion, and a better ability to understand and accept the vagaries of humans and human existence.
My imaginary friend when I was little was called Charlie Brokentoaster. He was not a toaster.
Last week, I couldn't find my wallet. It had about $30 in it. When I realised it was gone, I tried to work myself up into being upset about it, but it wasn't coming off. Then I realised something, that I was trying to work myself into an upset because I thought that's how I was supposed to feel about losing it. I wasn't upset about it being gone at all, so I ditched the mood immediately. The wallet turned up not long after.
I'm not sure what I thought it was before, but I was surprised the day I found out that the vagina was a tube. I was young. What can I say?
Tiberius "My dear, you look like a Greek tragedy." Agripina "And you look like a Roman farce." - I, Claudius
"Don't try to lay no boogie woogie on the king of rock'n'roll." - Long John Baldry
Beware the many evils of man; that amongst these evils exists the following: overreaction, retaliation, ignorance, reactionaryism, accusation, jingoism, moral superiority, hypocrisy, propaganda, misinformation, groundless speculation, knee-jerkness, jerkiness, finger-pointing, blame-laying, narrow-mindedness, fuckheadedness, internalisation, gun-toting lunacy, anal retentiveness, blindness, non-thinking, non-analysation, selfishness, wilful self-torture, arrogance, lies, baseless specialisation, self-indulgence, bait-laying, tension aggravation, revenge, tabloidism, bigotry festering, narrow perspective, extremism, fanaticism
Most of life's problems can be solved by at least one of the following: ale, whores, cookies, Aqua Net, fire
FYI: Talking louder does not make you sound smarter. However, it will get you the one thing you're really after: attention.
There's nothing wrong with being humbled sometimes.
My most terrifying childhood memory is being on the elevator alone when the power in the building went out. I refused, for years afterwards, to be the first person on, or the last person off, the elevator.
Education is a society's responsibility. If it takes no trouble to ensure a knowledge base and teaching systems for its people, then it has no one but itself to blame when those people fail to be able to contribute.
How many olives do you have to eat in one sitting before it turns from a snack into an unhealthy obsession?
When my grandfather died, I was present when they put him in the body bag. They put him in face down so the last thing visible of him, was his bare butt. I thought that was the funniest thing I'd ever seen. The last thing that man showed to the world was his ass. It was too poetically appropriate for words.
Two things of which one should constantly remind oneself, and which have nowt to do with each other: Some prices are worth paying. and Consider the source.
I have no problem with charities or charity. In fact, I consider it my responsibility not to refuse people in need. However, I do have a problem with charitable groups who call me, and keep calling me, despite my having told them, repeatedly, that I cannot afford the extravagantly costly "perks" they're offering in order to get my money.
Whatever your heart clings to, that is your god.
Rah rah + Amen = Rahmen
The human emotional system is like a pot luck stew - you never know what the hell the next spoonful is going to bring you.
When does pizza officially become "leftover"? Personally, I feel it's not technically leftover until it's at least a day old. But what about, say, twelve hours after purchase and original consumption? Is it leftover then?
"Nothing in life has any business being perfect." - Henry, The Lion in Winter, 2003
"I'll miss the sea, but a person needs new experiences. They jar something deep inside, allowing him to grow. Without change something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens. The sleeper must awaken." Duke Leto Atreides, Dune, 1984
My friend Max once bought a can of pop with something called "pant acid" in it. Yeah, I'm still wondering too.
If there's no rest for the wicked, I must be one evil bastard.
I remember, years ago, hearing some story that said we are, now, breathing in the same air that men like Julius Caesar, Socrates, and Jesus, exhaled. One of my first thoughts at the time was, "I bet that's not all we're breathing in of theirs."
Why is it, do you suppose, that those responsible for the programming arrangements on television, assume that everyone must have enough of a life that they don't care what's there in the way of weekend programming? As the years roll by, the programming on weekends gets worse and worse. Some of us don't have lives, you know. On behalf of those of us without lives, I demand higher quality programming for weekend viewing!
Eat well; drink with good cheer; be appreciative of your gifts; give well if you can; be sincere in your wishes.
Have you ever noticed that ruination and urination are a wee (no pun intended) too much alike in spelling?
You stock up on things, like toilet paper and light bulbs, yet you always manage to run out of your stockpile at the moment when you're least able to go and replenish it. Yet another fine example of the true perversity of the universe.
I was just thinking back on how much, as kids, my friends and I liked to play school. Which is really amusing given how much we hated actually going to the real thing half the time.
If a passing spaceship pulled over and offered you a ride, under what circumstance (if any) would you accept? If I needed a lift, I'd go. If I felt adventurous, I'd go. If I was at all curious, I'd go. I guess it wouldn't take much to get me to go, since I'm most of the above most of the time.
I don't have nightmares, but I do have unpleasant dreams. I loathe them, truth be told, I'd rather have the nightmares. With my unpleasant dreams they usually lave me in some sort of bizarre mood, detached, unhappy, deflated, flattened, ill at ease, unsettled, paranoid and unsure of myself and others. They are always creepy, deflating, or grotesque. I'd rather have the nightmares.
People spend far too much time looking for A Fulfilling Career that will meet all of their financial, creative, and personal needs. It'd be nice, but that sort of thing happens very rarely. I don't need it, anyhow. I want a job. I don't need my work world to fulfil me, I need "me" to fulfil me; I need me to fulfil my life. Of course I don't want a job I hate; but one I can tolerate, that pays the bills, and allows for personal time, would be sufficient.
"To forget one's purpose is the commonest form of stupidity." - Friedrich Nietzsche
I actually like cleaning windows.
"It is just an illusion we have here on earth that one moment follows another one, like beads on a string, and that once a moment is gone it is gone forever." - Kurt Vonnegut Slaughterhouse Five
There's only one way to find a needle in a haystack - the same way you find one you've just dropped on a shag rug - walk through it barefoot.
If my soul were forced to survive on chicken soup alone, it'd starve.
There's not too much that I require of a morning outside of a cup of tea, except that people not yammer at me. It's part of why I find most radio morning shows so ghastly and intolerable, because all they do is yammer, yammer, yammer.
Visists: The extreme reluctance, and sometimes resistance, one feels when one realises that it's time to go visit people you really don't want to visit.
Say it with flowers. Send her a triffid.
"Speak in extremes - it will save you time." - Jason
I used to be offended at my mother's husband for keeping my existence a secret from his parents, and for seemingly forcing her to also do so. But then one day I realised that she chose to allow him to do that, and my offense moved.
Carrots are good for your eyes - but it hurts when you push 'em in.
I stole a pack of gum when I was about eight, but felt so guilty about it afterwards that I left the pack on the windowsill outside the store.
It doesn't matter what you're made of; it matters what you make of yourself.
"To think is to forget differences, generalise, make abstractions." - Jorge Luis Borges
Harrod's in London has a really tacky shrine to Dodi and Diana near the Egyptian Escalator. What was worse, however, were the tourists who stood there taking photos of it.
30 seconds at a microphone addressing the people of the world. What do you say? Life's too short to spend so much time being petty over things that, in the grand scheme of things, matter not one whit.
Remember a few years back when John Glen went up in space again? Why wasn't everyone dressed in ape suits when he came back down again?
Secrets: Those things best kept to onself, and that no longer exist when you share them with another.
Sometimes there are things in places you never expect them to be. Sometimes there are things in places you knew you'd always find them. Sometimes all it takes to begin something, is a beginning.
Movies I've seen with Peter O'Toole in them: King Ralph (1991), Last Emperor, The (1987), Club Paradise (1986), Pygmalion (1983), Svengali (1983), My Favorite Year (1982), Masada (1981), Man of La Mancha (1972), Murphy's War (1971), Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1969), Lion in Winter, The (1968), Casino Royale (1967), What's New, Pussycat (1965), Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
"The untold want by life and land ne'er granted. Now, voyager sail thou forth to seek and find." - Walt Whitman
In the winter, when it's frigid here, and I'm hating it, I like to check the temperatures in places like Yellowknife and the Berring Strait. I don't feel so bad about the cold after that.
DISREMEMBERED: When you've mentally misplaced something that you actually do know.
There's three sides to every story: Your side, my side, and the truth.
The Exorcist was the last movie my grandfather ever took my grandmother to see. Immediately afterwards, he made her give away the brand new set of green glasses she'd just bought.
Ever notice how weatherpeople discuss the risk of weather, as if we had some choice in the matter, as if one could spin the wheel and get no weather at all?
"I am more important than my problems." - Jose Ferrer
Tragedy tries so hard to harden us - but the real trick is not letting it do so.
When I was a small child (and an adult), I always wanted a rubber duckie. I never got one. So, now, as an adult, people give me duckies as gifts. Still, no one's given me a proper yellow squeaky one as yet.
I didn't learn how to tie my own shoes until I was into grade one.
I understand the whole concept of wind chill, more or less, but I think that after a certain point giving it a numerical value is beyond useless. Once it goes -20C or lower, you're pretty much in "way too fucking cold for humans" territory.
I find that as I get older, I am far less resolute about certain things than I was in my adamant youth. Some things have charms they never had before, enjoyment is less judgemental in its scope, and I have embraced the ability and desire to do things I wouldn't normally do, simply because they're there to be done, or because someone else wants to do them. There is enjoyment to be had in just about everything, even things you never used to find the charm in.

I said that I wanted to make a cake with the Yin-Yang on the top, and call it my Zen Ice-Cream Koan cake. People said there was a special hell reserved just for folks like me.

Why is drinking American beer like making love in a canoe? Because they're both fucking close to water. (favourite Monty Python joke)
The enemy of my enemy is not my friend.
I am sick to death of everything being acronymised. Are people that lazy that they can't say a whole fucking word? It's only a few more letters! Are you lot afraid your lives will end before you get the second syllable out?
I was remembering the old five and dimes, as my grandmother would call them, and the sort of lunch counters one found in department stores before they all over-incorporated corporations. All this incorporation removes any sort of charm. But that's a story for another day. The thing I most remember from those places, are the rows of pre-made sandwiches, and the bowls of vari-coloured Jello, all topped with whipped cream (the Jello, not the sandwiches). Out of all the things I could remember, it's that, the dishes of Jello.
"Man is a giddy thing and this is my conclusion." - William Shakespeare
I cannot explain the film Brazil except in this fashion: When it first came out, a group of friends and I went to see it. After it was over we all got up to leave when the house lights came on, all of us except Carlos. Carlos was still sitting there, staring at the screen, with his mouth hanging open, agape, gobsmacked. He didn't even hear us when we called him.
I, quite frankly, have no idea how it is that some people seem to find it much easier to use bad spelling/grammar than proper spelling/grammar, even when it comes to text messages. I cringe when I find myself using a txtism.
I once purchased a copy of Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet for a friend, not knowing she already had it. I got stuck with it. I still have it. It's still in the paper wrapper the store put it in. That was over 15 years ago.
Ferment: Yield to the state in which something becomes a better grade of being, like going from potato to vodka. Sugars, baby, it's all in the sugars.
I didn't learn how to tie my own shoes until I was well into grade one.
If I'd known it was going to be this hard to quit smoking, I'd have chosen to do something far less painful, confusing, and tough … like learn calculus.
My mother owns one of those very tiny breed of poodles - a steak probably weighs more than this dog does. Someone I know said that because the dog was so tiny it was no better than a barking cat toy.
I used to have a bad habit of misplacing my beverages. I would make cups of tea and forget them all the time. I'd find them hours after, all over the apartment; in the bedroom, bathroom, dining area, and wonder how the hell they got there, because I sure as hell didn't remember going near the places I'd find them.

Social security: The mistaken impression that society is going to take care of its own.

Is a vulgar Parisian obseine?
DAYTRITUS: Little bits of thoughts and impressions and happenings that occur throughout one's day; particularly applicable when one is writing them down in an online journal, for example, and not a single one feels like it justifies having a whole post to itself, but a whole bunch together make up a nice little post in sum.
"I am human, so nothing human is strange to me." - Publius Terentius Afer
FORSOCKEN: Like forsaken, only with a higher natural fibre content.
Life does not have meaning because you fill it up; life has meaning because it fills you up.
Skyscraping: I wonder if that would leave a cirrus wound?
The only veggies I won't eat are: eggplant, sweet potato, brussel sprout, avocado, and any sort of melon. Everything else is pretty much fair game.
Changing, as a person, often involves admitting that you were wrong. Lots of people are too proud to admit that they were wrong. That is why some people never change.
The wind's blowing around outside. Rain winds by the sounds of it. They sound cooler, deeper, wetter. The leaves of trees rustle differently.
Someone asked recently what the oddest things I've ever eaten are. The list includes octopus, squid, alligator, pigeon, frog legs, pine tree seeds, homemade Jamaican rum, and RIT dye powder. The rum could have stripped the paint off the side of a barn at a hundred paces, and the RIT dye was something I did when I was five years old. I thought it was jello powder. The pigeon, by the way, was very tasty as I recall. No, it's not those grey and white buggers that invade the inner city.
As I grew up, anything that couldn't be seen, anything that was invisible or out of the range of human vision, was - according to my grandfather - skybluepink.
I'm a girl who really knows where her towel is.
Demanding rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!
There are three sides to it - one like ice cream, another like the ocean, and the last is like an autumn day of crisply coloured leaves. These things work in concert, rather than being contrary to each other. They serve to fill a palette with rich flavour; tang and sweet at the same time. Tang and sweet and fresh and mellowed.
AU FRIGO: What some French people hear when you say "Off we go". True story. My mother had a friend who thought this.
I'm so poor I can't even pay attention.
"You're a gentleman and a scholar, and I'm not much better myself." One of those random things my grandfather used to say that rang very much of Oscar Wilde or Groucho Marx, but was neither.
It took me years to figure out a way to reason the phrase "a month of Sundays".
My grandmother was a little surprised, to say the least, when I explained to her that the nice song they were playing in the background of that Swiffer commercial (Whip It by Devo) was about masturbation.
Despite the fact that space is nothing, it's the very thing that connects us all to each other.
There's nothing quite like the neverending surprise of the start of Brain Damage/Eclipse, when one is listening to Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon.
People always ask you what you do for fun as if fun things are supposed to somehow be completely separate from everything else you do. As if work, home, friends, family, and play, are not meant to intermingle. I find that sad, the lengths to which some folks go to compartmentalise their existence.
I like verbal communication. I like hearing voices - not just the ones in my head.
Possibly the most insightful thing anyone's ever said about me, was that I was very good at talking about myself without saying anything. It's true.
Friday, the day of sharp excitement at the weekend and rest to come; Saturday, the day of hobbies and shopping and touring around; and Sunday, the day of somnolence and soporifics.
I'll say one thing for myself. When drunk, I may be embarrassing, but I'm not mean, loud, or vicious.
I can please only one person a day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.
I very much dislike people who try to make me stressed and reactionary simply because they are.
Every day a person should have: an infusion of hope and optimism, a little surprise, a little variety, a little activity, to feel safe, contentment, peace, stability, a little healthy chaos, relief from that which hurts them, imaginative play, relaxation, pampering, a good meal, something that makes them feel alive and human, gentleness and kindness, appreciation, affection, a little creativity, something that keeps the brain active, some attention, a little inspiration, something emotionally stimulating, something (hopefully non-tragic) that reminds you not to take things for granted, something to make them smile, hug, a good night's sleep, a little love

Brown is not attractive when it's paper bag brown, and nothing in a person's home should ever be that colour, except paper bags.
Axl Rose and Gwen Stefani sing like they're gagging on their own tongues
I wear glasses, and have done so since I was two years old. I have no issue with this. It's simply a matter of course. Other people have more of an issue with it than I do. I refuse, therefore, to be made to feel badly for something that is a matter of existence, by people who can't handle or accept the tiniest imperfection in others.
Conversations are best when one person isn't left to hold the bag, bounce the ball, and cart the hors, all by themselves.
Ever wonder why the hell we have to return our seats to the upright position? I'd rather die laying down, thanks.
I really dislike people who don't take the hint of monosyllabic responses. Normally, this would indicate to anyone paying attention that, a) their audience doesn't want to hear about it, b) their audience doesn't want to hear about it "right now", or c) their audience really doesn't give a fuck, and is becoming quickly frustrated at being repeatedly and continually forced to listen to endless ramblings that will - should the speaker not stop soon - cause the audience to utter a very vociferous and emphatic "Would you please shut the fuck up?"
"Your generosity is only exceeded by your good looks." - my grandfather
Definition of the Commercialisation of Zen: Getting something for no-thing.

Eating the North American restaurant concept of a fair portion size, makes me feel like something that's being fatted up to be taken out for slaughter. My friends, small portions don't mean you're getting ripped off.
Preference is a choice one makes via investigation: "I have tried many things, and prefer this one over that one." Preference is only a priori when categorical decisions are made without investigation, without evidence, without thought.
Fair shake: If you expect it, then you should also give it, and everyone is deserving of it.
CUCUMBERSOME: A very large salad.
I've always found a way to keep myself harboured and sheltered from the very things that I probably most need. And some of those things are frightening, unsettling, things that jam into my gullet and gut and waggle their fingers and scare me to death.
I can curse in at least ten languages other than English, though my talents there are by no means scant. Amongst the more exotic of these languages are: Finnish, Hungarian, and Italian. My best cursing is done in French, however.
Given that I'm an atheist, and in good conscience couldn't swear on the Bible if called as a witness at a trial, on what would I swear? The OED? The Tao Te Ching? A box of Trivial Pursuit cards? A first edition Shakespeare folio?
Please to be remembering that this household's theme song is "I Do The Rock" by Tim Curry.
What more could you ask for in life than a companion who lets you finish your sentences.
"I occasionally spoke in these creative meetings of the 'tragedy' of my time, and the 'moral cowardice' of my generation. There has been no great bomb since that last one dropped on Japan, but there has been a steady erosion of what is natural. As my art school mentor Gustav Metzger says, "nature has been replaced by 'environment'. We no longer know the true values of natural life and art. We are slowly destroying ourselves in an 'autodestructive' society." - Pete Towsnhend, from the introductory notes to Lifehouse
BUREAUCRAZY: Because that's what the government does to you.

I think my favourite translation of an actual line from a Hong Kong martial arts film would have to be; "I am damned unsatisfied to be killed in this way!"
Zen state: When you can have both tea and no tea at the same time.
What did you first do for money?: Chores. Didn't we all? I once tried telephone sales as a teen, and I'm of the opinion that doing telephone sales is more traumatising than something that's usually incredibly traumatising.
There's too much 'white noise' in the lives of most people, so all these little things get drowned out. Plus, some have simply forgotten how to appreciate smallness, in a society so hung up on the grandiose.
I'll say one thing for myself; when drunk I may be embarrassing, but I'm not mean, loud, or vicious.
DISREMEMBER: I didn't forget. I just failed to remember.
Every once in a while I get the feeling that various musicians can see right through me.
Conversations are best when one person isn't left to hold the bag, bounce the ball, and cart the horse, all by themselves.

I wonder if Charles Mingus ever thought of the fact that his last name sounds more like genitalia than a name?
What I like to say when I either have nothing to say or don't want to respond: Lovely weather we're having. Beautiful plumage.
MALLEGE: The sort of educational "institution" that is more focused on making money than teaching, that one finds on stray street corners and in strip malls. Usually, out of cheap, fast, and reliable, one gets to pick two. In the case of the mallege, you get one - and it's not cheap or reliable.
I'm trying to work out ways of incorporating the immortal words of Marlon Brando into my everyday, or almost everyday, speech: "A one-way ticket to palookaville."
A godist is any person espousing a Christian faith, or believing in any form of a Christian deity. Any person who believes in God.
Lonnie: If you call me that, I'll unseam you from nave to chops with a blunt butter knife.

You always pay a price for profound gifts. They don't come free or cheaply.
When you are first getting ill the feelings of illness sometimes come and go, and can often be staved off with a good nap. The crapteau, the plateau of crappy, is that point at which you realise you need another nap because you can't fight the illness off any longer.
There are some things I just can't bear to throw away or get rid of in any fashion - like music, or books, and especially personal writing. Throwing

For me, I think one of the worst feelings in the world is knowing you've done something wrong, and knowing, too, that you will not be allowed to make amends for it.
Laundry is just such a time-suck, and I'm of the opinion that garbage should take itself out.
It's said that if your nose is itchy it means you're going to kiss a fool. My right ear and my left cheek are itchy; what do you suppose that'd get me in the kiss commodities market?
Once in a while I come across things I'd got for a specific purpose that never ended up getting used for that purpose. Most of the time this means nothing. But every once in a while I find something that touches a nerve, twigs my nostalgia, or aches. Today it was a Chinese parasol that I'd purchased a few months ago, which made me think of the reason I'd bought it. Now it will be decoration, something to help brighten my home. I don't think it'll ever be used for the original intention.
Don't speak for me when you can't even let me finish a sentence.
I remember once someone bitching about this film, saying it was far too simplistic, that the philosophy was too easy, etc. And I'm thinking, uh, they're teenagers, were you expecting Kierkegard or something?
I figure the perfect curry dish to honour Tim Curry would be curried frankenfurters.

If there's a better, or more versatile, alcohol on this planet, I sure as hell don't know what it is.
Brown is not attractive when it's paper bag brown, and nothing in a person's home should ever be that colour, except paper bags.
I used to be one of those people who took everything very personally. This caused me no end of trauma. This kept happening until the day I realised that if someone treats me poorly or without respect, in any fashion, it said a lot more about them than it said about me.
Do you have any idea what it's like for the eminently impatient to be patient with the most difficult item they face, themselves?
Sometimes the tools, trappings, and talent, mean nothing; sometimes the desire is all there is, and all there should be.
What makes a person a poet is not words, it is vision, perception, relation with the world around the person.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I don't know, I wasn't there.
It's at this point in your cleaning that you think, "Why didn't I leave it all alone?" or, "Why can't I be Mary Poppins?" or, "I wish I could hire someone to clean it for me." or, "Never again."
I've been trying to recall how and when I first learned about sex, and I can't. I remember the cartoon 'My Mom's Having A Baby', and some booklet about the menstrual cycle. But I really can't figure out how and when I learned the naming and usage and connection of parts. I know I wasn't 'sat down and had a talk with'. That's something my grandparents would never have done, and am I ever thankful for that. My grandmother still thinks virgins shouldn't use tampons.
I like a nice hat, or a silly one. Hat-wearing is a dying art, methinks. The fedora, the bowler, they're going the way of the dodo bird, and that's a truly saddening event.

Guys, trust me on this one: If you're starting to experience the wonder of the receding hairline, just take it all off. In most cases, you'll be doing yourself a favour.
I have discovered that there is a truly unfortunate thing about this time of year, autumn and thence unto winter. The temperature has a very bad habit of becoming non-warm. This bothers me. I am trying to discover what to do about it. I'm still waiting to be able to afford that temperature controlled bio dome I've been talking about. But that's another problem altogether: the unfortunateness (Unfortunateness? Bless the diversatility of the Englitch language.) of non-having of money.
A friend of the family, when I was a young lass, used to say "Up your giggy with a wire brush" an awful lot. It was not an expression of warm friendliness. It occurs to me, decades later, that I'm not sure if she meant the front or the back - though I am positive she meant the lower functioning portion of the human body. (What a weird expression.)

Did you know that the plural of cul de sac is culs de sac, not cul de sacs? Sometimes English boggles my noodle, but, this expression isn't English.
The second worst thing you can say about someone, is that they're a poor sport. The worst thing you can say is that they're a liar or hypocrite.
Teasles: I really enjoy a good cup of tea. It's unfortunate that I'm mostly incapable of making one, and must suffice with my substandard hack version of a cup of tea.
Shoebox: A repository of memories.
I think that it's in small acts that humans really prove themselves and give credibility to what we term as humanity.
"Real life is overrated. It's just a lot of odd smells and disappointments." - Ben Calder, Chasing Liberty
Most of the time, the grandest gestures come in the smallest packages.
TEASED: What you feel like after you drink a much anticipated, needed, or waited for cup of tea that invariably turns out to taste like boot mud.
A goddess of disturbed tranquillity.
Sometimes finding solace or simpatico in another is all human existence adds up to, all that it brings to anyone. That is not a bad thing, to find solace, understanding, someone with whom you can be at ease because you know they understand your fears, desires, and detritus, and they accept it all.
If you want fairness, be fair. If you want equality, treat others equally.
Do you think that 'meaning' is something you discover, something you create, something imposed by others, or something else? It's all those things. All those things create meaning - how you see a thing, how others see a thing, how that thing might see itself. All of it combines to give a significance or a sense to a thing.

Free is good. I especially like when you buy something, and they give you another thing with it. The freeness may be illusory, but it feels free, so I accept it as such. Sometimes, though, I wonder how certain things end up together in "free offer" pairings. Like the free long distance phone card I got in my box of frozen fish.
I prefer crossing my toes to crossing my fingers. That way, I can still type.
(Content warning: Gross) One day I got this chocolate bar from the grocery store, one of the family sized ones. I opened it, ate some, relished it (of course), then looked at what was left in the wrapper only to see little, green worms.
What do you do when vending machines steal your money? I make a face at them, possibly give them the finger, and then resign my money to coin-slot perdition
STINK FISH POT! One wonders whose job it was to contrive the colourful array of expletives employed by Frank Burns on MASH. One should, of course, pronounce this expletive string as if it were all one word.
You have to, for the greater part, solve your own problems. You have to take the step, cross the bridge, open the door, let in the light. No one else is going to do this for you. You have to be your own saviour. It makes you stronger in the end. Another thing that makes you stronger, is owning yourself - good and bad; taking responsibility for your actions, admitting your faults, embracing all sides of yourself.
Thinking not just forwards or backwards, it's to the left, around corners, backward, upsidedown, inside out.
I still can't remember which is near-sighted and which is far-sighted.
I lament the fact that I never got to see AC/DC, Pop Will Eat Itself, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and The Who.

I am convinced that my sometimes stellar ability at, and appreciation of, sarcasm was first seeded by my grandfather.
FANTASTY: When you can't be certain if what's causing the butterflies in your stomach is thoughts of your current paramour, or the fact you haven't eaten since breakfast.
The odd thing, is that when "perfect for you" comes around the corner and trips you up of a morning, it is never what you thought it would be, yet … it is exactly as it should be.
The world of worry is packed enough without borrowing more than you should rightly borrow to stuff it with.
If it can wait til morning, don't wake me up.
Even when it isn't cold, the wind, when howling through loose windows, always sounds cold. It reminds me of what desolation might feel like - like the sound of the loon's call. Sometimes it's somewhat nice, because it reminds me that I'm tucked up inside in a snug place, with tea, and snacks, and television to keep me company. Sometimes it makes for a lonely feeling, but not today.
What is the square root of all evil?
The impossible is sometimes the unwise; but I am not afraid of attempting the unwise. I have done it before, and I'm certain I'll do it again. Sometimes that's the only way to get the juice out of life.

Bad things about people are like conspiracies; if that's all you look for, that's all you're going to find.
I will not lie about my age. Own your age - make them take you as you are.
After I saw the Disney film Blackbeard's Ghost I wouldn't walk straight up to my bed if the lights in my room were out. I'd get to about a foot away from it then jump the rest of the way. That little problem lasted for a few years. And people say Disney films are harmless.
My Aunt Marie used to say that a person needs 17 hugs a day to survive. I'm not so sure she was in any way wrong.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to believe that pulpectomy was the removal of pulp from your orange juice, thus rendering it fit for human consumption? Sadly, it is not, nor does it have anything to do with oranges at all.
My passport states that it is the property of the government of Canada. This is fine, but if that's the case, why the hell did I have to pay for it?
I should remember much more frequently than I do, that there are some things in life you will never find, get, or have, unless you go out into the world and expose yourself to the means by which you will find, get, or have whatever it is you need.
Anarchart: Just do it.
I used to think, when I was younger, that if I wasn't the best at something, then my life was not complete. I learned, years later, that I was not a genius or a prodigy, and would never be either. I learned, after that, to be satisfied with both those facts, and at that point I learned to be satisfied with the one thing no one else but I could do - and that's being myself, and not comparing myself in that ugly manner of only against the measure of others.
Every time I hear or use the expression "nudist colony" I keep thinking of things like ant farms, or those seahorses you can grow yourself - like a Chia nudist - you just pour out the seeds, add water, and presto! Instant naked people! It's a product whose time has come.
I didn't forget; I just failed to remember.
If you're going to do something, do it right the first time. If you're going to do something badly, do it badly enough that the badness becomes art.
Icky: sugar in tea, diet pop, dogs that lick your face, wet slimy things in the sink when you do the dishes
I live alone, and am not one to leave the drawers in my dresser open after removing an item from it. So, when I come home and not only find that the drawer is open, but also find that my rubber-duckie festooned boxer shorts are right on top, I begin to wonder what might be going on around here when I exit my domicile. (Domicile always struck me as a word that only people in correctional facilities would use, or perhaps someone who's been hospitalised for reasons mentally medical in nature.)
"The words of the tongue should have three gatekeepers: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?" - Arab proverb
I hate socks. Actually, I'm not crazy about anything on my feet when I'm sitting around the house. I have no problem walking across concrete parking lots in my bare feet (this seemed to surprise one of my friends); and I can pick things up with my toes (but lots of people can do that).
I know more compounds and colourful uses of the word "fuck" than you do. To wit: fuckwit, fuckchop, fuckmunch, fuckup, fucker, fuckerdoodle, fucknut, motherfucker, fuck me, get fucked, go fuck yourself
I've always had a problem with critiquing something without sounding like I'm being a critic. There is, of course, a difference between being critical and critique - it's just not a skill of difference I've mastered, but I am getting better.
There may be a lot of positions in the government, but no matter what way you look at it, you're still getting fucked.
There are many definitions for the word try. When someone suggests you try something that can dissociate into a number of life-threatening solvents, they don't necessarily mean that you try it internally.
Burning rituals are common things when it comes to cleansing. Perhaps it's something we can all consider for ourselves. Pick something, something that is important for you to rid yourself of, a problem that needs solving, write it on a bit of paper, and burn the paper. It's important to let things go. Some things, after all, just aren't worth holding on to.
I hate chain letters. I hate someone telling me that my fate, my future, my fortune, will be determined by making a wish, reading a prayer, and sending the letter onwards to a set number of people within a set number of minutes or days. Why are we so suckered in by this sort of thing?
The shadows are as important as the light.

Flatware sets should contain twice as many forks as everything else in the set. The universality of the fork shortage requires it.
I was just thinking back on how much, as kids, my friends and I liked to play school - which is really amusing given how much we hated actually going to the real thing half the time.

Calling someone by the wrong name is not the worst faux pas you can commit - but it is when you keep calling your son's fiance by the name of his first wife.
Every person should have at least one vice.
Man got his sense of impropriety with nudity from eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden, or so the story goes if you ascribe to that sort of thing. This God person thought man was beautiful in his naked form. It baffles me still how some consider the naked form so dirty. If this God person thought the naked form was just dandy thanks, and you ascribe to his teachings, then your fear of the flesh is your fault.
I would like to climb a tree again, run through sprinklers, splash in puddles, pile up leaves only to mess them by jumping in and running through them. I would like to be as unbound now, as I was when I was little, before life started making other plans for me.
"I just don't want to come to the end of my life and have to say, 'I want things to be different, but I chickened out when I had the chance.'" - Grace, Something to Talk About
Quite by accident some years back I discovered that if I ate sausage or hot dogs the day of a Formula One race, Michael Schumacher would not finish, or would at least lose. I ate a lot of sausage that year.
I don't hold grudges, I hold discomforts. I don't like the thought of spending years of my life deliberately cultivating and nurturing an unhealthy dislike for another human soul, but there are times that a fracture occurs between two people, one that can never be truly or totally healed. And there you have it - the discomfort zone.
May you always be as vivid as your hallucinations.
I can't brain today - I have the dumb.
I think we're all prone to wanting to be what we aren't, simply because we get so used to being what we are that we lose sight of its value.
"You're rather odd and I'm okay with that." - can't remember
I've heard that durians are so smelly that they are banned from being carried on public transportation in some parts of the world. My wonder has always been, "If something smells that badly, how did people manage to find out it was edible, and more to the point, why did they want to?"
Ability does not equal necessity or right.
Participassion: Because it takes two who are into it in order to truly tango.

𝒎𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆, a plot-driven SIDEBLOG for the paradoxically rotting but not rotten specter made of grace and splendor with blended influences taken fro 𝓒𝓞𝓡𝓟𝓢𝓔 𝓑𝓡𝓘𝓓𝓔, 𝒯𝐻𝐸 𝐹𝐼𝒩𝒢𝐸𝑅, and other dark folkloric romantic tales; “ i know at last the lovely thing: it’s she! girl dark yet glimmering. ” ——— Charles Baudelaire, “A Phantom,” Flowers of Evil
what you’ll find: the eternal bloom of passion embodied, romanticism, grief, beauty in the macabre, the devastating tragedy of a young life cut short, the human desire to love and be loved, transformation, strength to find absolution, to be light. heavily mature and potentially triggering themes present.
this account ranges from high to sporadic activity, existing for current partners, open to others genuinely interested in writing with emily.
“ sometimes a spectre dim, reclining in grace and glory, can be seen. ”
💙 not a seasonal blog. i’ve been writing emily on and off this platform for multiple years, so it’s safe to say she won’t be going anywhere once october starts or ends.
💙 proceed with caution. adults only! there will be triggering material, be it in images reblogged or written text. subject matter including but not limited to: insects, violence, death and blood, descriptions of rot and gore, child negligence and its effects, alcohol abuse, toxicity, manipulation, antisemitism and religious themes. for emphasis, i will NOT roleplay opposite of writers who are minors.
💙 my portrayals are jewish. please be sure to read more about that here. after finding out the fairytale that inspired the film's conception was jewish, i went to great lengths to do research so as to alter my muses.
while i hold a sentimental love for the film, i feel strongly about doing my best to honor the roots of the folktale. consider my blog fundamentally and culturally divergent with effort made to mesh the original corpse bride's jewish heritage. tl;dr emily is jewish, victor is jewish, victoria is christian but converts to judaism in the end and eventually has a second jewish wedding with her husband; barkis himself was motivated by antisemitism and targeted affluent jewish women — he targets victoria for her wealth because he's desperate, but what pushes him over the edge is finding out she's engaged to a rich jewish man. if this is an issue for anyone, i'm sure there are plenty of solely 𝘵𝘪𝘮 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘰𝘯 compliant takes out there for you to enjoy.
💙 extremely au, crossover, and oc friendly. i love writing emily, dead or alive. she has a wide range available to her in terms of interactions. i’m open to practically everything, provided it’s plotted. i love writing emily have the chance to live and find her happy ending, but i enjoy exploring the bittersweet that comes with abiding by her story too.
the film she comes from is described as dark fantasy, and the original tale is even more tragic considering its nonfictional ties. emily is unique in the sense that it feels natural to explore her in fluffy bubblegum plots, more creepy, horror-centric ones, that or a nuanced mixture of all of the above. the possibilities are endless, though there will always be undertones of the disturbing. current verses of hers that i write in: pre-death, post-mortem, 𝓡𝓔𝓐𝓓𝓨 𝓞𝓡 𝓝𝓞𝓣, 𝓣𝓗𝓔 𝓝𝓘𝓖𝓗𝓣𝓜𝓐𝓡𝓔 𝓑𝓔𝓕𝓞𝓡𝓔 𝓒𝓗𝓡𝓘𝓢𝓣𝓜𝓐𝓢, and more. i tend to default to writing in period settings because part of her draw is her origin, but if it’s discussed and established, i’m open to throwing her into modern time periods. feel free to check out verses available for plotting.
💙 obviously emily is very big on finding love. as i’ve been writing her for some time, i’ve developed many headcanons, including her preferences and thoughts on romantic prospects. i consider emily incredibly romanceable. more so when she’s alive but not exclusively. who says she can’t find love in the afterlife or post mortem? in other words, i’m open to exploring different kinds of romantic possibilities, whether it’s set in a verse where she’s dead or alive. the muse is open and ready for it, and the writer is willing, provided a romantic dynamic makes sense and is intriguing. this blog will be a more romance-heavy one due to the muse herself being so inclined towards it.
💙 also up for platonic relationships. friendships built on solidarity, mentor/mentee, characters able to fill a family-like role of some sort are all particular interests of mine in either her dead or alive verses. emily is a character who was murdered while quite young which is part of her tragedy. she’s the charismatic darling of the underworld and some of her closest friends are a black widow and a maggot. dead or alive, girl is not only easy to fall in love with but befriend.
💙 emily's age typically ranges from eighteen to twenty-five. in neither the film nor the fairytale is she ever portrayed as underage regardless, though her specific age will vary depending on the verse and plot. she’s a passionate muse in every sense of the word, body, mind, soul. there will be mature content in the form of reblogs. i’m technically open to it, but i prefer not to write actual smut. anything pre and post on the other hand is fine.
as for other mature subject matters, definitely expect to both read and see mentions along with possible visuals of gore, trauma, body horror and blood. that’s a given since i play the character her film is named after while embracing the darkness that can be entailed. themes of dark fantasy and romantic horror will abound. i’m up for everything from action, adventure, romance, comedy, angst, tragedy, no genre is off limits. i can go both light and dark. everything will be tagged appropriately.
💙 memes will never be time-locked. you can send in as many memes as you like when my password is lifted, or to my discord when it is locked. i'll reply when i have inspiration and time. sometimes i have a habit of saving memes and replying ages later. either way i'll move it to a post onto here. unless i mention i would rather we don't continue it, you're free to reply. also, specify the muse please! IF a meme goes unreplied, i promise it's not you, it's me.
💙 i'm a serial plotter. memes can be fun jumping off points but even for memes i like a little discussion!
plotting is my favorite. i love the mutual intentionality and investment required of plots, i love knowing the general direction a thread is going, all while still having room for spontaneity and fun surprises along the way. it's simply the most fun for me. thus, plotted threads will always remain the highest priority.
💙 i write victor and victoria as heavily headcanon-based request muses. they're available on a limited basis. by default i write them as engaged or married to their significant other. in order to preserve my muses for both i plan to take on a modest amount of threads so i don't become burnt out and / or feel like they're detracting from emily. i am open to writing them, i just want emphasis placed on the fact that this blog exists for emily. so i never want it to feel like it's being overrun by either as i only picked them up because of writing her. if at any point emily were to be dropped, so would they.
please note that in order to potentially romance victoria or victor partners will need to be TRANSPARENT so that it can be discussed prior to writing! otherwise they will be 'taken' or in love, with room for nothing but platonic development on their side.
💙 icon usage is on a request basis, as is the medium featured ( animated vs live action ). i use 𝒊𝒏𝒃𝒂𝒓 𝒍𝒂𝒗𝒊, 𝒑𝒉𝒐𝒆𝒃𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒕 𝒅𝒚𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒐𝒓, 𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒂𝒏 𝒍𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏 for my faceclaims at this time. i do not personally associate myself to any of them, nor are they making any profit over being used as faceclaims. icons or no icons, i'm just excited to write and personally feel they best embody my interpretations.
only fatesrecollection has informed me privately that they would like for me to use icons in my replies, both animated and live action. as no one else has specified, all other responses will be iconless.
💙 let's talk exclusives. i'll do it if it makes sense ( such as being a highly unconventional and unique crossover concept i.e. 𝓡𝓔𝓐𝓓𝓨 𝓞𝓡 𝓝𝓞𝓣 ). that or if it's requested of me, then i'll happily go along with it. especially for longtime writing partners. but since i'm keeping my pool of potential partners small by choice, i want to remain at least somewhat open for the purposes of having range.
in the cases of other popular halloween stop-motion media, i will not be doing exclusives. currently open to having up to two mains generally. i'm confident that with plotting and basic respect given to all parties, threads and dynamics can stay unique from one another. for example, romance vs platonic, muse a meeting muse b under different circumstances, and so on.

💙 emily is one of my most highly concentrated muses, and i have been writing her for several years, so novella / multipara is most likely what you'll see. i'm up for single para or shorter if that's what's preferred. word count doesn't matter. match me, or don't. on the flip side of that, i also don't want to feel shamed for how much i can write.
💙 fandoms i'm uninterested in interacting with: 𝘩𝘱, 𝘵𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘺 ( i'll follow multis, i just won't write with these muses ). at this time i'm willing to make exceptions regarding 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘺 if they come from media such as 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒎𝒂𝒔, 𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒏𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒆, 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒔, 𝒉𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝒑𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔, 𝒉𝒂𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏, etc but some plotting will be required. fun fact, the mouse originally released 𝒕𝒏𝒃𝒄 under touchstone and didn't want it associated to their brand because they thought it was too scary. 𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒏𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒆 got 𝘵𝘪𝘮 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘰𝘯 fired, which i find hilarious.
💙 i'm not interested in hating on either victoria or emily to bring the other down. both existed during a time period where women were reduced to broodmares and sexually repressed, living at the mercy of victorian morality.
speaking specifically of my portrayals, their struggles aren't exactly alike as victoria becomes "genteel poor" and bears the burden of saving herself and her family from destitution. meanwhile, emily faces antisemitism, a pressure to be extraordinary and prove the worthiness of her lineage despite her status — as many others within the nobility are unhappy with the margolis' recent rise to earldom, since it further equates their humanity, which is deemed inferior; while she's heavily sought out for her surplus of marriageable attributes in life, the peerage treat and view emily as an exotic prize, a conquest to be won. both for social and political reasons.
there are shared similarities in the struggles between both women, and if they met while emily was alive, they could very well have been friends ( or more hehe ) who found solace in one another.
emily has always been my favorite, but i adore victoria. i'll never stand to see anyone trash either. not worried about this so much now that i've gone the hyper private route but figure it doesn't hurt to mention.
💙 this is a password protected sideblog. granted, it'll be on and off. if we're friends you already know the drill, but if you're a newcomer, you may follow but i'll only consider us mutuals IF i reach out and / or follow from my private writing hub. no sharing of my password once it's been given in private, please and thank you.
💙 unopen to writing with other variants outside the ones i already plan to on at this time. i already have an emily, victoria and victor i'm biased towards and am looking forward to giving all my attention.
💙 disclaimer: nonjewish person here. i've done my best to become more educated with research. in the end, i don't have those life experiences. the history behind the folktale is a grim one that i only recently learned. i'm just a nb indigenous person that believes in putting in effort where and when it matters. i'm always aiming to do my best but if there are ANY missteps i apologize, and i am open to constructive criticism.
💙 hi, this is one of many private sideblogs that i have as i no longer feel comfortable remaining on this platform in a longterm public capacity. sometimes i'll be hopping with activity, other times it'll be a ghost town. emily has always been one of my consistently highest muses though, and remains so, even now that i prefer to write ocs over canons. so that says a lot! though i basically consider these muses ocs due to how many headcanons i've poured into them and the fact they're influenced ethnically by the original fairytale. my friend jem made everything pretty for me graphics-wise with my basic input. credit for the dash icon currently in use goes to the pngpixie.
