as much as i want- no need oscar to win a grand prix as soon as possible for my own mental health, i think we all need to take a moment and think about how early into oscar's f1 career we still are. imola '24 was oscar's 28th grand prix start.
let's take a look at a list of the drivers on the grid that have won and how many race starts it took for them to achieve their maiden victory:
sergio perez (190), carlos sainz (150), lando norris (109), george russell (81), valtteri bottas (81), esteban ocon (78), daniel ricciardo (57), pierre gasly (55), charles leclerc (34), max verstappen (23), fernando alonso (13), lewis hamilton (6).
those stats show just how impressive it is that we're even talking about the possibility of oscar winning a grand prix, because the only people who had achieved a win at this point in their careers are the three world champions currently on the grid.
so again, i want oscar to win as soon as possible for his sake and for my own, but to quote oscar himself: 'i have been happy with how I’ve been performing. of course, i want to get some better results for that but i'm sure if i keep doing the right thing, that time will come.'
#f1#oscar piastri#peep the oscar fans (george and valtteri)#also the absolutely bonkers stat of it only taking 6 races for lewis to get his first win#(it only took 7 starts for lewis to win his second gp btw 'cause his first two victories were back to back 🤯)#if you think any of these stats are wrong#no they aren't 'cause i refuse to triple check them#(but they should be right)#anyway i am never looking at f1 stats ever again#lando norris#george russell#lewis hamilton#carlos sainz#charles leclerc#esteban ocon#pierre gasly#max verstappen#sergio perez#valtteri bottas#daniel ricciardo#fernando alonso
