as much as i want- no need oscar to win a grand prix as soon as possible for my own mental health, i think we all need to take a moment and think about how early into oscar's f1 career we still are. imola '24 was oscar's 28th grand prix start.

let's take a look at a list of the drivers on the grid that have won and how many race starts it took for them to achieve their maiden victory:

sergio perez (190), carlos sainz (150), lando norris (109), george russell (81), valtteri bottas (81), esteban ocon (78), daniel ricciardo (57), pierre gasly (55), charles leclerc (34), max verstappen (23), fernando alonso (13), lewis hamilton (6).

those stats show just how impressive it is that we're even talking about the possibility of oscar winning a grand prix, because the only people who had achieved a win at this point in their careers are the three world champions currently on the grid.

so again, i want oscar to win as soon as possible for his sake and for my own, but to quote oscar himself: 'i have been happy with how I’ve been performing. of course, i want to get some better results for that but i'm sure if i keep doing the right thing, that time will come.'

i honestly believe lando needs to be more concerned about charles and oscar catching him than how close ehe is to max. if he’s too focused on purely beating max, he could finish abu dhabi in p4 in the wdc

based on the latest episode of grill the grid im synthesising the perfect pub quiz team. important to understanding my process is that im not only considering who would help me win the quiz but who would provide me with adequate entertainment during winning of said quiz. my choices are:

1. oscar, genuinely good at the trivia but very subtle and sweet about it. would not be yelling out answers at top volume for other teams to copy

2. alex. i am unspeakably charmed by his inability to remember things that he clearly knows. flailing and holding his head in his hands seem to be his default response - i would enjoy this. let men be terrible at trivia and bully them a bit for it <3

3. logan, knows enough to get by but very much not a sore loser when he can’t come up with an answer. very chill! demonstrative of the vibe we would like to establish as a team. i feel like he’d be really good at the music round of your average pub quiz, he’d pull it out of the bag out of nowhere

4. valtteri - wildcard!!! not remotely there for the trivia but i went to a pub quiz once where one of your team had to down a pint the fastest in competition with someone from every other team and i have genuine faith valtteri would destroy that challenge. sorry to stereotype you, finnish people :(

I feel like people are forgetting that Piastri would have won without team orderers IF they had let him box before Norris.

The only reason Norris got ahead to begin with was because of the second pit stop situation and wanting to defend second place from Hamilton.

I love Lando Norris and would have loved to see him win again but this race belonged to Oscar. It's such a shame that his first win has been tainted by this drama.
