This was my first ever digital drawing, back in 2017!
and now, 7 YEARS LATER!!! ❤
Original - drawn April 2017 Redraw - drawn October 2024
of course my first ever digital drawing was Undertale related lmao
How's that for a glow up huh? I look back on that old drawing and laugh a little, cause I was genuinely trying to figure out how to shade softly and render like every digital artist I saw, but I very much did NOT understand or research how to do so lol it's admittedly very fun to look at old art, cause despite being frustrated at myself while learning digital art at the time, I'm happy to have stuck with it and kept going!

Here's my 2023 Art Year in Review!
Oof. Yeah, not a great year for output. As you can tell by my having to put in some photos I took for May and October, since I didn't have any drawn art for those months. What I used for January and Sept. is definitely fudging things (in a "hmm close enough" way.)
So, here's the damage: 15 pieces total (all but one full background and color); 54 individuals.
BUT.
I'm not going to be super hard on myself, because this year is when I organized a big fan project that I'd been wanting to see get done for years and years -- the "Trouble" multi-artist lyric comic. (Art here, video version here by the amazing @stariousfalls.) As I've said before, absolutely awesome seeing 72 people step up wanting to do a big GF fan project in 2024! I was truly blown away by what a spectacular job everyone did.
And while I'm noting some of the stuff I can feel good about, I was happy to finish the Stan Twins meet the Jersey Devil comic that I'd also been meaning to finish for years.
So, not a great year personally, but some things to feel satisfied about.
Saying it here: my new year's resolution is just to DRAW SOMETHING in every month. Even just one thing!
Links below the cut.
2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017
(For this year's images, I am in the process of updating the original posts with image descriptions in the image ALT text. I should have all of them done by the end of tomorrow, January 4th.)
January: Fiddleford as Disney Mirrorverse Kermit
February: GF Finale 7th Anniversary
March: Not What He Seems 8th Anniversary
April: DTIYS: Mystery Farm AU Stan and Jackie
May: (a photo I took of a sunset that I didn't even post, lol)
June: The Pines family and Paul Bunyan Day
July: My Portal Ford page for the "Trouble" lyric comic
August: A pinch-hit Stan page for the "Trouble" lyric comic (collab with @stephreynaart)
September: My polaroid for the "Trouble" lyric comic
October: Sunset photo from LBI in October
November: Fiddleford Friday - father and son fishing
December: The Pines family around a Winter Solstice campfire

BEST SOLOIST (FEMALE) IS A GRAND PRIZE AKA DAESANG AWARD!
Who's the best soloist in the fic? Meet the eight amazing female artists who are nominated for BEST SOLOIST!
BORN IN THE CAPITAL OF THAILAND, naiyana’s introduction to the world was bloody and wretched. She danced because her m jiho loved when she danced, enrolled in singing lessons, and was whisked to seoul to audition at a company she didn’t know. because she ought to put her talent to good use, no? \\ @xonaisu
VERONIKA ( 베로니카 ), a fictional female soloist, emerges from the shadows with unique haunting music style and witch-themed visuals. her self-titled debut album, released alongside an intense music video, created a buzz in the industry with its dark and mysterious theme. the concept resonated strongly with audiences, who were drawn to the blend of mythology, witchcraft, and music. \\ @iamvercnika
HEEJIN KWAN, also known by her stage name, ASTELLA is a fictional soloist that originally debuted on July 13th, 2017 with her former group PARADISE, and later in late 2021 as a soloist is managed by STARSHIP Entertainment. \\ @heejinkwan
Dayna Seo was originally set to debut with CLC, but due to a lineup change last minute. she was benched. That's in the past because now she is a talented producer, creating all of VIVID's songs alongside Sora under the duo name SoDa. She finally made her solo debut on January 12, 2021, with the single "거기너!" and has also contributed her songwriting and producing talents to various idol tracks, working closely with Sora. \\ @alwaysvivid
Sora first gained widespread recognition by competing on Unpretty Rapstar in 2016, where she placed 3rd, and Produce 101 from 2016 to 2017, just missing the final I.O.I lineup by placing 12th. Her solo debut came on April 4, 2022, with the release of her debut album CHERRY under Angelico Entertainment. Every song on the album was written and produced by Sora and Dayna under SoDa. Sora’s creativity and artistic vision have made her a standout figure in the music industry. \\ @alwaysvivid
Judy (judi. 주디, often stylized in all caps) is a soloist managed by cult creative. The singer was originally a part of Project HotPink, she debuted with Heart Attack in the spring of 2013. Gaining the name disaster rookie due to her debut being a complete disaster. it wouldn’t take long for the singer to redeem herself, however; the release of Purple Night did wonders for her failing career — peaking at two on the Gaon Digital Chart and securing her two end-of-the-year awards. \\ @anqelsweep
SHIM MIYEO, also known as MEW is a fictional south korean soloist under glasshouse inc. she debuted in 2017 with a single album, CATz TALK. originally under alfea labels, MEW was in the lineup to debut with VENUS TRAP in 2020, but after a conflict in her contract, she left the company three years earlier to debut as a soloist. \\ @mimcw
CHLOE KWON is a kpop SOLOIST and CEO of LOVELY RECORDS. she was first introduced in the survival show SIXTEEN, where she placed 10TH overall, just missing the final lineup of TWICE. she then debuted as a SOLOIST less than a year later, skyrocketing in popularity. \\ @chloekwon

Redwood Gulch, CA (No. 2)
Prior to its completion, the California coast south of Carmel and north of San Simeon was one of the most remote regions in the state, rivaling at the time nearly any other region in the United States for its difficult access. In 1920, the 26 mi (42 km) trip from Carmel to the Pfeiffer Ranch in the Big Sur valley on the Old Coast Road in a light spring wagon pulled by two horses could be completed in about 11 hours, while a lumber wagon pulled by four horses could make the same trip in 13 hours. The rough road ended in present-day Posts and could be impassible in winter. No road existed beyond Posts, only a horseback trail connecting the homesteads to the south.
The highway was first proposed by Dr. John L. D. Roberts, a physician who was summoned on April 21, 1894 to treat survivors of the wreck of the 493 tons (447 t) S.S. Los Angeles (originally USRC Wayanda), which had run aground near the Point Sur Light Station about 25 miles (40 km) south of Carmel-by-the-Sea. It took him 3+1⁄2 hours on his two-wheeled, horse-drawn cart, a very fast trip for the day. The initial survey for the highway was completed in 1918, and its construction began in 1921. The project ceased for two years in 1926 when funding ran out, and after 18 years of construction, the Carmel–San Simeon Highway was completed in 1937. The route was incorporated into the state highway system and re-designated as Highway 1 in 1939.
The winding, narrow road, often cut into the face of towering seaside cliffs, is a "symbolic image" of Big Sur. In May 2017, a 5,000,000-cubic-foot (140,000 m3) slide blocked the highway at Mud Creek, north of Salmon Creek near the San Luis Obispo County line, to just south of Gorda. The road was reopened on July 18, 2018, but is subject to closure during heavy storms. On January 29, 2021, the land under the road collapsed into the sea due to heavy storms near Rat Creek 15 miles (24 km) south of Big Sur Village. After 30 days of debris removal and only 56 days of construction, the highway was reopened on April 23, 2021. The highway has been closed more than 55 times by landslides. It was closed repeatedly during the storms of 2022-23. On January 8, 2023, the highway was closed at Paul's Slide 22 miles (35 km) north of the San Luis Obispo/Monterey county border and as of January 2024 remains closed, with Caltrans estimating a Spring 2024 completion of repair works. The Nacimiento-Fergusson Road also remains closed.

Happy birthday Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck plus Phooey Duck! - Tripletsmania
Although I don't always make it, here I am posting my drawings (although I did it last year), considering the given anniversary. On April 15, 1938, the famous trio appeared in the classic Donald Duck short, which will change the history of the Duckverse in part. And these are Donald's nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck. Happy 85th birthday to them!
Yes, I'm reposting these two drawings I did last year. Yes, there will be a surprise for their birthday.
Donald’s classic shorts, Ducktales (original and reboot), Quack Pack, and various comics have mostly portrayed Donald’s nephews in the best possible ways. So I drew two drawings (since it wouldn’t all fit) showing various versions of Donald’s nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie from the beginning to the present day. Drawn all three in his classic style from various series and comics such as Mr Duck Steps Out, Trick or Treat, Junior Woodchucks (Carl Barks, Don Rosa, Topolino comics as well as Dutch comics), Ducktales 1987, Ducktales 2017, Quack Pack, Area 15, Spookyzone and Duckscares. Yes, I also added Phooey Duck in three versions (the classic Ducktales version, the reboot version and the Quack Pack version) as Donald’s fourth yellow nephew.
I hope you like this idea and this drawing and I certainly wish them a happy 85th birthday (actually they don’t have that many, but then their birthday is in April). Happy Birthday Huey, Dewey and Louie! Yes, they are after Donald and Goofy, my favorite and best Disney characters.
By the way, what is your favorite version of Donald’s nephews and your favorite triplet? And of course happy Easter! I hope you like these drawings.

Happy 10th anniversary to my beloved Free! fandom. When I was struck down by a fever in late 2017 and decided to watch the anime, I had no idea the ways the fandom would influence me. So since @rinharumemories is a memory event, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to finally write a love letter to the fandom! 💙❤️
(Adapted from this twitter thread!)
After my fever-inspired crash-course, Free! fell out of my head for a while, but Rin never did. The following year, I watched a cosplay tutorial for him on YouTube and decided to watch Take Your Marks. I saw The Bench Scene. Suddenly I had an OTP!
My first-ever rinharu friend, Rubi, encouraged me to write fic and kindly beta read for me! I was neck-deep in anxiety at the time because of another fandom and Free! was refreshing. My anxiety was so bad that she actually screened the comments on that first fic to make sure I could read them without spiraling.
I found more shippers & joined the Sakura Pool discord, where I would meet my dear SweetHeaven! Su & the other friends I made there helped shape @ficwip's early days as a hashtag game, and (along w/friends from SPN & VLD) were some of our discord's initial members.
When I was designing the ficwip discord, Aenya was kind enough to share tips for role-based channel permissions & let me pick her brain about modding a year-round space! Her advice was invaluable, an absolute lifesaver. 🙏🙏🙏
Around this time, through the original #ficwip game on Twitter, I met fellow writer @matsuoka-lin and we got to be friends. (During the pandemic, Lin would join the ficwip server and we would recognize our Aquarius bond ♒)
Late into 2018, I was still writing rinharu fic, and I also participated in Inktober, with a good number of the images being rinharu themed. It had been years since I’d drawn, but those two brought it out of me. Sadly, that December, the VLD finale hit during my very first @rinharuweek and launched me back into the VLD fandom for a couple of years. I never finished my RHW '18 entry. But I never forgot Free! or rinharu, and definitely not Rin, who was my profile pic more often than not.
Flash forward to 2021. Su won a fic giveaway & prompted me to write a rinharu amnesia fic. I worked on it across 11 months. That awoke my muses, and I ended up writing rinharu hanahaki for @ficwip's 5k!
Last August, I was days away from announcing a fandom-wide SPN event when I recalled my dream of a rinharu bang and mentioned it in passing to Lin. We talked for eight hours straight. By the end of the conversation, @thenightpool had been born.
We started TNP with the humble goal of five participants in our first event, a mermaid-themed fic & art fest. We had months to prepare! Then something happened with FS2 and we scrambled to launch a Halloween fest that we pulled off thanks to incredible contributors. They formed the foundation of the TNP discord, which is set up a lot like ficwip’s to be a year-round little creative community. We’ll actually be launching our own version of fw’s writing retreat weekends later this month!
The merfest, which got renamed Unleashed Blue, blew past our expectations — as did Sakurathon, a dormant event that we revived for a weekend in April. UB ended up with 52 entries; we’d hoped for maybe 15. Sakurathon was such a success that we rescheduled it immediately. Right now, we have a prompt meme running, and have events scheduled through 2024! 😅
In addition to @thenightpool, we’ve formed @iwatobievents to promote events across the Free! fandom. And we’re running events there too, for Nagisa and Soumako. Because what is sleep!!
So the TL;DR is that the rinharu fandom helped give @ficwip life, has inspired me as a writer and artist, led me to my best and dearest friends, and will make a big dream come true later this year: I’ll finally be running a rinharu bang! 💙❤️
And I still have a Rin Matsuoka icon.
(eta: I did, up until the day I posted this. It may temporarily be changed to another favorite character!)
#rinharumemories#rinharu#harurin#I've been meaning to say these things for a long time#really happy to have the opportunity!

[Image id 1: A digital drawing of Kaito, the Vocaloid. He is wearing the Majestic Stone outfit from Project Diva X. He's standing up, with his right hand clenched by his side and has his left hand outreached from his side and slightly to the camera. His head is facing forward but his eyes are looking to his left. The drawing has a grainy texture to it, and prominent darks and brights in its colors. The background is a simple sapphire to black gradient. The artist's signature is on the top right]
majestic stone redraw! my original was from april 2017 (and one of the first vocaloid fan art i've ever done) so i thought i'd do him again after all these years ☆
Original:
[Image Id 2: A traditional drawing, of the same character and outfit above. It's only drawn with pencil, and is a monochrome drawing. It's an older drawing by the same artist back when he had less experience, so it's cruder in execution. While he's in a similar pose, there are some differences: the left arm goes straight out of his side instead of slightly to the camera, as well as the pose being less energized. The facial structure is also different due to the change in style.]

Hello it's me again!
So I have some more asks, some relating to art, some just random stuff I think of XD
1. Favorite character of yours that you like drawing?
2. What's your favorite show/movie? (If you don't have a favorite, just name ones you like)
3. Oldest oc you have? How did they change throughout the time you had em?
Thanks in advance!
✨ Hi! Thank you so much for asking more questions! (You're literally the first person to send in more than one ask before! Thank you for bringing some life to my ask box, lol!)
Question 1. I don't know if I have a favorite character of mine to draw, but the first character that popped into my head was Darragh, probably since I used to draw him A LOT & know how to draw him pretty well from all the times I've drawn him before! (I'm hoping to get a light board this holiday season so I can actually finish an updated version of his reference sheet soon!)
Question 2. I like a lot of shows & movies, so I'll just list the many that I like instead!
Some Of The Movies I Like Include... Back To The Future (trilogy) Little Shop of Horrors (1986) Ferris Bueller's Day Off Gremlins Gremlins 2: The New Batch How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004) Wolfwalkers Shrek 2 Puss in Boots: The Last Wish The "Spider-Man: Spider-Verse" series The "Kung Fu Panda" series The "Sing" series The "Trolls" series
Some Of The TV Shows I Like Include... Bluey The Owl House Infinity Train Ducktales (2017) Gravity Falls Steven Universe My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005) Our Flag Means Death Bob's Burgers Central Park SpongeBob SquarePants (Seasons 1-3)
(You know, writing this list out has made me realize how much I like musicals... & DreamWorks Animation???)
Question 3. The oldest OC that I have is my first OC! I haven't drawn her in a long time, but her name is Magic & she initially was one of those classic "character a child likes, so they barely recolor the character & call it their own;" the actual character was Spyro from the Skylanders series! (Yes, I love "Pug Spyro!") Initially, the only difference was that she had white accent colors instead of gold/bronze. As I got better at drawing & designing characters, I began to actually make her more original & less like Skylanders' Spyro (pictured below!)
The first drawing (which is actually the first drawing I ever made of her!) is from 2014, I think in April; I believe we were going on a school field-trip that day to a trampoline park as a reward for the good students? I drew her with no reference in class with my pencil & colored pencils on a piece of notebook paper! Whenever that day was, it was the day I decided to take art seriously & was the start of my journey to getting as good at drawing as I am today!
The second drawing is (I think) from around 2018 when I really started to try & make her legally distinct from Skylanders' Spyro; different shaped horns, fin-like ears, furred belly & (not pictured) tail tip (kinda like Banjo's)! I made that drawing with my old & cheap watercolor set on what (I think) is sketchbook watercolor paper; & yes, that tiny little portrait is in a tiny little picture frame!
The third drawing is a concept doodle for a 4.0 design for Magic from around 2021 or 2022? I never finalized the design, but the idea was to really change her body type into being more chubby & pear-shaped like some stuffed animals I have, as well as adding stars to her design since I think of her as my "spark of inspiration" for where I am now! Since I've been working on redesigning another dragon-like character of mine recently, perhaps I'll finally get around to finalizing Magic 4.0, who knows!
You (or anybody else who may see this!) can totally ask me more questions about my interests or old/new characters of mine if you’d like! Thank you so much for taking the time to ask me fun questions to answer! ✨

Other artists with unusual style. Part 2
Kei Zama:
Kei Zama (座間 慧 Zama Kei) is a Japanese comic artist and metalhead. After discovering Last Stand of the Wreckers, they fell hard for Transformers and started hunting down every Western comic they could, with Geoff Senior and Derek Yaniger being faves and influences for their "powerful and aggressive" styles.
Starting as a regular cover artist for IDW Publishing, they became the regular artist on Optimus Prime in late 2016.
As well as Transformers, they've drawn for their fan-fave 2000 AD: starting with those other war robots, ABC Warriors, for a 2017 Free Comic Book Day special. They were unsure about doing it at the same time as starting their ongoing Optimus Prime gig but John Barber, their co-creator, talked them into it.
Kei Zama is a Japanese comic book artist who has worked on several Star Wars projects for Marvel Comics as an illustrator and cover artist, including War of the Bounty Hunters – 4-LOM & Zuckuss 1, Life Day 1, and Doctor Aphra (2020) 21. They enjoy the prequel trilogy films and appreciated the experience of drawing characters from the 1999 prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace for the Pride Month variant cover of Darth Vader (2020) 24.
My opinions for this artist, they have made lot of details when they are making transformers comics as which they've drawn for their fan-fave 2000 AD which is starting with those other war robots aka Cybertrons and Decepticons.

Ben Templesmith:
Ben Templesmith is an Australian comic book artist best known for his work in the American comic book industry, most notably the Image Comics series Fell, with writer Warren Ellis, and IDW's 30 Days of Night with writer Steve Niles, which was adapted into a motion picture of the same name.
Templesmith produced his first commercial American comics work in 2001, providing the art for Todd McFarlane Productions' Hellspawn, which was published by Image Comics. He has gone on to create his own original works as well as contribute to many licensed properties at various publishers, most notably IDW Publishing, with which he had an exclusive agreement through most of 2008 and part of 2009 before returning to being a freelancer.
Original works Templesmith has produced include the miniseries Welcome to Hoxford, the New York Times best-selling Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse Tommyrot: The Art of Ben Templesmith, Conluvio and Choker at Image Comics with writer Ben McCool. He also provided a number of covers for the Oni Press series Wasteland.
In April 2012, DC Entertainment announced that Templesmith would be one of the artists illustrating a new digital Batman series with stories set outside regular DC continuity.
My opinions for this artist, that his art works have like different emotions but he want it to be in the dark theme scene on the comic as it very unusual for it in the comic itself as it is like explaining the emotions with colours but in dark theme style.
╰── ⋅ ⋅ ── ✩ ── ⋅ ⋅──╯
Joëlle Jones:
Joëlle Jones is an American comic book artist and writer, best known for her work on Lady Killer, a series published in 2015–2017 by Dark Horse Comics, for her cover work on various Marvel Comics series, and for her work writing and illustrating DC Comics series including Batman and Catwoman.
Joëlle Jones is an Eisner nominated artist currently living and working in Los Angeles, CA. Since attending PNCA in Portland, OR, she has contributed to a wide range of projects and has most recently has worked on Batman for DC comics. She also wrote and drew the series, Lady Killer, published by Dark Horse comics. Jones has also provided the art for fashion designer Prada, and various projects for Marvel, Boom, Vertigo, Oni Press and The New York Times. Joëlle currently has projects with DC comics as well as continuing her Series Lady Killer.
My opinions for this artist, that her art works has very complexing colours on her work as she works on the details little by little as she had made positive spaces and aswell negative spaces to show what specific parts that our attention should be.

share more info of your ocs :) when did you start creating them?
hmm that's a question. I've always been creating little characters to draw, mostly because I never really wanted to make true fanart but making fan characters and so on was so much more interesting to me. though original character wise I have been making little stories, or actually really big stories since I don't know when to stop. one of my earliest ones was this conflict between these kingdoms and I called the people there wolves even though they. weren't wolflike in the least. (there's a deeper story to that but to keep things concise, I won't get into that) and I am genuinely considering making that into a story, but we'll see. I'm not really a high fantasy person and I have another high fantasy story that I keep thinking about a lot at the moment so I'll see
I'm gonna stick the rest of this under the cut to keep this post a bit shorter because that seems polite lol (note: this will be longwinded and rambly)
the first of my original characters who I have now would be keith.
he's been around since about 2013. coming up on ten years in april, actually! the story is, keith's a fan character. he's a doctor who oc. as you may or may not know, I have been a dr who fan (on and off) since 2003/4. I watched the first few series of new who, then stopped watching because I didn't see any episodes for a long time til 2010 and then didn't want to watch it after that, but one day in april 2013 my cousin sat me down and made me watch the snowmen and I got hooked. so hooked that I ended up having a dream about it within a few days, and I drew that dream.
the character in that dream would eventually become keith, through a few twists and turns. at first I drew him similar to how I looked at the time, but later he would become ginger whereas I am not, though at the time my hair was very reddish. funnily enough, the incarnation of him that I later turned into my oc nico was also inspired by a dream, though not a dr who related one. but a year later in 2016 I would start writing keith's story, and his appearance changed again, but I never actually drew him.
I think I might've drawn the very early stages of his current form back in 2017, but it wasn't til 2018 that I actually drew him and settled on the name 'keith neptune'. he also travels with a nebulous 'next' incarnation of the doctor so I don't have to try and get the doc's character correct lol.
keith's a bit of a nervous wreck though he's got the excuse to be one since he does get technically kidnapped about four different times within the space of about four months for him, but he's also reckless and dives into things headfirst.
the next lot of original characters I came up with are my (main) oc band, the starstrucks
the members of this band are davey, charlie, roger, snowy, pete (not to be confused with peter) and also rory and mick. there are a few characters connected to them, like sylvia, holly, mary and james (not to be confused with jimmy), though I won't get into them because that will quickly snowball into explaining every single character. I probably ought to draw up an affinity chart xc1 style!
davey's the lead singer, though he gets kicked out in 1970 because he steals some of roger's tracks to use on a solo album that he didn't tell anyone about til it released. he starts out as an arrogant, kinda spoilt nepo baby - and he is a nepo baby, the band unfortunately allows his uncle gerald to manage them and he says 'you need a singer' and he puts davey in the band. davey is actually quite a good singer, so initially they can't be that mad at him, but most of their personalities clash horribly. part of davey's problem is that he's a repressed bisexual, so hanging around with two aspec gays, another bisexual and a polysexual for four years does bring him out of the closet. he's not exactly the villain, because there isn't a villain, but he's definitely the antagonist
roger is the actual leader, and the keyboardist. he's shy, but he does have a bit of an arc where he learns to beat his social anxiety. he's still shy, but he's able to stand his ground. he writes a lot of their music, too. I can't really talk too much about him because a lot of the stuff I have worked out about him is spoilers, and I am genuinely working on presenting the story
snowy is the youngest and also has the most anger issues - davey has them, yes, but he expresses his deeprooted problems by being annoying whilst snowy sits in the corner and simmers in anger. he doesn't have the best control over his reactions, because he is autistic (though davey's meant to be the only nt, so...) and he really didn't come from a good home. in fact, the scene in which you first see him, he's literally running away. he does learn to mellow out, but it does take not being around davey for that to happen lol! he's a bit of a stereotypical resting bassist faced... bassist.
charlie's the golden retriever of the group. snowy and he have been best friends since they were kids - snowy being the type to have one friend and only that friend, meanwhile charlie just. likes people. anyway he's probably the happiest of the group; he graduates his arts degree while being a full-time musician, he marries holly and is all 'I LOVE MY WIFE!!1!', and is a positive anchor. he's the guitarist for the band.
pete is the most laidback member, and also the (original) drummer. he's been roger's best friend for years, and he's incredibly observant. he's very good at de-escalating situations, as well as being very good with emotions. he's the oldest, the most serious, but also has a very good sense of humour. he also marries his first wife, mary, at the start of the story, and part of his story is him realising he's falling out of love with her - they remain friends, it's not bitter or anything, but I feel like it's an interesting dynamic that I want to explore.
rory and mick i'll put in one paragraph. pete leaves the band in 1972 because he realises he doesn't want to be absent from his kids' lives (he has two kids with his second wife, isabelle) so the band needs a new drummer. so along comes rory, who is super similar to charlie so they get along excellently! snowy, uh. doesn't have a happy ending. about eight months afterwards, roger gets the band back together, but he needs a new bassist and he doesn't want to just have a session musician after trying that. whilst he was producing another group, he comes across mick - a session musician, and after a bit of persuasion, he joins. mick's very deadpan, but he's also rather warm when he opens up. he's not in much of the story, because the 1980s-on chapter is an epilogue of sorts, but he's significant enough that I felt the need to mention him
the other oc band I have is the midnight delusions, who I feel have more outside characters than the starstrucks do, but the characters you need to worry about most are jimmy, peter, arthur, teddy, stevie, lucky, and also katherine because she is important too.
jimmy is the on-again off-again frontman/lead guitarist for the midnight delusions, and I made him visually and name-wise similar to a certain member of led zep because I hate his guts and wanted to make someone better than him out of spite. therefore, james rafferty jade came into existence. he could genuinely be an incredible musician, but when he's not too mentally ill to leave the house (something his partner christopher gets extremely worried about) he's clashing with teddy, arthur or stevie too much to get much done.
teddy is incredibly similar to jimmy, in the sense that they're both stubborn, headstrong musicians who have similar mental illnesses. unlike jimmy, who manifests this as silent rage, teddy is similar to davey in the sense that he's annoying, slightly immature, and arrogant. but teddy's more... balanced... and there's a definite harrowing depression to him. can you tell what mental illness he might have. anyway teddy's got really complex family history but what you need to know is he was born in post-war holland to a large family where his mother was busy looking after his ever so slightly older cousins so he was neglected a lot and not treated well, and eventually he ran away to his estranged uncle who runs a boutique in london. his uncle tried to make up for his childhood by spoiling him a little, but honestly teddy has such crushing guilt all the time that it didn't turn out the same way davey's spoiling did. he's sort of the jack of all trades musically. keyboard, bass, guitar, whatever needs doing.
arthur is one of my favourite ocs if I can say so! he's the bassist, and he's also got a really complex family background, but he's very grounded. he's also completely done with everyone, which sometimes manifests as anger, but he likes to be in control, so he doesn't have the anger issues snowy does. he's a bookworm, which is how he met peter, and he's otherwise very chill, or... aloof.
peter is also one of my favourite ocs... he's laidback, incredibly hardworking - like arthur - protective and probably the most put-together of the group. he's been in charge of his sibling, morgan, since he was about sixteen/seventeen. his story is again really not something I can talk about without spoilers, but one last thing about him is that he's the rhythm guitarist.
stevie is a character I think about a lot. part of peter's story is that he has some friends ditch him whilst on a trip to america, and he'd met stevie whilst in houston, texas. they travel across the usa after stevie runs away from his awful family, inspired by peter, and eventually they both end up back in the uk and stevie, having decided to take up piano, gets dragged into the band. he plays on their first few albums but eventually he decides to leave and I don't know exactly what he does after that, but he's still a part of the story.
lucky is the ray of sunshine of the group. he's the drummer, having joined an amateur orchestra as a young teen as a percussionist and learning a lot of percussion instruments. he then played in a jazz band, before getting snagged by the band. him and stevie get along really well, despite stevie kinda hating people. his real name is either gonna be luke or lucas, but I haven't decided yet. he's more in the background like mick in the starstrucks because I don't think there is enough room to fit another angsty character with personal issues in the story, and besides. there needs to be a mediator.
and lastly, katherine is an artist, a writer, and a vital link between the two bands. so, katherine is a fellow art student with pete, roger and charlie (though he's younger than the others) and they sort of interact, but later in late 1965 roger decides to commission her for some record sleeve artwork, and they become friends. however, her housemates (who sort of form an artist collective) are either the older cousin of one of morgan's friends - how jimmy, teddy, arthur and peter know the collective - or a friend that holly has, and later works with teddy's uncle which leads to the others working with him. so I feel like she's the most important link between the two sections
anyway at the end of 2018 I wanted to come up with my own oc band, because several of my friends had their own, but it took until early 2019, a trip to my dad's and a trip interstate to housesit plus a sprinkling of extra energy for me to come up with the starstrucks. I feel like they're my best designed characters, because I used a shape for each's face (where a lot of my design variation goes to, especially when the characters don't have 'set' outfits to distinguish them by) for example, charlie used a heart, snowy used a diamond, roger a rectangle, davey an oval, and pete a pentagon. I was quite happy with them, but whilst I was too overwhelmed with my grade twelve portfolio I came up with another band; who were the midnight delusions. the only ones who remained of that were teddy and stevie. teddy originally had a doppelganger, but I dropped that character. priscilla kinda took the helm of another character, now that I think about it. but once I finished college I repurposed arthur from my english writing folio into, well, arthur, had my moment of spite and created jimmy, and lucky existed in my head but wouldn't get drawn til february 2020 lol. most of the rest appeared later, or like nico, were redesigned from older characters
anyway that was incredibly long but I hope that it was not only intelligible but also answered your question!
#ask/#anonymous#original characters#oc lore#the starstrucks#the midnight delusions#at some point I'll create a character directory. not now though it's nearly half past five in the morning!!#of course just because I didn't list them here doesn't mean anything other#than 'you don't need to know about them for the moment'#trust me I have whole side stories for them. the story's gonna be like xc3 with all the side stories#comparing my work to that masterpiece feels wrong though!!

Critique Reflection
Artwork Class Crits - Week 7
Seeing and hearing how others responded to this artwork in class was enjoyable.
Classmates were mainly drawn to the crystal ball throughout observations.
Reminded some of the patterns or paths of the planets in the solar system.
The crystal ball is a motif of fortune-telling.
There were comments on Jeff Koons's Gazing Ball series.
Some people could understand the water element based on the direction and movement of the wire and the clear glass ball.
There were observations of the imperfections on the soft wire.
There were questions of scale and how I might achieve this process by just scaling up the shape of the wire and keeping the glass ball at its original size to support the context (center of the universe).
There was also an idea proposed to transform this artwork into a live show using the crystal ball as a prop for contact juggling. The performer would dance and the camera would zoom in on the glass ball, highlighting the idea of life as a balance between a calm center and a chaotic reality.
ARTIST RESEARCH
One example of an artist who uses a crystal ball as a medium is Ai Weiwei, who created a large-scale installation called Crystal Ball in 2017.
The work consists of a two-tonne glass sphere that contains various objects related to the global refugee crisis, such as life jackets, tents, and backpacks. The crystal ball reflects and distorts the surrounding environment, inviting the viewers to contemplate the complex and urgent issues facing humanity.

David Choe's Casting On "Beef" Is Hollywood Nepotism At Its Worst
"Netflix almost had the best show of the year on its hands. Beef, a hypnotic portrait of strangers who take their self-hatred out on each other after a parking lot spat, has racked up the admiration of audiences and critics — including myself — since it came out on April 6. But less than two weeks after its release, the show’s legacy has already been tainted by a controversy surrounding one of its main cast members: David Choe, a celebrity artist who plays Isaac, a temperamental grifter on parole. He’s come under fire for his history of graphically bragging and joking about rape.
In 2014, on his podcast DVDASA, which stands for “Double Vag, Double Anal, Sensitive Artist,” Choe recounted a story about forcing his massage therapist to watch him masturbate, then hold his penis, then perform oral sex on him. His friend and cohost, the porn actor Asa Akira, interjected to say that he was “basically” admitting to rape, but he shrugged it off.
A month later, after journalist Melissa Stetten brought public attention to the incident in a post on xoJane, Choe issued a formal apology in which he claimed that he made the story up, calling it his mission as “an artist and a storyteller” to challenge his friends and listeners with “dark, tasteless” ideas. But his career continued apace. Although one of his murals was vandalized in 2017, presumably in protest of the same controversy, which prompted another public apology, Choe didn’t seem to suffer any major professional consequences. Being provocative merely became part of his brand. In a 2021 profile in the New York Times, Choe said “it was strangely comforting to be so despised” in 2014 because the external hate finally matched his own self-loathing. It didn’t seem to bother him that Disney warned its subsidiary company FX against acquiring his TV series, The Choe Show, on account of his controversial history. He funded the show himself, and after all, the company bought it anyway. In a smug but prescient quote, he declared, “If you want to come and try to cancel me, that’s OK.”
Now that he’s attached to a project as high profile as Beef, this 9-year-old controversy has become inescapable. Writers Aura Bogado and Meecham Meriweather recirculated clips of the original podcast episode on Twitter last week, causing fans to wonder why Choe had been cast and what steps Beef’s production team would take to condemn his behavior. (Twitter deleted the tweets after Choe’s foundation requested that Bogado’s and Meriweather’s tweets be removed on copyright grounds). This time, people have drawn attention to Choe’s description of his massage therapist as “half Black, half white,” arguing that his story not only normalizes rape but contributes to a long history of objectifying Black women, who experience sexual violence at disproportionately high rates.
Thus far, nobody from Beef has made any public comments. Show creator Lee Sung Jin, as well as costars and executive producers Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, have remained silent. (Wong set her Twitter account to private seemingly in light of the controversy). As far as damage control goes, it’s disappointingly evasive.
I loved Beef, not as a piece of Asian American representation but as a strange, unsettling work of art. It’s tempting to imagine how much better Beef would be without Choe; with his unwaveringly barking line delivery, he wasn’t a particularly good performer anyway.
But Choe’s casting is inextricable from the show’s other production choices. As Lee told Today.com, he cast Choe over hundreds of actors because he saw The Choe Show and thought he embodied a wounded aggression that fit the part of Isaac. After texting Yeun and Wong, both friends of Choe’s, to ask if he would consider acting, Lee cast him on the basis of his self-tape.
This choice exemplifies a few pitfalls of typical Hollywood casting. Nepotism prevails over equal opportunity — Choe got the part because he knew someone, not because he had any acting experience. And yet creator mythology masks this nepotism as a bold artistic choice; Lee explained that all of the previous actors he auditioned hammed up the “Korean mafioso” element of the character without understanding Isaac’s vulnerability, and thus he had to go with Choe. It paints Choe as a unique soul, anointed by Lee’s powerful vision as an auteur; it elides the truth that acting is a teachable skill, and directing is supposed to mold actors’ existing ideas. Surely, many of the actors up for this role could have embodied Isaac’s traumatic background if encouraged to, but arguing that Choe had some innate je ne sais quoi makes for a more romantic story of artmaking.
Nepotism prevails over equal opportunity — Choe got the part because he knew someone, not because he had any acting experience.
Meanwhile, “stunt casting” — the placement of a nonactor celebrity in an onscreen role to boost a movie or TV show’s hype — has become an increasingly common practice in recent years. It’s a useful marketing strategy. A star like Harry Styles will bring his own built-in audience to screenings of Don’t Worry Darling, even if his actual performance is less interesting than the tabloid gossip that stems from his presence on set. And as consumers hunger for content that shows us who celebrities really are — TikToks and Instagram stories, Architectural Digest house tours, intimate documentaries, etc. — stunt casting thrillingly blurs the boundaries between art and life. The real personality of an actor supplements the character. In the case of Choe, his edginess as a self-described “liar, thief, gambler, vandal, vagabond, and ex-criminal” gives his performance a punky sheen that one critic called “entertainingly slippery,” until the slippage between Choe’s onscreen and offscreen lives proved to be too much.
It’s impossible to separate the choice to cast Choe from the celebrity networks and Hollywood marketing tactics that delivered him into the role. He got the part because he’s a celebrity with celebrity friends. That is the same reason he’s been allowed to continue making art and entertainment in the face of a controversy he has not apologized for beyond denying that he caused any actual harm. Even if Choe is thoroughly deplatformed over this incident, ending his career won’t solve the problem that Hollywood’s most basic elements — like casting — keep powerful people in power because it is profitable to do so. If that means ignoring a celebrity’s unsavory history, so be it.
For every David Choe, there’s another artist whose controversies have blown over twice and will pass, unremarked upon, a third time. For every Jonathan Majors, dropped by his manager and PR firm after being arrested for assault (charges Majors’s attorneys have denied), there is an Ezra Miller, who has a long history of violent behavior but continues to prop up an entire DC franchise as the star of The Flash. Picking off perpetrators of sexual harassment and violence one by one is cathartic, but it’s unwise to isolate their worst behaviors from other people’s seemingly innocent choices to further their careers, or from an industry that privileges fame over accountability."
The only issue I have with this article (besides it being from Buzzfeed) is the Ezra Miller comment. People have been saying for months that the accusations came from a stalker of the actor. It would be cool if Discovery WB released some sort of article to clear this up because attacks against the actor are still being circulated online.

Like the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, Dave Filoni participated in the production as a general manager, and the screenplay was written by X-Men's Simon Kinberg, Rogue One's Gary Whigg, Clone Wars' Henry Gilroy, as well as Greg Wiseman, Charles Murray, and Kevin Hobbs. has participated
On October 3rd, the TV movie was first aired on Disney Channel, and season 1 was aired on Disney XD in earnest on October 13th. In Japan, it has been airing since October 2015 on TV Tokyo. The season 2 TV movie premiered on in April 2015 and premiered on Disney XD on June 20. Ralph Macquarie participated in the design, and he passed away in 2012. In honor of Haja, many of the concept images drawn in the past were changed or discarded. For example, the design of the early A-wing that appears in the work appears as a concept image version he drew, and the spider-type monster 'Krikna' that appears at the end of season 2 is a design of a creature native to Dagoba that was not originally used in The Empire Strikes Back. was one of them.[1] C1-10P uses the earlier R2-D2 design.
And season 4 was confirmed as the final season, and it was aired on October 16, 2017, and ended on March 5, 2018. It's not bad. Still, the evaluation is good compared to the Clone Wars theatrical version, which marked the beginning of the Clone Wars series.[4]
There are many opinions that the expressions using the Force, like the Clone Wars animation, look a little weak. This direction may be intentional, as Kanan has only been trained to the Padawan level, and Ezra is just a newbie. Lightsaber Duel is said to be as satisfying as Clone Wars 3D. The problem is that the lightsaber design is very thin compared to the Clone Wars series, and there are many fans who are dissatisfied with this. If you don't like it, put it like a toothpick. In addition, there are no descriptions of sparks or flames that occur when lightsabers face each other, so there are many complaints that it seems like fighting with a glowing LED bar. The reason for this change was that the Rebel crew referenced the design of the early concept art of Ralph McQuarrie, who drew the concept art for the first Star Wars series in the 70's.[5] Maybe that's why the thin lightsaber design that came out here doesn't come out in other media, and the lightsaber of the characters from the rebels appearing in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes also follows the thick sword design of the original.
In the same vein, Karazeb Orelius' design was also taken from the original Chewbacca's design in the same concept art. Also, Darth Vader's helmet has more ferocious eyes and a more protruding chin than in the movie, and this is also the result of partially reflecting the design of the concept art.
Unlike The Clone Wars, there are many parts that pay homage to the original trilogy. The aerial battle between the Ghost and TIE Fighter in the short animation pays homage to the showdown between the Millennium Falcon and TIE Fighter in A New Hope, and the speeder bike chase scene is also similar to the chase scene in Return of the Jedi. Unlike the Clone Wars TV series, which mostly used its own OST, the soundtrack of the original trilogy was used for the background sound, and the artwork also used the clunky and clunky sound of the original trilogy, not the smooth look shown in the clone wars and prequels. It appeared with a rough design. The phase 1 helmet of the clone trooper that appeared in the work[6] was changed to a design similar to the movie version rather than the design seen in the previous clone wars, and the character design was rounded and the costume or alien design was simplified.
Until season 2, the 15-year-old main character, Ezra, never killed anyone. It's not that people don't die, but it's not like the clone wars 3D, and in many scenes, stormtroopers hit by blasters bounced off with lightsabers are shown a lot of falling and wriggling, expressing "they're not dead." However, all of the tie fighter pilots who dogfighted with Ghost were killed. However, in season 3, Ezra, who has grown up, uses mind tricks to make stormtroopers shoot at each other and just slices them up with a lightsaber, so we can no longer see the non-killing principle.
