What's worse about the toxic masculinity introduced in Act 6, that theme gets brought up again in the book commentaries where Andrew Hussie describes Eridan Ampora as being the PROTOTYPE Caliborn. How? Most people had compared Caliborn with Karkat more if not only for their CAPS LOCKS, the red candy color theme, or possible limeblood connection, but mannerisms in being an prick while also being strangely charming for audiences that it was hard to fully hate him, even when he said awful things. Even if Eridan Ampora was said to be the beta version of what Caliborn would act like, why didn't he as a character have more connection to Caliborn like what Gamzee or Dirk have as parts of Lord English? If it was 'originally planned' that Eridan was the base for Caliborn, why isn't he more involved like them outside of Doc Scratch predicting he would go Grimdark for Murderstuck? I call bullshit on another one of the stuff Hussie claims it was planned from the start. Hussie even has the nerve to say Nepeta is the proto-Calliope in return on that same book commentaries. But the two characters are barely seen on-screen talking to each other outside of mentions that Eridan flirted with her when he was helping her get in the game, but Nepeta rejected his advances. If you are gonna call characters as the working versions of new ones, it probably be best to address then WHY these two never got to be part of a big role like them.

If Sollux is the one who smells a rat, then maybe the mechanism of the Mistake relates to one of his interests, such as coding. Sollux would surely notice the telltale signs of a botched ~ATH script, or other supernatural programming error. 

Sburb’s source code doesn’t control the Medium - but it did transport the kids there. Maybe they’ll try to reverse this process, opening a gateway out of the Incipisphere to escape their failed session - but since none of them can code properly, the program actually tears holes in unrelated sessions, such as the trolls’.

Actually, let’s think about this. Now that I’m familiar with all the trolls, how do I think each of them is reacting to their failure? 

Aradia saw this coming, of course. Before the session, she was completely 0k with their inevitable failure - but now that she’s partially alive again, that might be about to change. We do know that she’s going to be uncomfortable with Project Trolling - but why? 

Tavros misses Prospit. That aside, he’s probably just happy to get to relax after their month-long campaign. 

Sollux is suspicious. Something has gone very wrong, and he suspects that the cause lies outside the session. Plus, he’s apparently been spending a lot of time with Feferi... 

Nepeta probably misses the outdoors. We don’t know much about her role in the session, so I can’t tell if she’s going to be heavily involved in the current crisis. What’s a Rogue to do? 

Kanaya is surrounded by her scared, confused teammates, and her level-headedness is surely being tested. She’s probably working closely with more reasonable trolls like Karkat, and desperately scanning Rose’s guide for any clues about their situation. Once she realizes the truth, she’s going to be livid. 

Terezi’s skills lie with people. She’s keeping a close eye on her peers, trying to figure out how they’re responding to this disaster, and who might become a problem. She also finds the whole thing kind of funny. 

Isn’t it awful, Vriska, to be forced into a loss through no fault of your own?

Equius probably blames the session’s failure on its lowblood leader. He might try to take command, but I think he’ll be distracted by relationship drama with Aradia. That one ain’t gonna last.

Gamzee hasn’t been paying attention, and still thinks the session is in full swing. He’s just chillin’. 

Eridan doesn’t understand what went wrong, and doesn’t care - he’s still struggling with the fallout of Alternian societal collapse. Unlike Equius, he has no relationships to distract him, and I’m expecting an actual coup attempt. 

Feferi has grown closer to Sollux, who is about to locate the humans. She’s probably involved in this search, since she’s going to unite the two races.

But they still have holidays. 

If that isn’t the most bittersweet thing I’ve ever heard. Alternia scoffs at art, fashion, peace and family, but in a strange twist of fate, it does not scoff at Sweep’s Eve - presumably, the troll equivalent of New Year’s Eve. On this brutal, pragmatic planet, these kids celebrate the simple joy of a new beginning - just like us. 

There’s a crumb of warmth baked into Alternian society, despite everything its leaders have done to stamp it out.

This marks the FIRST post of many I will make detailing my old work. I'm gonna start posting these weekly as to make it easy others AND for me. And what better way to start it off by the month I finally got a tablet. (and turnt 18 too I guess)

I was not a smart 18 year old, I some how barely survived the last 2 years of high school, and this and the next would become the worse it ever got. Yet I still persisted and somehow stay sane. Kinda. Keep that in mind for the bulk of 2021's art in the following weeks.

Ah here we go, I finally got a drawing tablet. I got REALLY excited with the pen pressure that I kinda gone overboard with it, but it was nice to use one. I may just be autisming but what are your thoughts on the fact that we're gonna see two confirmed violet bloods in hiveswap act 3 (I personally don't think fiamet is actually a violet blood I think she mugged someone otherwise she would have no reason to talk in grey really), because like, we're finally gonna see if other violet bloods are similar to eridan or if he's an outlier, or like, what is seadweller society actually like??? Im stimming over here on we get to see so much in hiveswap act 3

oooh honestly? not entirely sure what my thoughts are tbh! as much as i want to be REALLY invested, act 2 was so "ah, okay" for me that i still havent tried to 100% the achievements lmao; im sure the next act will be fine, but being wary means i just havent been following too closely lol

anyways; jerran with the big beanie (and tie and jacket and shades lmao) looks like he has a personality i might like under that busy design, but i feel like i'd need to see some actual interaction to get a better impression lmao

fiamet is very cute!! extra applause for the aquamino sign being associated with her lmao; now that you say it, i wouldnt necessarily be surprised if they pull a twist on fiamets blood-- starting to suspect it, the more i think about it-- but i think it'd be more interesting if she was violet! with those olive accents, even if she turns out to be lime instead, i think it'd just feel like someone messing around with fanon nepeta's whole shtick as a new character, yknow? at least as a violet blood it'd feel more like a bloodswap turned original character; though i suppose theres always the chance ill feel different or be proven wrong on that vibe check when i get to play the chapter lmao

cridea feels..? generic? maybe unimposing is what im looking for; everything about her besides the violetblood traits and accessories feels VERY background character of her, and hearing her hive theme makes me think of an old middleschool "best friend" im not too fond of; i just find im more excited about seeing a seadweller on my screen than i am wanting to know her when it comes down to this one lmao

Homestuck Teen Beach Movie AU

I got thinking on Teen Beach Movie, and realized it's a movie that should be turned into a situational AU for many, many series (The whole scenario, I should mention. Not just the movie in a movie that's a parody of an interpretation of Romeo and Juliet). So... Homestuck..? :) (Sorta Humanstuck as well? The movie stars trolls, even if the canon character is a human, and vice versa for the "real world")

Long Explanation under cut

Jake English and Nepeta Leijon-Vantas both adore exploring around the beach, occasionally with her older brother, Karkat. However, Jake's getting old enough he needs to start getting ready for university, and has been given acceptance to a really good school in another country as a top choice, much to Nepeta's dismay.

But, for one last adventure, they end up getting caught in a freak storm with a massive wave dragging them both under alongside Karkat, who came to help quell any fighting. They end up in Jake's silly movie, (which I haven't a name for, so we're gonna use the name in the original movie) Wet Side Story, with Jake being a fan of both groups (which are based off the dream moon split from both pre-scratch universes(Earth A and Beforus), including the beta kids(Johsan Fyblow(John) is Canus, Ruzena Gliade(Rose) is Virpia, Bedwyr Minsel(Dave) is Gemries, and Diopsi Lapine(Jade) is Pigo)), while Nepeta just wants to go home and Karkat busy critiquing the story of the movie. As in the original film, the longer they're there, the film begins to... assimilate? them into the world, slowly turning them into trolls(all having their signs from Homestuck proper, with Karkat and Nepeta's "birthdays" moved forward a month so they're actually a Cancer(6/12 -> 7/12) and a Leo(7/4 -> 8/4)).

To add to the problems of "going home", Jake and Nepeta accidentally ruin the big scene at the end of Act 1, where the bookish Aranea finally gains the confidence to sing, only to almost fall of the stage, being caught by Cronus, except Nepeta ends up dancing with the violetblood, leaving Jake to catch Ms. Serket. Thus, leading to things falling apart in Film Land.

Thus, (since I'm cutting out the original film's villains; I have a different idea for "villains" in this AU) the story becomes a comedy as Jake and Nepeta need to get Cronus and Aranea back together before the reel runs out, stranding them and Karakt as trolls forever.

Any ideas?

·"Nepeta" Leijon: 612-A/A1/Beforus timeline. Maybe went by a diff name but cant remember. Meulin's ancestor. Feferi's matesprit (or moirail?) At some point...Beforus was destroyed during the A1 sgrub session, and most Beforus trolls exist as ghosts in dream bubbles.

·Nepeta Leijon (game over): 612-B/A2/Alternia timeline. Meulin/Disciple's descendant. raised on Alternia, until sgrub session destroys planet. Beaten to death by Gamzee, during murderstuck arc...Later prototyped into Roxy's kernalsprite, along with Feferi (who also died this timeline), making Fefetasprite. We died again later on than the trickster mode arc, during [S] game over....maybe as the player planets crashed into each other? These versions of me and Feferi return to the dream bubbles after this (as ghosts), but I think eventually got killed by Lord English, or sucked into alt Callie's black hole-

·Nepeta Leijon (retcon): murderstuck arc gets retconned, unlike game over timeline, repairing the alpha timeline...June uses their retcon powers to not only prevent murderstuck, but has all the beta trolls god tier (before their derse and prospits are destroyed). Ascended rogue(muse?) of heart, who eventually lives on Earth C, after we win sburb/spurb. At some point Vriska is my kismesis.

·(name removed for privacy): 413-A/B1/Earth A timeline...an angel who originally lived in the tsot era. Freed from some sort of magical imprisonment (??) And taken in by king Eric and princess Kenny. Becomes incredibly loyal to princess Kenny......Eric uses my angelic power to attempt to wipe out the elves, but me and kenny overthrow him. At some point snow day happens, and the blizzard eventually kills all the tsot counterparts. Kenny ensures our souls are reincarnated within the same timeline...

·(name removed for privacy): 413-A/B1/Earth A timeline. Again.....technially a direct reincarnation of tsot counterpart. born around mid 90s/early 2000s as an angel. Raised in Heaven but sent to Earth, to live in South Park, as a sort of apocalypse-messenger? makes sure sp kids play spurb. Beta kids play sburb in 2009, but certain time paadoxes keep timeline from ending just yet....tweeksnothere/hellpark/plushpark/campsunvalley/evapark events happen around early/mid 2010s, and spurb happens after 3rd impact. A lot of us are more like "fanon" south park within this timeline if that makes sense, while most episode events happen on Earth B's timeline-

Ive also got neko memories for this timeline, so maybe its from being expiremented on....Tfbw is canon in this timeline, with powers from the game being real. Tsot also happens but is just a roleplay, unlike the tsot events on Earth A....inside job takes place around post covid, and project reboot ends up creating hundreds of doomed timelines, and cracks within paradox space/the multiverse. Thanks 2 project reboot, Sgrub/sburb/spurb/etc souls are redirected to 216-B.

I did this the long way, I suppose - I listed all the players it could have been, then ranked them from zero to five. A ranking of 4 of 5 means they were one of the 9 to 11. I also didn't count the dancestor trolls, as I hadn't asked for them when I originally rolled for an answer!

0 - they weren't close at all 1 - they thought about it 2 - they had a plan but didn't go through with it 3 - you could talk them out of it 4 - you were able to subtly stop them 5 - you had to do something drastic to stop them

i always really liked hs^2. i thought it was fun and compelling melodrama. people got really mad that it was "ruining the characters" or whatever, but i never really understood why they were so upset, when like. well first of all you can (and SHOULD) just stop reading it if you dont like it anymore. but second of all, i didnt think it really changed anyones characters THAT significantly. and also. to be quite honest, the characters it made evil were ones i never liked anyway. "wow they totally fucked up gamzees character :/ hes just evil now" he killed nepeta???? were you like. not there for that part or.

and people being big mad about dirk was even more baffling because i really didnt like dirk in homestuck but i found him VERY compelling in hs^2. but i guess he and jake werent doing enough cute yaois and thats all that mattered to a lot of people :/

anyway, i didnt fault them for stopping production on hs^2 considering all the needless vitriol the team got. i dont think i would want to keep working on a webcomic where the audience kept sending me death threats because i wrote JANE EGBERT of all people being too mean. but im concerned that since its a new team working on it now, theyre just gonna undo everything the original team did, because a lot of it was so unpopular and James in the news post said he wanted to "engage with the community more", which makes me think that his goal is to. uh. make the broader homestuck fandom like the new stuff. which would mean undoing a lot of the really unpopular stuff that people didnt like, even though i thought that was the most interesting stuff about the original run of hs^2

Hm.. oh! I actually look a bit different than my game sprite. My wheelchair is a bit different and I’m able to control it with a stick connected to my wheelchair, rather than get pushed around by vriska, and my hair is actually tied into a braid!

Karkat dated equius in his source. He didn’t have a close connection with Dave, knew him a bit but preferred equius. Nepeta was also considered a niece to him.

Gamzees horns look like antlers rather than ram horns LOL. Still pointy, but more resembling antlers.

Host actually has 3 colors in his hair in headspace. Brown, light brown, and blonde! He has looked this way for a long while. Another fact is that he is a shapeshifter!

Leonardo was a knight in his source, not a paladin like his original source. He also had a disconnection with his old paladins (Keith, pidge, blah blah blah yk) and hates them a lot.

Yorak is actually fully blind and mute! He’s blind due to an injury he got from his brother (shiro), and he has always been mute.

Gidgie is actually bigender and has two forms! Not to mention he’s the guy from Scott pilgrim :)

Andrew is the only straight and non-introject guy here LOL

Felix likes to pretend he’s a cat sometimes, and he usually does it when he’s in front, such as pouncing on stuff. He also really likes Minecraft!
