in singapore all everyone could talk about was lando and his 20 second lead over max (british media praising tf out of lando)

in brazil, all british media can talk about is how lando needs to recover, absolutely not even praising max, nor coming to the press conference.

My favourite thing about this performance was that it was all but a repeat of 2016. Max arrived in F1 with that performance already in him.

He came in with that skill, that fearlessness, and that speed which gave him P3. And 8 years later it was all that and experience that gave him P1

In this weekend, Lando highlights again why more people have started to dislike him, and not only because it’s a popular thing.

See, there were still a lot of laps after the red flag, there has been other incidents after it as well, there were opportunities to catch up. But he didn’t. It didn’t have to do only with strategy, Lando drove badly today. If we compare it to Max’s drive, Lando did mistakes, went off track, got himself overtaken again and didn’t have the pace.

So after that, you can accept your loss in this weekend gracefully, or act like a brat about it. For example, discrediting the three drivers that climbed on the podium, including your rival in the championship, that never spoke against you despite your first win being gifted through a convenient safety car.

You can say there was luck with it, but in this race and especially in that situation, you create your own luck. Max, Pierre and Esteban bet on a red flag, and got it right. If the others wanted to benefit from it as well, they had to take the risk of counting on it.

Let’s also not forget that other than luck, Max started freaking P17. Esteban and Pierre weren’t P2 and P3 right away either. They had to overtake drivers, survive with their tyres, and keep a good pace without being caught up by other cars. If they truly had only luck, and no talent, the podium probably wouldn’t have been what it was today.

It’s normal to be frustrated after a race that didn’t go the way you hoped, but being a sore loser to the point of discrediting others, is what makes someone dislikable.

I used to be okay with Lando, but the more time pass, the more I found his declarations insensitive, immature and even rude. He’s supposed to be a driver advocating for mental health, but when it was about George and Lewis suffering from heat after a Grand Prix, he was dismissive of it and tried to bring the conversation back to himself.

That kind of behavior, with the constant lack of respect for other f1 drivers, is what made me lose respect in turn for Lando, and no longer wanting to support him. And I know I’m not the only one feeling that way toward him.

i feel like it's high time that we start talking about the elephant in the room (regarding fia and mclaren and this sprint specifically):

before starting to drag mclaren down ans wipe the floor with them i want to congratulate oscar for driving so amazingly good at the sprint, he deserved the win 100%

now onto the bigger elephant in the room:

what was that fia? why did it take so long for you to announce the vsc? why did you have to wait until mclaren swapped positions? why? someone could have gotten hurt, yes i'm serious about that. FIA at the sprint cares more about the championship and helpinb mclaren than the safety of their drivers

oh and about that, max got a 5 second penalty, which resulted in him being 4 and helping lando win 4 points more. really blew your cover there fia. reallg blew it.

atp they should name this sport. formula brits or formula lando since they like to help him so much.

max outclassed lando at the spring by a mile (and that wheel to wheel racing between max and charles was amazing)

while lando crying about overtaking oscar, max was gaining in him big time so fia if you want lando to win be vocal about it already. give him the thropy and all this bullshit can end

i saw this comment and i want to leave it here: lando is not into a fight for the championship. he's just second into the championship.

i feel like we need to talk about the championship mentality cause whenever i open tumblr i see something to some extent talking about lando or max or even both of them when it comes to this "title fight" as british media loves to call it

in my pov i feel like to be a world champion in f1 the championship mentality is needed but not to that level of extent as everyone makes it seem like. For example, max is a 3 times world champion because of his driving, the way he approaches media is very different from lando and the way he is percieved by it. His driving style and how he sees racing in the first place matter a lot. I remember him saying in an interview that he's here to race, not to be medias puppet or something along those lines, but it would be a shame not to mention that yes he has a championship mentality.

on the other side, lando in my opinions doesn't have it, but also the way he refers to racing is different than max. His childhood was much more different than maxs. By no means am i saying that he is not championship material, he can definetly be but he needs time. Take for example, he can't keep pole position most of the time, but that's also because he isn't used to being in pole position like max is so here experience shows. Media percieves him as this golden boy of mclaren wherea max is the villan. (yes there is also the british bias, even if you like it or not)

before i end this rant i want to say that when fighting for a title (even if it 10 points away or even 40 or so) it's a small fight nonetheless (even if i don't think this year max actually had a title contender besides himself) the driving that each driver has is different and will show when fighting for a place. But i think lando this time, because in austin he was shown by max a masterclass in defense and plus he wasn't attacking him one bit. This time lando actually shows a bit more confidence in himself which i'm happy for him he finally is gaining the confidence to actually challenge max.

But to actually fight with max for a title i think he needs more than the british media helping him (sorry not sorry)

i hate to see these differences of wording and persception when it comes to drivers, for example:

in austin, when lando got a 5 second penalty: people said it was a joke, he didn't deservedit, it was uncalled for etc

in mexico, when max got a 20 second penalty: people said he deserves more penlties, that it wasn't enough, ban him etc

hey! hi! hello! i'm not the one to yap about the so called championship fight that the media is trying to push on us which annoys me (maybe i'll start yapping more here lol)

before i start, i want to remind you all about the points difference between max and lando when it comes to championship battle that is currently 57 points.

now that i'm finally starting i want to start by saying that i do not consider this whole season that max actually had a championship contender to fight with. this will shock some lando fans but when i say competition i mean 10-20 points between 1st place and 2nd. A good example is with max and lewis in 2021 when they entered in abu dhabi with the same number of points (crazy fr). That was actually a competition.

second of all, i totally understand what the media is trying to do by portraying it like a title fight so the season will not be boring, but also to help new fans be interested in f1. BUT AND A BIG BUT i think they're forgetting an important aspect (along with their british bias) that lando does have a fast car, but he has never had a fast car before.

before you go and bash me for being mean to lando and a hater. i wanna say that lando hasn't had a championship winning car ever since he came to mclaren so he isn't that used to getting poles and podiums almost on a daily basis, that's why he never manages to keep that pole position when the race starts.

also, he is not having a competition with a small little f1 pilot but with a 3 time world champion who is known for his aggressive style of driving and going all in when it matters. that also will never seize to get the most out of ones mistake. so he is under pressure.

again, i don't know how lando handles pressure but from what i have seen from the fights he had with max that he usually goes off track or dive bombs.

i'll not express myself when it comes to that pole position that max had in the bag for the us gp or even the battle between max and lando because fia knows the rules. I simply don't know them. but max gave lando a masterclass when it comes to defense and i'm not the only one saying that. and this is gonna be controversial when i say this but when lando got the penalty i knew that the british bias would come through (it always does). how Ted Cravitz felt the need to mention that he is a "neutral observer" but then say that the penalty that lando got was unfair. BUT AND THE BIGGEST BUT IF max would have gotten it than i bet you that everyone would have agreed and been happy about it.

before i say that i wanna say that if lando wants to win this championship (and i'm not gonna be mean but it has never been a fight because mclaren woke up to late to give those upgrades to lando they should have given him the upgrades in australia or even a bit later, plus max has an advantage of 2 race wins which helped him a lot) he should be more confident in his moves and try not to go off track that much. as for max he needs to do what he is doing, being consistent (and i also want to mention that after singapore the number od points separating max and lando were the same as in miami, yes i'm gonna praise max, move on) and be ahead of lando as much as possible.

update: so i saw a girl on tiktok being very offended (or at least that's what she seemed to me) she was talking about how lando fans have the pressure off for the championship, but charles fans are very positive than he can win. AND i want to tell her something, unlike lando who has a fast car and had it for some time, charles can actually win with a fast car (yes i'm being shady but i had to, sorry not sorry)

i haven't known danny for long cause i haven't watched f1 for the long but whenever i felt sad or needed a good laugh i would always watch him and max in interviews. he is such a sunshine and i hope everything goes well to him because he hasn't had a proper goodbye by his own team. but he left by giving help to max in the championship, taking the grand slam from lando.
